Highlander's Promise

Rate this book
In the morning, Cree will leave on a mission for the King, so the couple make the most of the last night they have together until he returns. He promises Dawn that all will go well and he will return safely to her.

Dawn nearly collapses when she receives word that Cree has been imprisoned, falsely accused of a crime. Sloan and Cree’s warriors will do their best to attempt to free him, but with Cree being held in an impenetrable dungeon the prospect of freeing him appears doubtful.

Dawn’s heart breaks at the thought that she may never see her husband again. And so her decision is an easy one...she will go rescue him.

Alrighty! So, for all the wholesome magic and consequence that I was missing in the plot of Highlander's True Love, I definitely got all of that here, in Highlander's Promise.

The story starts off with Cree and Dawn...er, doing what they're pretty much always doing when together, but this time as a farewell to Cree, who's summoned on a mission to the king. Dawn feels badly that they're going to be apart, of course, but the mission hopefully shouldn't take too long and Cree should have no problems.

Or...so they think.

As it turns out, Cree is imprisoned by the very man he was seeking to interrogate, falsely accused of a crime and then set to...hang?! Oh dear, if anyone thinks that Dawn's just going to sit back and wait for Cree, as he instructed her, then they clearly don't know her very well!

No, instead what our loveable heroine does it team up with Old Mary of all people, and go in disguise to where Cree's being held in order to get him out! That's just the first that kickstarts a plot that, while in a short story, has a lot of consequence going for it and keeps things entertaining and high stakes from beginning to end. As such, it's definitely a keeper and a re-reader, and not just for the plot, but for the quieter moments too. (Ahem, Cree and Dawn when interacting with the twins are just adorable, and I'll be looking forward to many more scenes like that to come in future reads!)

Another hit out of the park for Donna Fletcher. I love Cree and Dawn and this short story does not disappoint. Dawn is her usual self not abiding Cree's request to stay out of it. Lots of action, laughing and fun crammed into this story. You're gonna love it.

Rescue Your Man

I have read all the books of Cree and Dawn. Unfortunately they were on the Kindle Ez Reader in Black and White and do not sync to the fire. Well I love Dawn she protects those who love her mainly Cree. Cree has loved her and protected her from the beginning. Her never saw her voiceless as an affliction. I highly recommend reading in order about Cree and Dawn.

Another engaging story of Cree and Dawn! I read this in one sitting. I enjoyed the way Old Mary stepped up and acted as Dawn’s grandmother in their rescue of Cree; and rescue him they did - but trouble followed them home , want to know how it ends? You must read their story. Thank you Ms. Fletcher for another wonderful read.

5 plus stars and fans of Donna Fletcher can't get enough of this beloved couple! I was so thrilled and excited that Ms, Fletcher wrote another book about our favorite duo! Cree and Dawn, our favorite brawn highlander and his beautiful, peasant wife, without a voice. As always I am always amazed as well as mesmerized how this talented author pens these stories and the way she has Dawn communicate to her husband and others is beyond amazing and just so brilliant!

Scotland, early 1200's

In this page turner Cree gets into quite a lot of trouble as he goes on a mission under King Alexander Stewart's orders as an emissary to Minnoch Castle. Shortly after Cree's arrival he is framed by Lord Parlan Minnoch stating he stole jewels! Villain Minnoch torture Cree with words saying he will have his castle, lands, wife and and children in a matter of days after he has our beloved Cree beheaded and throws him in Minnoch's filthy dungeons, Although they all know Minnoch was not a man to be trusted going into this and this just proves the fact.

Well stubborn Dawn will not let this happen without a fight. As he is the love of her heart and soul so she and Old Mary come up with a plan but a very dangerous one and Castle Minnoch is impossible for his men to free him without being seen! Sometimes a man needs the help of woman, no matter how furious and angry he will be! When things can't be negotiated peacefully and civilly Dawn takes things into her own hands. Sometimes dangerous times takes desperate measures, but Dawn will try anything to rescue the man she loves more then life, but will it work or will they both end up on the block leaving their newborn infants as orphans?

You will have to read this captivating and superbly written short story to find out. As there are so many twists and turns in this exceptional magnificent story that will keep you guessing as I know it did me totally brilliant! It is truly a truly fabulous read and a good meaty length for short story too, as I highly recommend it. Those like myself whom are team Cree and Dawn will love and won't be able to put it down! Believe me you don't want to miss this one, I was totally absorbed and enchanted! I really can't praise it enough!

I highly recommend "Highlander's Promise" it was another winner as Donna Fletcher books always are! I totally loved it! ~B

An absolutely must read!!

Fast paced, quick read with a thrill ride of emotions from drama, to danger, passion, treachery, revenge, romance and love.
I absolutely loved the way Dawn did want she had to in order to save her beloved Cree.
I also adored how Ms. Fletcher took a voiceless heroine and gave her a very loud, distinctive and powerful voice. A heartfelt tale worthy of praise! Revenge can be most sweet!
Although, I have not read the other Cree and Dawn stories, I was thrilled with this one and must read the others, to gain insight into the whole story of Cree and Dawn. A true highlander tale of deception, treachery and the love. An epic love story!! Romantic, with tender moments but also danger, and passion. I look forward to reading more of Cree and Dawn;s story. Powerful, emotional, compelling and passionate. Everything a Scottish Highland Historical Romance needs with many facets and a wonderful cast of characters. Well written. A highly recommended read. Fans of quick reads, Scottish warriors, feisty heroines and a fantastic storyline will absolutely love "Highlander's Promise", I certainly did., I read it in one setting. An absolute delight!! An enjoyable and most satisfying read. Than you, Ms. Fletcher for taking the time to write such a compelling and passionate read!

Fantastic Short Story!!

This is definitely a 5 Star rating for me. I have followed Dawn and Crew's story from the very beginning.

Dawn and Crew's story was fantastic. Donna Fletcher never disappoints with her stories.

This time Cree has to do something for the King and he ends up imprisoned. When Dawn finds out about this she knows she has to do something immediately. She sets out on this journey to save the only man she has ever loved, the father of her twins. Can this woman without a voice accomplish her goal?

I just kept turning pages because I wanted to know what was happening next. True sign of a good book. Cree and Dawn have so much passion between them that it is amazing. I want to continue reading about the two of them. Hopefully, the next story will be longer and just as good. I also want Sloan to have his HEA.

Cree has to go on a mission for the King so he makes the most of the night with his wife, Dawn. When Dawn learns that Cree has been taken captive, she does the only thing she can and that is to go rescue him. With the help of Old Mary, Dawn sets out to do just that. When the enemy shows up at their front door, Cree can barely contain his anger!

This is another great love story by Donna Fletcher! It is fast paced, with a lot of humor and love. Oh and the bad guy is very evil!

Very clever ending. I was wondering how Cree was going to accomplish it. Cree and Dawn are still very hot for each other leading to a lot of sexual banter and, well, sex. Both of their father's are on the scene and we get to know the twins a bit. The King's man is a complete toady (typical Little Man Syndrome). I was surprised the cook was not reprimanded for not sharing his honey for Dawn's wound.
