They called him Connor HUGE. Connor Hughes slept his way through every girl in my high school. Except me. We hated each other. That arrogant jerk insulted me, tormented me, and ruined me without ever laying a finger on me. After graduating near the top of my class, I escaped to UCLA, got my degree, and threw myself into a career as a serious journalist. But I never forgot the damage Connor did. At least I’ll never have to see him again. Until my editor at Trending Magazine tasks me with writing a tell-all article about Connor. Turns out my insufferable bad boy nemesis grew into the ultra-gorgeous model whose perfect body steams up the covers of half the romance novels on the bestseller lists. Now I’m stuck shadowing him all weekend long at the world’s largest Romance Convention. I’m forced to watch in disgust as 45,000 women throw themselves at him and worship his shirtless body while he taunts me incessantly. We hate each other as much today as we did seven years ago. But I can’t stop stealing glances at his perfect abs and perfect everything else. My better judgment tells me to drop everything and run, but something deep inside me is dying to know if he’s as HUGE as the rumors… ***Cover Model is a steamy standalone with an HEA***

4.5 winning read!!!!

I'm not sure where to start with this sexy treat, so please forgive me if my review goes off course into a crazy rambling.

I'll admit I was totally shallow choosing this book. It has a totally lickable front cover that had me hot and flustered before I'd read a word. Lucky for me however, what started out as me being a dirty old lady, actually turned into a great book that wasn't just a pretty face.

Connor and Electra are the hero and heroine of the book. They went to high school together, where they had a love/hate relationship. Connor was the sexy manwhore who made Electra's life miserable because he really wanted her and she despised him. Electra was a bit of a school nerd with a seriously sharp tongue that had every word directed at Connor filled with venom. Its safe to say both these people are evenly matched.

Seven years later, Electra is a freelance journalist who's been sent to interview the mysterious book cover model who's body everyone wants but who's face has never been seen.
She doesn't want the story when sexy Abs is faceless and nameless, but when she finds Mr cover model to be a very naked Connor,(swoon and fan my overactive imagination)Electra wants it even less.

Seven years older, doesn't mean Wiser. Electra is still snapping and Connor is still lusting, which makes for a seriously Hot and Funny reading, my favourite!!!!!

Firstly, this book wasn't perfect. Electra can be a real bitch and Connor could be a real dick, but somehow they were perfect for each other. They wasn't always likeable but that made them more real because they made mistake.
As well as being an dick, Connor was charming, funny and fabulously dirty. He wants Electra desperately and the heat I got from that sizzled my senses.
Electra had me screaming mad sometimes, but she was strong and witty, she just needed the right person to open up to and have some fun.

There was more to this story than enemies to lovers. The humour that comes from their battle of words had me very happy, but there was some equally wonderful funny moments from other characters, such as Connors parents travel updates.
Connor past pain also adds another layer which unravels slowly through the story. There was a lot more to this man than Electra could ever imagine and these parts give you more of an insight as to why he keeps sabotaging their relationship. The ways the author write these scenes was moving one minute and had me crying with laughter the next. I can hand on my heart say that there is one conversation he has with his best friend and Electra that may well be one of the funniest things I've ever read. The fact that its at the end of a very sad and emotionally charged conversation, has me very impressed with this author and lead to me having a very awkward conversation with my kids as to why mommy has gone mad:)

The only really disappointing moment for me with this book was the end. There was a big time gap to the epilogue and there was still stuff to be sorted in there relationship. It did get dealt with, but it was quietly done. After all the ups and downs I was greedy and wanted it to be bigger. I know this may be unfair of me, but with all the tension and passion between these guys I wanted the big firework ending, with huge declarations of love and devotion. They do get there happy ending and its sweet, so that's the important thing, I'll have to be just satisfied with that.

This was a great read for me and I know I'll read it again. If you like you reads to be hot, funny, dramatic and hot!, then you can't go wrong with this.

This may work for you, but it did not work for me. My opinion and why it did not work for me. I could not connect. I think the author should have written the first 25% or of the book with the MCs in HS so I could see what really happened. I could not understand the hostility between these two. There was a flashback, but it was short. For once I wanted a flashback to last a few chapters so I could understand and connect. The story would have been good, but it was just missing something. The author was hinting that the hero was hiding something but it was dragged out. I do not even know when his secret was revealed. Maybe if I was given something that was happening or happened to the hero earlier in the story, I would be able to connect. Instead, the author wrote an entire scene with the hero and some "hot" chick he picked up the night before. Yes, I got it for the tenth time it was mentioned that the hero was a manwhore and I could care less that the hero liked attractive women and he was bored of blondes now so he switched to having sex with exotic looking women.

