THIS IS THE FIRST BOOK IN THE TAINTED ANGELS SERIES AND IS A STAND ALONE NOVEL WHICH CAN BE READ BY ITSELF.
Willa Eden is used to being different. As an angel she shouldn’t have the dark thoughts she has on a regular basis. She is a soul saver for the Empyrean but since hitting her twenty first birthday, Willa knows she’s much more than that. So much more.
And it isn’t until she meets the arrogant and voracious demon, Rax Torres, that Willa finally finds out just how unique she is.
What should be impossible becomes possible and what her body should never crave becomes too formidable to ignore.
Willa’s unique blood can save the demons that are infected with The Virus and are dropping like flies around her – Rax included. All they have to do is taste a drop. But there’s a catch.
Willa’s blood will also kill anyone who is granted even a single drop.
This book contains explicit sexual scenes and strong language. It is recommended for readers age 18+
Enjoyed this apart from a few things, he made another woman pregnant even though he hasn't been with her since he met heroine but still I hate that and also he was prepared to let heroine go because he wanted the best for her but I like my hero's to not let go no matter what. Anyway I liked the heroine she was sweet and the hero really did love her,
This was an absolute sneak up behind you surprise! DH Sidebottom is making her way through all genres, and I’m usually not one that leans toward the paranormal reads, but this was beyond fantastic and kept my complete attention every second of the way!
This is a standalone story involving Willa and Rax, which will lead into this brand new series.
Willa is the light in this dark world, and she’s an amazing and inspiring woman. I may have a slight girl crush on her, just saying!
She’s put up against all sides of good and evil, and discovers a few secrets of her own that could change everything she thought she knew of her life.
Rax is our sexy, mysterious, and often misunderstood man of the so-called dark side. At first, you try to hate him, but just can’t seem to get there. He has a way of luring you into his sexiness, and that’s exactly what he does with Willa.
They have an instant connection that pretty much freaks her out, but exploring the situation is so much more intriguing.
We also get to see a glimpse of the other characters in the series, and it’s super exciting!
If you aren’t a paranormal fan, I’d definitely suggest giving this one a try, it’s brilliant and brings the heat!
Paranormal is one of my favorite genre, so I'm super excited when a talented author with romance decided to write my favorite genre. Something different outside the area she used to write. Yes, this is my first experience reading DH Sidebottom.
Willia and Rax born in two different races who compete all time, their name is a little difficult to remember but for simple, we call it angel and demon. They were both hunters who hunted human soul to be brought into their realm of Utopia or Hell. Willia and Rax has met since the first scene and felt a strange connection that never existed in the history of their race. They can be connected in the mind. Rax, hotter than Hell has claimed ownership of Willia from the beginning he could enter her mind. And Willia who is a kickass heroine; trying reject the claim. But the strange connection that continues to grow stronger and… BOOM!! The next thing I know he's been involved in intrigues, politics and internal conflicts of the demon.
DH Sidebottom has reinvented the urban legend of angels and demons that we already familiar with new name and new details. She also managed to create strong and attractive characters, even though there has not been consistent. Willia and Rax sometimes still behave, think, and talk a little bit different compared to how their trait has been described.
This has complicated story line because it contains a lot of new terms, which, although equipped with a glossary at the front but not clarified the contents section. It made me have to go back and forth between pages glossary and return to the chapter being read, it may be an additional footnote in each page would be helpful. The background of the story and races here still confuse me. Is this similar to the angels and demons from holy bible? Are AllMighty and God called here to do with Jesus who is often mentioned Rax? Crave told in dual POV and fast paced but wild and less focused, make sure you read with full concentration in order not to lose track of the story. Throughout the story you're going to be spoiled with action-packed battles supernatural scenes. Connection and chemistry between Willia and Rax are strong and super-hot, but not deep enough and feels an instant. The conflicts in Crave is a blend of sexiness between drama, humor, action paranormal with full of surprised twist.
Paranormal is a complex genre as the author should have more fantasies about the new world she would build, characters and creatures that must be created, complete with background and full of action that complements conflict. With the development of more powerful and deeper setting and background, Crave by DH Sidebottom will be a new promising paranormal series.
