I’ve been sitting on this review for a couple of days now, not knowing exactly how to put all my thoughts into words, so I’m just going to say the following:
1) Jade West spices best!
If spice is your thing, this book is for you! It spices early, it spices often, and it spices hard. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart!
2) Size matters!
This book is THICK! We’re talking over 700 pages thick! But honestly? Every single page was necessary. Bryce, Jack, and Alice needed that time to grow, to evolve, and to take us on the journey from a casual, no-strings-attached situationship to something more. So much more. And I was SO invested!
3) And lastly… the art of it all.
I absolutely loved how Jade wove the world of art into this story. The business, the muses, the sketching, the use of colour… it all felt so intentional.
If you’ve lived a little, I think you’ll understand when I say that sometimes life happens, or people happen to us, that quite literally suck the colour out of our lives. The vibrancy fades, everything turns a little greyer, and somewhere along the way, we lose our sparkle.
And in this story, when life happens, that loss of colour seeps into the characters’ lives in a way that is both visible and visceral. Art becomes more than just a backdrop; it becomes a reflection of what they feel, what they lose, and what they find again.
Bryce, Jack, and Alice each bring their own shades to the canvas, contrasting and complementing one another in ways that make their story all the more compelling.
Here’s to putting it ALL on the table!
