Sphere of Irony #4

Wreck: Hawke

Rate this book
Hawke Evans is the drummer for the Grammy winning Sphere of Irony. The quiet, tattooed and pierced hottie behind a pair of geek chic glasses is hiding a seriously troubled adrenaline junkie with a death wish.

Abby Kessler is studying psychology at UCLA. Her
desire to help those fighting mental illness stems from a life-changing incident in her past.

When Abby meets Hawke backstage at a local club, she’s instantly attracted to his bad boy good looks. But when she discovers the damaged man beneath the beautiful
exterior, she’s compelled to make up for past mistakes.

How long will it take for Hawke to realize his reckless
behavior isn’t only endangering him, but the hearts of those around him? How long will it take for Abby to see that she can’t help someone who has no desire to be fixed?

Heather C. Leigh is the author of the Amazon best selling Famous series. She likes to write about the 'dark' side of fame. The part that the public doesn't get to see, how difficult it is to live in a fishbowl and how that affects relationships.

Heather was born and raised in New England and after spending 15 years in Atlanta, GA, currently lives north of Houston, TX with her husband, 2 kids, and French Bulldog, Shelby.

Heather loves the Red Sox, the Patriots, and anything chocolate (but not white chocolate, everyone knows it's not real chocolate so it doesn't count) and has left explicit instructions in her will to have her ashes snuck into Fenway Park and sneakily sprinkled all over while her family enjoys beer, hot dogs, and a wicked good time.

My favorite authors are Dan Wells, Ken Follett, and Stephen King.

Happy reading!

Hawks is sleeping with OW through 90 % of the book. He says he loves the h but continuously parades women in front of her and then takes them in the back room to have sex or bjs. He is still doing this at almost the end. He has sex for days in his condo in Colorado with some Hollywood tramp while she is having a breakdown. Nice. Then he proceeds to take a woman to the bathroom of a club for sex in front of Abby. Wtf? How does she keep crawling back to him??? Self respect anyone? She's got a Ph.D. And she's a psychologist. I mean what is she doing going back to him? That is not love at all. You don't do that to someone you love and parade it right in front of her. NO! I hated Hawke. He was weak and a manwhore scumbag. He loved her so much he spent 3 days screwing some slut "all over his house" and he names the rooms. He comes back in a great mood. Then doesn't contact Abby even AFTER he finds out she had a breakdown. He's a loser and POS. Hated him and hated that she was a doormat for him.

Yuck. Could not see why Abby suffered such low self esteem to have spent so much time caring for Hawke. I couldn't understand why he he cheated. Yes, cheated. It pretty much turned me right off Hawke.

I understood him cutting and reckless recreation but cheating was @$$holerly.

Hawke, Hawke, Hawke. How utterly broken you were and how blind-sided I was to that fact.

If you've read any of the Sphere of Irony series, you probably know there is a pattern to each band members. They each have a huge issue that needs to be dealt with before they can find their HEA. What I didn't expect was for Heather Leigh to wait until the last freaking book to pull out the almost completely broken alpha male that would almost break me.

Hawke was always the quiet member of Sphere of Irony. Happy to stay in the background, I never picked up on anything really be "wrong" with him...even in Gavin's book. But I soon discovered Hawke was all kinds of messed up and that left me wondering how in the hell he managed to crawl out of bed and function in the band. It broke my heart to see the man that devastated seventeen year old boy turned into and how he had gone as long as he did before he finally realized he needed serious help to pull himself together. It was sad, heartbreaking and many times frustrating.

Abby gave Hawke enough reasons to try and fix what was broken in him, but Abby was almost as bad as Hawke. She too suffered something horrible at seventeen that forward changed her world. And as a fixer, Abby took another path in her attempt to make amends for what happened. She became a psychologist to help people, except she never took the time to take a look at herself to understand what she was doing. But Abby finally saw what she was doing (it only took about 7 heart tramplings before she did) and took the steps to get better. It made it easier to want Abby to find happiness, somewhere, when she stopped being a doormat for Hawke.

This was a very challenging book to get through. Hawke's emotional state often had me on the same roller coaster Abby was on. There were times when I had to put my kindle down and walk away for a minute because Hawke or Abby did or said something that made me mad. But when I got to that moment where Hawke finally understood what he was doing to himself, his band mates, his uncle and to Abby, it made the emotional journey worth it.