WOWZA! SO Different! SO FRKN GOOD! I just finished reading Crave by DH SIDEBOTTOM and what a fascinating thrilling action-packed supernatural ride! Crave is a delicious mixture of drama humor and sexiness, a suspenseful paranormal story that is highly addictive. I LOVED IT!! I love every second of reading this unique ingenious captivating story. I love Willa who is an inspiring, genuine "I –so- want- to- be- her" Heroine I love RAX who is assertive protective complex and just a downright SEXY Hero I love the different Realms that drew me into this supernatural world that I got lost in and loved the escape from reality I love the Storyline that gives us different and diverse Characters Oh the Characters … I love all the Characters in this book whose back stories build up the storyline for future books! Yes this book is a standalone but opens the way into a brand new series. “It is so going to be my new favorite” DH Sidebottom’s brilliant storytelling talent is reflected in this eclectic paranormal and it is a must read for everyone! Even if Paranormal is not your usual genre I can guarantee that DH Sidebottom’s suspenseful scorching erotic tale will put you on the edge of your seat and you will LOVE IT!! I did!!
Well what I say about crave I don’t normally read Para but... It’s D H Sidebottom and I love every one of her books so of course I had to give it a try and wow I was blown away Dawn can write anything and I will love it the connection I felt with Willa and Rax such great characters, throw in all the side ones and such a great bunch this book has it all I love Delilah I have to say without a doubt as much as I loved Willa, Delilah was my favorite and I have to say I can’t wait for more in this series.
One of my fave quotes
"I swear i shat my fucking soul out back there!" Delilah said as she frantically checked Willa over. "Snagged my Bastard stockings on a bloody Branch as well.
Well I'm not usually a paranormal fan or reader but you could knock me down with a feather!
This story is totally believable and definitely possible in an out of the box kind of way. The plotline as is now to be expected of DH is flawless and flows seamlessly. The strength of the characters throughout is Titan like <The connection I felt to both Willa and Rax had me hyperventilating and screaming in frustration at my kindle, which I have to say almost learnt to fly on numerous occasions.
Great story great book another one in the bag DH ! I can't wait for book #2
I was gifted a copy of this book for an honest review.. Reviewer for blog 2 Girls Who Love Books.
Firstly I would like to say that I am a huge huge massive fan of D H Sidebottom... And I have read every book she has ever done (and read in a least 24hrs after its release). I would like to say this.... IS THERE ANYTHING THAT THIS WOMAN CAN NOT WRITE??.. Everything she does is pure utter magic..I mean I love all her books and I do have to say that o do one click without even reading the blurb. Coz I know that I will love it no matter what.
I would also like to say this, that like alot of fans of DH Sidebottom I do follow her on social media sites and that my review is nothing but professional. And that does not and will not reflect on my huge geekness for DH Sidebottom.
This book is D H Sidebottom's first adventure into the paranormal writing and is completely different from her other books. So please do not compare them to another book written by her. As you will not find it. I would say that if you are a paranormal fan then you will love this. Bit if you are simply a fan (like me) you would be amazed by her writing style and the brilliant mastermind of DH.
Although this is a start of hopefully new series. This book is a standalone and can be read by itself.. So fingers and toes crossed for more.
When opening into this book not only are you met with a beautiful front cover, but also a glossary. This is key and must read it as it explains who is who.. What they are.. Species etc.. Please do not pass this and go as you will need to understand it and of the world that you are walking into (or reading). Personally I liked this little touch as in most paranormal books it doesn't contain this and that you are wondering what the hell they are.. So thank you. Means your not going in blind.
So I'm writing this review but trying to not go too much away as you must must read this.. And I don't wanna give away any spoilers. So sorry if its a little by passing.
So you follow the story of Willa Eden. She is different from the angels of Empyreans. But since hitting her 21st she realises she knows she is much more than meets the eye and is completely unique. And meets the sexy and hot demon Rax Torres.
So you follow Willa on journey of self discovery. With a little help on the way.. A little steamy action with Rex Torres. You find out who she is.. What she is.. Her love.. Lust.. Dreams..
