I was drawn into this story immediately. The characters are well developed and the main character, Terra, is a strong protagonist with the right balance of strengths and weaknesses to make her very believable and likable. The author does a great job with stream of consciousness, letting the reader inside Terra's mind as she struggles with making difficult decisions about how to handle the Surtu, the alien race that humans are at war with.I was a bit shocked at how early erotica appeared in the story, but it fit well with the plot as the alien Jidden quickly gained a strong mental hold over Terra.

My only gripe is that this story was serialized instead of released as a single novel as we have to wait for the other installments.

I read this story as part of the Myths and Magic boxset. While I knew all the stories in the boxset could contain adult content, I found this story excessively sexual, detracting from the actual story - which had the potential to be really good. Disappointing, and I won't be reading any more books in that series.

A great start to a new series. Jidden and Terra`s are enemies with an incredible attraction between them but with lies and deception from the off do they stand a chance? Can`t wait for part 2. I received an advance reader's copy in exchange for an honest review.
