Shocked by an act of bravery, and intrigued by a stranger's good looks and demanding demeanor, Emily Stewart agrees to let a man walk her to her car. She had no idea at the time that this was exactly what Jackson Shephard had hoped for.

Jackson "Big Jack" Shephard rides with the Hell's Fury MC. He's big, not afraid of any man, and goes to great lengths to provide protection to his club brothers and those he loves. He lives by a code most men couldn't begin to understand. He's faithful in life and love, and he never breaks a promise.

Emily "Em" Stewart knows Jack is inherently different in all regards. Em has never had a man provide her with enough excitement, praise, or variety to keep her attention for long.

As a result, she's never had a relationship. Until that night when a muscular tattooed biker steps in to her life and 'takes care of' the abuser.

Jack can only be with one type of woman; the type who lets him call the shots in the bedroom. Emily agrees to an exclusive relationship, because her heart and being know no other way and because Jack isn't one to cheat, lie, or do anything but love completely and love HARD.

There's one BIG problem. An undercover ATF agent.

Will this shatter what they've built, will the walls crumble, and will Jack go to prison?

If he does will their bond survive?

EX-CON is a stand-alone, no cheating, no sex outside the relationship, HEA story of love, loss, second chances, and living life outside of the boundaries most citizens live in. EX-CON depicts life of in Outlaw Motorcycle Club and life in prison with accuracy. It is Book V in the Selected Sinners series of MC Erotic Romance novels, and is able to be enjoyed fully as a stand-alone. This series of MC Romance novels has no club whores, no cheating, and no typical MC Romance drama. To experience the series in full, Making the Cut, Taking the Heat, Otis, Hung, and EX-CON may, however, all be read (in that order).

★4.5 I need more EX-CON STARS!★

"All we needed was a second chance."

description

EX-Con is the fifth book in the Selected Sinners MC Series. Although the characters are intertwined throughout the series, each book can be read and devoured as a stand alone. This was my first Scott Hildreth read and I assure you it will not be my last!

description

In the opening scene of EX-Con, we are introduced to a vibrant young woman named Emily. After a night of partying, she finds herself in a precarious state with a "handsy" frat boy. Lucky for Ms. Em, Jackson (a member of the Hell's Fury MC) quickly comes to her aid.

"My savior was tall, extremely muscular, and what portions of his body weren't covered by the seemingly microscopic leather vest he was wearing were decorated with tattoos."-Em

description

Emily and Jackson have an instant attraction to one another and yet, it is the emotional connection that is made that draws Jackson to Emily like a moth to a flame.

"Okay, Jackson the biker, you've got my attention, now what?"-Em

Although Emily is anxious to jump into bed with the "honorable, tattooed, bad biker", Jackson is not into meaningless sex. If Emily and Jackson were to pursue a relationship it would be only if Emily is able to agree to Jackson's terms for sharing his bed. Additionally, Jackson makes it clear that it must be a mutual decision that they make together! Jackson is hesitant to invest in a relationship because he has already suffered the loss of two lovers.

"What if my future with anything or anyone is sealed from what I've done in the past."-Jackson

As Jackson and Emily's friendship blossoms, the sexual tension continues to increase. As trust is built between the two, a beautiful friendship is formed and the foundation of long lasting love is established. Once Em and Jackson enhance their emotional bond by adding the physical connection, the intensity increases as they both begin to feel deeply for one another. Although Emily is no virgin, Jackson's preferences in the bedroom are new and exciting for her. Em feels like a kid on Christmas morning every time they are together. (As the reader, you will too! Thank you for that Mr. Hildreth!)

description

"I realized I wasn't only being fucked by Jackson Shephard. I was deeply in love with him."-Em

Jackson and Emily share an intense bond that only grows stronger throughout the development of the story. At the exact moment you feel that the read is coasting to a HEA 40% too early, everything shifts. Jackson is torn from Em and it is questionable if they will ever find their way back together again.

