Absolute Drivel. But, I kept reading because it was just so ridiculous, I kept wondering what kind of shit the author was going to pull out of her ass next. Review contains mild spoilers...

Plot: This short book has a whole lot going on from ground dwelling alien giants to cannibalistic towns to hidden Atlantis cities to micro chipped humans, convenient horses with a convenient stable with convenient saddles, rapists, BFF's who turn into rapists, human trafficking... I mean, the list goes on and on and on.

Characters: I usually don't agree with other reviewers who dislike unlikable characters as I believe we are all flawed but this Chick didn't make any sense. She acts like an inbred spoiled brat. Inbred in that she has absolutely no common sense for someone who's been roughing it in the mines her whole life on this harsh world. Spoiled in that she thinks of no one but herself consistently through the whole book and this doesn't match up with her background. Secondary characters all unrealistic and/or not important.

Writing: This is where I'm confused. The author can actually write except when it comes to dialogue. The dialogue was just awful after the first couple chapters but everything else was written just fine. Yes, the plot and characterization is awful but the author is able to actually write just fine. Very weird. It's like she got her teenage son to give her the plot and she just added in everything else. And of course, never read the dialogue our loud nor read the book back again as a whole. Very odd.

Overall: Don't waste your time even as a free read on Kindle Unlimited.

One Stars for the most annoying heroine EVER!

ARGH..... Yola Sal the heroine of the book finds herself mated to an alien because of a tax debt she could not pay. She lives in a dystopian future, where the inhabitants of the planet Earth (low realm) are subjugated by the inhabitants of the floating cities of the (sky realm). The social economic divide is huge, and nothing is resolved about it in this book.
The alien she is mated with is sexy, sweet and patient; her alternative was death. Being mated to an alien because of a tax debt isn't right, but she grew up in a society where nothing was fair. So why is she so shocked. The book centers around her quest to find the free zone, a place where the sky realm doesn't rule. She will do anything and risk everything to get there. Yola is a selfish bitch of a girl. I didn't like her and when she insisted on going into a radioactive hot zone, with a mother in children in tow; she should have been voted off the island. ARGH!!!!
The trip to the free zone is boring. Her best friend is psycho, and she missed it for ten freaking years. She does have hot sex with the alien Thorne, who should have dumped her twin flame ass.
I read this via kindle unlimited and did finish the book as I didn't want the author not to get paid, but those hours of reading I will never get back. If the author had written the non sex scenes with as much passion as intimate ones, it would have been a good book. But right after sex Yola, went right back to hating her life. Sex caused brain fog for her. Nothing brought this couple together emotionally not even the killing of a murderer.

Life is forcing Yola to grow up fast

Yola is 20, a salt miner with a simple life in the lower realms of Earth, until the day her best friend decides he's tired of just being friends, and deserves more from the young woman. From that moment on everything in her life changes.

Thorne is a warrior who has searched for decades to find his perfect mate, and he is prepared to dedicate his life to the defense of her planet, whatever planet that may be, when he finds her, to prove his love. But Yola needs more, she's been traumatized by her community as well as the recent Leviathan attack, and now he must earn her trust, and convince her he is not out to use it hurt her.

This story is rich in world building, with interesting cultures and characters. The journey to find the free zone was a highlight.

What a journey

Hola could not be more head strung if she tried. Thorne has to be the most patient warrior in the Kazen fleet. I loved how he was willing to do anything she needed to help her come to terms with the loss and aduse's in her young life. Not to mention the injustices inflicted upon all the lower realms by the sky realm. I knew she would find her way. I think the way the Kazen warriors battle the Leviathans is amazing and wish it was a movie. The Leviathans remind me of an old creature feature movie I watched as a kid called The Gargantuans. Looking forward to book two and the downfall of the greedy Sky Realms. DanaLynn

Free vs flame

Yola yearns for her freedom and fights for it continuously. Can Thorne convince her her that she is his twin flame and that they are destined to spend the rest of their lives together? Enjoy!

To put it mildly I spent the whole book hoping she would be killed and the Hero would get a second chance at true love. The h was a selfish hateful little girl who refused to be any other way and couldn't even pretend to like the pushover of an H until she was told he might be dead. I understand she had experienced a lot of trauma but most of it she brought on herself with her own actions and if the hero hadn't been an awesome warrior they and other people including children would have been killed because she was feeling spiteful about her "slavery" to a guy who worships her very existence. Ugh. Rant over and all that now said the story itself was well written and I generally enjoy this authors and will continue to read them.

Twists and turns

I enjoyed the story. It had a lot of twists and turns but always kept me wondering what was next for Thorne and Yola. It does leave unanswered questions that I assume will be answered in later books.

A beautiful story

I loved this. Juno's characters jumped at me and made me have empathy for their struggles. As a fan of her other works, i can't wait for this to continue.

This was bad.

The story is so frustrating and annoying. the heroine has a death wish. Trust me I would be asking for a refund if it wasn't free on my kindle.

This could have been a great book but the so called heroine was sooo stupid. I just wanted her die. He deserved so much better than her.

This was not my favorite. I agree with others that the heroin was awful. This story was definitely missing something.
