I had to lose my V-plates at some point; it might as well be with Caiden Ramsden.

Just one night. No dating, no dinner, no small talk. Just sex, and lots of it. Caiden was a cocky, arrogant jerk, who knew his ripped, tattooed muscles drove women crazy. In other words, he was exactly the type of bad boy I should stay well away from.

I’m a high-achieving student on my way to the University of Cambridge; I’m not supposed to “do” anyone, let alone an arsehole like Caiden.

At least I never had to see him again. Or so I thought.

Now Caiden’s sitting in my living room with a big announcement. He’s my new stepbrother, and he’s here to make my summer a living hell.

Our one night together was better than I liked to admit. I knew I’d end up in bed with him again soon. What I didn’t know was that he would turn my world upside down in the process.

This is a standalone novel with a HEA and no cliffhanger. Contains scenes of a sexual nature and is intended for adults only.

Pretty good book. I normally love step-sibling romances, so I'm happy when I find a new one that I have a hard time putting down. There's a pretty big twist that was good! Gave me goosebumps. I liked both Caiden and Vicky, especially how the author gave us both points of view. The dislike and bickering that was triggered when they found out about their new relationship was entertaining! The romance that stemmed from it was just as good! I absolutely love steamy scenes, and they are most definitely needed in the books I read, but I majority of this book's scenes ended up being hard, angry sex. Not that I'm not a fan, but there just needs to be more variety! I would have been okay with more scenes, as well! A lot were a past-tense brief overview. Anyways, I look forward to reading more books by Jessica Ashe!

Can Caiden a 19 year old playboy get hooked on a 18 year old virgin that made him break his own rules? Vicky might be brought up with a unloving controlling father, passed on mother and a loving 'aunt', not blood related aunt but Gemma was Vicky's mum's best friend and looked out for Vicky and made sure she felt loved, so in my book that's an aunt- but Vicky might act prime and proper but she will be the complete opposite with reserve. Will Caiden brake Vicky from her innocent shell and bring out the women that's been wanting to be her own person.

This is the first time in quite a while that I've decided to write a review for the sake of it and not because I've been granted an ARC through any network. But I think this book deserves it and so here it goes...

There was a phase when I enjoyed reading about step-brother romances a lot. They used to be one of my favourite kinds of books. These days, I feel like the stories repeat themselves, simply because yeah... There are only so many options you have with this topic. Anyway. Escape started off totally differently from any of the other step-brother romances I've read in the past. The two characters already had their interaction and we only get to read about flashbacks to that one particular night. Back then, they didn't know what their parents had in mind. They didn't even know their parents knew each other. So it all comes down as a shock when Caiden's mom and Victoria's dad announce their engagement.

This story had a lot of potential. Like, really. A LOT! But honestly, the flashbacks were way sexier than when the two characters were drawn to each other again. I liked their fights and Caiden seemed like another swoon-worthy bad boy. Until he didn't. I never understood his change of heart toward the end of the book. It didn't fit his character. No change was described, it just suddenly happened and I didn't feel it. Same with Victoria, a posh English girl. Where did all her shyness go? Clearly, just because you have sex with a bad boy, doesn't mean you're suddenly someone else entierely.

And then there was Victoria's background story. That was a surprise. I kind of liked the twist, but she got over the news so fast. I couldn't believe it. "Oh, what? It's not like I thought. Well, I'll cry for a second and then forget about it." That's what it felt like to me. I hated her then. I really did. And any emotions towards the characters is good emotion, right? It connects you with the book. At that point, I wante dto disconnect, though. I liked 60% of it and then I didn't anymore. And I got sad over that. Caiden didn't even have a background story. I didn't mind that that much, though. He was a good enough bad boy, no need to dig for any history that isn't there.

Reading about cooking is another thing I never enjoy. So, it's not the author's fault, but whenever I got to a scene in which Victoria talked about cooking, was in love with cooking or prepared something, I'd yawn. I mean, it's good the girl got a hobby. Way too few shy girls in romance novels got a real hobby. All they ever do is obsess over their love interest, so Victoria was a nice change to that. But I'd have wanted something else for her.

I pointed out a lot of things that I didn't like, but overall, I would still recommend this book to certain groups of readers, because the writing was very, very good. If you love surprising plot twists, hot alpha males and are interested in reading about an American guy and an English girl (the chapters are written in American and British English, which was fun!), this one should be on your list.

I'm a little undecided on the number of stars here. For me, it was a four-star read up until somewhere past 60 %. It definitely had a twist that I did not see coming, but I'm not entirely sure how I felt about it. It had the opportunity to turn the story into a completely different one, and in a way I'm relieved it didn't. In fact, there were a couple of plot points that had the potential to change the story, and I'll discuss these and other things after this brief warning. SPOILER ALERT!

All in all, it was a nice enough read. I'm sure plenty of people will love it.

Overall, I enjoyed this novel. I preferred the second half to the first half – there was just something about the writing style that didn’t sit quite right with me, but I liked how the story developed.

Victoria trades her V-card in with known player, Caiden, who broke his own rules and slept with a virgin. She had a memorable night with him but glad that she won’t see him again.

