After a freak electrical storm sends her plane into the Clovis period, more than ten thousand years in the past, Janet Delgrange must fight to survive, encountering strange wildlife and people that look … primitive.
She meets Gundre, an alpha-hunter, and then Marro, chief of a large tribe that resides at the base of an active volcano. Both men will take what they want, and she will submit, falling in love, but can she survive living ten thousand years in the past?

I have yet to settle on a rating. 1, 1.5, 2....barely a 2
The story started interesting. I am fascinated with the past so as soon as I find a time travel story I go for it. So the story had 2 plot lines: one in the past where one heroine goes and the other in the present with the archeologist who found the relics in the cave.
Initially I enjoyed the story but when I moved to book no two I found myself challenged by the plot line, by the the third book I was almost DNF . Janet being "married" with Gundre, eventually, in fact, very fast became attracted and attracted the chief of the new tribe, Marro. It pushed the boundaries of my modern day mentality to the limit.
I powered though and soon the story seemed to move in the direction of one man. Disaster strikes and Janet is back to Gundre, away from the dead tribe and Marro. I can put all this on creative license but when Gundre died it because obvious that there was a space created for Marro in the future. Survival of the fittest theory put to test. Eventually the plot thickens with the people from the future and they all find their happy ever after. Sort off, kind off when you ignore the creative license on the foursomes and all the rest and I gotta ask: why sharing when Marro was so possessive? That was not punishment and the only thing that it did, it made the story less enjoyable (for me) and it became plain cheap. sighs...another author to cheapen a very good idea.
As you might notice, I barely talked about the present plot and how the archeologist Amy and Janet's former fiancee, Brian come together and uncover what happened. I wanted the author to stop the dual timelines so I started skipping the chapters. The present plot-line would have worked in another book or not at all. Janet and Marro's adventures where more than enough for me. Even though the past and present collided, in my opinion it was not that necessary.
So, this story stretched my beliefs, limits, modern age ideas and eventually i conceded a "why not". So the low rating is only because of Janet, survivors and of course of the sexually disturbing plot. Janet was hurtful and dishonest with Marro in particular by hiding behind her "husband". In my "books" a woman or man need to own their choices. She was happy enough in Marro's arms but not brave enough to won it. When her husband died, well, she was all to happy to jump back in Marro's arms and say "i love you"; then the multiple partners; all survivors where all to happy to embrace the primitive way of life instead of bringing new ideas to the tribe. I like my characters strong, decisive and resourceful and none of the survivors was, well except for the doctor.
I am left with wanting more from the story but this is it. Why I finished it instead of DNF, I wanted to see how many cheap scenes will be added and how will end....In the end I can say: "I did it but I will stay away from this author or type of stories" since I have used up my 2018 tolerance for cheap plots and porn screenplays.
Caveman Omnibus Box set 1-3: Time travel By: Avery Kloss 5/5 stars
This time travel was different than quite a few of the ones that I’ve read. This takes modern men and women back to the Clovis period in North America around 10,000 years ago or so. It’s a freak airplane accident that after being caught up in an electrical storm, crash lands in the past.
Not knowing if there is any possible way to be saved, the modern people begin to assimilate to the time period, everyday life, culture and the language. They know that it is either adapt and survive or die. So they all do their part, including taking a mate.
But just because they left their lives behind in the future, doesn’t mean that they can’t leave clues about their fate since cave paintings were popular. We also do get to follow along with some of the people in the future and their archaeological discoveries and their lives.
I really did enjoy this book and wasn’t quite ready for it to end!
Interesting, unique premise. Appreciate the effort the author put into her research. Felt the times and lives were very realistic. Great cast of characters. My only dislike was the constant shuffling back and forth between current day and Clonic era. Would have preferred a switch once every few chapters and not every single other short chapter. The pace got better in book 3 when there was less modern era stuff to deal with.
I'm so happy this is one book. I happily read this series once and glad I did it again. Janet gets stuck in the past while Brian deals with a surprisingly interesting future without her. This is their story and it's filled with intrigue. Just as a FYI this story has violence and sex but it's really good.
Just about the time you think all will settle down, another life threatening event happens. I definitely enjoyed the Caveman series. It was a different look at time travel for me. The stories were very well written and the characters came to life with each chapter. Highly recommend.
I had low expectations to start given the cheesy cover art but I like time travel romance. Book 1 was good and showed promise. Book 2 took a disappointing turn and characters started to get really annoying. Book 3 was plain awful.
I was surprised how much I liked the Omnibus Edition. It was not the usual "drag the woman at her hair into your cave" story. Caveman 1-3 has a depth that I didn`t expect. There is love, loss, despair, irony and acceptance. You`ll also get a good glimpse into the world of the Clovis period.
