NUDGE

Rate this book
Mike Blinkley used to risk his life for a living. Now he’s just trying to survive his marriage.

Once a motorcycle stuntman with crowds chanting his name, Mike now restores old bikes in Devon and wonders how his life became so small. His wife Leah is cold, critical and, judging by the notebook she keeps hidden in a drawer, perhaps beginning to lose her grip on reality.

He begins planning her murder as meticulously as he once planned a jump. He has always understood risk. Timing. Balance. Momentum. If a problem can be measured, it can be controlled.

And eventually, he is ready.

A windswept clifftop, a carefully chosen moment and a small nudge.

Afterwards, freedom is quieter than he expected.

Until the house begins to change.

Darkly comic, unsettling and claustrophobic, Nudge is a psychological thriller about identity, control and the difference between looking at someone and truly seeing them.

This was so bingeable! I did not intend to read most of it in one sitting but I did. Mike was a fantastic character, a bit of an a-hole but it worked. He planned for everything except for ‘what came after’ - this particularly drew me in.
It was as comical as it was tense and dark, and made me wonder about all the couples in lockdown who also grew to hate each other 🤣
Jill Addison has a knack for writing about the dark underbelly of countryside life.
