[Siren Classic Erotic Alternative Paranormal Consensual BDSM Romance, M/M, shape-shifters, HEA] Matt Samuels grew up with an abusive father, which landed him in the clutches of foster care. Only nothing ever goes as planned. When Matt is injured and his memories lost, it leaves him wide open for his past and the hunter's to come after him. The one thing Matt knows for sure is that he will do anything to protect his mate. Will Matt and Ingor survive the battle ahead and come out in one piece? ** A Siren Erotic Romance
In this third volume of the ‘Dragon’s Egg’ series the focus is firmly on Matt and Ingor. While the other dragon and lion shifters are definitely around, especially Matt’s best friend Sebastian and his mate Alpha Gavin. I finally got to find out more about Matt. Turns out Matt is a masochist, and Ingor had to learn to adapt to Matt’s needs, but is really comfortable with their relationship now. Most of the others feel a little uncomfortable about the 24/7 sub/Dom relationship the two of them have, but they are tolerant enough to accept that it is exactly what these two need. This novel is full of twists and turns, good and nasty surprises, and had me on the edge of my seat wanting to find out how it would all end.
Matt has had a hard past, including abuse, rejection, and living on the street, but meeting Ingor changed all that. It took a while to work out that what he needed was to serve Ingor, and for Ingor to take care of him, make rules for him, and figure out how to keep him in line. All they’re missing Is a child, but their first two attempts ended badly. The third one goes better to begin with – but then all hell breaks loose. Between Matt’s injury, the hunters, and all kinds of misconceptions as Matt struggles to regain his memories, there isn’t a quiet moment for a long time.
Ingor would do anything to make Matt happy, but with everything that’s going on, this is not an easy task. Matt not remembering him is a heavy blow, and Ingor ends up making more than one mistake in his pain and desperation. He may be able to take care of the hunters (in a satisfyingly permanent way), but “fixing” Matt is far more of a challenge. Luckily Ingor is one determined dragon, and with Matt’s help, he begins to gain back the ground they lost. Their struggle to get back to how they were as a couple while adjusting to the fact that they will have a baby soon is a lot to deal with!
If you like stories that take you on an emotional roller coaster ride, if you want to read about two men who lost their way and are trying to find back to each other, and if you’re looking for a read that is full of action, suspense, and emotional upheaval and drama, then you will probably like this novel. I loved it!
NOTE: This book was provided by Siren Publishing for the purpose of a review on Rainbow Book Reviews.
This was my least favourite of the series which is a shame given I was really looking forward to Matt and Ingor's story. It was just too unbelievable and the editing throughout was horrible.
This book is part of a series and should be read in order.
Wow, this book had a lot of drama and angst going on. Matt’s history is rough to read about. He really did not have a good childhood at all. Because of that he has issues left over. Together he and Ingor have founds ways to deal with them. That includes a pretty much 24/7 BDSM relationship.
Things are going good for them up until Matt has a fall and suffers from a traumatic brain injury. That is when things start going seriously wacky. So much goes on and certain things happen that leave me confused and a little befuddled. Basically I was wondering how the hell these things even went down. Suffice to say I was pulled out of the book.
Things do finally get back on track with the relationship between Matt and Ingor. I really do like the relationship these two have. It is BDSM, but there is a great deal of love and caring to it.
I enjoyed a good part of the book. However the drama and angst with Matt’s past coming back to get him was a little much for me. It just did not feel needed with all the other things going on. It was also nice to see the other characters from the past two books show up and take part.
So overall it was an OK read and I still look forward to more in the series.
I'm giving this book a rounded up three stars mostly because I really liked Matt but this is definitely the weakest book in the series for me. I'll say upfront that BDSM is not my thing but I enjoyed Taken and Second Chances so figured I'd take a chance and finish the series. Towards the end I found myself just skipping past the sex.
The other thing that brought the rating down where the typos. There was at least one on on every other page. For that to happen with a published book is unacceptable.
Page 1 ...and watching the happy could made Matt equally happy and sad... "couple"
Page 2 ...but that never stop him from wanting to. "stopped"
And it goes on and on. I would point to Engee's Review which says it better than I can.
Ohhhhhhh, Matt :*( My heart broke for him, I just wanted him and Ingor to have their HEA, and they did, but it was heartbreaking reading about them with everything that they went through - they just couldn't get a break! I enjoy this series, there is a lot going on and I love the characters and how Sebastian and Gavin are still around in this story. I still feel like their story isn't 100% complete, like Matt was just starting to really heal, so maybe the next book will still be about them, like how Sebastian and Gavin got 2 stories? Or a new couple? Either way, I hope there is more to this series!
When I purchase a book from an actual publisher vs self-published, I expect some quality editing to have occurred prior to publication. This is not the case with this ebook. It is full of typos, dropped letters, wrong tense, etc. One line reads "Primrose me the egg will be okay?" This distracted from the story and makes me feel I didn't get my money's worth. I dislike BDSM but I really enjoyed the first two books, so I took a chance on this one. Yep, still hate that genre. The author started a new series about vampires, but I will forgo that based on the low quality evident in this work. Get a god damn proofreader.
As much as I liked this the inconsistencies annoyed me. In book one Matt was described as tall and well muscles compared to Sebastian's 5 foot 5 inch size, yet in this book they are described as the same size as share clothes - people were even calling Matt "little man". Now I know Matt when through a hard time and lost weight but surely he didn't shrink!!
I want to say that Matt is one of my favorite characters and I didn't like the fate that he got he has been through so much already so I was a little disheartened I did like the book but I was a little disappointed and there seemed to be a bunch of mistakes I still like this series and I hope the next book is better
[Generalized spoiler] While this story could have used better editing, the tale itself is solid and though-provoking. Life can change drastically in a moment, whether through a choice made by you or someone else. It's how we come out the other side that shows who we really are.
If you liked the first 2 books in the series you will like this one. It was long but needed to be as it told of Ingor and Matt's egg. It also revealed enough of Matt's past to understand him better.
