Former Army helicopter pilot DJ Poe is a woman used to working in a man’s world. So, the opportunity to become SSI’s first female operative is in her comfort zone. She just didn’t expect to feel an instant attraction for her boss’s brother-in-law. Intimate relationships with men had never ranked high on her bucket list.
Stuart “Tweeter” Walsh knew he’d like DJ because she had saved one of his brothers’ life in Afghanistan and had been unofficially adopted into the Walsh clan. But when he sees the tall, leggy, blonde goddess he falls instantly in love. Now, all he has to do is convince the man-shy beauty to take a chance on him.
Take one alpha-male geek add in one skittish female warrioress—throw them into close proximity and you have the perfect conditions for storm warnings ahead.
Monette Michaels is a multi-published author of romantic suspense, paranormal, and scifi romance novels. She also writes sexier paranormal and romantic suspense novels under the pen name, Rae Morgan.
She is a native Hoosier and still lives in Central Indiana with her husband, son, and cat. The cat is the boss.
I absolutely love this author's sense of humor and the way she sets up and executes an action scene. There are no whimpering women in a SSI book that need a man to save them but yet they do love their strong alpha men.
Stuart “Tweeter” Walsh wasnt a SEAL or a Marine like his brothers. He was a computer geek but just as tough. Since being introduced to him in the first book of the series I've looked forward to seeing what the author would come up with for his story. I was not disappointed.
DJ (Dahlia Jane) Poe is the latest recruit for SSI. Her childhood of being raised by an abusive father with ties to the militia and being violated by another man made her go on to become a kick ass Army helicopter pilot who takes no crap from any man. But her unresolved past and trauma come back to haunt her in more ways than one.
When this author writes action scenes they are a force to be reckoned with. She doesnt shy away from having the women of the series be the ones that take down the bad guys and blends that with plenty of humor. Keely and Callie were already two bad ass women and adding DJ to mix no bad guy stands a chance against them.
There is a lot that happens in this book. Not only the story line of her father and the militia group that want her back along with her mother that she finally managed to get away from them but also a separate SSI mission that included characters from the past and those two almost stole the show with their banter – I will forever laugh when I see the words Crock of shit now :) I hope the author will give us Crocker and Dawn story in a future book.
I love the SSI world and look forward to hopefully many more stories in it.
Another really enjoyable read in this series. I did find it a little slow to begin with though, and certainly in the first half of the book, I didn't quite believe some of the characters were in real danger whenever something happened, mainly because Keely, Callie and DJ kicked ass, whenever they were faced with a threat. However the second half of the book was a lot more action packed and I definitely felt the danger for both Tweeter and DJ towards the end. Especially when they were forced back to DJ's childhood home. Plus, it was great to catch up with the other members of the SSI team and the Walsh's, especially twins Paul and Loren, who I really want to read more about. Although, hopefully Trey and Fee will be next as I have been keen to read their story ever since Stormy Weather Baby.
Overall though it was a good read and one I would happily recommend.
DJ is pretty kick ass and fits in great with the other ladies of SSI. What was great was how she was introduced to us, and how the Walsh bros adopted her. It was nice to have the side story with Nancy and as usual the action scenes were fantastic.
4th book in the Security Specialists International Series, SSI is a globally operated private security firm, owned and operated by Ren Maddox who just happens to be married into the Walsh family through his wife Keely. The Walsh family just happens to be a group of military and ex-military SEALS, Marines and MIT Geeks headed by a stern retired Marine Dad who taught his kids about family, country and to be the best you can be. SSI is just an extension of that family.
In the 4th book, Monette Michaels tells the romantic story of Stuart Alan “Tweeter” Walsh and Dahlia Jane “DJ” Poe. DJ is the newest recruit at SSI, she’s decorated Army helicopter pilot, and the first female operative. Tweeter is the youngest Walsh brother, the nerdy computer Geek Whiz who just happens to be a crack helio pilot. Each knows about the other before they even lay eyes.
Before she was a crack pilot, DJ was the victim of sexual abuse at its most extreme. But DJ is a survivor. Only problem is she can’t get away from those who caused her abuse because her Mom is still entrapped. The book opens to DJ and 2 part-time SSI operatives Marines Andy and Dev Walsh staging an op to free Nancy, her Mom, from her captives. It seems DJ had been the chosen helio pilot in Afghanistan that rescued Dev and Andy after a risky mission. You see DJ was already family.
Tweeter and DJ begin a lustful relationship just by hearing the other speak. Each is drawn to other’s voice and when they meet for the first time, can you say love at first sight? Tweeter thinks she’s a bad-ass warrior with the face of an angel. All DJ can think about is how her libido is turned on by the tall, well built, blond hunk of immediate sexual attraction. My oh my, what do we have here!
Tweeter decides right off to court DJ using “stealth-mode”, letting her get to know him before he takes it to another level. He knows she’s gun-shy around men due to her previous abuse. The action takes twists and turns as missions and lust become intertwined. The story flows as DJ becomes a real SSI operative and Tweeter teaches her that real men can be trusted. But even then Tweeter needs to learn to read the Storm Warnings DJ sends out!
