I enjoyed most of this coffee table book about iconic American actor James Dean. The pictures are the best as well as the critiques of Dean's three classic movies. The later chapters were just not as captivating... intellectualising Dean's character and impact on society. But overall a great read that I partnered up with watching Dean's movies and various documentaries.

After reading this book, I think I finally have the whole "James Dean Mythology Cult" thing out of my system.

I admit it - I went through a HUGE James Dean phase in college. One summer, I read this book and just drooled over all of the photos of him making his movies, mainly Rebel Without a Cause. It really captured the time and made you feel like you were right in 1954, feeling all of that creative energy with all of those people he worked with. I highly recommend this book. It lives up to my remembered reveries.