Heather C. Leigh once again brings us a stellar story. It pushed the envelope for me, but it was the perfect ending to a series that has been an absolute pleasure to read.

I received an ARC from the author for a honest review.

To start I have to say I came into reading this book with mix feelings. I have fallen in love with these characters over the last 9 or so books and knowing this was going to be the last makes me sad. That being said I was excited to read Hawke's book since he has been the most allusive character in the Sphere of Irony series.

Hawke known as the quiet one of the band, so in each book as we learned about the others Hawke has been in the back, we know there is pain but dont know why.

Abby has her own demons to the point where she wants to fix all those around her and where she loses herself in the process. On paper they shouldn't work, but as their friendship grows the love for each other grows with them and never goes away over the span of a decade. Their journey is what drives this story and how they learn how-to fix themselves to be able to love others.

Heather Leigh does yet again what she does best, shows you a glimpse of true pain and heartache that makes the characters work for their happiness and you as the reader root for them every step of the way. Its the reason I keep coming back to her books time and time again.

The other great thing is we get to see some of our other favorite and not so favorite characters from the past 2 series and of course the bandmates themselves. The epilogue is a fun celebration of these characters and I loved the wrap up.

All in all another great story from Heather and while I am sorry to see these characters go I can't wait to read what is next from this great author.

Wreck is Book #4 in the Sphere of Irony Series by Heather C Leigh it can be read as a Standalone but you don't want to miss out on the rest of these amazing stories.

Hawke Evans is the drummer for the grammy winning band Sphere of Irony, we've seen him in past stories always in the background and very mysterious. What we know is he lives his life on the edge with very reckless behavior and in this story we find out the demons he's been living with and hiding from everyone.

Abby Kessler is the sweet kinda naive best friend of Kate (Dax's wife) who is studying psychology, when she goes to a concert to see Sphere of Irony Abby is drawn to their bad boy tattooed drummer Hawke.

Abby and Hawke begin a whirlwind relationship the sexual chemistry is scorching but both are hiding past demons, and past guilt which ultimately tear them apart.

We see flashbacks of the past from these two characters and the find the reasons for their behavior, it is heart wrenching I was in tears I wanted to reach out and grab these two and hug them. I went through a roller coaster of emotions watching these two fall apart.

Abby tries to heal and fix Hawke but when things get out of hand and his behavior becomes much more reckless she ends things between them both.

Seven years later both Hawke and Abby are reacquainted through mutual friends we get to witness the bond these two still have for each other and watch how they work out their struggles. It's not an easy road by far, but with love and dedication and the path of healing themselves individually we get one of the most beautiful love stories.

I highly recommend this story.

"From the wreckage, beautiful things can grow."

I am obsessed with the men from Sphere of Irony. Yes, I know they are not a real band. Yet their band members are amazing and so are their friends. In each book in this series the reader gets to know another member better. In each book all the members are involved in the story.

This is Hawke’s story. Throughout the other stories there were hints to the pain he was suffering from, yet the reader does not find out what is causing the pain until his story. While he starts as a selfish prick with no care for anyone else but himself, he quickly turns into someone that you want to take care of. He needs help. He refuses to get the help.

Enter Abby. As a student studying psychology she knows that Hawke is hurting and needs to get help to be able to move past it. What is not shared until partially into the story is Abby’s history and the pain that she is suffering from. The two of them together are amazing. Their feelings are obvious and openly shared. Yet, they hold each other at arms length. Not allowing the other into their safe circle, keeping secrets, and hurting each other over and over.

When it is revealed what Hawke’s real problem is I was not surprised. The topic of mental health is not easy. Yet Heather C. Leigh manages to write a story that does not take it lightly. She understands how serious the topic is and handles it with respect and care.

I recommend checking out this entire series. Each book can be read as a stand-alone yet are even better when read together.

1st I have to say Hawke is my favorite character from the entire series!!! we knew he had pain, no one knew why.. but he was the quiet, funny, lovable character. Then we find out and then BOOM Heather rips your heart into shreds and you just want to cuddle him!!!

we meet Abby, she is super sweet and cute-funny... also super smart... but what i didn't know about Abby is that she has an emotional past... almost as dark as Hawke... they are adorable together, but very co-dependent. they both enable each other unhealthy need... Hawke's wanting to keep distant and extreme dangerous sports and Abby's sense to try and heal everyone and then get upset if she can't heal you.

this book is over the course of 7 years of knowing each other and what they have to over come... it was adorable, it was funny, but most of all it was an EMOTIONAL ROLLER COASTER!!!

