This might just be my new personal favourite smut-tastically porn-y, M/M ménage-a-whatever story.
The events that take place in Take Your Pick are totally unrealistic, but it’s so deliciously filthy that I kind of didn’t care how believable the situation was.
Basically, you have college student Peter, who is openly gay and who has been secretly crushing on his five best-friends and housemates for more years than he can count. Peter’s always assumed they were straight, but after he gets caught getting his rocks off to a home video of them all hanging by the lake, he’s surprised when they give him a tasty proposition worthy of his most detailed sexual fantasies. Over the next five days, Peter can spend each day with one of his friends, doing whatever he wants – sexual or not.
This could have just been one big smut-fest, and yes, it was exploratory sex here, there and everywhere, but somehow, to my utter surprise and delight, Welsh managed to carve out six distinct, likeable characters, and made me truly care about each and every one of them, all while the sexual exploits played out around them!
Take Your Pick is hot, fun and well-written, and I have no doubt I will return to this one whenever I need some porn-y goodness to get me through the day.

It was hot and all, but it felt like I was watching a 3 hour porn movie. Starring the same guy with different partners, on different settings. Then on the last part, they will all have sex together. Lol. This will probably not happen in real life.

It's a good thing the cover already labels it a 'sexual fantasy', because frankly, even Jana Down's MMMMMM Angel series (which was great, btw) was more realistic than this...

A hot and steamy tale with a surprisingly romantic and emotional connection between all the characters. I LOVED how even the friend that didn't want "sex" with Pete managed to have an intimate encounter, making Pete feel loved anyway. I really didn't see how this kind of thing was gonna work, but the author manages to do it and do it well. It's not the ending I expected either but it totally fits.
(Bonus points for the lazy day Firefly marathon.)

I almost can't believe I'm giving a book like this 5 stars, but it so totally deserves it! The author set up the premise perfectly, and then carried it out 100%. Everything so completely works... the characters, the dialogue, pacing - everything. It was wonderful!

La fantasía de muchos plasmada en un relato corto y con descripciones muy detalladas, y es que bueno, que chico Gay ¿no se ha llegado a enamorar y/o querer tener sexo con alguno de sus amigos y/o con su mejor amigo heterosexual? Y quien me diga que nunca lo he pasado, perdón pero no le creería jajaja, debo admitir que bueno a mí me paso alguna vez jajaja pero esa es otra historia. He leído reseñas donde algunas personas lo aman, o lo contrario, odian a este libro y lo tachan prácticamente de que es la novelizaciòn de un guion para película porno y ok les concedo eso, porque el hecho de que pase algo así en la vida real es escasamente remoto pero bueno es un libro, es ficción y aparte es homoerotico, no sé por qué algunos se quejan de que tiene muchas descripciones tan detalladas, no recuerdo que se hayan quejado de eso por ejemplo con mmm “50 sombras de Grey” o ¿sí? Jajaj simplemente si no es de su agrado pues no lean este tipo de libros.
En fin, lo que encontramos aquí es un relato corto donde nos presentan a Peter un chico gay que vive con sus 5 mejores amigos (Mario, Nate, Ross, Tony y Devon) de los cuales está completamente enamorado y a los cuales también les trae ganas desde prácticamente siempre, ¿el problema? Jajaj que son heterosexuales y obviamente imposible que estén interesados en nuestro querido chico virginal Peter, pero todo cambia cuando lo encuentran masturbándose viendo un video de estos último y al día siguiente de esto, todos estos chicos tienen una propuesta interesante para nuestro protagonista la cual no podrá rechazar. Un tanto ¿surrealista? SI ¿ridículo? SI. Pero cumple con el objetivo que es entretener, enganchar al lector y hacer que le de calor jajaja por qué bueno también me paso, es homoerotico” Dah! simplemente me encanto, lo admito, me hizo reír, sentir incertidumbre junto al protagonista y encariñarme con algunos de estos chicos imaginarios que bien me gustaría tener amigos así en la vida real jajaja lo único con lo que no estoy de acuerdo y que en libros como estos deberían de fomentar los autores es que en toda relación sexual tienen que usar condón, porque aquí no lo presentan de manera fácil y como si no importara pero hay que ser realistas y darnos cuenta y ser conscientes de todas las enfermedades que existen hoy en día. Take Your Pick is an erotic short story that delivers on the heat, but also surprised me by going further. Yes, we have lots of sex as Peter tries things out with each of his five roommates. He explores a whole lot of fun stuff over the course of the week and there are lots of sexy times. But I’ll admit I was pleasantly surprised that Welsh takes things deeper and gives us a solid short story to go along with the erotic side. With five roommates, the guys could have all become muddled together, but we get at least a basic sense of all of these men, their personalities, and their sexual interests. Their encounters with Peter all take on a bit of a different tone as each of them explores some of themselves in addition to being there for Peter. Without being too heavy handed, Welsh highlights the idea of ranging sexualities and self identities as these young men explore with each other. And then of course, there are the sexy times, which are fun and well done. I enjoyed Peter, who is both bold and kind of terrified, caught between having everything he wants but also kind of overwhelmed by it all.
There are still some issues here, again as the primary focus is on the erotic end of things. These guys are all incredibly loving, open minded, and sensitive young men in ways that are wonderful, but maybe not totally realistic. They are in college, but none seem to be encumbered at all by classes or jobs, able to take days to just lay around having sex and cuddling. I also wish more had been addressed about Peter’s romantic feelings toward these guys. He says he is in love with all five of them (yes, you have to just go with it), but the HEA doesn’t end up involving them all. I wanted to know how Peter was handling the fact that he is in love with some of them, but not having a relationship with them beyond friends (or possibly friends with benefits, although that is not really stated either way).

