In 28 days, you can take a journey that will change your life. Long ago, sacred texts held secrets we can unravel today. One word can change your life.

I am currently reading this book. I am on day 9. I think the first remarkable change in me - is that I am really grateful for a lot of things... Its a nice feeling. Take this book and go diligently with the recommendation.. It is a not a rapid read... :)
Updated review. Now I am on day 18. Its working. Am smiling most of the times
Well, I did read it through 24 days. I some how lost it on the 24 day & I really regret it. I might start all over again.
Highly recommended by me. Loved it & the exercises.
1. Deliberately think and say ‘Thank You’. 2. More deliberate ‘Thank You’, more gratitude feeling. 3. More gratitude feeling, more abundance.
This book relates to the law of attraction (both spiritual and scientific perspectives). There are 28 practices to be followed for 28 days. Out of 28 days of Gratitude Practice, 1st 12 days are for gratitude for what you have now and in the past. The next ten days are desires & dreams. The last six are for higher-level (helping others, dissolving problems, improving the situation).
It's important not to take the book too seriously or too casually. I followed the practices, having fun while also ensuring that I completed them on a daily basis. It's a step-by-step kinda self-help book. If you wish to bring gratitude into your life, I would recommend you to read this book. You only need to devote 15 to 20 minutes per day. It's possible that you'll find it repetitive, but that's the point. But then, "we become what we repeatedly do/think about".

So far this book is a painful slog through a torturous marsh of tangled words. If I wasn't already annoyed that the book is basically rehashing all the same messages from "The Secret" but replacing the "law of attraction" with "being thankful" , then I would still be tearing out my hair from the repetitiveness of it all. Not only that, but the author throws out ridiculous claims about studies that were done without any proof, and tells you to "rub your magic rock" without telling me how it works exactly. So much for her claims of mixing magic and science. She might as well just tell us to all stand on our heads and recite the alphabet backwards. Then money will fall from the sky and you'll never be sad again. Trying to take notes for the book club I'm in, but I keep having this incredibly powerful urge to stab the pencil into my eyeball. Especially when I came to the part about sprinkling magical frocking pixie dust on everyone. Sorry Rhonda, it's just not happening.
Rhonda Byrne is the lady who created the popular film and bestselling book, The Secret and her sequel book The Power. Her experiences in life led her to discover the Law of Attraction which then turned her life around. Her amazing ability to see the best in everything, to feel love for everyone and everything and to help so many people across the world has given her a wonderful insight into how we can all change our lives for the better. Rhonda opens her book with a stunning revelation. After explaining how the Law of Attraction works, and revealing how 'like attracts like' her amazing revelation is that the key to a truly abundant and happy life lies in the practice of gratitude.
This might not sound like much of a revelation to start with but evidence shows that the more we practice gratitude and give thanks on a daily basis, the more abundance will begin to flow to us. As well as the well known metaphysical facts about energy, she bases her opinion on the evidence of her own life and many others who have transformed theirs since discovering the Law of Attraction.
How grateful are you?
Rhonda's book features a course of exercises, helping us to practice gratitude so that we can improve every area of our lives and dissolve the problems or negative situations we're experiencing. Many of us believe we're already grateful but as Rhonda points out, she thought this was true of herself until she discovered the real power of gratitude and by practicing daily gratitude in every part of our lives, what a difference this can make.
Build your 'attitude of gratitude'
The exercises, designed to be followed every day for 28 days, help us to build an ' attitude of gratitude' almost like flexing and training a muscle in a gym. Before we start the daily exercise, the first thing Rhonda recommends is to be specific about our wants. Dividing our life into categories describe exactly what we'd like - she suggests Work, money, wealth, relationships, personal desires and material things.
Commit to your daily Top Ten
She then suggests on a daily basis every morning listing ten things we're grateful for (our Top Ten), and then writing down why we're grateful for them! Thinking about why we're grateful for something really helps to focus our mind and experience real gratitude. Rhonda also suggests we use a Gratitude Rock. This could be a smooth pebble or stone that you can hold in the palm of your hand. Keep it by your bedside and every night think of something that has happened that day that you're the most grateful for - hold the Gratitude Rock in your palm and give thanks for whatever it is you're thinking of.