Well, what can I say ... Only another fanbloodytastic read from my favourite American author, Devon. Ladies (and gents ;-) ) this one is extremely HOT ... You have been warned.

Budding journalist Electra is given an assignment to interview a very sexy male model, whose identity has so far remained a secret, at a packed venue in a hotel. On turning up to the job, which she really didn't want to cover, she discovers the hunk is none other than her No. 1 school enemy, Connor Hughes - affectionately known by the hoards of girls bedded as Connor Huge!

After suffering years of verbal abuse by Connor and his pals, and arriving at his hotel room to find him otherwise engaged with yet another floosie, Electra has had enough and decides to quit the assignment ....

Connor, who slept with virtually the entire female population at school, always had a secret crush on Electra - sex with the others was just a pastime, he longed to get Electra between the sheets......

A very fast moving, steamy story which had me reaching for a cold flannel at the steamy bits and tissues for my tears ....

Another knock out Devon. Love all your books and great to see flamboyant Romeo make an appearance. Roll on the next book .....

Your No. 1 Somerset fan :-*

Oh wow Devon is back!! I loved this book, it had be hooked from the start! It had so much humour in it I was laughing most of the way through...the fact it had Romeo in it from Devon's first series was a bonus! He is hilarious and loved that he was in it!
This is about Electra, a journalist and Connor, a cover model for books. They went to school together, he made school life miserable for Electra and she was glad to never have to see him again!
Except her next assignment is to cover a Rom Com convention...Connor being the main attraction!
There is a lot said between them, he has always liked her but never said anything. There is definite chemistry between them no matter how much Electra tries to fight it!
The book is HOT, funny, sassy but it does have a couple of twists in that I never saw coming! I won't say too much because I don't want to give anything away but suffice to say I loved this book and I highly recommend it!

Cover Model by Devon Hartford 218 pages, 17 chapters + epilogue

Rating: 2 stars

Review:

I wasn't going to get this book, due to the heinous cover. Bronze shorts behind bright yellow text? What's with the wimpy dumbbells? *I* lift heavier weights than that ... and my shorts are longer, too. But it had 4.5 stars over 112 ratings and was written by an "Amazon Best-Selling Author." I thought it meant that the book would have a certain level of quality.

I was wrong.

First, the things I enjoyed: 1). The author named the cover model (Myles Leask) on the copyright page, so if you like the cover you can Pinterest stalk accordingly. 2). The book is told from both character's perspectives, so we get both sides of the story, as it were. I enjoy a shifting narrator.

Now for the things I did NOT enjoy:

By far the most irritating aspect of this novel is the hero's use of the word fuckin. Not fucking, with the g, but fuckin, without it. But the author never once uses the required apostrophe to make the word at least the more correct fuckin'. And this word is used more than TWO HUNDRED TIMES in as many pages. You think I'm exaggerating, but I did a search - that's a true number. It is maddening.
The book is written in the present tense. As in, "I slam into her harder and harder." Like the hero is talking to you while he's balls deep in the Brazillian model. It makes for a high ick factor as one reads. People need to just STOP IT with the present tense already. Seriously. First graders do that. There's zero benefit to present tense narratives over the more common past tense.
The hero, Connor "Huge" Hughes. Look, I'm no prude. I enjoy a hot sex scene as much as the next girl. I prefer open door sex in romances, to be honest. But the quote I used above? In the first page of chapter one! It is constant in this story. And not just sex, but cheap sex. Fuckin, as he'd say. The hero uses words like tits, cunt, shitty lays, slut, and more. Most of which he uses to describe the heroine. The hero is a romance novel cover model and goes through life screwing every woman he can get his hands on, trying to bury the memory of the one girl he never had - the heroine, Electra. Here's a tip, bud - if you can't give up the ghost after seven years of constant hookups, you need therapy - not more sex!
The heroine, Electra Warmoth. First off, her name is terrible. I get that Connor gives her loads of nicknames because of it, but it's seriously bad. Secondly, we are introduced to Electra as a no-nonsense, take no prisoners, dedicated and hard-hitting journalist. She puts her career first (far above her social life) and doesn't get thrown off her game easily. And yet at least four times she completely fails to interview Connor. Even when that career is put in jeopardy. Connor ends up talking to her boss for her to get her some time to complete the story.
And that's what I hate most of all about this book. In a romance I expect the characters to help each other out; I want them to make the other person better. Connor makes Electra so much worse. She goes from spitfire journalist to sexy times exhibitionist. They have public sex and or make out sessions several times. Including one scene on a photocopier at her job. The one she takes *so* seriously. And somehow they "accidentally" turn the copier on and take 500 pages of photos of their sex organs bumping away. If the author had EVER used a photocopier, he'd know that 500 copies would literally burn Electra's ass. NO ONE could sit on the glass with the hot light making 1,000 passes. It can't be done.

