Suddenly, Jane’s faced with more challenges than she bargained for: Will she let him distract her -- and derail her big chance to coach pro hockey? Vikki’s Musings

This is the first book I have read by V.L. Lockey, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This is a sports romance, which isn’t my normal read. I know very little about hockey, but that didn’t matter. This is a second chance love story, and it touched my heart. I always enjoy reunited past lovers. I also love a book that makes me laugh out loud!

Jane Bratkowski becomes the head coach for the female NHL team, the Venoms. A team that needs a lot of work, but she is more than up to the challenge. When she comes face to face with her ex-husband, Tore Ahlbreg, it’s the last thing she wants. The break up of their marriage is still too painful, especially when she needs to be focusing on recruiting new players for her team.

As the couple is forced to work closely together, they also have to face their heartache from their shared past. Can Jane and Tore finally overcome what tore them apart so many years ago?

Clean Sweep is written in the first person POV of Jane Bratkowski. Her character is feisty, snarky and hilarious! She had me laughing out loud on numerous occasions. Another point in her favor is her love of her little dog. Their antics added greatly to the story. When Jane confronts her loss, it brought tears to my eyes. I could feel her dread at opening that door.

I know I’m being very vague, but I don’t want to give anything away. You will need to read Clean Sweep to find out, and you definitely want to do that.

Tore Ahlbreg’s character is a mixed bag for me. Probably because Clean Sweep is written in first person, I didn’t bound with him. He came across a bit stiff, and I really didn’t understand why everything went south for him the first time around with Jane.

Clean sweep is much more than a book about female hockey players, it’s a well-written story of overcoming unbearable loss and forgiveness. I really liked the message in this book. If you enjoy sports romances with loads of sparkling dialogue and amusing characters, then you will love Clean Sweep. Happy reading!

After the Wildcat series, I wasn't sure how I'd feel about a series about a female team. Would it have the same punch, the same steam? OMG, it certainly does! I loved Jane Bratkowsky and Tore. They were a hot couple with a sad history. Their second chance had me in tears ---and I don't cry when I read books --and laughing out loud. The writing is terrific, but that's what I've come to expect from V. L. Locey. And she didn't disappoint.
I played competitive sports in my teens and found myself completely identifying with the young women on the team. They are painted so finely in spare, well-chosen language that I could see them in my mind's eye. The book has the perfect combination of romance and sports action and planning. It kept me riveted and then I was sad when it was over. BUT! There is a most intriguing couple awaiting me in the second book and I can't wait to read it. This author has crafted an entire team in one book. Her evocative language and realistic dialogue make her unique. Don't miss this series. Whether you like sports or not, you'll love the characters, they real enough to be living next door.

When Jane takes a coaching job for a female hockey team, she is focused on making this team the best as it can be, without interruption. But there is an interruption. Tore, her ex. She tries to convince herself that she can deal with Tore around and still stayed focus on doing what she does the best, coaching. But soon she finds the attraction too strong between her and Tore and she caves into her desires. It was not the lack of attraction or love that caused their, breakup, it was horrific tragedy. Can they move on from this tragedy and find a way to love again? Or is too late.

I have to compliment the author on her writing style and her very crafty well written characters. This was a very engaging and easy read. I really enjoyed this story and am looking forward to more in the series.

The Venom Series is here! I was excited to see V.L. Locey was writing a spin off from The Wildcats Series. I was sad to see that one end, but hot damn, she did not disappoint with the start of this series and I am anxious to read the next books. I love how we still get a glimpse of our beloved Wildcats since they share a team owner and complex.
Jane is a spitfire and I fell in love with her immediately. Her passion for hockey jumps off the pages. Whenever she addressed the team I couldn’t help but feel pumped up and ready to get on the ice with them. I cannot wait to see what she, Olaf, and Alice with do for these women and this new team.
Olaf, what is there not to love about this woman?! Her whit is hilarious, her comments priceless. Alice is new to the group and I am intrigued by her and cannot wait to learn more about her. Then we have the players, Alicia, Kerrie, Kate…I cannot wait to learn more about all of these women and get to know them. Funny to say that, but that is how spectacular V.L. Locey tells their stories, you feel like they are real, that they are a part of your circle of friends and family.
Jane and Tore’s history is heartbreaking. You can feel the love and passion they still have for each other. I love how they really don’t take crap from each other and call it as it is. When they reconnect and grab ahold of their second chance you can’t help but root for them. You feel the pain of their loss and hold onto hope for the future right along with them.
Again, I am so freaking excited for this series!! I highly recommend this series, the Wildcats series, this author. You will not be disappointed!