The best part is Heather C Leigh took a senstive subject and intertwine into the subject of Bio-polar disease, PTSD and other mental illnesses, with normal people struggling each and every day. It was beautifully well written with an wonderful HEA... you want a beautiful heart filled angst book, that has you wanting to slap and cuddle the main characters... promise this is your book!!! I give 5 stars for taking this subject of mental illnesses and making it into a fun/romantic love story

I loved this addition to the series!!

How much tragedy can 2 people endure in their lives prior to each other and still make it work together?? Is love the cure or is the promise of love enough to find the cure for yourself?

This book was in equal measures a love story and a tragic tale that for awhile had me really thinking I was not going to get the ending that I wanted!

10/30:
As I was setting up my post to go live on The Book Reading Gals I read the excerpt and was reminded all over again the real and lush and hypnotic way that Heather C. Leigh has with words. She can draw me into a scene and bring it to life!

I loved this addition to the series!! This is only the second book that I have read from this author, the first being Resist, and I know that I will be exploring her backlist ASAP.

How much tragedy can 2 people endure in their lives prior to each other and still make it work together?? Is love the cure or is the promise of love enough to find the cure for yourself? Oh man! My heart! This book spans over a decade and was in equal measures a love story and a tragic tale that for awhile had me really thinking I was not going to get the ending that I wanted!

Going in to Hawke's book I just knew from the small information we had on him that we were going to go on an emotional roller coaster and Heather C. Leigh did just that. She gave us a story that's filled with so much emotion that it's gut wrenching and heartbreaking and honest. This book spoke to me on such a personal emotion level that I can still feel those emotions swirling in my heart.

I What I love about Heather's stories is that she uses subject matters that you don't find in other books and she is able to do it in such a magnificent beautiful way that the subject matter is respected and embraced. She doesn't shy away from talking about serious subjects such as PTSD and mental illness but she also shows you how there is hope and how one can live through it!

I loved every minute of Hawke and Abby's story and even though their journey was long and the path was filled with a great deal of bumps along the way it was also beautiful. It shows us how we can persevere and how a happily ever after is not unattainable its just not always perfect! I think this just might be my favorite story out of the Sphere of Irony series and although I was desperately awaiting its release I am also sad to see it come to an end. Can't wait to see where Heather C. Leigh takes us in her next book!

Wow what a great send off to a wonderful series.
Its the 4th and final book chronicaling the rise to fame of the band Sphere of Irony and this time its the story of Hawke the drummer. I think I always knew he was hiding a broken heart and that he was damaged but I had no idea how badly scared he was by his past.
He meets up with Abbie before the band is famous and we see both of them struggle to fight the demon’s of their childhood.
Heather C Leigh pulls out all the stops with this book, she has obviously saved the best till last. From the first page I was hooked on Hawke and my heart broke more for him with every page. I was crying not just for him but the fact one of the best rock star series’ I have ever read was coming to an end. The writing was wonderful and Heather nailed the subject matter even though it must have been hard at times not to get dragged in and make the book too maudlin, but even in the saddest part the chemistry between the band eased the tension and bought a much needed smile to my face and it was nice that they featured rather prominently and we got to wrap up the entire series.
I seriously can’t wait to see what the author comes up with next but in the meantime I’m off to have a look at the series before that I somehow managed to miss.

Tragedy, pain, blame, destruction, recklessness. Is it possible to move past these things? Or will they control every aspect of your life? This is the challenge that Hawke and Abby struggle with for years.

Abby is instantly attracted to the bad boy rocker the moment that she lays eyes on him. Only she has every reason to believe that her feelings are unrequited. After seeing Hawke with a slew of women she decides that it's time to move on. But Hawke has no intention of letting another man move in on his territory.

Hawke catches feelings for the bombshell that happens to be the best friend to one of his closest friends. She is beautiful, sweet, and perfect. Everything that he is not. The only thing that he is sure of is that he is not good enough for her.

"The Desire to walk over there, grab her in my arms, and suck on that spot until I leave a mark claiming her as mine, is nearly impossible to ignore."