"JACKSON XI-XXI-MMVI EMILY"

EX-Con is an expertly crafted story with complex characters, an intense plot, action, and explosive sex scenes. Each moment is depicted with precision in a way that the reader feels transported directly into the scene. Told in dual POV, EX-Con is so much more than a biker romance. This is truly the tale of a man overcoming betrayal, abandonment, and loss. This is the tale of a woman who finds trust and unconditional love in the arms of an "unconventional man". What is most remarkable about this read is the many layers that are explored within the characters. Because the story takes place over many years, we experience the longevity of the "sense of loss" and the tender moments of joy! The writing style of Mr. Hildreth is fluid and natural throughout. The dialogue is witty and heartfelt. The tempo is well paced and each element of the plot was well balanced as the action increases.

"Jackson wasn't a man I had simply fallen in love with, he had become a part of my inner being. No differently than my lungs, heart, kidneys, and liver were all needed to keep me alive, Jackson was now a necessary part of my existence. Without him, I was certain to wither and die."-Em

description

"He made me a promise that he'd eventually always come home. And Jackson Shephard never breaks a promise."-Em

description

"Yes, sir?"

Overall, EX-Con is so much more than the typical "biker banging romance novel". It is unique because of the well crafted blend of romance, passion, action, and everything in between. I found this read to be utterly delightful because of the two main characters Emily and Jackson. Both independent and strong characters alone and yet, together they are a powerhouse! Due to the extreme sexual desires of this hero, the tender romance between the two main characters, the well developed plot, and the driving action, I'd say there is something for everyone in this read! I simply cannot express the excitement I am feeling in regards to discovering a new author to explore. The playground is open for business and this girl is ready to play! Thankfully, Moneyshot is already locked and loaded on my kindle!

EX-CON was an absolute fucking pleasure. Hildreth's books typically have a female lead with "issues", or some type of problem in their life which prevent them from being perceived or depicted in the book as being 'typical'.

EX-CON was an exception. The hero as well as the heroine were 'normal' - well, as normal as a Dominant biker his love interest could be.

What a fast-paced refreshing look at life, love, and second chances.

A true must read book for anyone who likes erotic tales of love, this book delivers.

Jack "Big Jack" Shephard meets Emily "Em" Stewart in a bar one night, only to beat the absolute shit out of a stranger who is groping her against her wlll. She immediately feels 'something' for him (partially because of him saving her, and maybe a little more because she finds his squeezing her throat in a demonstration intriguing). He goes on to explain a few things: although he may look (and be) tough, a biker, and a dominant alpha, he doesn't fuck around sexually and he's quite a gentleman. He is single, cherishes the life he's lived in the past with women, and plans on one day proceeding to do the same, but he's in recovery from two deceased girlfriends he's had in the last 6 years. And he doesn't proceed with anyone who isn't able to completely 'let go' of all control in the bedroom.

So begins the attempt at relationship between them.

And it is heartwarming.

Holy fucking crap is it ever.

And, as the title suggests, there's more.

An undercover ATF agent infiltrates Jack's MC, and things go awry.

First impressions, second chances, love, true love, and everything in between.

It is covered here, it is covered well, and in the end the best HEA I think I have read in a decade.

The angst in between is edge of your seat stuff, and it never lets up. A fast-paced book of emotion, EX-CON is truly a must read book.

If there were ever a book that should have a "Must read" label, this is it.

Fiery hot, panty melting love scenes, the best relationship I've ever 'read', and finally, a Hero and heroine who are absolutely stunning together.

Toss your panties. Grab a seat, and prepare for one of this years best, and certainly Mr. Hildreth's best work ever.

I can always count on Scott Hildreth delivering a story that I love from the minute I start reading until the very end and the very last word. Ex-Con was no different and I was immediately swept into the Selected Sinner’s MC world and able to escape and watch Big Jack and Emily fall in love.

My thoughts: It's all about the cover baby. I saw the hot guy, the bird and said to myself. I NEED to read that. I am so glad I did. The author did not disappoint there was a reason for that cover and it depicted the whole plot line of the book in one gesture. Attention to detail like that is what makes books stand out to me. There are authors that write well, plot well and then there is authors that make an art out of their whole book. I have no idea if this book was a one off by him. I hope to fuck it isn't but this book to me was art. In a manly way of course.

Jackson is disciplined. He knows what he needs. Family (his club), dominance, and a woman that can give up control enough to be owned. He stands by what he believes and doesn't make excuses.

I expected Jackson Shephard was unlike any other man on this earth.

Emily is younger and little lost. She is a little cocky, a little smartass and knows that no man has been what she needed but doesn't exactly know why. Jackson makes her feel uneasy, shy and a little off kilter.

