She left him a letter and moved to Boston. He didn’t notice for ninety-two days.
On their fifth anniversary, Nora Vance sets the table for two. Her husband texts from Celebrate without me.
So she does something she’s never done in five years of marriage. She writes Gabriel a four-page letter, leaves it in the center of his desk, takes off her rings, and drives to her grandmother’s narrow brick house in Boston.
He doesn’t call. He doesn’t come. He doesn’t even notice she’s gone.
Three months later, Nora’s design wins a blind competition for the most important new library in the city. And when the city’s developer partner walks onstage to shake the winning architect’s hand, it’s her husband.
Gabriel Vance built a fortune on noticing the one detail everyone else missed. He never noticed that his wife designed the tower he’s famous for. He never noticed she’d been hurt. And he never noticed that someone in his own life made sure her letter never reached him.
Now they’re bound by an eighteen-month contract to build her library together, and Nora has professional only, and he calls her Ms. Ellison.
He’s finally paying attention. But some things, once lost, have to be earned back one day at a time.
No graphic violence in the story.

I really enjoyed this story about a couple who, despite loving each other deeply, completely lost sight of what truly matters. Nora is an architect, and that’s how she first met Gabriel — long before he became a billionaire. Over time, he stopped paying attention to his wife and began taking her for granted, assuming she would always be there no matter how distant he became.
What makes this book compelling is how clearly it shows the outside forces working against their marriage. Nora had slowly made herself smaller, hiding the things she used to do to make him feel loved, even though she was hurting. Meanwhile, Gabriel’s assistant was actively sabotaging their relationship — hiding cards, letters, and messages Nora wrote for her husband, as if she had the right to decide what he should see. It’s shocking that Nora had to rely on an assistant to deliver something to her own husband when they lived under the same roof.
And the drama doesn’t stop there. Gabriel’s brother Julian, who is also the company’s CFO, is involved in illegal activities that threaten both their business and their marriage. With people like that surrounding them, it’s no wonder Nora and Gabriel drifted so far apart.
What I appreciated most was how the story resolves. Nora acknowledges that she allowed some of the distance to grow, but Gabriel carries the heavier responsibility. He trusted another woman to handle communication with his wife, never realizing that his assistant was in love with him — or wanted him for herself. Watching them confront the truth and rebuild their relationship made the ending satisfying and hopeful.
Overall, it’s a good read — emotional, dramatic, and full of the relationship challenges that make this series so addictive.
loved this from beginning to end. some very sad parts that had me in tears but also some of the funniest lines that had me laughing very loud in the middle of the night. one of the few books i stayed up overnight to finish. was worth it. Adding Ms Ward to my list of authors to follow.
Excellent read. If you want a story that will touch you deeply, this is for you. A couple that let their marriage slip away, and their journey back, with very good secondary characters/plot points as well. Well written. I'm going to remember this one for a long time.
I enjoyed this story from beginning to end. The characters were well written and fun. I loved how there was closure to the characters. There was no confusion on the HEA, you knew it was just about perfect. Truly enjoyable! Thank you Lyra Ward, well done!
Been a why since I read a book that touched me so. Characters ,they just hit together. Learning from her mistake about making her self small. Him about not noticing her for several years but in the house. Glad they came together in the end.