In this book there are little moments that make you cry. And I really was sat on the edge of my seat going omg omg omg.. I loved every single line, paragraph, page, chapter of this book.
Not only did I love and feel in love with each and every character. But I liked how you got to know them, as the individuals they are. I loved how some characters got there own say and that the sorry wasn't lost during this. Your whole emotions get sucked into this book and becomes the air you breathe.. It literally takes your breathe away. This book keeps you on your tip toes and join the rollercoaster of your life. Your emotions and mind will be pulled and pushed in every direction. It makes you cry, fall head first in love and lust, delve into the deep dark world of the paranormal, and gets you fanning yourself during the steamy boom boom scenes, makes you cover your eyes at the eekk scenes.. This book sets your heart pumping and beating fastly right till the end. This book has it all.
D H Sidebottom's amazing skills as a writer are apparent. And is so spellbinding that you just can not put it down. You just have to know what happens next.
There is absolutely nothing I can say bad about this book. NOTHING.
SO I just wanna say please pick up.this book.. Either you are a paranormal fan or just a general fan of DH.. You will not be disappointed... I loved this book.. I have given this book a 5 star rating.. But add another 100 and I'll be happy..
Book Review - Crave by D H Sidebottom - ***** Para doesn’t come much better than this stars
Before joining the blog in April 14, I predominantly read Para, meaning I read about vampires, werewolves, shifters, fae, witches, succubus - you name it, I read it - I just don’t push into fantasy, mainly because if it takes too many brain cells to think how to pronounce all of the names of people and places, I just don’t stay in the story.
Anyway, I digress. So before the blog, lots of para - since blogging, para has been few and far between. That’s for a few reasons. Firstly, because most of what I am asked to review is NA fiction and secondly, because I’ve been spending this time discovering new authors. I hadn’t even had time to think about the fact I never read Para anymore, until I heard Dawn was writing this book.
When my sister got the chance to beta read this book, I seethed with jealousy and sat on my hands until I could get them greedily on my review copy.
Settling down, I hoped for two things, that I still loved paranormal and that Dawn could pull this off - I mean she’s sprinkled fairy dust over all other genres before so I had faith that this would also be golden.
I dived in and was entranced. The whole story of opposing forces, the battle between light and dark, shades of grey inbetween, forbidden joinings, and things not being as they seemed.
Goddamn, I want to spend a day in Dawn’s head and just wonder at where she get’s this brilliance from.
Willa is such a headstrong character, a seraph who doesn’t fit the box people try to fit her in. If she’s all angelic, why does she wonder why they bother cleansing the souls of arseholes who don’t deserve it? It’s great to see characters questioning their calling, and what they know as truth, especially in such a divine setting.
The world building with the dimensions was spot on and I loved the spirit siblings they were given (Lincoln’s book please!) My emotions were on a veritable rollercoaster following Willa’s path to the conclusion. Or is it………….. because so much still remains in the balance, so much remains unwritten, that I can’t help but wish and hope that Dawn feels the need to scratch this itch further and give me more in this world.
And Rax, give me more Rax baby - I’ll give you some of his own words so you can swoon with me:
“I see you, Willa. The real you. What you need. What you want. God I have never wanted someone like I want you.”
Thud.
I’m dead.
Rax, just kills me every time.
Read it and weep at its brilliance. Then go and beg Dawn for some more…………..
Whatever it was, it was the same sheer brilliance that I have come to expect from DH Sidebottom. Even though this is her first dip into the pool of paranormal, it was a dive of Tom Daley proportions! I'm not sure any sort of review I write will do it justice. So, I guess you've figured I'm a fan anyway. Of epic proportions...but if this was shit I wouldn't be afraid to say it. Good job it's not.