I call bullshit.

In the end, this book reads a lot like every other romance novel I have read that's written by a dude. Heavy emphasis on the sex, a complete miss in the emotional growth department, and a total disregard for the heroine's personality and character. It'd be infuriating if it wasn't so comically common. I have yet to read a romance novel written by a man that isn't exactly this way.

The only reason the book got two stars was because of the secondary character of Ryan. His friendship with Connor and his accident add a little bit of depth to Connor's character and tie the high school version of the three characters into their adult lives. It's not perfectly done (Connor never explains how Ryan's accident ended up pushing him into cover modeling, although it's implied), but at least an effort was made. His romance novel would be a much better read, I think.

I did also enjoy the description of the romance novel convention. Not only did I find that to be fairly accurate, but Connor was also his best self there. I appreciated that the author had him do his duty and treat the women at the convention in a respectful manner.

"Favorite" quote: "Being a slut is a lot more delicious than I realized."

So to sum up: this book was not worth my time, but it wasn't the worst book I've ever read. I don't recommend it, but you can at least get all the way through it if you pick it up.

This was a very good story. It was a full length standalone over 200 pages. You could connect to the characters and see how the process was growing and developing with a few twists. There were times I wanted to punch Connor the Male main characters, but in the end you could understand why. I have read other works by Devon and have liked them. So i would recommend this book as well as others to other people.
Overview: Electra aka Lex, was always picked on in school by Connor Hughe. She hated him so much for every prank he pulled. So when she graduated High School and went to college, she never pictured seeing him again. That is until she has to do a story about a cover model that has appeared on several Romance Novels. No one knows who the guy with with the ripped abbs is. When Lex shows up at the door knocking, Connor opens the door and is just as shocked to see her standing there as she is to see him standing in the door with a sheet around his lower body. Once that door was opened, they was no turning back. Connor is now on a mission to get the one girl he could never have, and Lex is on a mission to run away from him as fast as she can. But her boss keeps forcing her to finish the interview or be fired. Lex is determined to finish the interview but fight to keep her feelings and her body from Connor.

*I was provided a copy for an honest review*
I don't know whether to laugh or scream over this book. The last book I read by this author I truly enjoyed, this one however I didn't. This is well written, it is the story line that just fell flat for me. Here's my issue I am so tired of people teaching girls that if a boy is mean to you he must like you. NO! Just No! If a boy or man is mean to you odds are he is an asshole who you should stay away from. Connor is the biggest douche to Electra all through high school to the point he has the whole school making fun of her, but obviously that just means he must love her. After high school neither one saw each other for 7 years and that was a chance encounter when she has to interview him. At this point she is suppose to be a serious journalist, but when she is around him she turns into a 13 year old girl who I couldn't take serious. And the word rape and rapist is over used. Rape is not something you make light of! Now back to the story line, they end up banging of course they do and she basically falls in love with him even though she is still traumatized by everything he did to her in high school. This just was so unbelievable that it was annoying. I can't say I would ever recommend this book, but I'm sure someone will like it.

A nice romantic story about a woman writer who is assigned to do a story on a hunky stud who is a cover model for many romance novels but is just now going to actually reveal his face to the public. Lo and behold when she goes to do the interview she finds the popular guy in high school that bullied and shamed our writer relentlessly. She hates him (but crushes on him anyway and he has secretly crushed on her since high school).

