I wasn't very optimistic after reading "Im Himmel ist Jahrmarkt". Having now read 2 of her graphic novels, I think it's safe to say that her work is very feminine. Aside from often using women as protagonists, she often uses topics like cooking, clothes and relationships. In this work she even has a lesbian couple. Honestly though, it probably reflects poorly on me that I would be so turned off by a "chick book".
Her works (this and "Im Himmel ist Jahrmarkt") are actually very inventive though. She's able to create a work of historical fiction that is both seemingly authentic and non-depressing. Her use of a necklace to bind together lives across almost a hundred years and 3 continents really ends up giving an other worldly and positive view of life. It's a quick and satisfying read.
Her amazing illustrations were never in question.

Nachdem ich Madgermanes gelesen habe, habe ich gesehen, dass Birgit Weyhe auch Reigen geschrieben hat, und habe es in der Bücherei ausgeliehen. Es war richtig interessant ! Ich mag die Zeichnungen immer noch nicht so sehr, aber die Idee ist gut und die Geschichten waren nett. Es war besonders interessant zu sehen, wie die Meinungen sich ändern, wenn man die Hauptfigur wechselt.

L’histoire d’un bijou qui passe de mains en mains et qui traverse l’histoire, à travers des petits portraits de celles et ceux qui l’ont possédé. Un chouette traitement graphique, et un grand format très agréable à lire !