Sidebottom does a wonderful job of giving her characters a sense of reality. Despite the fact they are Angels and Demons, you can really connect with them. Most of the time you wouldn't even know they weren't human. I absolutely adore the relationships between all the characters, the way they interact, the way they all pull together in spite of their history as a race. The human interaction is great...I really love both Bobby and Miller and can just imagine their faces at certain scenes! The story pulls along at a nice pace. There's enough drama to keep your heart thumping, enough down time to let your brain catch up with the who, what, where why and whens. The sex scenes are hot enough to make you tingle, Rax is bad boy enough to make you stutter but sweet enough to make you melt.
I love the little tinges of Britishness, the times there's a twist to the story that takes you by surprise. The times you think you've got the whole sorry affair sorted and wham...you got it wrong.
This is a whole new side to DH Sidebottom and I'm really pleased she explored it. I just hope she carries on going and we see the next battle in this war!
D H Sidebottom has never written a paranormal novel well she has now !! . When an author steps out of their comfort zone and into the unknown the question is can Sidebottom write paranormal ? The answer is YES YES YES !!! She not only writes it she smashed it !. I think paranormal is one of the hardest genre's to write the descriptive language, different creatures, spirits ,realms can be challenging not only to write but also to read. Crave had an enthralling storyline connectable characters and was written so not only new readers to this genre would be able to follow easily and totally enjoy, but also seasoned paranormal reader would be sucked in be hooked from the very beginning and I feel she accomplished this. The connection between Will a and Rax is brilliant, hot, intense and passionate . The background characters all work together and played a big part in the storyline especially Dehlia. I loved her I think she was my favourite character in the book, funny, sexy hardass who's been to hell and back ( pun intended) but come out so much stronger . I would love Dehlia in her own book . Crave is the start to what I think is going to be an unbelievable series and a testament that D H Sidebottom has a talent second to none and can write any thing she turns her mind too . Fabulous five stars for me.
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review. Paranormal stories are not my usual go to read but I do love a good Angel/Demon story. When this one came up on the list to read and I am so glad I read it. I loved everything about it. With Willa and Rax being from different realms and fighting each other, I hoped they would work things out to be together and that is what happened. They were drawn to each other and it is a great thing that they were. With Willa learning new things about herself and he future, can she trust Rax to be by her side through it all? Rax and Willa are to be mated and when that happened things will change for them both. Can you trust that D.H. Sidebottom will take you into the other realm as if you were there? YES she can. This is a first for me from D.H., not to say that I don't have other books from her, because I do and I need to read them too. I can't wait to see what she has in store for the rest of this series. So if you love a great paranormal story then you should grab this one and hang on, it is worth the ride into another world.

D.H. Sidebottom writes Paranormal?!? This genre isn't my normal "cup of tea", more like a pallet cleanse (if you will) but - WOW! I was seriously impressed. The story starts full octane - we're running with Willa who's being chased by the bad guys. Did I mention that Willa is an angel? Not the traditional winged variety (which is described later in the story), but still a soul saver. Upon being cornered by the dredgen (think vampires), she forms a psychic link to Rax (her arch nemesis). And the story starts!! Impossible becomes possible, improbable becomes probable, and mysteries unravel.
I enjoyed the characters, the action, the plot - the everything. I was sucked in immediately and couldn't stop until the entire book was read. I loved the worlds: Empyrea, Gehenna, and Earth and I believe you will to, if you give it a try!
~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for a Wicked Reads~~
The first in a new series (and genre for the author) this book does a great job of telling an excellent story but also building a new paranormal world in readiness for future installments. I am not usually an angels and demons reader, but had faith in the writing of Ms Sidebottom.
I loved the set up, I found the premise interesting and undoubtedly the lead characters are hot, sexy and highly desirable. I found the plot to be believable and am looking forward to reading more. The story definitely stood on its own, but enticed the reader to want more! If you have a desire to suspend belief a little, and want an exciting and sexy read, then this is for you.