Clean Sweep (Venom Series #1) by V.L. Locey Jane Bratkowski just signed on to be the new head coach for the Philadelphia Venom professional women’s hockey team.  The last thing she expected was to have to work with her ex-husband, Tore Ahberg, head of European Scouting for the Wildcats.

V.L Locey scores with Clean Sweep!  This book is a fabulous start to the Venom Series, and a wonderful compliment as a spin-off of the To Love a Wildcat Series.

Clean Sweep is told from Jane’s point of view.  She is extremely amusing and had me smiling/laughing a lot throughout the novel.  I like Jane.  She is down to earth and real.  Her character is very believable.   V.L. Locey does a great job with Tore’s character.  He definitely comes off as being European.  He is a good guy.  Tore and Jane divorced due to a tragedy that they could not overcome at the time.  It was clear that the two never stopped loving each other.  I love that faith intervenes and gives them a second chance.

The plot was heartfelt and emotional.  The story is convincing and well resolved.  As always, Locey’s hockey scenes are well-written and believable.  I could totally picture what is happening on the ice. This series is very timely with the National Women's Hockey League being established this year.  The support characters are great.  The assistant coaches seem the perfect fit to work with Jane.  I am looking forward to reading more about them in the future.

The waiting is over and its finally here, The Venom are ready to take the ice or are they. As a spin off I was worried I was not going to like it as well as the Wildcat series. I can only say I should not have worried based on the who the author is, because she slapped the puck between the pipes with this one. Jane is an amazing character, she is brash, speaks her mind, loves hockey and doesn't pull her shots. Tore was introduced in the Wildcat series and he always seemed so uptight. I was glad we got the chance to see who he really was in this story. He may be wound a tad to tight but he has reason. He also knows his stuff, has an odd sense of humor and loves Jane. Isabelle has given Jane a large task and she is determined to complete it. Her determination, dedication and desire are going to be put to the test over and over again. I loved the detail that this author puts in her work, it is so clear you can almost smell the locker room and hear the fans cheering. The new cast of characters is going to be just as amazing as the Wildcats and prove to give us some interesting storylines in the future. The mix between the two series will keep us up to date on the team we already love and give us some interesting interactions and possible love interests. If you are thinking a women's hockey team is going to be to tame for you your going to be in for a huge surprise as the Venom are not going to bake you cookies or kiss your boo boo's. They are more likely to hit you into the boards and cause the boo boo's. This was an awesome first look with no cliffhangers and some interesting second book options. I eagerly await what happens next.

V.L. Locey has become one of my staples of the past few months. I loved her Wildcats series, and I've picked up a few of her other hockey romances. She never disappoints. I was thrilled to learn at the end of the Wildcats series that there would be a spin off because I wasn't ready to say goodbye to the world she built in that arena. I honestly felt apart of the team through the very end of the last book in that series, which is where we first meet Jane.
I loved how her story was set up, but boy was that a bit of a cliff hanger with just knowing that she and Tore had a history and having to wait to find out what it was.

Tore was in several of the Wildcat books, although you never really get to know him well. In previous books he doesn't seem like the passionate type that Jane describes. But, in this book there is much passion to be had between he and Jane. I loved Jane's character. She has a determination to do well, she speaks before she thinks and she's going to make this work.

I loved seeing Olaf back in the rink and some of the Wildcat characters popping up. I can't wait for stories involving this new team so we get to know them better. And I can't help but feel Tore and Jane's story isn't over yet. I can't wait to see where it goes next. There was so much heartbreak and emotion in the past, I'm hoping the future will be filled with nothing but love and even deeper emotion.

Also, it wouldn't hurt if the future was full of visits from my favorite fictional hockey team!