His need for her grows tighter and tighter until his resolve snaps. He shocks her when he makes his feelings for her known. They spend and hot night exploring each others bodies. Little do they know that this is the start of seven painfully turbulent years.

Hawke can't get passed the guilt of losing his family in an accident that leaves him scarred on the inside and outside. He deals with the pain and guilt the only way that he knows how. By hurting himself and living on the edge. The only time he really feels alive is when he is risking his life.

Abby has the need to fix everyone in her life. Her past is dark just like Hawks, and she is dealing with her own demons. She wants to save Hawke but the last thing that he wants is to be saved.

For years they struggle with codependency, with fighting their demons, with being in love with another soul that is just as broken as their own. As they grow and mature, life causes them to face and embrace hard decisions.

Will they remain on their destructive paths or will they get the help that they need?

"... I can't fix you, Hawke. I can't keep trying. I'll never succeed and it's killing me to watch you destroy yourself."

This book deals with serious issues including PTSD and Bipolar Disorder. The characters really have to work on themselves before they achieve their happily ever after. I felt their struggle as they fought to hold on to each other and deal with their demons at the same time.

Heather C. Leigh did an awesome job of mixing fun, playful and ridiculously hot moments into the story

"The wide grin slowly melts off his face. His gaze goes from playful to intense, holding me captive... Hawke parts his lips, his breath hitching as he speaks. 'I missed you.'"

I was dragged through a rocky emotional roller coaster. Sometimes I was in love with the characters (especially Hawke), sometimes I hated them. At times I wanted to hug them and tell them that everything would be okay and at others I wanted to shake them and demand that they pull themselves together.

*4 Wrecked Stars!"

Congratulations Heather C. Leigh! You have outdone yourself and delivered another outstanding book that showcases your writing talent. I was anxious to read the final book in The Sphere of Irony series. Each book has been fantastic and the characters have come to life off the pages. Throughout the series Hawke has been a bit of mystery and I couldn't wait for his story. Hawke has been the silent one that remains in the background while proving his loyalty, wisdom, and strength to his fellow band members. What the readers have learned is that he is an adrenaline junkie. He has a history that leads us to believe there is a touch of mental illness or has had a complete breakdown of some kind. Wreck is Hawke Evans story and we are finally going to meet the man behind the kit. The mysterious man that has kept the rhythm for The Sphere of Irony.

Hawke Evans is a complicated, multi layered character. He's experienced pain in his past and has survived it the only way he knew how. Through it all he has managed to rely on his humor, his inner strength, and his need for a rush to neutralize his pain. The revelations about his past and his mental illness will rip your heart into shreds.

Hawke has many ghost lurking in his past. One of those ghost is Abby Kessler. Hawke has known Abby for seven years. Their history is bittersweet and painful. Abby also deals with her own ghosts. Her way of exercising her past is to fix everything. She has a compulsion to fix people, fix their problems, and ends up taking them onto herself.

Together they are co-dependent on one another. They enable each other. Their relationship would be considered unhealthy. The kicker is that it works for them. They will have to overcome their personal demons, their unhealthy fixes, and find a way to have a whole, healthy, loving relationship that will make them both better people.

Heather took some serious mental health issues and handled them with great care. She gave the characters a beautiful lightness to their darkness. She added quirky humor and a unique playfulness that made Hawke and Abby outshine their disorders. In the end Heather allowed them to find their perfect happily ever after and away to own their personal demons.

Wreck was a beautiful emotional rollercoaster that defines the true definition of love.

Well done Heather C. Leigh. I have loved the Sphere of Irony Series. Hawke has become my favorite member.

Be prepared for a rocky ride full of extreme feelings all over every end of the spectrum. This series may center around a rock band, but it's really about family. Not blood family, but the family that we choose and they choose us. They love and support one another through even the roughest times, and especially when the loved one doesn't want or deserve their care. Hawke is like that in this book. He hates himself so much that he couldn't care less whether he lives or dies. He believes he causes pain in everyone he's around and he only wishes he could inflict that pain onto himself instead, which leads to dangerous self destructive behaviors.

The reasons for these feelings will be revealed in this story that spans over several years. I don't know exactly how long, but I'm guessing almost a ten year period. That's a long time to continue suffering; for Hawke, his family who loves him, and the girl (Abbey) who loves him so much she wants to fix him and take his pain away.