Wills and Rax!!!! OMG what have you done to me DH!!!?? Just when I've become used to her wicked way of writing she goes and throws a paranormal bugger at me. But am I even so blood happy she did! I love a good paranormal as good as the next person, now scratch that I'm obsessed with them. But lately I found myself glossing over them and picking something else to read. I am so happy I didn't do that with this. The world DH created for Willa and Rax was mind blowing. I'm already thinking 'wouldn't it be amazing if this was a tv series!!?' Yes I'm pure ADDICTED now. I need more of Willa And Raxs world. I really hope we get more even through the secondary characters from.book one. There ones I would love book two to be. I won't say, but if your like me you'll want them to ;)
This book transports you to a world where the Empyream ( angels), the Gehenna(demons)who fight each other for souls, also mingle with humans and they bring their war to our world. Willa is a healing angel and Rax is a halam and he wants Willa’s blood as it is the cure for the virus that is killing him. They both have an immediate connection and they both advised to be separated since their classes are enemies, but they are unable to resist the attraction. In addition, Willa will discover more about her origins, her family, her powers and her destiny. A very entertaining and fun read.
Review also to be posted on Book Loving Fairy Blog . . Star Rating: 4 Stars
Ok..first off let me just say that I have never read anything paranormal like EVER!
Also, this is my first book to read by D.H. Sidebottom, I mean I have others that I one clicked but I haven't read them yet and now I am going to. With this being my first in this genre I am blown away and I loved it. Paranormal was never a direction I thought I would take but I truly loved this book and want more! The whole Angels & Demons aspect is what made me want to read this book. Truly one to remember and I hope if you have the chance to read this you will because it is amazing. Definitely going to read more from this author. You will connect with these characters on a whole new level and it is insightful and eye opening.
I love paranormal with all my heart. It is by far my favourite genre and as a result I can be a little picky. With the influx of indie authors I haven't read anything by unknown authors or anyone not highly recommended. A few friends recommended this book and prior to this book I had heard the author was an excellent writer. I believe this is her first attempt at paranormal.
Firstly, I really enjoyed the plot. There were twists and turns that kept me interested and keen to find out what happens and if you've read any of my reviews before, you will know that this very important to me in a book.
My criticism lies with the character development and the overall lack of description.
When I read paranormal I am entirely using it as an escape from reality, therefore I need the author to be very detailed in everything they describe so that for those few moments where I'm reading I can be fully immersed in the book and transported to the world far away from reality (yes, I am that much of a geek). It needs to be so descriptive that I will occasionally question my own religion while I'm in that world. You need to be able to convince me that this story could really happen.
The author describes the world as being being created by The Almighty, who then goes on to create God and Diablo. So when I hear some of the characters saying "Jesus" my first question is..."is Jesus real in this book?" I need the back story to be solid.
The battle between good and evil has been going on for eons yet Willa and Rax seem to divert from their intended paths with very little pushing. There was hardly any resistance to go against nature and once again scenes lacked description. For all intents and purposes Rax is the son of evil personified but lord Jesus he gets mushy very quickly.
Willa is supposed to be fighting the good fight for good. One minute she's this brash confident soldier of good and then I'm sure not even a chapter later it turns out she can't fight and lacks confidence in herself.
Consistency needs to be key.
The passion between the characters is believable and the sex scenes are definitely hot but again considering they are meant to be opposite sides of the fight there really wasn't that much angst and fight just the occasional whining from Willa that got a little annoying.
There's so much happening in this book, especially in the back scenes that things needed to be explained more so that every characters presence in the book was understandable. Chapters switched between main characters and a couple of side characters and personally I didn't understand why this was done because it didn't add anything to the main story for me.
I did like all the characters which is a rare feat but I needed to know more about them.
Overall an enjoyable read that I am sure most people will like.
Okay before reading this review please not I have never read para and this was my first go at trying to read it so please go easy on me.
This is the story of Willa and Rax 2 people who are from different realms but 2 people who should not be hungry for each other either! Willa is a Seraph which is an Empyrean Angel and she starts off pretty weak but soon learns that her inner/outer angel/demon along with her past can make her stronger and more powerful. Rax is a Gehenna Demon so you know what they say opposites attract but can both of them together unite their realms as one and find the secrets they need to know to keep both their realm worlds safe?
