Elisabetta Gnone is an Italian writer. In April 2001, she co-created the Italian comic/magazine W.I.T.C.H. with Alessandro Barbucci and Barbara Canepa. The publication was later made into the television series of the same name. Gnone also wrote the children's trilogy Fairy Oak: Il segreto delle gemelle (The Secret of the Twins), L'incanto del buio (The Spell of Darkness), and Il potere della luce (The Power of Light). She expanded the Fairy Oak Universe with four more books, "The four mysteries": "Captain Grisam's love", "Shirley's wizarding days", "Flox smiles in autumn", and "Good-bye Fairy Oak".

I'm a very nostalgic person. Reading this brings a warmth to my heart that takes me back to being 12 years old and loving these comics, reading this book over and over.
It's a very solid start to a great story, establishing characters and their personalities very well and introducing the world, the powers and the stakes without giving it all straight away.
It's really pitiful that, in the public eye, WITCH were considered (and, unfortunately, sold as) a girly franchise. The comics tell a very interesting story that can be enjoyed by any fan of fantasy and adventure, gender notwithstanding.

The best comic ever, hands down
There is not other amazing story that could beat this one!! The friendships, the magic, the art, the dialogues, everything is amazing from this comic. Hay Lin will alway be my fave but Will is coming really close to that first place 😍😍 now I want to reread them all in a whim because my love for it is huuuuge 💜💜

Estas foram as primeiras e únicas revistas que colecionei fielmente enquanto foram publicadas em Portugal. Durante anos, reuni todas as edições (mensais e especiais) das W.I.T.C.H. e, a par com elas, muitos dos livros e merchandising que foi sendo vendido.

Hoje apeteceu-me reler esta graphic novel que compila uma edição especial (The Year Before) e os dois primeiros números da revista (Halloween e The Twelve Portals) apresentando-nos a história destas 5 adolescentes, dando-nos a conhecer as suas personalidades e contextualizando-nos neste novo universo mágico de Kandrakar.

Como sempre, adorei reler o início desta aventura que acompanhei durante muitos anos e cresceu em mim uma vontade gigante de reler todos os episódios novamente! Não só porque parecia estar a ler como se fosse a primeira vez e então as emoções borbulhavam sem parar, mas também porque a escrita não é nada infantil, é divertida e a arte é absolutamente maravilhosa!

Guardo memórias inexplicáveis desta série e, ainda hoje, nos mais diversos momentos, surgem pop-ups na minha memória de alguns dos quadradinhos que mais me marcaram. Hoje, esta leitura, foi como reencontrar uma antiga amiga!

Sem dúvida, o meu maior e mais prazeroso guilty pleasure literário!