The first night they meet she wants him in her bed but Jackson has no time for anyone that is not who or what he knows he needs.

As I prepared to swallow my pride and become even more embarrassed by his ‘no’ response, I slumped my shoulders and waited.

“I don’t think that’s a good idea,” he responded.

So starts the abnormal courtship. To quote a friend Emily got interviewed. Emily had to prove to Jackson that she was what he needed and in return he proved that he was what she needed. Once he decided though. Wow the chemistry between these two characters. What woman doesn't want to read about a strong man who's entire focus is on his woman.

Normally I drop spoilers all over my long reviews but I am refraining in this one. Part of the reason I loved it was the journey that Jackson took to find his real and the journey Emily took to find her's in a whole different way but just as important. I will give one though for my safety girls

So thank you Scott Hildreth it was fucking amazing. Oh and kudo's for your disclaimer's love them!

I finished this book at 3:30am, I couldn't put it down. It's now 8am and I have thought about it since I finished. I tried to sleep but my sleep never came. I thought about this review, how can I do this book justice? How can I write my words so people will understand how much I loved this book? How important I think it is for people to read this and every book of Scott Hildreth's they can get their hands on? Then I realized, I won't. No review can ever ever ever do this or any other book by SH justice...I don't care how good it it.
So let me tell you what I got from this book, because with every SH book I ALWAYS get a message!
This book has taught me this: Never Give Up, Fight For What You Believe In.
This book is Jack's book, his story. We met him in the previous Selected Sinners books. I wanted Jack to have his own book so badly. I knew there was more to him. He intrigued me. I wanted to know where he came from and who he is. Jack is a very deep man, a thoughtful man, a man who takes care of his own. He's a man that if he loves you, he loves you with all that he is. He's a respectful man. A faithful man. What Jack isn't is a slut. I loved this about Jack. He is unlike your typical biker. He doesn't sleep around. If he finds you and you are right for him, he keeps you, loves you, takes care of you. This is exactly what he did with Emily. Emily is funny, fun loving and submissive. Even though Emily never knew she was a submissive, Jack made her see what she was missing in the world. He filled her life with more than just sex, he filled her life completely. Emily was the right girl for Jack. Jack doesn't just have sex with any biker slut. Sex to Jack is more, it's meaningful. But not everyone likes Jacks kind of sex. Not everyone is willing. Not everyone can handle Jack's dominant way. But one touch from Jack and Emily was lost to him.
But with every great love comes trials and tribulations. This is where I learned my lesson. Fight for what you believe in. Jack as we know from the previous books in this series was wrongly accused of a crime. He ends up being sentenced to life in prison. Being the unselfish man that Jack is, he tells Emily to move on with her life and not wait for him because there is nothing to wait for. Emily struggles with this because to her, Jack is her other 1/2.
This book is old school Scott Hildreth. It's got sex, but it's so much more that that.....it's got meaning! This writing style is why I fell in love with this author's writing to begin with all those many books ago! I wanted this and wished for this during the last few books. I waited, because I knew he would come back...and I knew it would be worth the wait! Let me tell you, THIS is the best Hildreth book I have ever read. Now that is really saying something because this author has had MANY brilliant books in the past...but this one...it's....different. Anyone that is a fan of Scott Hildreth's will see the difference right away. He claimed this to be his best work yet and let me just say, that man speaks the truth. I can tell that his heart and soul was poured into this book while he was writing it. To say this book is spectacular is an understatement. The last chapter meant the world to me. This author will never know what this book means to me. The Devil Looks After His Own!
Thank you Mr. Hildreth for sharing Jack with me and all of the other readers that love what you do for us, what you give us every time you put your heart into a book. I appreciate you, your amazing mind and your thoughtful soul. No pressure, but I can't wait to see what's next!!!

3 stars - listened on audible (free from KU)

Soooo much better than the last couple of books. But....not much of a romance. At least to me.

There was so much repeated when we got to present day and I was so disappointed in the ending. This was all history, and I wanted today. And I got NONE of that! I would argue this is not even a HFN. Just a hope for one.

The backstory was good. But I felt little emotional connection. They were so imbalanced. It took her so long to get comfortable and not fear his rejection. I did not enjoy their sex life. But I enjoyed the other aspects of their relationship.

