Kitty Margo grew up in a small North Carolina town nestled between the Pee Dee and Rocky Rivers. She began writing when her children were small. Having too many interests to stick to one genre, she has written books for the YA, historical romance, and women's fiction audience. Kitty has three amazing sons and four completely adorable grandchildren. She enjoys cruises with her girlfriends, traveling to historic destinations, reading, visits to Myrtle Beach and Charleston, SC, and spending time with her grandchildren. She still lives in her North Carolina town with her youngest son, a song writing and beat making wizard, so there is never a dull, or quiet, moment.
This was a fun book. I would be interested to see another. It was funny and different. The main characters were in their mid 50's which was a fun twist. It opened up a new world and point of view that I don't see to often in book as most main characters in the books I read are 30's and under. I loved the life and spunk of these ladies. The mystery itself however was not in my favorites. The book didn't even focus on the mystery until the last fourth of the book. For that I'm afraid I did have to mark it down 1 star. Still a fun book that I would recommend.
This starts as a light funny story about two middle-aged women who have been best friends forever. Forgetting the murder part, the things these two complete opposites do together can be hilarious and downright goofy. "Red hatters " on a doomed 8-day cruse, stranded on a broiling island, unknowingly, eating "special" chocolate brownies, isn't enough. They must cajole, a cranky roommate, and befriend a young woman newly turned ghost. This has become quite an adventure. Ending the weird boat trip, they arrive home and have no choice but to jump in to try to solve the murder. Things go from bewildering to dangerous now. Don't bad things usually take place close to home? Seeking closure for the ghost, they find close to home, is where the worst things are. Right under their noses, a killer roams their town.
In this book, hilarity and danger are combined into a decent read.
If you like stories with ghosts, this was pretty entertaining. It held your interest, although it was a little hard to keep up with who was "speaking" because it changed with about every chapter. It held your interest and kept you guessing until the end as to who the murderer was. Some parts were a little far fetched, but not so much as to cause you to loose interest. There was no sex or violence and little, if any bad language. I would read another book by this author.
WARNING!!!!! Please do NOT read this book if you HATE good plots and storylines. Do NOT read if you despise remarkable character development. Do NOT even pick this up if you think laughter is unnecessary in your life. Just walk away. You don't deserve the goodness, abject clever reality set forth by this brilliant author. Me? I'm waiting on the next Maggie and Irene story~!
Funny, sweet and educational; I always wanted to know how to make pot brownies, and how much a cruse costs. I would have liked to hear more about N Carolina, but the story line kept me entertained.
Different type of mystery with characters who are feisty and full of surprises. The switching back and forth from character to character dialogue was hard to keep up with but the humor was worth it
Perfect characters, perfect settings, and mystery. I laughed, cried and smiled my way through this book. I usually don't enjoy paranormal stories, this story was an exception.
This book, the first in a series, is a well-written with as many pieces as a complicated jigsaw puzzle. What a surprise that all the pieces finally do fit together! This actually is NOT a cozy, but it is funny and sad.
It started out catching my interest, but then I almost quit reading. I didn't care for the character at first. She is a smoker and has a of dirty mouth. It's the first cozy mystery that I've read with a language issue. I really became interested when the ghost of her deceased husband and two others entered the plot. I really enjoy ghosts in a Cozy. Outside of the language , I think I will read the next one.