It takes Abby many years to finally realize that the only person who can fix Hawke, is Hawke. She can't be her best for him when she has her own past that she hasn't opened up about or dealt with either. They love each other fiercely, but they only end up hurting one another because she can't stop trying to make him better and he can't stop feeling unworthy. The most painful, but best decision Abby ever made was to remove herself from his life for good, not even attempting to be friends. That might be the only thing to cause both of them to hit rock bottom and search out the help they need. If they can learn to be healthy individuals, only then can they consider being in a healthy relationship.

As painful as this was to read, it was completely worth it for the tears of joy at the end. I realize I've left out specifics of their story but I want to you to experience them just like the characters did in the book, not any sooner. Your heart will hurt, but will be mended again if you just hang in there until the end!

Wrecked, completely totally wrecked. I hope there is be a come back tour, 'cause I am not ready to say good bye to Sphere of Irony. Loved all of the books but Wreck ( book 4) tore at my heart. Tragedy in Hawke's life left him lost and full of guilt. At age 18 he walked away from help taking it upon himself to fight his demons. Hawke, adrenaline junkie, forces away the creepy crawlies by risking his life, slowly committing suicide, slowly destroying everything.
Kate, Dax's girlfriend, brings Abby to see the band before they were famous. Chemistry is a wonderful thing, just not between two people with emotional baggage. Their on again, off again romance shows just how screwed up they are, especially Hawke. The author has such a way with words. I was reading trash magazines and tabloids, getting the inside scoop. I can't remember reading about a more self-centered character then Hawke. If Abby pushed him, he ran. If she questioned him, he ran. When she couldn't take it anymore she walked away. Time would pass and they would get back together only to call it quits again. They finally settle on being friends.
It would be so easy to hate him--Take Abby to VMAs then screw an actress for three days straight, leaving Abby to deal with the Paparazzi. That one poor decision could have ended everything.. Empathy had me wanting to hug him close instead of slapping him silly. Instead of dealing he ignores as usual.
Tragedy caused their mental health issues. Tragedy finally forces them each to get help. Abby listens to her mother, and goes to a resort. Hawke is threatened by Mitch after one of more stupid adventures. Everyone giving up opens his eyes. He seeks help. Hawke's apology to Abby will forever be a favorite swoon moment. The strength it took, just WOW!!!!!!!

“The wide grin slowly melts off his face. His gaze goes from playful to intense, holding me captive in the enclosed space of the SUV. Hawke parts his lips, his breath hitching as he speaks. ‘I missed you.’”

5 stars!! Hawke is so amazingly hot, and well him being a drummer in the band, doesn’t hurt him either!! Great writing and the book was so much fun to read!

I love a good rock romance and this book hit all the right spots!! Hawke Evans is the quiet drummer with a bad boy edge to him. Abby doesn’t know what hits her when she meets Hawke. But will his bad boy reckless behavior ruin any chance of them ever being together?? This story is so hot and so fun, you can’t help but fall for the characters as you read. I loved this book so much!!!

What happens when two people with tragic pasts meet and fall in love? Can their love survive the secrets they hide? Wreck is a prime example of loss, love and working through inner demons to come out on top and I really enjoyed the journey.

"If I can find my way out of the darkness, maybe he can too."

Abby and Hawke meet early in their adult lives. Abby is a college student working to become a child psychologist, Hawke is hoping to launch his bands career as the drummer of Sphere of Irony. They meet through mutual friends and hit it off almost instantly.

Hawke's inner struggle is at the forefront of their relationship. He refuses to open up and it results in the early demise of their love. What he doesn't know is that Abby has her own secrets she's struggling with and doesn't let her cards show.

"I feel better when I’m with Abby— the demons inside don’t shout as loud."

After years of trying to heal separately, they find each other again and try to work through their trials to get to their goal of completely sharing their lives with each other.

Wreck is the fourth book in Heather C. Leigh's Rock Star series and can be read by itself. I read the book previous but not the first two. With that being said, I did enjoy it. Hawke royally pissed me off many times, but thinking of his past and how he's trying to deal with his issues, you kind of understand his moods and fits of acting out. I'm definitely going to read more from Heather. Her writing is on point, the steamy scenes are hot and there's no lack in story. Wreck was a great one to add to the collection.