I also could not forget him talking about needing to fuck someone (anyone) after he got out of prison in Otis' book. It did not fit at all with what was in this book. But he said it and I remember it clearly.

His prison time was interesting for me to read and some of the best of the book.

Ex Con (Selected Sinners MC #5)

Jack & Em

A step up from the last two books I've read, though I didn’t enjoy much the first half of the story.. I like Jack and really felt bad for him.. 10 yrs of his life wasted, kinda reminded me of Ty from Lady Luck❤..

As for Em, I like how devoted she is. I love that she did not give up and still waited for Jack.. I wished that were more of Em at the present didnt like how abruptly this one ended.

Strangely enough I need to start this review with an apology, I made an unfair assessment of this book simply by the statement the cover made. Mr. Hildreth, I apologize for judging this book by its cover. I felt that the cover was not the Jack Shepard that I encountered in the previous books written by you. As always when it comes to your writing, you know exactly what you are doing; the cover is explained in the most meaningful way.
Ok, now to some of my thoughts on this book…
I finished this book yesterday afternoon, and I still truly do not know what to say, but I will start off with the fact that everything in my world happens for a reason and it never really has anything to do with me. Ex-con by Scott Hildreth and what I walked away with from this book is one more example of that, which fills me with gratitude.
Ex-Con starts with an amazing dedication that truly warmed the heart of this reader, for second chances or turning points as I like to call them, are what I have been blessed with more than I deserve and will never be able to repay.
When it comes to books that I read, I have always had the ability to take what I wanted and to leave the rest. For this book, I can honestly say that I there was no ‘leave the rest’. I loved everything about this story and if I had one compliant it was that I did not want it to be over…
I was honestly panicking as the percent I have read number was going up…. I may have cursed the author a couple times proclaiming that he better not make this a cliffhanger. He did not and you will be amazed by the ending as much as I was.
I do not really have all time favorites, for I am constantly changing my mind and encountering new situations that I love but for today Jackson Shepard is my favorite Hildreth character. He would be someone I would want to be friends with, he is someone I would want to hang out at a coffee shop shooting the shit with, even watch a Hockey game with. In short I admired him. There so many places in this story that I wanted to *fist bump* Jackson because I shared his out look on how he chose to live his life. He was a survivor that walked through what was put in front of him and did it with honor and humility. The below quote stopped me cold, and I connect to the human side of Jackson.

An object of Jackson’s humility was the beautiful Emily Stewart. She was a perfect compliment to Jackson. LOL- to quote another awesome Hildreth character, Em was the ying to Jack’s yang. (thanks for the line Kenton) The below picture bonded me to this character,

I respected everything I read about Em, she handled each hardship that was placed in front of her, with beauty and grace. She had a spirit that was full of faith and a character that never gave up.

To sum up, Ex-Con, this book is why I am a fan of Scott Hildreth. I gravitate to things in my life that help me grow, that teach me something through a new set of eyes and this book was, for me, that in a nutshell. I have no idea if anything I walked away with was the author’s intent and frankly it does not matter, because as I have said before reading is a very personal thing and no two people read the same book. This book was wonderful beginning to end, I would recommend it to anyone, and do not make the mistake I did…. You can never judge a book by its cover. Thank you & Well Done Mr. Hildreth. That is it, that is all I got….

Ex-con was my first full length novel by Scott Hildreth and unfortunately, this one fell a little short for me. The heroine didn’t mesh with me and considering this is a romance, I usually make an effort to like both halves of the couple. Considering they have an extended separation, I was surprised by how abruptly the story ended. There wasn’t any time to appreciate or savor their reunion before the book ended.

Em was kind of a meek heroine. She didn't have a lot of action in the book. She seemed like more of a fixture in the story. She was there for Jackson and she was perfectly molded to the type of woman he wanted, the couple had virtually no conflict. She didn't really want anything in life except to keep Jackson. She's a woman who's entire existence was centered around a man. I prefer my heroines to have more fire, and to be more individualistic.

Each new day in my life was always better than the one which preceded it. Always.