October 10, 2015I'm leaving a review but not rating it otherwise it would be something daft like 2.5 stars, I don't like doing that and it's not fair.
Please don't go into this one thinking it's a classic piece of fiction, it isn't. I absolutely LOVED My Summer of Wes by the same author and even You and a Billion Blue Tiles got 4 stars from me, sad to say that even though this is only a fictional 45 page quickie, the plot is just totally unbelievable.
You see my tags up above? I have m/m AND m/m/m, and that's cos 5 other 'straight' guys are involved in this story other than Peter and the tags indicate how the story pans out. I'm not saying any more other than yes, I know it's erotica, and that already means it's waay beyond fictional but I was expecting a little bit more from Missy, probably too much and that's my bad. Can only try again next time, sorry.

Completely nuts, waaaay over the top and PWP for sure, but you know that going into it, when you've read the blurb, so no complaining there.
My only complaint: It could have been naughtier and dirtier for that. Pete was a bit tame with his wishes at first, but some of the boys at least got a little more creative and that last grand finale kind of made up for it. Me likey! Especially Ross and Nate. I pictured him like the Nate from Gossip Girl. Hot. Fucking hot!

I went into this book expecting quite a bit of sex and not much else. I think the book ended up being really sweet though. You have Pete being attracted to and loving his five housemates. Then you have the five housemates coming up with a plan to be with Pete. What more could you ask for in a sexy romp. Well, that would be emotion.
This book wasn't just sex. It was Pete discovering who he was actually in love with and his housemates sharing part of themselves with Pete they hadn't before. It had really cute moments where I caught myself grinning because of some of the characters antics. It also had some moments where I felt for Pete and how embarrassed he was when his housemates found out he liked all of them.
In the end, I enjoyed my time reading this book. I didn't think I would as much as I did. I basically picked this book to fulfill a challenge. It ended up being something that I will probably reread in the future.

This is not quite what I expected.
I thought this would be really porny, silly fun, but it isn't. Well, it is kinda silly and not all bad, but the sex scenes are kinda short and very straight-forwardly written. They also pretty basic, nothing really out there or creative. A blowjob in the cinema and a spit roast are the most adventurous stuff that happens. I kinda expected wild, all day sex orgies and that is not what you get at all.
It also feels that the author was trying to play this one straight. It's trying to be romantic and emotional, which feels very wonky in this setup, especially since the story keeps changing. First he's in love with all 5, then just with 2 of them. Actually, I reads basically like fan fiction, now that I think about it.

Honestly? Extremely unrealistic, not only in the plot (I love fantasy, so I don't care) but also how? Spit is TERRIBLE lube. I'm not even fucking with you right now, it's BAD. Also, for guys to be that accepting of their newfound sexuality is even more unrealistic, I liked the plot, I liked the idea, I just think it could have been done better and with more taste.

Quick, sweet read!
This was short but still packed a punch. There was character development, enough for the intent of the book, and I really liked all the guys. This was definitely erotic but had a sweetness to it as well!