These daily acts of gratitude help our positive thoughts build up into a permanent uplifting and happy vibe, cultivating this amazing thankful attitude on a daily basis is well worth thinking about!
Gratitude Rock
Each day as well as writing down our Top Ten at the start of each day, and using the Gratitude Rock in the evening before we go to sleep at night, we get to practice a separate daily Gratitude. Every exercise is designed to help us appreciate and enhance a different area in our lives, from health and wealth to work and relationships. Have we got relationships in our lives that perhaps aren't what they should be? At work, how often do we harbour bad feelings about how things are? What about our finances and how we feel about money? Any fears, doubts or worries that we carry around with us, will be producing more of the same.
Following the exercises in The Magic will change this situation by helping us to monitor our thoughts easily and so, by building up gradually over the 28 days, new ways of thinking become part of everyday life, allowing us to see the things we normally take for granted in a totally different light. Rhonda helps us to really appreciate what we have, even if it's not what we're ultimately aiming for and just by the simple act of practicing gratitude regularly, we start to attract more and more of the good stuff into our lives every day!
Gratitude to Rhonda
There will always be sceptics about this type of book, but I believe the proof is in the pudding. I've completed the 28 day exercises and feel differently about my life - more optimistic, more joyous, more appreciative. Dont knock it until you try it, is what I say!!! I'd highly recommend this to anyone who wants to develop themselves and positively enhance their lives for the better. Now I've finished the 28 day gratitude exercises, I feel really qualified to comment on how effective they were! (note to other sceptical reviewers!)
must read for all, everyone must not only read but also strictly follow this until it becomes a habit, my life is changing and i am sure it will change if i follow it throughout my life........
The Secret taught the world the law of attraction. The Power unleashed the law of love. In Byrne's latest book she drills down into something mentioned in the earlier two works: the law of gratitude.
Practice gratitude every day, Byrne teaches, and your life will transform. Studies done in the field of positive psychology advocate the life-transforming power of keeping a gratitude journal. Byrne walks you through how gratitude affects each area of life, health, wealth and relationships. But this book is more practical than the others, with a 28-day path to a life madeover by gratitude.
Since I saw the Secret, I've consistently kept a gratitude journal. I know that in my role as carer for my Grandma who has dementia that gratitude has helped me find super-reserves of patience as I promote her dignity and independence. I also know that I stil have days — sometimes straight after writing my gratitude journal — where I lose patience and flare-up. I'm still human, and I'm grateful for that.
I'm also grateful to Rhonda Byrne for writing this book because it will help me put a jet pack on my gratitude practice and it will help you live a life of gratitude wherever you're at now.
Whether you agree with its principles or not, this book accomplishes to put you in a state of mind of being happy and grateful for all that you have and I believe that is a trait we should always carry we us. In general it did help me just feel more joy about my days and situations. It was almost like a warm mothering blanket that told you everything is going to be ok. I myself, once I shifted my energies to be more grateful and happy, saw myself attracting better things and opportunities in my life. Whether they were always there or not, who knows, but now my eyes were open to see them when they did come. Did I get millions of dollars? no...not yet?...and maybe i need to focus more? I'll let you know, but this def. will help in a spiritual way and to also forgive those around you and let yourself have a little bit more peace of mind and not carry any unnecessary burdens or grudges, there's no need to waste time on negative things when the world needs more positiveness out of everyone.
Gratitude is not just giving thanks. It is more of a feeling.
Rhonda list down some steps which one can use to practice gratitude:
1. Count your blessings 2. Find a magic rock (any rock) and put it by your bedside, hold it and count your blessings for the day before sleeping 3. Choose three of your closest relationships and write five things you are most grateful about for each person 4. On a piece of paper or card write down: The Gift of Health is Keeping Me Alive 5. Take a dollar bill (any currency) and write on it: Thank you for all the money I've been given throughout my life 6. List ten things that you are grateful for about the negative situation 7. Create a magic board of all the things you want in your life and look at it several times a day
The more you practice gratitude, the deeper you will be able to feel it and the more deeply you feel it, the less time you will need to give it.