This was definitely more Jackson's story. His life was centered around his devotion to his MC and the few old ladies he's had. He'll do anything for his brothers which is just another example of how fiercely he loves. Unfortunately Jackson winds up being the most devote brother and his MC leaves him in the lurch when he needs them most. Jackson gets a sore deal, he's singled out and becomes a victim of an imperfect justice system. Jackson goes through a lot that he shouldn't have had to endure however he's not totally blameless. I was a bit disappointed in his sense of self-preservation, he seemed wholly unconcerned with his own well-being.
Fear the act of no man...For the fury of hell is yours.

So many people loved this story and I was a bit bummed not to be joining the slew of ridiculously positive reviews. I’m sure this won’t put an end to me exploring more titles from Mr. Hildreth however I may try a different series next.

I can always count on Scott Hildreth delivering a story that I love from the minute I start reading until the very end and the very last word. Ex-Con was no different and I was immediately swept into the Selected Sinner’s MC world and able to escape and watch Big Jack and Emily fall in love.

We read in the previous book Hung about Jack being sentenced to life in prison for a beefed up charge by a dirty ATF guy. In Ex-Con, we experience Jack’s life prior to his time in jail and are shown what a fun, loving, protective and honest man he is. Watching he and Em fall in love was so sweet and their love for each other was powerful. The scenes we see during Jack’s time in jail reiterate the fact that he is a great guy, although he isn’t a man to sit back and be pushed around.

This was a story about love that is soul deep and never dies. It’s about making a family out of the people around you whether they are blood related or not. It’s full of fun characters that will have you laughing yet you know they will die for each and every person they love.

I cannot wait to see what’s up next in this series. As always, great job and wonderful story! Thanks for the bonus of a little Ripp, Shane and A-Train thrown in too. Love the Un-series boys as well.

What can I say about this author? I was a person who dose not read MC books. But being that I love Scott writing I went for it. Each book in this series is great and unlike anything you will read. That being said you when you read a series and you pick your favorite book out of that series. Well this book is it for me. The book went live today and the minute I started the book I did not put it down. This is Jack and Emily's story. This is a story about family blood and not blood related. Its a story about love heart break and lies and truth. It also a story about if true love can make it thru anything. It is a story about loss time and what happens to true love. I cant tell you how much I loved this book. This is the best book this author has ever written. You must read this series!

5 unforgettable amazing stars!

Scott Hildreth broke my heart throughout Jackson and Emily's story.
I can't tell you how much I loved reading every single word of Ex-Con and how much I adored Jackson and Emily as "normal" characters.
I laughed, I beamed, I shouted, I screamed and I cried, A LOT.
I also savored the appearances of Avery, Toad, Biscuit, Axton, Otis, A-Train, Shane and Ripp from previous books.

Scott Hildreth made me feel cherished as a reader and this very emotion is exactly why I love to read so much.

"There would never be another soul to challenge him, take his place, or fill the void he left when he was gone. God graced me with his presence."
"Because he made me a promise that he'd eventually always come home. And jackson Shepard never breaks a promise."

The author's promise in his review on Goodreads is 200% right.
His post on Facebook dated August 15th: "The difficulties of being me, life in prison, and writing Big Jack's book" is a true must read before.

Now, as a huge fan and a greedy reader, I can't wait to read A-Train's story, please?

Congratulations. Bravo. Bravissimo.

OH.MY.GAWD!
I have read all of Scott's books but this one I was totally in love! I was truly engrossed from beginning to end and able to relate with so many of Jackson's emotions. I also had many of my own. Yes I totally cried a few times. I fell in total love with Em. Just as she had stated "Odd as it might have seemed to a conventional woman, Jackson had somehow take ownership of a very large portion of my heart........And nothing else mattered. I love so many of Scott's book characters but "Big Jack" is Real and Raw and you just can't help but fall in total love with him! I don't want to give away any spoilers so I will just recommend that everyone READ THIS BOOK. Scott please continue Jack and Emily's story soon. The mafia can wait a little longer *wink. I give this book five speculator shiny stars and if allowed more I would give them.
Thank you once again Scott for another GREAT story!
your forever Bestie! :-)

This is one of those series that I just have to get to as soon as it comes out. All of these men in the Selected Sinners MC always seem to amaze me as to who they are, and the depths of their personalities. I was glad to finally get Killer's story about his life before and how he became a Selected Sinner. The only problem for me (and that's a good thing) was that it only left me needing and wanting more of Jackson and Emily's story. Looking forward to the next book!

