This was a really good volume. The new arc is going to be great and all of these new characters look great. I am actually excited to learn what's going to happen. We also learn a great deal about Dreyfus, Hendrickson, and the past in general. There are also a lot of personal storylines for the major characters. I have a feeling that the upcoming volumes will make up for the past mistakes in the previous volumes. In short, this is a very good volume and a great introduction to the new arc.
Pretty mild. But I like the "side stories", as I've gotten to know more of the characters. And I just realized that there sure are a lot of characters in this manga! But it doesn't feel like most of them are just there. They each have their parts to the whole story. Galing!
--- Merlin: Once you assign meaning to seemingly unnatural actions, a completely different answer comes to light. Sincerity becomes malice. Reality becomes illusion. Meaning comes to the meaningless... Think about it. Then you will find your own answer. If people stop thinking, they're done for.
Definitely a transition book, BUT holy macaroni if this was a great volume. I was at the eadge of the (train) seat the whole time and I could totally feel a change in the atmosphere.
A new arc is coming and it looks way darker than before.
This is the beginning of a new story arc. The king has a new omen and sees trouble coming to the south headed for Camelot so assigns the Seven Sins to go there and stop whatever evil they will find. Meanwhile, they have two days to get ready and in this time practically every single character has a personal storyline going on. It's unbelievable how much stuff happens in this volume! Some are major events, powers, etc. while others are romances that have been brewing for a while. An exciting volume that leaves many storylines dangling to be picked up in the next volumes. Love this series!
Gosh I really do love this series, even if I did start with the anime. . . Which for anyone else who's come here because of that, season 1 ends on book 13 of the manga series.
Yay! I'm glad that Hawk's still alive! He brought humor and some balance to the story.
So Hendrickson didn't' die, Dreyfus made sure of it. Their little plot did include Dreyfus though we were all believing he wasn't as tied in. Dreyfus helps Hendrickson in going through with a ritual that we thought had been jeopardized. A group comes through and that's all I'm going to say. Except you know this group isn't another bunch of good guys. . .
Cliffhanger from the last volume is that Ban. BAN! Handsome Ban. . .um anyways, yeah Ban's actually the Fairy King! Elaine bestowed the gift of a seed to Ban to help bring the Fairy King's Forest back. They're all super mad at King because he abandoned the homeland to help his friends. Leaving Elaine in charge and to also face the destruction of the forest.
Of course King is heartbroken to find out such things, even though it's true. You do feel sorry for King but I mean he did kind of up and leave. King has to face and deal with these problems but thanks to a gift his late best friend gave him, I think he'll pull through.
Merlin gave Hawk a new ear tag, only this one has a little bit of a gift. Hawk can know see the levels of people. Broken down into three categories. Similar to gaming and seeing the strengths and difficulty a character is.
The Seven Deadly Sins have a new agenda. Something bad is a brewing in Camelot with Arthur and they're requested by Bartra to find out what's going on. But will Elizabeth be able to join them?
Like most good series there's some climatic scenes toward the end featuring Gowther, and wow! It also ends with an intense cliffhanger that'll make you eager to pick up the next copy. Also feelings are placed out in the open and you want to know what'll come of it! Agh so many things but I don't want to add spoilers!
Language of course and some cleavage, not to mention Meliodas being Meliodas with Elizabeth. I still love this series and am ready to read on!

Finally we're starting to tackle some of the stranger things about King's backstory. Frankly I still don't think it makes sense that he was away for so long, but at least the story isn't just sweeping it under the rug.
This is also a standout Ban chapter. He really is just a misunderstood man trying to do the right thing, but desperately wants to avoid the attention.
The Gowther stuff though is really uncomfortable, and I really don't understand what he is meant to bring to the story in a positive sense. It's really the only thing making me hold off from giving this a 5/5, given it's such a big part of the volume.
I also fear that combat classes, while useful, may start to overly dominate the series and simplify further a combat system that is already relatively simplistic.
The best part by far though is Gilthunder, Griamore and Howzer trying to uncover the mystery of Dreyfus, and the revival of the 10 Commandments! Very excited to see more. This is taking a lot of things in the story that seemed a bit off regarding the relationships of Dreyfus and Hendrickson and weaving them into a story with a mystery that is continuously expanding. I think this is something that can only be done in this type of story where the reader is almost picking up halfway through, which makes the story and setting slightly more malleable and makes it easier to subvert expectations.
Okay, as much as I adored everyone (except Jericho, always Jericho) in this volume, specifically Diane and King, there is waaaaaay too many different agendas and plot points going on. I understand that there had been many agendas juggled in previous volumes, but so far we have:
1. Ban going to the Fairy King's Forest to try to revive Elaine.
2. King dealing with being branded a traitor by his own people and his feelings for Diane.
3. Diane and Elizabeth struggling with their feelings for King and Meliodas respectively.
4. Dreyfus being possessed by a demon and helping a still alive Hendrickson revive the Ten Commandments.
5. Meliodas confronting Merlin about her stealing his memories ten years ago.
6. Gowthur manipulating Guila's memories to make her in love with him because he wants to understand emotions.
7. Diane and Gowthur's fight (which was honestly really cool) over the previous reason.
Yeah, guys. All of this stuff is happening in one volume, and the volume is constantly jumping all around to show all of these situations. To say it is overwhelming would be the understatement of the year. This was a good volume, don't get me wrong, but there is just way too much going on and it's really hard to follow everything.
The manga that was turned into the anime of the same name, volume 14. This book covers the same material as the rest of Season 3 episode1 and 2, plus the beginning of episode 3
The main difference between the book and the show is When Ban and company arrive to see Elain's dead body. In the show, she is tastefully dressed lying in state. But in the book she is nude and I think that is in poor taste. Otherwise, the book and show are fairly similar. They go into more detail as to why/how the 'Troublesome Trio" investigate Dreyfus and Hendrickson's betrayal. But otherwise, it is very similar to the show. I also like the idea that Helbram wasn't just back to guide Harlequin because he wanted to or because Elaine asked him to... but that he had also been kicked out of the Necropolis and had nowhere to go in his afterlife as a result.

In this volume, the demon race is revived after 3000 years and with it, we have the revival of the Ten Commandments, which is the Demon King's elite force. The race is revived by Hendrickson and Dreyfus, who is possessed by a demon. In Liones, Meliodas tells Merlin of the revival of the commandments and Diane and Elizabeth have a confrontation with Gowther. The story is good and for the most part, I like the characters, however, Gowther just annoyed me so much in these chapters.
Absolutely love the anime so figured I would give the manga a shot, and boy was I half I did. The manga is, in my opinion, far superior to the already outstanding anime. If you like the anime and story of The Seven Deadly Sins, give the manga a go, you won't be sorry.
The only highlight for me here is the revival of the ten commandments other than than it was sort of boring, but i'm so hyped for the demon clan, things are about to get really interesting
So Diane remembers King! Ban is the new fairy King and he has Elaine's body! King still sees Helbram, at Elaine's command. Hendrickson is still around and Dreyfus is too but seems to be more than human, awakened 10 demons! Gowther! WTF!?! What did Merlin steal from Meliodas?

Ban leaves the Sins and King goes after him, Diane regain her memories and encourage Elizabeth to confess her feelings to Meliodas. The new arc is starting and it totally does attract the attention.
