Adam Fletcher begins a life-altering quest when he’s finally able to travel on Emmanuel Rogers’s sloop to help deliver cargo in the West Indies. Not long after the Carolina Gypsy arrives in the bustling port of Havana, Cuba, Adam ventures out on his own to track down a man who he has been told may have information about his father.
His plans are complicated, however, when he ends up being taken hostage by the very men he hired as interpreters.
When his shipmates receive a ransom letter, they launch a desperate search to find him, but meanwhile, Adam plots his own escape from the hands of his captors. Once he discovers who’s behind it all, he starts thinking that maybe he should have left well-enough alone instead of trying to dig up secrets that were buried in the past.
"Captured in the Caribbean" immerses the reader in the 1760s, this time in Cuba! The author has a masterful ability to capture a time period. Her extensive research is evident but not overwhelming; it enhances the story and brings history to life.
The plot is entertaining and engaging, chock full of plot twists and surprises. It is also populated by characters you either love or hate. Time and again I found I couldn't put this book down.
This is a great book for anyone interested in the Colonial Era. I finished it in no time at all, and I look forward to the next book in the series!
This book moved at a faster pace than book 1 (but I tend to feel that way about most series.) Because I was familiar with Adam from The Smugglers Gambit, it was a pleasure to see his growth and development as a character. And he is quite the character! Lol Loved the action. Loved the surprises - normally I'm pretty good at guessing what's coming. I think this will continue to be a fun series for me and my daughter (12) to enjoy. I am also going to recommend the series to my daughter's middle school humanities department. My daughter learned a lot of history while enjoying the fiction. Besides, who doesn't like a good story with pirates?! Looking forward book 3!
I liked the way Sara tied both Adam Fletcher stories together. It was fast paced with plenty of action with twists and turns. If you liked the first book you have to read this book. Can't wait to read Sara's next Adam Fletcher adventure.
This second installment of the Adam Fletcher series was really a good read. A lot happened, so much so that I can't imagine what happens in book 3. There were so many new characters at one point that I did get a bit confused, but that's probably just me.

This is the second in the series. Adam Fletcher voyages to Havana, Cuba, in search of his father, but he discovers much more. Whilst in Havana, Adam manages to get kidnapped. Thus, a series of adventures begins. During which he learns about his family history. The second book is all about answering questions and sets the tone for future books.
This is one of my new favorite series I believe. It has keep me turning the pages. You can become to feel for Adam and all he has taken on. So brave, so resilient.