When you think a MC romance story, you automatically think of it as being raw, gritty, living on the edge of danger as an outlaw, women and sex. What you don't think about is one of the best not only romance but love stories you'll read this year. Scott Hildreth's EX-CON delivers an exceptional story that breaks the mold, and will stay with you for a long time. EX-CON is the story of Jackson Shepard. A man who lives by his own set of rules and his word is worth more than gold. He is one of the most respectful, sincere and genuine characters you'll read. The more you read about Jack, the more you see he has the qualities that essentially makes him the ideal man. He just happens to be in an MC outlaw covered in tattoos.

As the story opens up, it isn't Jackson who we meet first, it's actually Emily Stewart, who I have to say that I absolutely loved as a character. She's a 21 year old out for a good time, but when a guy at the bar she's at won't take the hint and leave her alone, Jackson steps in. While you think this may be the typical rescuing the damsel in distress story, it is not. Jackson is being the standup man you'll continue to see in the story. Emily, knows how to take care of herself and isn't afraid to speak up. She's a strong woman. What you'll see is that Jackson gives Emily a feeling she never truly felt till she was in his presence.

There is definitely a magnetic pull that Emily and Jackson have. The respect Jackson shows Emily is those opening scenes is not something she sees from men and is more than intrigued by him. This is the thing you find out about Jackson throughout the story, he's not typical in how he approaches life. When she finds out he's a dominant she wants to know more and see if she has what it takes to be with Jackson. The relationship is truly one of my favorites of the year. The anticipation in the way it develops has you on the edge of your seat like Emily and has you falling in love too. On top of that it is incredibly sexy. If there were ever two characters who fit perfectly like two puzzle pieces, it is Jackson and Emily.

EX-CON is a book that is different from anything out there in the genre. It has it's fair share of twists and turns. While you may know the outcome of some parts from reading previous books in the series, Jackson's story has so much to it, it shouldn't be missed. The stoic character you get a few glimpses of in the other books, shines brightly in his own. Believe me, it's some story . What makes it an absolute standout has to do with the wonderfully written characters Jackson and Emily. You will feel everything these characters do. It is also the love, devotion, heartbreak, hope, second chances, and loyalty that Scott Hildreth perfectly writes about in EX-CON. It's all that combined that has no doubt made this the best book of the series but also on my list for one of the Best Books of 2015.

Don't miss out on this fantastic story that will leave wanting just one more page, because you won't be able to get enough of Jackson and Emily.

Afrodyt's review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

Ex-Con is the latest installment of the Selected Sinners series. If you've been following this series you know Big Jack's story is woven throughout the last three books. Most of this story does not take place in the Sinners' world so it has a completely different tone.

The first half of this book is the hot and sexy love story that I've come to expect from Scott Hildreth and this series. One of the things I love about Jackson is that from the start you can tell he's rock solid. A good man: brutally honest, pragmatic and formidable in every way, yet loving and appreciative toward Emily and life in general. Emily is young but strong willed and still in a phase where she's learning who she is and discovering her sexuality. I loved how these characters explored their chemistry and formed their bond. It's passionate and felt natural and is unique from what I've been reading lately. It read like how I imagine a true D/s relationship would play out in the real world, not some stylized fantasy.

It's tricky to read a novel knowing so many key elements to the story already. The more I witnessed Jackson and Emily falling deeply in love, the more anxious I became. Then when the story shifts to the grave injustice Jackson suffers, I feel what he and Emily feel. I mean ALL of it and it's visceral. Scott Hildreth masterfully crafts a descent into absolute hell and then brings me out the other side feeling a powerful sense of relief and justice being served.

I could not put this novel down. I had to see it through to the end and it simultaneously left me feeling complete and totally wanting more. This story has so much heart and it feels so real. Romance novels are a wonderful escape from the everyday routine and I love when they take me to places I've never imagined. In this case it was to maximum security federal prison, but nevertheless it was a worthwhile journey. Five enthusiastic stars!!

5 Crazy Ass Must Read Stars!!!!!

MY. FAVORITE. BOOK. OF. THE. YEAR!!!!! You have outdone yourself with this book, Scott! Big Jack & Em's story is my favorite of this series!

I will be adding more to this review soon. I just finished it and have to let it marinate for a bit.

