NOTE FROM NICOLE: My Goodreads library is by no means comprehensive. I have thousands of books on my real (as opposed to my Goodreads) bookshelves. However, my Goodreads library only contains those books I'd give four or five stars and would recommend to friends without hesitation (and I haven't gotten around to listing all those yet.)

A little too obvious of a set-up, I guessed the "secret" right away, but a cute Christmas romance. Wish it was a little more steamy. I really liked seeing the characters from previous books show up, and I'm glad to see other palace staff get their own novel. That said, where were April and Rock?

Christmas With A Palace Thief

⭐⭐⭐

I didn't love by this story as much as the other two, but it was still ok. Chief Security for the Barrali Family, Umberto is more than a little annoyed to discover a third in the palace apartment, more though is the thief herself... Sara Angeletti, a previous palace security officer herself.

Sara knows that breaking in is not the best option, but getting caught never entered her head, sadly she’s a pretty sad burglar, especially after she was fired for stealing. But everything is not as it seems and this is drawn out a little to find the reason behind it. As she gives Umberto the least amount of information to keep the police at bay, this only rekindles their old relationship. With just days before Christmas, Sara will see another side of Umberto while not sobbing in the palace rat... It won’t be what you imagined it kind of court me off

It takes a lot to trust blindly.

This is the story of Umberto & Sara. Umberto is the head of security at the palace. Sara used to work security at the palace until eight years ago. Now, Sara owned two gelateria places of business. Umberto and Sara were an item back at the palace. Tonight there was an incident at the palace when they meet again. Umberto is puzzled at why and how she got into the palace and why she is there. During these eight years, they never stopped thinking about each other. He thinks she’s a thief. She keeps telling him she’s not. Will everything turn out okay between them? It’s been an interesting ride through this story to find out what really happened, not once, but twice. It’s a hot steamy tale nevertheless. This is a great added novella to the Royal Scandals series. I really enjoyed it.

King Carlo conspires with Sara Angeletti to surprise Queen Fabrizia with a special Christmas gift. There's only one problem, Chief of security Umberto Niro catches Sara in the act and now he must decide what to do about it. After all she was a thief eight years ago, had she changed any? Sarah asks him to trust her until at least Christmas Day and she will reveal all. Umberto finds that he is willing to do that and realizes he should have trusted her on that fateful day so many years ago. When all is explained, Umberto and Sara both finally get back the loves of their live, each other.

This was a fun holiday novella. I liked the main characters and the premise, for the most part. It was another one of the stories where I wondered "Why won't they just TALK to each other."

I really like Ms. Burnham’s writing style. You feel that you are a fly on the wall and a witness as the story unfolds. Christmas with a Palace Thief is wonderful. I have enjoyed every installment and this book is no exception.

This novella stars Umberto Niro, the Royal Families Security Chief and Sara Angeletti a former body guard for Princess Sophia. Umberto has been introduced to us in a couple previous installments, but now he gets his own story.

As we enter into the world of the Royal Barrali Family once again, we find Sara sneaking/breaking into the palace. She actually makes it past all the motion detectors, doors no longer locked and an answer for the entrance to the Royal residence, requiring a thumb print. Someone very important set this up for Sara to go directly to the Queen's closet and is found with her hands inside the chest of jewels. Suddently Umberto has a gun to Sara's head and she froze. Lucky for Sara, she had gotten what she needed was safely tucked just under her bra.

Umberto immediately knew who the thief was, his ex-girlfriend and the ex-employee who had been fired 8 years ago. That was the last time he has seen her. It had been hard for Umberto watch Sara walk out of the palace and out of his life, but he would never have been allowed to continue the relationship with Sara admitting to shoplifting in Paris. Sara was Princess Sophia body guard as she was attending university in Paris. Now, Sara wondered why she has agreed to do this? She knew, she did it because she was asked and is a good person.

In the last 8 years, Sara has become very successful with her own business on the island. She owned a “gelato” shop (ice cream) and had expanded into a second location last year.

As Umberto took Sara to his office, she knew this was going to be hard to see him again, and for him to believe that she had stolen something again. She had hoped 8 years ago that he would have known that she is no thief and talked to her. But, instead he had never contacted her and she loved him and thought that he may love her too after all, they had been together over a year. She knew that both parties felt betrayed by the other then and perhaps a repeat now. Some things are not what they seem, but, will Umberto believe her to be the women he knew and that she would never steal. Or will he believe that she is a thief.

Umberto or Sara had not forgotten the passion they once shared. But, Umberto knew that he would have to inform the King and maybe get the police involved. He felt there had to be more than meets the eye, and decided to let her go until he could do his own investigation and talk with the King. By the next day, he still did not know who could have turned off the motion detectors and who had given her his fingerprints she needed to get into the living quarters of the Queen and kind. He had to talk to her again to get answers about this incident and the one 8 years ago.

To find out if there is a second chance for them, read this wonderful story.

A

I chose this rating because it was fast pace .,how ever I wish it had gone into a little more details on the characters instead of tying to explain everything at the end . I can,t wait too see what her next book will be like
