I stood in the clearing in the heart of the woods staring up at the darkened sky. While the cold pricks of numerous snowflakes touched down upon my face, I tried to regain my bearings. Every third Friday of each month was known as harvest night. No matter the weather, through rain, snow, sleet, wind, hail, or heat, I entered the woods, wearing the specimen belt and leather pouch that my mother had fashioned for me, to collect the ingredients to keep the Children of the Alliance alive. Without the life-sustaining potion, the Children would die. So, through pain, depression, sickness, or whatever life threw at me, I got up and went on for them.
I had done this for as long as I could remember.
Heart broken and confused, Bug Martin is left standing on the front porch as she watches Tobias Keogh walk away from what she thought was a developing relationship. Still, Bug is determined to go on—if only for the Children of the Alliance. However, when she falls ill on the night of harvest, she soon learns that avoiding the Keoghs, especially Tobias, is nearly an impossible task.
For the first time Bug’s life holds purpose. Now all she has to do is find a way to piece together the fragments of her shattered heart and mind, fight off jealousy, and come to terms with the fact that she may never be able to remember the ‘one thing’ that Tobias wishes she could.
And then, in the end, when the lies become truth, Bug faces a difficult decision. Will she run…or will she forgive?
Spun is a Young Adult Paranormal, Suspense Romance set in South Haven, Michigan.
When it seemed like I was only an F away from flunking out of the sixth grade, a retired schoolteacher took me under her wing. After some tutoring and testing, she informed my parents that the reason I was having trouble in school wasn’t that I was dumb but instead dyslexic. When my stepfather heard this, he decided to take me to a used bookstore with the belief that the best way to improve my reading skills was to read. Some of the books were hard to get through at first, but with his encouragement, I refused to give up. We made many trips to that bookstore, and I especially loved the science fiction and fantasy sections. Then one day, after complaining about the ending of a particular book, my stepfather told me that if I didn’t like the books that I had been reading, then to write one myself—so I did.
My first attempt resulted in a horribly written western when I was fourteen, staring a cocky gun-slinging cowboy by the name Curt Calhoun. Curt along with his seven brothers, who all shared C names in common, may never have seen the pages of a book, but that was the day I started writing, and never stopped.

WOW... WHAT AMAZING 2ND BOOK OF THIS SERIES... SHAWN REILLY HAS DONE IT AGAIN... SHE GETS YOU SO HOOKED READING HER BOOKS... IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE FIRST BOOK "BUG"... IT'S A MUST READ BEFORE THIS GREAT BOOK...
When the first book in this this series ("Bug") was completely read, I have to admit that I cried. It was then that I knew the true meaning of the term "book withdrawal". When "Spun" came out you can bet I jumped on it, and again now, I'm in serious "book withdrawal". It's like only yesterday I finished the first book, this one picked up and never skipped a beat. I need to know if Brandy and Tobias were going to make it, or if Brandy would die at the hands of someone diabolical. Shawn Reilly's ability to build the personalities of her characters is amazing! You just can't help but become one with the characters as if you're truly there. Running through the woods on Harvest night, keeping ahead of Nathaniel and the others, and then dealing with her stalker is just one of the many adventures that Brandy has. I highly recommend this book!!
I can't wait to start the next and last in this series, but I don't want it to end either. I have enjoyed every bit of it. This story is so different, but yet it is familiar on so many levels. It's a different genre but it's still the life, love, family, and struggles we all face. Brandy and Tobias are perfectly matched and i'm excited to read the rest of their story. I highly recommend this book to everyone.
After I finished Bug, I couldn't wait for the next installment to come out. I wanted more of Bug and her story. Spun did not disappoint. It picked up right where I was left wanting more. I was again transported into the story and couldn't put it down. Another great work by Shawn Reilly. I'm so looking forward to the conclusion of the trilogy.
Once again Shawn Reilly has blown me out of the water with her amazing characters and imaginative story lines....How does she come up with this stuff!!?! :) This story just keeps getting better....I can't wait for next book in this series to come out!!