OMG I don't know if I have been more excited as when I saw that Clean Sweep was released early!!! I was as giddy as a school girl and let me tell you, this book was so worth the wait. I loved the Wildcat series and now it's the ladies turn.

I could not help but to fall in love with Tore and Jane. I felt so sorry for them when I read their back ground story. Caused heart twinges. There was so much depth to this story....funny as hell parts thanks to Olaf (yes she is back along with a few other characters from the previous series)then heart breaking parts with Tore and Jane's past is brought up.

We really don't have our firm HEA with these two. (at least what I would call an HEA) It didn't end in a cliff hanger and we did get a happy ending and I was very pleased with how it all went but no wedding bells a ringing just yet. Doesn't meant that it won't come up in any of the next ones though. The ending on this one though now that I think about it as rather abrupt.

We were introduced to a lot of new characters that will become on main focus in later books. Loved Alice...hated Daisy...Loved Biggie (he was a hoot and a half)...loved Karrie and her snarky self.

Lot's of emotions throughout this read. Laughter, tears, heartache, heartbreak, forgiveness, growth, etc.

So.....

Would I recommend this book? Oh hell ya!!!!

Would I read more from this author? Of course!!!

~~~~~~~~~~Lindsey's ★★★★✰ Review~~~~~~~~~~
Stories of women facing any adversity are my favorite. I love gutsy characters who have balls men will never dream of having. This book was gritty, passionate, and action-packed. I’m very interested to read the next books in the series and check this author out further. This book is for anyone who loves sports and who has a vivid imagination.
~~~~~~~~~~Sharlene's ★★★★✰ Review~~~~~~~~~~

Jane and Tore both work in the hockey industry and already have a history with one another. Jane is definitely not a shrinking violet. She is head strong, fiery and has a sharp tongue. Tore is her ex-husband who is nordic, strong willed and still in love with Jane. Told strictly from Jane's POV, the story starts out in the present but does cover a lot of their history together and how things went wrong without going into a lot of detail. Scenery descriptions were not very detailed either. But Jane's character is well developed. Tore's not so much. I had a hard time connecting with either character but more so Tore's. I loved the secondary characters - especially Alice and Olaf. Overall the story was easy to read and was unique.

This is a stand alone and does have an HEA although it is part of a series.

This is possibly one of the best hockey romance stories I've read!
I litterally fell in love with Jane before I hit page 2. This is the woman I hope I can be when I'm her age. She's fiery, passionate, driven, and dedicated. Jane coaches strong hockey teams, demands the best from her players and from herself. There's only one tarnish to her dedication and that's her exhusband and hockey star turned recruiter, Tore. And did I mention he is absolutely delicious? But where do you not want to run into your exhusband? Your new job. Jane may fumble at first but once she finds her feet, you'll ride her thoughts and passions right along with her as she builds the dream team she hopes to turn the Philadelphia Venom, the new woman's professional hockey team she's now coaching. Tore only complicates matters and ignites all the loss and pain from years past.
I devoured this book in less than a day, dying to know what happens with Tore and with the Venom. But fret not, readers, Locey will not disappoint with another book, Twirly Girl, who will let you follow the Venom along for their ride. You will love Jane and Tore beyond reason before you realize it.

I was sad to see the Wildcats series to be finished, but I was looking forward to The Venom series. I have not read a book or series based on a female sport team. This is book #1 of the new series. Book #2 is Twirly Girl.

Jane Bratkowski meets the owner of The Venom when it is pouring down rain. I could see Jane soaking wet. Jane is offered the position of head coach for The Venom. She finds out that her ex-husband is working for the Wildcats as their head of European Scouting. The history between them is omg. I do not want to give anything away. It is a tragedy that torn them apart.

I am looking forward to Book #2, Twirly Girl. I hope this series is as long as the Wildcats series.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

I was definitely excited to read Tore and Jane's story. I couldn't put this down. Once I started it I had to see it through to the end.

This is definitely an original story...most of Locey's couples don't have a history like Tore and Jane do. The love and loss they previously shared provided such a rich, emotional background for their current predicament. It made the story in Clean Sweep really stand out among her books. I cried...I'll admit it.