Update:
I've stewed on it and even re-read it again yesterday. Loved it even more the second time around. Both times, I spent the whole second half of the book crying. My heart was shattered for Jack & Em. I do hope there is a second part to their story because I'd like to get more of her side during their time apart and follow up their reunion.

It's so hard for me to pick a favorite character from this series but I will say that Big Jack has a place on my faves list. Scott Hildreth writes some amazing characters and stories. He's holding strong at #1 on my favorite Male Author List and is inching his way up on my all time faves list.

This is an epitome of a Crazy Ass Must Read!

Wow! The books in this series get better and better! Jackson's book was no different!
He's a hot MC biker and stands up for what he believes in and will protect his own, his 'brothers' in his Club, his family and the woman he loves.
Jack is definitely not your typical biker, he doesn't sleep around and have any sort of commitment issues. He meets Emily and the chemistry is instant from the beginning for both of them!
Their story is full of HOT scenes, angst but very loving as well. Not even him being put in prison stops the love they have for each other and this is proved over and over again.
I love that Shane, Ripp and A-Train make an appearance too, they are great characters!
I think the ending to this was perfect and actually quite emotional. Scott has done it again, loved this book and it fully deserves the 5*!
Roll on the next one! lol

A love story like none other...

A love story like none other, but with all the finesse of an epic tale. Jack and Em's love goes beyond convention to the realms of a pure and simple soul connection women dream about. Despite the bumps in the road, their journey was breathtaking and beautiful. Promises are meant to be kept and respect is earned when given. I can't say enough about how utterly epic and enjoyable this story was.

You get all your favorites from the Sinners series along with the "UN" group, and you're gonna laugh, cry, and applaud throughout. From start to finish I couldn't put it down. A must read love story. #oneclick #thedevillooksafterhisown #selectedsinnerforlife

I wanted to like this more then I did. :( I just couldn't connect with either character, the BDSM seemed a bit forced, I didn't like the long separation, and it ended really abruptly in my opinion.

I've heard a lot of great things about this author though, so I'm sure I'll give him another go, maybe it was just this one that wasn't my cup of tea!

Nothing in life is absolute. Nothing. No one has a crystal ball and what we know to be certain today, will very well change tomorrow. All that we can hope for is to learn from the life we’ve lived and the mistakes we’ve made. If along the way, we gain some clarity as to what really did, or does matter, then we are better off from where we started.

If we can gain that lucidity and live life better? We’ve just succeeded.

There is a raw grace within the pages of Ex-Con. It’s a tale of a man wrongfully accused, everything ripped from his hands. EVERYTHING. Does he get angry? Yes. Does he learn to survive and thrive? Yes. Does he become bitter?

NO.

That herein is where the beauty lies. He made a choice. A choice to live, and essentially love above that. Big-Jack will hurt your heart, and yet he will mend your soul. The love story between him and “Em” will warm your core. They fell in love. The kind of love that most of us will never be fortunate enough to know, but all yearn for, and they held tight to it. Neither of them sure they would ever find it again.

Scott’s voice in this book has truly gone above and beyond. In true fashion, he’s wowed me. This book reaffirmed why I fell in love with his writing and him as an author. He’s presented us with two very solid yet vulnerable leads. His supporting cast is chocked full of characters that I want to know more about.

Normalcy is relative. Nothing in life is absolute.

Except sometimes love, sometimes love can and will exceed it all…all bonds and all expectations.

This is my first book by Scott that I have read and I must say that I truly enjoyed it. It was completely different than all the MC books I've read before and was really refreshing. I would gladly recommend this book to others and will definitely be reading his others in this series along with any new books by Scott. You really should one-click this book today!!

Typically MC books are full of violence, sex and partying and although there is a touch of violence it wasn't anywhere near what is typical. Jackson isn't one for sleeping with just random people and in fact is extremely selective. He is a quiet, loyal dominant who if he finds you are worth his time he will make you feel as if you are the most important thing in his life and in fact you'd be one of the few. He meets Em and he hesitantly starts a relationship with her even though he's nervous karma will take her away like the other 2 he had that died. Things are going so good but one day things in his life unexpectedly goes awry and he is separated from her for 8 1/2 years. During this time the MC that he swore to protect with his life abandon him but Em has faith and never gives up the hope that she will see him again one day. Is she right? Will Jackson come back the same or is he too different now?