A week later, Caiden turns up in her home town and on her doorstep. Turns out her dad and his mum are getting married!

Victoria’s mum was in a crash a few years earlier and lives with her sister. Victoria rarely sees her but speaks to her via phone every couple of weeks, during an allotted time slot. She’s just finished school and has been accepted into Cambridge to do a high brow, serious degree, following in her demanding father’s footsteps. However, her dream is to be a chef. Caiden’s mother is a celebrity chef who Victoria admires, but her rise to fame is somewhat questionable.

As the story unfolds, we see Caiden unable to deny his desires and feelings for Victoria. Victoria can’t forget her night with him but determined not to overstep boundaries since he’s about to become her stepbrother. He eventually wears down her resolve and they embark on a summer to remember.

As the summer progresses, damaging secrets come to light, and we also see Victoria break out of her good girl persona and come into her own.

I liked how Caiden found Victoria irresistible and the fun they had together. I enjoyed Victoria’s personal growth as the story progressed. The main revelation was wholly unexpected, which made the story really interesting, and I really enjoyed the final chapters.

So in England we have the sexually inexperienced Victoria going up to the American Caiden, known for his sexual prowess, and asking him to take her. She's tired of being the only virgin among her friends, and wants to not only get it over with, but figures going to someone with experience makes sense. She can't stand his arrogance, and he can't believe she's always so buttoned up, but they both figure one night of passion, then they'll never see each other again.

Fast forward one week later, and who does Victoria run into on the front steps of her father's house? None other than her one-night stand Caiden. She walks into her house and that's when the bombshell is dropped--Caiden is to be her new step-brother.

Caiden is arrogant, does what he wants, speaks his mind, and does so in a colorful way not caring if it's in front of her or their parents. Victoria is the opposite--she's going to college to pursue a degree in what her father wants, she's never one to back talk, and she wouldn't dream of standing up for herself to him. As they are now forced to spend the summer under one roof, the two of them just hope it is over quickly so they can get away from each other.

How quickly the tide turns with that wish! Their back and forth banter full of innuendo helps them to build a relationship with each other and they can't deny their attraction for long. But there is more going on behind the scenes besides them sneaking around her father's house. Can't give that away because it kind of threw me for a loop, but it was a great part of the story I didn't see coming. Sure the step-brother thing may lure you in, but the rest of the story is what will get you to stay.

Although I didn't find this book completely captivating, it did keep me reading. I didn't feel emotionally involved with the characters at all though, so when the twist was revealed towards the end, I just felt it was a little unbelievable. I would've liked to have seen more character development and there were a few bits of dialogue that just seemed a little silly. Plus I felt like the story was rushed to fit into one book. The author, in my opinion, could've included more backstory, maybe some more secondary characters and gotten the reader emotionally involved more and had two books from the story.
However this won't stop me reading other books by this author.

I gave it my standard 3 star, liked it on goodreads and 4 stars liked it on amazon.

After reading "Redemption" another Step-brother romance by Ashe I was so impressed with it I had to give "Escape" a read. Like "Redemption" I enjoyed it. Although, I'm sure I was supposed to be blindsided by the big reveal however, I was expecting it. Where I would have only given the story two stars on goodreads and three stars on amazon the author managed to keep me entertained and that is the joy of reading in its basic form. Now I'm going to out Ashe's other stepbrother romance novel "Score".

Great book with two bonus novels

I have to say I really liked Victoria and Caidens story. They met at a night club and had a one night stand. Two weeks later they found out they would be step siblings. Now Victoria is fighting the attraction and Caiden is making sure she knows that he exsists.
As for the other two novels, they were ok. The grammar and spelling was good. In the beginning of the book, the author warns that she will be using England grammar for one of her characters. I highly recommend this book.

This is the first book I've read by Jessica - it won't be the last!

I loved the humour between Caiden & Victoria, I did hope for a bit of insight as to the relationship between Caiden and his mum. However that didn't deter from being a really great read. The Sparks that flew between this pair was really well written.

It was a fun story with just enough of everything to keep you going.
A little bit of mystery, a little bit of sabotage, a whole lot of sexual tension and chemistry, and even a white knight...

So enjoy the ride...

I was gifted a copy for an honest review.

I received an ARC for an honest review.
Totally enjoyed this book. I love the way Victoria trys to stay away from Caiden. Especially after finding out he was going to be her stepbrother. The way bad boy Caiden trys to act like it's just sex.
If you want a book with sex, romance, and some mystery then here's the book!

This was my first venture into the writings of Jessica Ashe and I must say that I was thrilled with what I found! I can't wait to sink my teeth into another one of her juicy tales. I loved the relationship Victoria had with her 'bad boy' stepbrother and the sex - although sometimes over-the-top - was definitely hot. Add this one to your list of summer reads!!

I was actually surprised at how much I liked this book. This kind of book is usually not dark enough for my taste but I decided to read it any way. Once I started it I didn't want to put it down. I like watching the way Caiden and Vicky interacted and loved watching their relationship develop.

No review necessary. This book is a guilty pleasure. It's like watching Keeping Up With the Kardashians and Jersey Shore kind of shame, but you just can't turn away.
