Klondike Gold Rush #3

Klondike Fever

Sexy Mountie Dylan Wayburn is having a bad day. Disguised as a drifter, he fetches up in the same stagecoach as Lily Cromwell, a beautiful redhead who was once a family servant. She could blow his cover sky-high. Then their stagecoach is held up at gunpoint—because everyone knows that Lily has struck gold.

Pretending to be married to search for the gang who've stolen Klondike Lily's fortune leaves Dylan very, very close to the woman he should protect. He'll try and fight the flames of his desire…but how can he ignore the full lips begging to be kissed?

Klondike Fever was a good read. Enjoyed the Canadian - Mountie connection, which is a nice change from my typical historical western location and characters. My wish? That there was more adventure and interaction with the Mountie / outlaw throughout the book. Will be starting Weston's story (Western Weddings Anthology) next...

I think the reason I mainly liked this book is because of the atmosphere of the Old West & uncharted territory. I didn't quite understand the attraction between the main characters & the fact that he liked her when he was 21 & she was 15 was a little disturbing to me, no matter what was acceptable back then. Thank goodness they were both of age when their passion really kicked off. Disappointing that they decided not to go after Klondike Lily's gold, considering she was supposedly the richest person there. They felt love was all they needed - I guess that's why it's a work of fiction.

I love Kate Bridges. She writes historical romances where you never have to roll your eyes at purple prose. (Well, rarely, anyway.) There's always some sort of mystery, some adventure, some tension and, very importantly, a Paul Gross-lookalike Mountie with Slings & Arrows hair. You just can't go wrong! I've yet to dislike a book she's written. Good times, great writing.