All in all I have really enjoyed all the books in this series! I loved Monette’s PRIME Chronicles and they lead me to seek out these books as well. I am really looking forward to reading more about SSI and those romantic agents as they go on other missions to love and adventure!
Security Specialists International is a private security agency which takes on government contracts and private jobs no one else wants. The series revolves around the security agency contracts and the personnel employed. Although each book is standalone to a certain extent (as in there is a heroine, hero and a happily ever after to each one) there is an overarching plot through the series focusing on a DOD traitor who has been compromising intel and profiting off of information leaks.
That's one of the main things I really love about this series. Even though there's romance and sex and a ton of humour- there's a lot of plot and while each book can be read standalone - reading them in order lets the plot build into something special. Actually it's kind of like Laura Kaye's Hard Ink series insofar as the plot running through each book. I like the whole jigsaw puzzle being put together as each book is released.
Tweeter gets his story! The brother and designated protector of Keely at MIT, Tweeter is a computer hacker extraordinaire and he meets his match in pilot, DJ Poe. I loved Tweeter in the first few books and I loved him in this - especially his new nickname from DJ . He's so sweet and patient with DJ and really understanding of her triggers. And DJ was fantastic. She's overcome so much to get to where she is and it was awe inducing. She's brave and skilled and resilient - like all of the females in/at/around SSI.
The romance was so sweet my teeth ached and it was majorly instalove but it's par for the course with the genre to be honest. The action wasn't as full on as some of the previous books in the series but what was there was intense. DJ was kickass in her role as arm candy and badass. I loved the intro to Dawn Wilson. She's so mean - I loved it. I can't wait to reread Dawn and Croaker's story.
I have loved Tweeter since the very beginning. It's great that he finally gets his own tale and is matched with a strong capable woman who needs a tough alpha male with a gentle heart of gold and blessed with patience and insight. Some old characters are back and new ones introduced who will probably end up in the SSI team in the near future. The sex is hot and the scenes are long and detailed. As is the case with every book in this series, you get the humor, especially from flick-tracking tough girl Keely Walsh-Mattox. The scene in Ma's Diner is hilarious! This is a stand alone book with no cliffhanger although there is the overall traitor story arc that began the series and he's still on the loose. Read from book 1 for the full experience and get to know these awesome characters!
Wow each book that comes out from this author just gets better and better each time. Love this series and her Prime Chronicles series. Love the women in this series who are just as tough and full of kick ass action and attitude and the men that come to love them for who they are. I really hope that each of the Walsh brothers will get their HEA, but i so hoping that the next book will be Crocker nickname (crock-of-shit) by Dawn's book will be next. Can't wait!!
Seriously, another amazing story from Ms Michaels. I must admit her version if alpha, protective male does hit a few buttons like no other, or very few other authors. I'm now at a point with these SSI books where I save them until I simply cannot wait anymore, block out a weekend and let everyone around me do the rest!!! I'm lost in the story, the shocks, joy, excitement, horrors, and entrancing quality of the story, each and everyone one of the series. Try it, it's extremely unlikely you won't find your new BBF in here.
Ugh. For some reason I just couldn't really connect with this book. I found myself skipping pages just to finish it. DJ and Tweeter's relationship was so sweet. I love me an Alpha-male not afraid of love and a strong heroine ready to give 'em hell, but this story fell flat. The author's writing style was too similar to the other books in the series and it just wasn't an exciting read. However I'm still willingly to continue reading from this author. Really hoping Crowley and Dawn will get a book because I'm dying to read their story!
Most 'enjoyable' read so far. I like DJ. Tweeter is OK. (why is there a need to mention the Tweeter/Callie thing? It's just not needed for me... doesn't add )
I do like the thread that runs through this series...
Um, and I think that DJ meant that Tweeter was virile rather than viral? That would be a little weird...
Absolutely worth the wait!!! Tweeter's and DJ's story is HOT and action-packed. The chemistry between these two is undeniable. Of course, seeing the rest of the SSI men and their women is always an added bonus!

Love the SSI stories always fun and sexy with tough ladies and alpha men trying to keep up with them! Lots of hot sexy scenes and a love at first sight thing going on!
BLOODY AWESOME if you have not read any of the SSI books Why?????? this was a great fast Paced read with twist and turns a throughly good read. Sooo looking forward to Trey & Fee's story
This part of the blurb "...one alpha-male geek, one skittish female warrioress..." get to me. Let's see whether I'm proven right in snatching this. X-))
This author gets better with every story she writes. Dark subject at times but I adore how despite being über-Alpha the H’s are very respectful and sensitive to their ladies needs and wishes.
This is the second one I have read in this series. They are very repetitive. She will think something and then he will think the same thing. I don't like how these are supposed to be highly trained best of the best women but get distracted so easily, or how they always get shaky and weak. They also feel so terrible after killing someone and want to throw up. I really want to know how she handled a war zone for that long with being so emotional. I get that the author is trying to show that the man brings out the emotional side because they feel safe to do so. However this is going a little too far. They don't seem like strong independent women that has a partner that complements them. They are just 'little women' that the guy has to protect. What is up with the women getting pregnant right away? They haven't been in a relationship that long and is with a new employer. Don't they care about working or getting to know their boyfriend a little better? Idk that just seems stupid to me.