I loved learning more about Tore since he has played a more active role since Petro was drafted. And then you have Jane...fire to Tore's ice. They hero and heroine were both very well-written and complimented each other amazingly.

Again it was great to revisit the characters from the previous books. Really all I can say is yet ANOTHER great book from Locey!

I wasn't sure what to expect but was I pleasantly surprised! Jane is a strong woman and isn't afraid of much, except the tragedy from her past. When she arrives in Philadelphia to interview for a head coach's job for a woman's hockey team, the last thing she thinks is she needs to worry about running into her ex-husband. Tore is HOT and the love he has for Jane, jumps from the pages! That is all I am giving up because you need to read this book for the rest, it is so worth it! I already love the Wildcats series and the Venom series is just as good! Tore is HOT and the love he has for Jane, jumps from the pages! The secondary characters will have you looking forward to more in this series. Really enjoyed this one!

Sports romances are one of my favorite types of reads and this one is really enjoyable! Jane Bratkowski just landed the job of head coach for a new woman’s hockey team, the Venoms. On her first day she runs into her ex-husband, Tore Ahlbreg, who will also be working with the team. Their break-up is still pretty raw and Jane isn’t looking forward to reopening wounds by working so closely with Tore.
This book is written from Jane’s POV and she’s hilarious, she had me laughing out loud on several occasions. This was a great read and a real page turner, once I started it I couldn’t put it down. I look forward to seeing where the author goes next.

This book was wonderful. This is the first book I have read where the hockey team was women's rather than men's. I wasn't sure if I would like it as well as men's hockey romance but I did. I am looking forward to reading more books in this series. Jane made me so mad at times, but when I figured out what she had been through I could understand. Tore just sounds yummy! Gotta love a Swede. Biggie kept me highly amused throughout the book. Going in I knew there would be a happy ending (of course) but I admit I was worried there for a minute. I think the way their story came together was perfect though. This was definitely a great way to start off a new series. Looking forward to reading more.

When Jane comes to Philly to interview for the head coach position for the new women's hockey team, she runs into her ex-husband who works for the men's team that's there. Will the two of them be able to work together or will they continue to fight? I know I hope that they can work things out but will they after all they were hurt by each other from something that happened in their past. I'm anxious to see what happens in the next book to see if Jane can build her team into a strong and good team.

Clean Sweep is a first book in a series and a spinoff of The Wild Cat series. I wasn't a big sports romance fan until I read the Wildcats series and fell in love with the team. I wasn't sure how I would feel about Women's Hockey but once again, V.L won me over.
In this book, she set up the series, created a team, gave us a sizzling second chances romance, made me laugh and cry and fan my face. She also has me salivating for the next book!
Of you like hockey, sports romance, second chances, great characters, a sad story with a hay ending and sizzling sex I highly recommend this.

I fell in love with the writings of Ms. Locey with her Wildcat's. With this first installment of her Venom Series, the love affair, will thankfully continue. I love the fact that other characters from the other stories will creep over to this one. I am truly liking the way this series is setting up. Coach Bratkowski is tough as nails when need be, but for Tore, she is a teddy bear. My favorite character of both series is Olaf. Love her!!!! Hmmm I am thinking we shall having building of funny snowman!!! (Think Frozen)

I won't read this author again

This author really needs to learn how to end a book! I read her Wildcats series and her habit of just saying "The End" even when a lot of things hadn't been resolved yet wasn't too bad when I was reading the box set and the next book started right up. But when you are reading an individual book, the book feels unfinished. I'm not going to get into another book just to turn the page and have it say "The End" again when the story isn't complete. I love hockey romance but I prefer to read a book from an author who finishes her books.

Jane Bratkowski is the new head coach for Philadelphia Venom Women's Hockey Team. Jane didn't expect to run into her ex husband Tore Ahlberg. Jane has a strong reaction to Tore which leaves her questioning her sanity. Coaching the team is going to be an experience and practice in patience something that Jane has in short supply. Will Jane allow the past to dictate her future? Can Jane and Tore find the spark of passion? Your answers await you in Clean Sweep.

This new to me author did an excellent job of telling this story. I don't know much about hockey but definitely learned alot while reading. The story and characters were flawed, real, honest, compelling, and intriguing too. Definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.