ERIN'S REVIEW
4 STARS

I have loved each book in this series and this one is no different. I love Hawke and Abby! These two characters are so similar and have each been through the emotional wringer. They both have lost those close to them and each one is holding on to their pain and guilt. Of course, they both deal with their situation in different ways. Both have a very emotional journey to make to find their own peace before they can even think about a relationship with each other. Their road is rocky and rough, but they both have to learn to let others in and let them help. Their chemistry is off the charts. Their connection is immediate. However, their HEA is a long road to travel. I loved the description and detail poured into this story. The author had me very emotional throughout the story. There are a few parts where you know a train wreck is about to happen, but you can’t turn your eyes away. You find that you are that rubbernecker that has to watch the collision. That was me. I couldn’t put it down. I had to see the wreckage and I am so glad I did. I wish there were more members in this band so that I had another book to look forward to. I will be looking for this author’s next release!

An ARC was provided for an honest review!

5 stars!

WOW!! I don't think I've ever read a rock star romance that was this good! It might just be my all time favorite in that category, and I'm being honest here when I say this, I've read a lot of them and this is the only one that's made me shed a few tears.

Abby and Hawke used to date and were inseparable and so in love but things happened, they broke up and 7 years later they meet again. This story is about them getting their well deserved HEA and finding light at the end of the tunnel.

I loved the writing. It was just perfect. I loved knowing about how they got together, their struggles, their joy and love. This story has a whole lot of reality in it and it was amazing to read about it because I know people who have went through what some characters go through in the story so it was nice to see that no one's alone.

That if you need help, it's just around the corner.

I will definitely be going back to read the rest of the books in the series. I applaud Heather in writing such beautiful words.

When two damaged people come together without dealing with their own pasts, you have a car wreck of a relationship waiting to happen.

Both Abby and Hawke have lost loved ones and struggling to come to terms with their losses. Abby deals with it by trying to help other people with their struggles, while Hawke deals with it by running away, self-harming and being an adrenaline junkie. Neither have opened up to anyone about their past and it is slowly destroying them. Their tendencies make for a volatile relationship together and could result in the destruction of the other.

It did take me a little while to like Abby as she came across as clingy and almost desperate when she meets Hawke for the first time. But as you get to know her you realise her behaviour is as a result of her past and you can empathise with her. Hawke is damaged and his behaviour reckless which can be frustrating but as you come to understand him it becomes impossible not to find a place for him in your heart.

This was a well written, emotional and powerful read. It was one that I loved and could not put down.

Falling from grace is hard to do, even if you really haven't but you have in you own mind and heart. What am I talking about? Guilt, it can be debilitating and survivor guilt is the worst. You think of all the reasons to blame yourself and become self destructive to quell those feelings. Combine that with PTSD and you have a person that is a walking time bomb of adrenaline waiting to find that rush that will give them the results they think they deserve.
Let me introduce you to Abby and Hawke. Each suffering from one of the conditions I mentioned and both sharing a connection that will span years. A love that will keep them connected and in pain over how they hurt one another. But the love it still there in the heart of their tumultuous relationship.
Hawke and Abby are perfect for each other and they both know it so that isn't the issue. They both have to learn to love themselves first to be able to give the other everything they crave and deserve... Happiness.
The Drummer of Sphere of Irony with the beautiful eyes, will capture your heart more than the other guys in the band!

I highly enjoyed this book about these two wrecked souls trying to find their footing in a world that was changed by tragedy in the blink of an eye.
It was well written and I could easily follow the reactions of Hawke and Abbey and understand them too.
I also really appreciated the fact that this book is written in duel pov because it does allow the reader to understand both sides better, even when it is heartbreaking to experience struggles time two, when you really just want these two characters to heal and find their way into each others future and arms.

However, at times I did wish it had been a little faster paced because though I understand mental health does not come from day to day I still sometimes wanted to smack Hawke on the head and yell "DEAL for fucks sake.. Get some help!" Even though he is hot as sin :P

All in all: Well done <3

Wreck.. you see a title like that and wonder what the heck the author is going to write about. Once I started reading, I knew...I knew that life was hard for both Hawke and Abby, and they were both running from demons.