I don't know for sure if these practices actually result into anything. But I believe in the power of gratitude, with or without any specific steps.
In my opinion, practice of gratitude is important for us to feel good about ourselves and life in general.
She's BACKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK, with a new hocus-pocus mixed bag of new/old age wisdoms and aphorism. She's paced herself out this time around - 28 chapters labelled as "Days" - I smell a magical seminar just around the corner.
Quote on the first page of the book reads "By this means you will acquire the glory of the whole world" THE EMERALD TABLET (CIRCA 3,)))-5,000 BC) - Huh?
Why do I feel like Dorothy going to see the Wizard of Oz after reading this?
The Magic, by Rhonda Byrne (creator of the popular film and best selling book, The Secret), is not a book to just read. It is an interactive journey designed to help you experience gratitude on a very deep level. I will be forever grateful to Rhonda Byrne for showing me how to express my gratitude. EXPERIENCING the MAGIC of gratitude through EXPRESSING gratitude is exactly what this book is all about. Only halfway through the book I began experiencing a magnificent renewal of passion for living and believe me, my life has been no bed of roses.
In another review of The Magic, the reviewer said that the book is repetitive. Yes, it most certainly IS repetitive. This repetition is absolutely essential to increasing and deepening the power of gratitude in your life. By practicing gratitude on a daily basis, your gratitude WILL grow stronger. Here is my favorite part of the book: from page 83
"And just for today, see if you can get through one day without saying anything negative. It may be a challenge, but see if you can make it through ONE day. There is an important reason to do this, because most of us have no idea how much we speak negatively, but you'll have an idea after watching your words for a day. Remember that negativity and complaint bring more of those things, and if you're aware of what you're saying you can stop and decide if you want the consequences of what you're about to say. Here is a magic lifeline you can use if you notice yourself thinking or saying something negative. Stop immediately, and say: But I have to say that I am really grateful for _______. Finish the rest of the sentence with something - anything - that you're grateful for. Take this magic lifeline with you, and grab a hold of it whenever you need it. "
I share this here with you because anyone can use this little bit of grace in their life. After all, complaining is something we all do at times, but, Rhonda has given us a powerful mantra that can help reverse some of the negativity complaining creates. But I have to say that I am really grateful for.... these are such powerfully magic words. As far as I know, there aren't any scientific studies that actually prove these words can change anything; I only know that I feel better after saying them. This book is filled with powerfully positive vibrations that you must experience for yourself. Doing the 28 exercises in gratitude will fill your world with magic. I highly recommend reading The Magic.
I found this book to be incredibly hokey. Really, it was repetitive, and cheesy, and I had to force myself to finish it.
Nevertheless, Byrne is on to something important in this book, and I found that making myself slog through it helped me to get in touch with the power of gratitude to transform my experience of life.
I gave up on the exercises early on as they were time consuming and difficult to fit into my already packed life. However, just reading a chapter or three every day or so had a strong impact on my use of gratitude and my recognition for all that is right in my world. When we remember to be grateful, both verbally and energetically, we change our perspective from one of lack to one of bounty. This helps us to feel better, and according to Byrne, helps us to invoke all the good we can imagine.
I haven't manifested anything massive through these practices (yet) but I have to admit that I feel better, and I am noticing all the good that does come my way with clearer vision. Hot running water coming out of the tap. My general good health. A refrigerator. A car that runs. A house with room for all. This computer I type at. The information well that is the internet. My eyes, my hands, my ears. My family. A better job prospect and new opportunities that I had never before thought possible. Every single day, I give thanks for these blessings and more. And you know what? I do feel better. And things are looking up. Or at least, I am.
This is the third and final book in Rhonda Byrne's self-help series. I had assumed this to continuation and repetition of all that had been previously relayed to the reader and, so, was pleasantly surprised to find that this instalment was in quite a different vein to its predecessors.