The interview must be completed or the woman is going to lose her job. The back and forth of them getting close and then her remembering the past and storming out of the interview and then having to grovel her way back got really old. But there were some really steamy scenes and the picture drawn (in words) of our "Cover Model" would certainly motivate me to buy a book he was on.

4 Stars!!!

Firstly thank you Devon for gifting me a copy of this book.

I must admit I don't always read Romantic Comedies but I really enjoyed this read. The characters was really funny I loved the banter between Connor and Electra.

Although this book was funny and very sexy it was also sad at times, and at the end when a lot was revealed everything started to make sense.

I think the best part for me was the copy room scene I think that was hilarious. This is my first book by this author and I will definitely be reading more of his work .

Great work Mr Hartford.

Do you want a hot, steamy, faced paced, fun romance? This is the book for you! True to form, Devon delivers a set of unique characters tied up in a whirlwind of antics. Connor is a hunky cover model who has graced the cover of hundreds of book covers. Electra is the “nobody” from Connor’s high school who grew up to be a hottie reporter. When Electra discovers Connor is the guy she is supposed to interview for her latest article, old feelings are dredged up as well as new ones.

I love the way Devon goes back and forth between Connor and Electra telling parts of the story. His writing style gives the story a rounded perspective on the situation. You aren’t left feeling like you are missing out of part of the story, which often times happens. I knew there was something deeper going on with Connor, but I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. Subtle hints were dropped throughout the story without completely giving it away. Another kudos to the author for being able to keep the reader’s attention the whole way through.

Devon also throws in interesting plot twists at the right time. One thing I love about Devon’s writing is that he can write a fun light hearted romance and make it serious at the same time. He is always able to address tough situations in his books (like abuse, death, etc.) and interweave them into his stories. This makes his books very relatable to me. He brings real life situations into seemingly light hearted romances, and makes the reader sit back and think. This is proof that Devon is a fantastic novelist.

I absolutely loved the ending! I think that readers will get their HEA with this one. As usual, Devon gets 5 stars from me!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Devon Hartford is a new author to me. I was intrigued to read a romance novel, written (openly) by a male, and I have to say I enjoyed it! To me, the perspective and tone of the story was just a bit different – not in a bad way at all. It had a lot of grit as well but dang, there is an ocean of emotion in the characters!

I won’t recap the story for you as you can read the book however I will tell you that it was sexy, it was torture (to read about high school experiences that hit a wee bit close to home), it was poignant and it had humor. Most of all, though, it dealt with really deep feelings and old hurts that helped shape the two main characters: Connor Hughes and Electra Warmoth. Their journey is the story and it will grab you.

I thought it was hilarious that the author described a romance convention and hit all the points that I have personally seen at such events. And his secondary characters are a hoot! Romeo is hilarious and (to me) Connor’s agent Gloria is a woman I love to hate. I enjoyed the story with all its twists and turns.

This author amazes me! There's a certain skill needed to write a story that is hot, steamy, full of angst, is humorous and on top of it all - there's a story behind it. A story that makes your heart ache.

Yes, I found myself holding my breath. And laugh. And drooling. I loved the way this author mixed this story with the real world. The fact that Stepbrother Obsessed is mentioned in it (BTW, you seriously need to read this book!) had me smiling. Connor, a cover model for books and Electra, a journalist, went to school together. He made school life miserable for her and she was glad to never have to see him again!
Electra is now given an assignment to interview a very sexy male model, who happens to be just him! He never said anything to her but secretly he always wanted her. And now he has one more chance!

Now, as I said, this is a 'panties going soaking wet' read. You want to take Connor by his hand and let him make you his. But don't let that fool you. There's more than that!

I FLOVED IT!

When I saw the cover then read the synopsis of Cover Model, my first thought was, "Oh Devon, what were you thinking!!" But I've read several of this authors books & have always enjoyed them, so I decided to put aside my misgivings & give it a go. I'm was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed the story of Connor, Electra/Lexy & Ryan. It took a while for the whole story to come out; the characters were awkward with each other but settled into their roles & there was a definite attraction between Connor & Lexy. There were twists in the story & some unexpected background stories that all added to the unpredictable personality of Connor. In the end, it was a heartwarming story that could have been developed further, if the author so chooses. Not your everyday romance, worth reading.