Theirs is an emotional story, and if it doesn't tug the heartstrings of anyone reading, then the reader doesn't have a heart. It was a little difficult for me to read at times, because I see some situations faced on a daily basis, that are very similar to what our characters are going through. This story tugs on your heart, and puts you on a roller-coaster ride that takes you do the depths of human emotions and back again. In a word, some of the content is heavy. But it's oh, so worth the ride.

With all that said, this installment of the Sphere of Irony series is dramatic, sexy, heart breaking and full of hope.

I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Where do I begin? This was a very emotional read, both characters suffered from horrible accidents in their past. Both Hawke and Abby struggled with the feelings of guilt and neither one knew how to move past these feelings. This was a well written book and I just loved the characters. I read this in one sitting, I just couldn't put it down. I would definitely recommend this one.

My first encounter with this series and I liked it!

This story gets into the inner turmoil both Abby and Hawke have to struggle with throughout their relationship. I liked how this love story progressed (several years) with growth from both characters.

Loved how each character is spotlighted in this group of friends as well as the two main ones. Makes me want to read the rest of the series.

You can only change yourself!

This book has to be my favorite in the series, just due to the messaging. We can only be responsible for our own personal growth. We can not control the actions of another person. So many times throughout this book I wanted to yell at Hawke, he was so tortured, brokem, and hurt. The rest of the books never covered how hurt he was and I do believe it was worth the wait. Abby was also very broken, but she was strong. I thought it was beautiful that she chose herself. These were some truly resilient people Idk if realistically these women would be waiting around that long. Needless to say loved the story.

I have enjoyed the Sphere of Irony series from Heather C. Leigh, and I was really looking forward to Hawke's book Wreck. After getting to know him better in Gavin's story Resist, I just knew that there was so much to Gavin's troubled best friend Hawke. This book can be read as a standalone story as the rest of this series, but I would definitely recommend reading at least Resist if you can. Hawke and Gavin are so close that I think it really helps to have some insight into his character if you have already read Resist, but it isn't necessary to understand this book. While I absolutely loved Resist, I have to say that I was a little disappointed with Wreck.

After life changing tragedies, both Hawke Evans and Abby Kessler both try to find a way to move forward with their lives. While Hawke turns into an adrenaline junkie and covers his body with tattoos, Abby sets out to fix as many troubled people as she can, including those around her. So when Abby and Hawke meet, the attraction is instant and they recognize the pain that each of them has never dealt with. But Hawke isn't ready to be fixed and Abby can't help but keep trying. As Hawke's behavior becomes more reckless, Abby must decide if she can continue to try and help him or if it is better for her to move on?

I liked both Abby and Hawke, and I really liked them together. Hawke and Abby had both experienced a lot of pain and loss, and they each had guilt that they allowed to eat at them rather than dealing with it. Though they didn't open up to each other like they should have, it was clear that they had a great connection and that they cared about one another. They had a ton of chemistry and you could tell just how much each of them felt for one another. That being said though, I really did not like how things went between these two. These two were apart for the majority of this book, and I hated the fact that Hawke was with other girls throughout this story. He never cheated on Abby as they weren't together, but he did hook up with several other girls in this book and it bothered me that it continued to happen up until the very end of this story.

By the time these two finally started to get together, the book was almost over and it came off as super rushed. I kept waiting for these two to figure things out and it just kept not happening. There was so much back and forth, with these two trying to be together or friends only to have them do something to walk away from one another. It got old and it really made this book drag at times. I also didn't care for the huge jumps in time that kept happening throughout this book. It really gave this book a disjointed feel, and just as I was getting into it things would jump ahead. As much as I loved Hawke and Abby when they were together, that was just so few and far between for me here that I never really felt invested in them like I should have. Despite their backstories and how emotional this book should have been, I just wasn't feeling it. I really think that so much time was wasted for these two on not being together and running away that I just wasn't ever able to fully connect. I would have liked these two to have figured things out a bit sooner and to have seen them leaning on one another as they began and went through the healing process. As much as I wanted to love this book, I just wasn't able to and I felt like what could have been so good just didn't deliver here. For me the best book in this series was Gavin's and I really thought that I was going to love Hawke's more. I still think that this series was really good and if you like sexy rockstars, you should give these a shot. I know I will read more from Heather C. Leigh in the future, but this wasn't my favorite of hers or of the Sphere of Irony series.