This book invites the reader to put all their previously gathered information to the test with 28 simple practises and activities to be performed over 28 consecutive days. The focus of these was gratitude: gratitude for what and who you already have in your life and the wish to grow these good things into something more.
Within days of beginning these practises I really started to see the benefit in my daily life. It is hard to feel negative when giving genuine thanks for something. These easily accomplished exercises helped me to feel happier, kinder, and more in tune with all the wonderful things this life has afforded me. I was also more in tune with when I was focusing on the negative. I started to alter my perspective on things and actively look for the good around me instead. This only heightened my already soaring happiness and has led to me, 28 days later, as a far more mindful, grateful, and content individual.
I very much subscribe to this stuff. I like it a lot, and it has completely changed my life. That's the disclaimer here. If it's not your thing and you've tried The Secret or The Power then this is more than likely to inspire the same feelings those gave you. However, if, like me, you've read those and gained plenty from them, but found yourself sliding into the less positive in recent times, then The Magic, essentially a much more straightforward, plain-speaking, less mystic, more direct instruction book than its predecessors, is for you.
Contained within: 28 days of gratitude and positivity exercises. Thing is, it's 28 days. Do it, and if it doesn't do anything for you, then it's no more than a bit of 28 days you've lost. I have absolute confidence in the things within as being things that will enhance and remind me of all the wonder and, indeed, magic of life. These books have not just got me through all manner of tough circumstances, but they've given me many, many tools to brighten up literally everything around my life.
Truly, I am happier for these books. I am excited to have what, on first reading, very much feels like either a starter or refresher course, as applicable, in the methods and attitudes expressed in Rhonda Byrne's other books, and I am, heh, grateful for its existence. Recommended to buy if you liked the previous books, and to try if you haven't experienced either and have an open and willing mind to change some things.
This book gave you the secrets on how to "improve" your life in 28 days. If you want this magic to work, surely you should read this book slowly and read each sentence until you understand what does it mean. I am absolutely stunned on how much gratitude can bring to you. I've completed the book and i still continue to put gratitude in each day i live. It's wonderful.
My favourite of Rhonda Byrne's books so far. Easy to read and apply, and so profound. This book has literally changed the way I live my life. So very grateful to her for writing it!
So after seeing many of the reviews here. i thought i might as well leave my story.PLEASE READ!
well before reading this book, i never thought about gratitude much. and life was okay. things were good. but i saw this book one day at barnes n noble. and thought hey the cover looks neat. so i took it home and began the journey. i did the practices and felt gratitude everyday as much as i could. well a funny thing started to happen. after about a month. all kinds of things happened in my life. i got promoted at work, now making 40$ an hour. i came home one day and my roommate gave me these tickets to a fair, the tickets costed 35$ a piece but he gave me 6 for free! a few days later my little sister got back from mexico and had been using her phone in mexico and racked up a 1100$ phone bill! i kept my cool and called at&t and right before i was going to pay the bill in full the lady on the other end told me that she would take off 1000$ the bill! and then took 35$ off our phone plan. on top of that she said that for the next 12 months she would take 30$ off of our bill every month, i was in shock! i wrote in my journal for about 30 minutes that night with total gratitude. and thats not all. a week later i went to help one of my moms friends move some furniture around in her home, it took me about an hour. but after words she gave me 50$ and a brand new black leather office chair! the exact same office chair that i wanted. i couldn't believe it, i swear to god these things happened! this was only weeks after i finished the book and was practicing the gratitude laws.
