Paths We Walk

At forty-one, Roxie Whitson is content with her life. She’s got a decent job, some good friends, and she’s moved past the divorce that her husband asked for so abruptly years ago. There is still the occasional nightmare stemming from the suicide of a school friend, but even those are now few and far between. Unfortunately, life sometimes throws a curveball, and it’s pitched Roxie a doozie. Her boss has eliminated her position, and there’s an unwelcome phone call from her mom, asking that Roxie close out her great-aunt’s estate in her hometown. Being back in Derry, Tennessee, is even more unsettling for Roxie than she could have imagined. She meets three men; all of whom have a part in shattering her sense of control, but for vastly different reasons. The old ghost of her childhood friend is not as easily laid to rest as she had hoped, and she ultimately finds herself grappling with the consequences of a desperate act that threatens to haunt her for years to come.

I wrote my first book, Broken Road, after thinking about a single idea for 20 years. In March 2010, I began writing the story and the characters took over from there. It was the most incredible experience for me to take dictation while the characters wrote the story.

I had decided there would be a single novel, but the characters were constantly invading my thoughts until I told them I would kill them all in an explosion if they didn't leave me alone....They called my bluff. I finished the sequel, Full Circle, in June 2012.

Flash forward to the pandemic in 2020. I had not written anything in eight years but felt the pull to completely overhaul the first novel, Broken Road. The slash and trash included the title, and now that first novel is titled Paths We Walk.

While doing revisions, a third story in the series began to take shape. I finished The Path Home in May 2021.

I immediately felt close to the wonderful characters and could barely put the book down. Each character is strong with great personalities and lots of integrity. The ending came way to soon and quite a surprise to me. I cannot wait to read the sequel and reconnect to Cole's life and Caleb's recovery. Because " Love always trusts and always hopes and always endures "

You can find the eBook on Smashwords for $0.99. Okay, okay...I'm the author; objective I am not. But I really believe if you give these characters a chance, you will truly enjoy this story.

This book is truly amazing. The characters are real; noble, and flawed at the same time. I've read it several times and it just stands up to many readings. Each time, I feel like I've enjoyed the opportunity to visit these folks.

There are great twists throughout. The author does a great job of letting the story out a little at a time. And the ending is something I was not prepared for.