I went into this book with an open mind. I'm going to be honest and say I really struggled the first half of the book, mostly due to my lack of knowledge in the paranormal world. The glossary was a godsend to say the least and I'm glad the author included it. In my own honest opinion I have to be honest and say I'm not a converted para reader yet, however the story itself drew me in especially when I got used to the different worlds and meanings. The writing as per usual from this author is flawless and flows well with the right amount of angst and plot twists in the right places. There was a couple of parts where I thought the humerous banter was a bit out of place for a para book but then that may just be me as I have no idea how humour in para books goes. I gave this 4 stars just because for my first para book I think it was just to many things for me to take in at once so my lack of knowledge hindered the enjoyment slightly for the first half of the book. I encourage all you para readers to grab this and Enjoy! Xxx PS I will be reading the next book in the series because I need to know how the overall story pans out.
OMG where to start !!! I absolutely fell totally in love with this book. I haven't read Para for over 2 years but I literally could not put this book down. I was so engrossed I didn't even realise I was nearing the end of the book until I was at the epilogue. There isn't a book of D H Sidebottom that I don't love, and when she said that she was writing a Paranormal book, I was like "oh do I really want to read that" I am so glad I did. Willa and Rax supernatural being's from different realms. Spirits, Angels, and all different beings and more angst than my poor mind could actually handle. I found myself transported to a place far away from reality and I loved it with all my heart. Mixed with the humans, you can only imagine what dilemmas arise. I found myself holding my breath as I was turning the pages, anticipation at it's up most level. I cannot praise DH Sidebottom enough for the level of imagination that it must of taken to write this book, I am in awe of this lady. I wanted to be them, I wanted to go to the places they went, hang out with the people they did. Live in their realms, it was so convincing. Full of love, hatred, passion, fear, sexiness, the list goes on. This was DH Sidebottom's first Para book and I sincerely hope it won't be the last, I am already waiting for the next one. It was that good !!!
D H Sidebottom has never written a paranormal novel well she has now !! . When an author steps out of their comfort zone and into the unknown the question is can Sidebottom write paranormal ? This book was promising but it lacked originality.
If you ask me what this book is about I'll tell you this: I have read this book before, and its name is Fighting Destiny by Amelia Hutchins. The only difference is that Crave is about angels and "demons", while Fighting destiny deals with Faes. I have read two books out of the 4 ones in the FAE CHRONICLES and the plot in Crave saddens me, because I felt like I was reading some bad fan fiction.
But not all was bad. There were some awesome skills that the main protagonist had, and there was some spark of uniqueness in the book. But aside from it by half of the book I was annoyed. I'm not rating Crave because, although I finished the book I skipped most of the end.
Crave-is just brilliant. Taken along on Willa's journey to greater things-& believe me I was hooked from page one. Crave was full of twists & turns but totally believable. I love how I felt pulled into the story & involved with the characters. This book had it all for me, a brilliant story that was easy to follow, awesome characters-especially Delilah, twists, tension & some real laugh out loud moments.
Massive well done to D H Sidebottom on an epic start to the Tainted Angels series, I personally can not wait for more :)
This is a paranormal romance by an author i love but have never read anything like this from her before. I really really enjoyed it, i feel the angel side of paranormal is an area i need to read more of and this book certainly hit that spot. It is intense and romantic and kept me captivated. As this is a stand-alone in this new series i cannot wait for more from this series. I kinda have a huge book crush on Willa and Rax loved them together and individually. Not going to reveal anymore just say paranormal is looking up in my books with this new series to come.
I've never read a book from D.H. Sidebottom, and had never heard of her, until someone posted a quote from this book in a book group I'm in on Facebook. The quote made me laugh, so I went to amazon and read the sample. Wow! I was blown away by what I read and I couldn't wait to download. I really enjoyed the word play she gave us. She pulled me right in, and I loved all the characters.
She says this is the beginning of a series, and this is a stand alone book, but I can't find anything else about other books in this series. I hope they come out soon.
As a fan of D.H. Sidebottom and pretty much anything she has written I was always going to like this book, however this is so different from anything she has written and to be honest I wasn't sure how it was going to work out.
Well I can say it worked out well. I don't mind a well written fantasy romance book and whilst this may not be the most well written it certainly is original and it kept me hooked.