i could write on here so many other things that happened to me shortly after reading the book. i will mention a few more because i want people to understand that this book totally changed my life. well one morning i woke up with a sore back, and so i started looking into buying a new mattress but i thought maybe a memory foam 4 inch pad on top of my bed would be better and more convenient. so i came home from work a few days later and my roommate said that his grandma had a memory foam pad that she gave him, but he didn't want it so he gave it to me! haha it was insane i swear it was crazy! i couldn't believe all this was happening to me! my life was never this magical ever! what happened to me a few days later was even crazier but you have to believe me!!! its a little weird of a story but bare with me. so one day i needed the bathroom but we didn't have any toilet paper, so i frantically searched everywhere around the house! i luckily found a box of tissues and took it in the bathroom with me, and i did my business.. (sorry i know this isn't the best story to share) and when i took out a few tissues out of the box the box tipped over and fell on the floor. and all the tissues fell out of the box and AT THE BOTTOM UNDERNEATH THE TISSUES WERE 5 $20 DOLLAR BILLS!!!! at first i kept on with my business and didn't pay them any attention my mind didn't even register that money was in this box! but after a few seconds i was like "what the heck is that money?" i sort of laughed to my self. and reached over and sure enough there was $100 dollars cash! i asked my friend later and he said that his grandma must have put the money in there before she passed away. i guess that was her hiding spot. but i kept the money and was extremely grateful that i had found it. and in such a bizarre way!! but god the universal law have so many ways to bless you! anything is possible. and i realized that this book helped me tremendously in attracting all kinds of great things in my life!
i seriously have so many more stories just like these, where i found money or a relationship was restored, got free gas!! haha i have so many things that happened to me after reading this book. i hope you guys don't think i made any of this up. i have shared my stories with many other people and they are always shocked at what great luck i have. but i know better. i know its because i am a deeply grateful person. and its all because of this book, thank you rhonda byrne. you might never see this review but your book has changed my life in so many ways. i have attracted so much wonderful experiences into my life. and anyone who really puts this practices to work will reap the benefits as i have. oh and I'm not much of a writer for forgive me for all grammar and spelling errors. :) god bless
Rhonda Byrne's first book 'The Secret' was one of the life changing books I've read in my entire lifetime so far. And my expectations from 'The Magic' was huge. The book is mainly about the attitude of gratitude and sadly it is only about that. The book's language is very simple and very impactful and I totally agree with the concept. I think this is great read of you haven't read 'The Secret.'But if you who already read 'The Secret' this may feel a bit stretched out. The idea is good but elongated.
I loved 'The Secret' movie when it first came out, and I do believe we all have the power to manifest our life (and are in fact doing so every minute of the day, whether we are conscious of the fact, or not). So this is a good reminder to do it consciously. This book is all about Gratitude - and offers 28 daily practices to ingrain gratitude into your thinking. And that can't be bad for anyone!! In this day and age, when people seem to spend more time focussing on what they don't have, than appreciating what they do, it's probably an excellent starting point. And if that leads them to really understand the power of their own hearts, then that is even better. The theory is, like attracts like, so while you spend your time being grateful for the good things in your life, even if they are just some tiny things to start with (and yes, even the worst off have plenty to be thankful for), those good things will grow, and by the end of it, you shouldn't have any time for anything but being grateful for the abundance in your life. There you go, that sums up the book. I'm grateful it was a quick and easy read. . My life is amazing, and I never want to take that for granted, so The Magic was a wonderful wakeup call not to. I know this stuff, it's Quantum Physics 101. But like all knowledge, unless we are practising it, it is completely redundant. So every now and then you need a bit of 101 to get the juices flowing again. This did for me. And I am esepcially grateful for being reminded to do so!
However, this author managed to write an entire book on this seemingly simple word. It does get repetitive after a few chapters as it explores the same value over and over again while reiterating its importance. Its written as a 'guidebook' in which over 28 days of practising gratitude can change your life. Well, it seemed rather absurd as i was reading it. It appears to be more of self-denial from my point of view.
Still i believe strongly in gratitude and being grateful, hence i did not chuck this book aside despite finding it rather unbelievable. It is not a book that people would really want to read but i find that many people NEED to read it. Not reading it as in taking the whole book seriously but using it as a reminder. This book came at the right time. It served as a good reminder that we should live life with gratitude. Not because it can grant direct material gains(as the book insists) but rather for making our lives more enjoyable. Take things for granted and you won't appreciate them.
