Kevin has a BS and an MBA. He has attended the prestigious New England Conservatory of Music and studied in France. After a successful career in business management and consulting, he returned to his first love: writing. His first novel, a spell-binding paranormal romance titled "Rite of Passage" is set in the chaotic period after World War II. It's received dozens of great reviews and was a RomCon Reader's Crown Finalist for 2013. His latest effort is a contemporary romantic thriller set near his Cape Cod home, titled "Out of the Storm." Like his first novel, it is an Amazon Best-Seller and received many 5-star reviews. "Solo", an intense and ambitious women's fiction work, has just been released from The Wild Rose Press, his award-winning publisher. It explores the devastating effects of privation and domestic violence on the beautiful and extraordinarily talented young heroine.
Kevin Symmons engages the reader from the first moment. Paige is on an unanticipated journey to discover a person she only imagined. Her "chrysalis" carries the reader thru twists and turns that keep the pages turning until at last the beautiful butterfly emerges. Mr. Symmons adeptly creates a plot which ties characters together in a way that even the most avid reader cannot predict. It's not your typical coming of age story, but instead a beautiful, suspenseful tale of a young girl who will take you on an unexpected journey.
I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway. This is a pleasant story of a gifted young girl who has suffered a disabling accident. As the story progresses, the reader sees her emerge from her 'chrysalis' to the lovely, strong young woman she becomes. Woven in the story is a romance with a young man and a dangerous threat from a villain. All in all, a busy plot. This book is clearly intended for the young female reader and it seems to have all the elements that demographic would enjoy. It is clean and presents the correct values. I intend to pass it along to a young teen that I know.
Paige Fuller has secretly loved Morgan Cahill since she met him several years ago but she thinks she has no chance with him since she is so shy and wears glasses. She also hides scars from a riding accident last year. No one is more surprised than Paige when they become a couple. Her sister Candy also becomes a couple with Morgan's friend Ben. They spend a magical summer together unaware of the trouble brewing among friends and enemies. Many secrets will be revealed as the drama of their love plays out. I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway in exchange for an honest review. Good story but the main characters were a little too goody goody for me. They didn't appear to have any shortcomings or failings. Not realistic. But it was a good read.
Received free through GoodReads First Reads - thank you.
Enjoyable book following the transition of a young girl from troubled childhood to first love with a crime threat. I wasn't sure whether this was meant for older teens but either way it was readable. Was slightly put off by the cover which seemed to indicate it was an equestrian-based story line but this wasn't the case.
