So this was my first ever comic on kindle and I have to admit it's completely different to normal. I used to really like reading my Mills & Boon/Silhouette/Harlequin books when I was younger so the chance to read them with pictures? I thought I'd give it a try and I think I enjoyed it more than I would have done just the stories. The skill of the artists to show the emotions of the characters is amazing.

The only thing I didn't like so much was how I was just really getting into the stories and they'd end and the preview for the next book would start. There were admittedly a few that I wouldn't have minded reading the full length versions of but the prices have put me off for a bit. Maybe at Christmas when I get my Amazon Gift Card :D

A great taster

These are free and give you a taste of comics that you can buy.

This one holds 6 stories.

The costs of the full comic are approximately £3.50 - £5.00.

It is worth reading these as they give you 30-40% of the beginning of the story. You can easily get a feel for the stories this way.

I think it was generous of the company to do this as you can buy the ones you want to read. If you can't afford to buy the whole story, these give you enough that you can make up your own ending.

Certainly worth a look.

Harlequin Comics Best Selection Vol. 001 is a free comic that I downloaded from the Kindle Store a while ago. Finding it on my Kindle App during a flight, I decided to read it just to pass the time a little bit. Not really a big fan of romance, I didn't expect there to be much from this to enjoy for me personally. This is a lot of the best stories from Harlequin Comics, condensed into one. A sampler of sorts but.

This was. Incredibly boring. There were two stories out of all of these that really dragged me into it, but then the rest just kept changing and had a relatively same plot and it was just. Really exhausting to keep reading. The first two stories were absolutely amazing and I will definitely be looking for more from those stories - but the rest are horrendous. I got to 52% and felt like I had been reading for hours - I'd only been reading for twenty-thirty minutes. I really had to take a break from this.

When I came back to this, I found myself heavily annoyed with the constant changing of stories right when the story starts to get very interesting and there's nothing more annoying in a selection volume than a bunch of boring stories, and the stories getting really good, only to change and become terrible. It's my biggest pet peeve. If these are the best selection for Harlequin Comics, I don't have much of a hope for them as a company. Do people actually read some of these?

I'm only really interested in three of the comics shown in this series and that shocks me considering it was their "best selection". I wouldn't recommend this, in all honesty. Get a comic list and read the first issue of each. At least get some more in your reading challenge for the same amount of time reading.

They're all pretty much the same story, with the same basic character designs, and the general rich boy shy girl trope that I just loathe personally.

Definitely not a recommendation from me.

I have not read Some decent Harlequin Romace Comics in a while.
So, I got hooked on a few of the stories that this book provided and the tension and drama of each couple. 💁‍♀️😏😍🤯🤭🤗👏
But, I got disappointed with the story cuttoffs because I did not realize that when I had started reading that they were just samples/previews of each story. 🤦‍♀️ Made me want to give it 4 ⭐️ Or 4.5 ⭐️.
But, now I am looking forward to reading each of them. 😊 And ended up giving it 5 ⭐️.
I really don’t like to leave a book unfinished. Good or bad.

FULL REVIEW ON MY WEBSITE
https://thebookcornerchronicles.com/2...

Let me start this review by saying that this one is just a preview for the entire comic book. And I read it because I wanted to see if the full comic book was worth the money and time I would spend on it. And im gonna give you the answer for that at the end of this review.

This preview offers a delightful glimpse into the world of romance comics. At the same time this preview presents a collection of stories that capture the essence of classic Harlequin romance, providing readers with a taste of love, drama, and emotional depth.

This preview includes several short stories, each with its own unique twist on traditional romance tropes. The creators of this preview create narratives that are both engaging and heartfelt, exploring themes of love, trust, and personal growth. The plots are well-paced, offering a balance between dramatic tension and tender moments that have kept me invested in those stories in this preview.

The character development in this preview, while limited by the brevity of the stories, is handled with care. Each protagonist is introduced with distinct personalities and relatable struggles, making their journeys both compelling and accessible. The authors delve into their characters’ emotions and motivations, adding layers to the narratives and inviting us as readers to connect with their experiences.

The side characters in this preview, though not as deeply explored, add richness to the stories. Their interactions with the protagonists provide context and depth, enhancing the overall impact of the narratives. This focus on character dynamics enriches the reading experience, making the stories feel more vibrant and interconnected.

The artwork in this preview is a highlight, capturing the elegance and emotion of the romance genre. The illustrations bring the characters and settings to life with expressive designs and detailed backgrounds. The use of soft lines and gentle shading enhances the romantic atmosphere, creating a visually appealing experience that complements the narratives.

The dialogues throughout this preview are straightforward and effective, reflecting the authors’ ability to capture the essence of romantic exchanges. Conversations feel natural and contribute significantly to character development and plot progression. The balance of sincerity and drama in the dialogue enriches the storytelling, making interactions both entertaining and meaningful.

One of the strengths of this preview is its thematic exploration. The authors delve into themes of love, redemption, and the complexities of human relationships, inviting readers to reflect on the emotional journeys of the characters. These themes are woven seamlessly into the narratives, adding depth and resonance to the stories.

Despite its strengths, this preview occasionally feels constrained by its brevity, leaving certain plot points and character arcs underexplored. However, this is a common challenge in sample collections and serves to heighten interest in the full stories, encouraging us as readers to seek out the complete volumes.

So will buy and read the full version of this comic book ? Yes I will. It might take some time for me to actually read the full version of this comic book because I have been way too optimistic when creating my TBR list for this year and I don’t know if I get the time to read the full version of this comic book this year. But I will read the full version of this comic book at some point in time.
