Sonic and Tails go it alone against Robotnik's most terrifying weapon to date -- a doomsday machine that could roboticize the entire planet with just the push of a button! Straight out of the videogame screens of Sonic 2, 3, and Sonic & Knuckles -- the most requested weapon by you the fans... the Death Egg!
I've been going back and re-reading the entire Archie run of Sonic the Hedgehog to revisit my childhood. A lot of it has aged really poorly, but I've noticed the writing has started getting a lot better. The Death Egg Saga is a perfect example of that. Tightly plotted with a nice mix of action and humor, this story is easily one of the best yet. It's nice to see them finally trying to tell interesting stories, especially stories that span multiple issues. That really helps the stories breath and feel like they have some actual weight to them.
You'll never forget that this is a kids comic, but they've finally stopped relying on slaptstick and puns to fill the pages. If you're at all nostalgic for some classic Sonic comics, this is a fantastic one to revisit.
Wow, get a load of this new guy over here.... Geoffrey the Skunk. That's a pretty lame name for a character in this series... making him sound more like a DeviantArt OC rather than an actual character, and one that certainly wouldn't strike fear into the hearts of men. "Watch out everyone, it's Geoffrey the Skunk! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!", like, give me a break. Also, I don't think you are allowed to say "Holy pepperoni!", Tails. Pretty sure Mario is the only one allowed to say something like that, and he probably has exclusive rights to it. You are already gonna lose the console wars, so you probably shouldn't push the Italian plumber's buttons too much.
