I gave this book two stars only because it had some excellent ideas. Unfortunately, those ideas are either not well fleshed out or housed in fantasy-writing cliches.
It's so frustrating that every single character ends up falling for another every time they interact (sexually or romantically). Each dragon's color is described over and over and over like a list we've just read for the first time. Each chapter is supposedly a focus on a single character's perspective (third person), but they're descriptions of the others just make no sense with what we've previously read and especially with how long they've actually known each other. And finally, perhaps a pet peeve of mine, I can't stand that the word "babe" is substituted for baby every single time it's written (and it's written a lot).
It's a real pity this was written with so much lack of originality, because the ideas (or sparks of ideas) are interesting and often original. I just wish the ideas had been given to a better writer.
I really, really wanted to like this storyline. The basic premise was so appealing and had so much potential; but unfortunately it fell so flat. Characters were one dimensional, verbiage dreary and repetitive, story line underdeveloped and predictable, leaps in logic, gaps in fundamental background (do I really have to say more?) I only rated it as high as three because the basic concept was interesting and showed creativity. Too bad the story never fleshed out to really make a meaty story.
I love this book, these books, I just finished the trilogy.
It's so addictive, I was drawn into the characters whose lives were so unfairly abused. Then, slowly, they met others who were like them, and they became strong through friendship and love. That strength lead to rebellion, which lead to such tragedies😿. The deaths were very personal to me, I am still mourning two of them. Not to give anything else away, but just want to share that there is a happy ending. Hang in there, you will be glad you did! 😻
This was the third trilogy I read by the same author on the same theme. I love the first one was Luke warm on the second and a little bored on the third. Perhaps I read them too close together because by the third trilogy it seemed like the same story repeated with different characters Maybe I will read a few other books before I start another one by this author. Great stories but just too much of a good thing.
Great book frustrating slow at times but worth dragging ones eyes through the slow dragging parts of the story to pounce suddenly on a fast and gritty story. The twists and turns of the story never say what the light or the falling was but as you read, read between the lines as the answer is there.
Enjoyed the journey. Had a feel of Game of Thrones and the dragons. I enjoy knowing good should prevail maybe that's why I stayed away from novels that are not uplifting.
This has to be one of the saddest, yet most inspiring, tales I've ever read. Persecuted, decimated almost to the point of extinction, the weredragons overcome unimaginable loss, despair and destruction and rise to reclaim their kingdom. Fabulous read!
Great job and definitely going to read the other requiem books. Great story lines and characters. Would love to see more in line with these ones with the same characters.
An interesting story about intra-family rivalries, jealousy, and fratricide. After a fast start , we feel that we know all about the hero’s dual nature and the story settles on the family battles.
I love dragons & this trilogy doesn't disappoint. I found myself really caring about the characters in these books. Just wish I had found these sooner.
DNF You know, I understand that drama rests upon suffering but the sacrifice this MC made wasn't his to pay. Instead, his loved ones paid. That's not good drama imo. It taints whatever comes after.

This book was absolutely FANTASTIC. I loved reading this because of the magic, dragons and mythical creatures. To me there was some plot twists and unexpected moments. It was hard for me to put the book down. Every night I would stay up late just to continue reading. Daniel did an amazing job describing the landscape, dragons and mythical creatures. I am definitely a fan of him now.
I have always been a big fan of Daniel's writing since reading the first book of his dragon trilogies. I found them original, exciting and for me immensely readable. Once I had read them all in order book by book on my Kindle, I then bought every trilogy in paper back and they sit proudly on my book shelves. When he recently brought out his latest 'Requiem' trilogy; although I had the first two already on my Kindle I bought it - all 637 pages of it. I was really looking forward to begin reading too.
Although there is still much to enjoy, if you like me find dragons fascinating' by the time I was approaching halfway through this latest trilogy I began to feel disappointed. Yes the characters have depth and I could empathise with their conflicting emotions et al. The epic 'good versus evil' themes are all there once more but I eventually began to flag. Perhaps this was because I tackled the full trilogy rather than one book at a time? All I can say is that I found the everlasting battles were becoming so repetitive. So small a number of dragons fighting immense armies of the enemy, yet continually escaping with horrific injuries which once the dragons returned to human form seemed to be fairly minor injuries. How many more times could they win? No matter how injured the dragons were they found time for what I can only describe as lustful sex disguised as love. I found Gemini's sudden change from an evil destroyer and torturer to someone who loved in a frankly unbelievable way. It didn't ring true.I found myself skimming pages more and more towards the latter part of the trilogy and very tired of the battle descriptions which all seemed to proceed and end in the same way. For example one dragon won a battle against a huge army! Hmmmm. How many times could evil escape justice?
Some of the horrendous torture scenes were bestial and most unpleasant to read about. One last comment - ' Too repetitive and in general over the top' He says he is planning more of the same. I am not so sure I will buy any new ones as I struggled to finish this one. I did so just to find out how things ended. The ending was really weird and for me beyond belief. Not the best of the series.
OMG, I am so addicted to the Dragons of Requiem. What can one say about such another FANTASTIC Requiem story. Once again the dragons of Requiem must go through numerous trials and tribulations just to survive in a world where the people in power try to destroy them completely. And once again, Daniel Arenson was written a completely new story with new characters that grabbed my reading attention. And as usual with one of Daniel’s stories, it was very hard to put it down, turn off the light and go to sleep. This is a MUST read for anyone who is interested in dragons!!
I started these because I love reading about dragons. I continued because I came to love and hate the characters, each for different reasons. Sometimes the evil seemed too evil just for the sake of being evil, but there were layers that made it more believable, more understandable.
I'm never disappointed by Daniel Arenson's gift of writing.
He creates beautiful worlds that your minds eye can see vividly. His characters are well developed and you become completely involved in. I recommend to all who love to visit another world to escape to. I have several of Danielle's Requiem books and can not get enough of.
Yet again, another great tale in the land of Requiem. I'm running out of things to say about these books. I laugh, I cry, I get angry, I feel fear. Every emotion you can think of, is brought out in these books. This one no less than the previous ones. Again, excellent job.
Really enjoyed the first trilogy of Requiem. Read them in record time. Can not wait to read the rest of these books. The characters are interesting the story is captivating all in all you must read these books.
The series was ok but could have been better. Some of the character development was a bit off. One character in was evil then nothing but pathetic and another was a hero that wasn't very likable. Still I kept reading to see where things ended up.
