Suzie O'Connell grew up in a small town on the Kitsap Peninsula in Western Washington, but has called the mountains and valleys of Western Montana home for well over a decade. She has been writing stories since she was old enough to know how (the first she can recall was penciled in the second grade, about the mouse who went to the sea) and completed her first novel, Summer Angel, before she graduated from high school. After high school, tired of the endless rain, she attended college at the University of Montana-Western and graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Literature and Writing. She is currently working on a Masters of Education and teaches high school English.

Suzie considers herself to be a rather quirky individual with ecclectic tastes in music, movies and books. She listens to just about anything, including pop, rock, country and techno and her favorite movies range from Grumpy Old Men to Lord of the Rings to Moulin Rouge to Pirates of the Caribbean. When it comes to reading, she prefers fantasy, science fiction, romance and literary fiction.

She firmly believes it's healthy to laugh at yourself, that best friends are worth far more than their weight in gold, and that home truly is where the heart is.

When she isn't writing, teaching or studying, Suzie enjoys playing in the mountains with her husband Mark, their daughter Maddie and their energetic golden retriever Reilly. She is also a hobby photographer, specializing in landscapes.

Shannon gets her first brush with the darker side of fame. Her boyfriend of three years finally shows his true colors and breaks it off with her. She decides to get away for awhile and visit her family in Montana. While there she spends time with her best friend Ty. Ty has been in love with Shannon for years but has pushed it aside while she is away. Now they finally have a chance at a relationship.

Shannon and Ty are best friends who have never pushed that boundary, even when they wanted to. I liked their relationship and how Ty pushes Shannon to follow her dreams. But I didn’t like how pushy Ty was in the progression of their relationship, especially since she was still getting over a bad breakup. Overall I enjoyed this Christmas story and recommend it if you are looking for a good holiday read.

A kiss under the mistletoe that's unforgettable? For Ty and Shannon it's exactly that! After being best friends forever, the pair part ways when Shannon's music and acting career takes off. Only when Shannon breaks up with her boyfriend do they get a chance to think about how well they know each other. Ms. O'Connell write a sweet, clean romance that offers a smooth story that contains believable characters and dramatic interaction. IF you're tired of bedroom drama passing for romance, you'll enjoy this one.

Ty and Shannon have different dreams but one scintillating kiss under the mistletoe changes everything. Do one, both or neither give up their dream to follow a possible relationship that might not last? A lovely Christmas-time story of dreams, love gained/lost and one mistletoe inspired kiss that leads to a conflict of interests. If you like the Northstar series this will be an added bonus to your collection. A must read (just like all the rest!)

Boring

You know how this is going to end from the beginning. No surprises or mystery in this boring story. Then when I saw the part about having a wood stove in a tackroom in the barn I just couldn't finish it. No one should take a chance on a barn fire by having a woodstove in it. They are dangerous enough in a house. I have had a woodstove in my house for 50 years with no problems but I know off several houses that burned. 👎

Sweet Christmas story

Shannon and Ty had been best friends for a long time. Shannon came home after her break up with her boyfriend.

Will she get over him? She finally goes to see Ty. She had questions about a kiss there shared two years ago.

Can Shannon handle his answer? What will happen when they start hanging out together? What will happen when her ex boyfriend comes looking for her?

I found that I lost myself in this story. I loved both the H and h. They had been friends so many years but Ty had the desire for more but held back because Shannon had a boyfriend. This story proves that no matter how well you know someone, you really don’t know every aspect. It is best to be friends first before becoming lovers. Great Holiday story.

Mistletoe Kisses (North star Book 6)

The love story of Th and Shannon. After a story about Shannon have a affair with a producer and her boyfriend call her not so nice name. She go back home. She can not make up her mind as to take a new acting job or return to teaching. A great story of love lost and found.

This isn’t a genre I typically read. However since it’s close to the holidays I thought I’d read a book centered around them.
It’s predictable but nonetheless adorable. It’s well written, with a few editing mistakes but nothing horrible.
It certainly helps that the main character and I share 2 of our names 😉.
A good, lighthearted read for the holidays.

I enjoyed this Christmas romance. I voluntarily chose to review it and I've given it a 4.5* rating. Torn between two men, the heroine should have a clear cut decision to make, but has trouble making those decisions. Lots of twists and turns makes this a page turner, I wanted to know more. Not really for the under 18 readers, a little too much adult content. I'm on to Starlight Magic.

Christmas

I love books about Christmas, I can put myself into the scene, relax and get away from reality. I only wish there were lots more good clean romances like this. The theme does not have to be Christmas, however it helps. Thank you. Blessings Ann

This is a sweet friends to lovers story. Shannon and Ty are really great together and the fact that they have been friends for years makes the "falling in love" that much more believable (it is not the instant love that sometimes happens). Love the people of Northstar.

Nice romance story

A nice story about home town boy trying to win girl. The first half of the book was better than the second. The second half seemed to just be trying to close up the story line. Not a bad ending, but seemed a little fractured.

Mistletoe Kisses (Northstar Holidays, #1) was a great read. The characters and relationships between friends and family were well done. Suzie O'Connell didn't introduce so many characters at once that you lost track of who was who, making this an even more enjoyable read.

When Shannon's boyfriend showed his true colors, she decided to go back home. She reconnected with her best friend, Ty, with whom she shared a kiss two years prior--and had started distancing herself from.

This was a nice Christmas read. Shannon came off as very immature quite often, more like teen age behavior.