Devon is and always has been one of my go to authors. Love his style of writing. Just enough angst with a lot of laughs and you wanting to slap someone and Cover Model is no exception

You start off hating Connor with a passion and slowly but surely you think you start to like him for him to turn back into a jerk, you cannot help but fall in love with him eventually though

Everyone can relate to Natalie and the years she spent suffering through high school. I know I can but you also feel as though her hate for Connor is a front my of know what they say love and hate are very similar emotions. Does she love him or does she hate him? Read it and find out

Another awesome read Devon

What can I say other than I totally loved this book! I mean you had me on the first sentence (They called him Connor HUGE LOL!). This book was funny, sad with just enough drama to keep you reading. Both characters will drive you nuts at times and Romeo cracked me up (I need a gay friend like him). Electra is my kind of chick and Connor all I can say is HOT DAMN!! The storyline kept me going it flowed together without too much details to scenery (I usually skip the details like colors of pillow and stuff like that). The dirty talk and the steamy part in this book had me fanning myself often. I am going to recommend this book to all my friends and I will definitely be rereading it again.

“Her and I are a bad idea.”

No. This book was.

I'll leave the other little grammar issues in the book for you to discover on your own :)

The H is a disrespectful, bullying manwhore. He thrives on humiliating the h. And (OF COURSE) the h is a doormat and, once he whips his dick out, she accepts and forgives him...actions are louder than interior monologue, honey.

Then in the last chapter of the book we learn his tragic reasoning.

Boo-Fucking-Hoo.

Ladies, we need higher standards for Heroes in this genre.

4 stars. I really liked this book and was recommended by me. I probably would have never picked this up if it was infront of me as the cover and title screams corny to me. It had more depth to it then a regular romance. It was like the school yard term "pick on the one you like" type of thing going on. I felt really saddened by Ryan's story but there was also some really positive stuff that came out of it. I say don't judge a book by its cover and give it a read.

Well this was better than I expected. I read a few reviews and I can definitely see the negative points that have been raised. But I also found it kind of cute. At least the last 30% or so. Over all, there was a lot of graphic sex and dirty talk. A lot of dirty talk. And I'm sure Connor's inner monologue was about sex pretty much 70% of the time.

So 3 stars. Nothing better, but also not as bad as I thought it would be.

Another awesome book by Devon Hartford

Connor notorious bad boy fell for Electra in high school but seven years pass when they see each other again and his feelings have not changed. Electra has hated Connor sense he tormented her in high school now she is face to face with him to do a interview. The tension is on real and sparks fly

I have to say that if the book was anything like the last 10-15% of it, it would have been the BOMB.
I liked the love/hate relationship between the characters but at moments it was soooo messed up and all over the place that I just couldn't focus on what was going on.
A bit too chaotic for me.
I liked the ending.

Well i'm torn with this one,i mean i did liked but for me is something missing or it was too absurd to consider to be real. They known each other from high school and after seven years ( when they don't see each other at all) after a few hours they are like two monkeys in the heat?..
Some chapters were great don't get me wrong but after reading Stepbrother i was expected a little more.

Electra and Connor knew each other in high school but their relationship was anything but friendly. When they meet up years later, it doesn’t seem like much has changed. In fact for most of the book they seem to dislike one another and yet there’s something between them that neither of them can deny.

I may be underselling this one but then I found it difficult to forgive Connor for everything he did, both past and present. He’s not unlikeable, he’s just not your average, tortured, alpha male type. We get to learn the reasons behind his behaviour but I couldn’t shake the feeling that there was too much negativity between the pair. Had I been Electra, I’m not sure I’d have given him so many chances. And yet, Connor is oddly endearing at times. Be prepared to both hate and love our hero, much like Electra does. Electra is an intelligent, confident women but she has her insecurities (much like we all do). Since Connor is the cause of some - if not most - of them, it’s probably fitting that he comes back into life and impacts her in a more positive way for the long run. Their path is not an easy one, either separate or together. There’s a good amount of story to go with the sex, so again I find myself wondering if I’m underrating this one but at the end of the day it is just another easy read. So, if you take a chance on ‘Cover Model’ I’m confident you won’t be disappointed. Happy reading!

Cautionary element: Unhealthy sexual relation with authority figure.
