Maddie Graves has psychic flashes and can talk to ghosts – only no one is supposed to know her secret. The only thing she can’t see is her own future.
After her mother’s death, she returns home to find her former best friend, Nick Winters, is really the only man she could ever love. Unfortunately, she’s never told him the truth about her abilities and he's not thrilled with her return.
Nick is conflicted. He’s loved Maddie his entire life, but he can’t forget the fact that she walked away from him – even if he’s desperate to forgive her.
Nick and Maddie keep finding trouble – and each other – and it seems they’re on a crash course for happily ever after.
This three-book compilation includes: Grave Homecoming, Grave Insight and Grave Delight.
I have been a fan of Amanda/Lily for a fair few years now and love everything that she has written. But I couldn't believe the drivvle that I just read.
Books 1 and 2 were OK, I enjoyed them a little but book 3, Grave Delight, was the biggest load of tosh I've had the misfortune to read.
I actually skipped 10 pages at a time because the author droned on and on about how much Maddie and Nick love each other, how beautiful each other are, how perfect they are etc.
Even when investigating a teenager's brutal murder they would still turn a serious comment into something sexual.
Not one person that they spoke to could pass on saying how perfect they are together, how cute, so made for each other. What a load of drivvle.
I know the author touts her work as paranormal romance/mystery but she goes so over the top with the romance that I felt like I needed a sick bucket next to me.
We know they're in love, that they plan on spending their whole life together but it doesn't need to be drilled into us on every page.
I'm going to read book 4 but if it doesn't improve then this series will be a huge no no for me.
Had high hopes for this series. Just looking for a simple, read quick read, but unfortunately I spent more time try to decipher the switches of scenes and characters, only to realize that it was just poor continuity. Secondary characters are way more interesting. Main couples affair is grating and over the top. Cute in the beginning, now it’s just word filler. Even the secondary characters call it out on a regular basis. Pretty bad when even your fictional characters are pointing out your flaws. Main character, Maddie is so stunted in the beginning and if the author is looking to strengthen her, she better hurry up and give her some backbone. Needs serious proofing, editing and consistency, some scenarios and conversations don’t make sense. Just blah. Read the first 3 books in the series, but will not be continuing.
If you want a cozy mystery with a side of romance this isn't it. The couple spends more time redundantly telling each other they've always been in love than investigating anything. The third book gave me hope though and miss Hart is a brilliant writer so I will continue reading and I gave 4 stars but Maddie and Nick are more interested in each other than anything and it gets boring fast. I suggest miss Hart's Ophelia Archer or Hannah Hickock books for real mystery and action with a romance that doesn't overpower. Now those have real sleuthing, powerful witches, and 3 dimensional characters.
I love Lily Harper Hart, but somethings in her many series of books are the same. Cop boy friends, no one EVER cooks except for gay friend, cranky old broads, "you're the strongest person I know", pizza and the women all looking beautiful without their make up. Saying that, there is only one female character I don't like or read because she does nothing but whine and I wouldn't miss others for love nor money. This is a good series and have enjoyed all 3 of these stories!
I'm Re-reading the series for the third time. That's how much I enjoy the stories and the characters. Ms. Hart writes like her name: with heart! Her characters are "real people with real emotions" and they make me wish I lived next door so we could be friends! I was rooting for Nick and Maddie from the first chapter. I highly recommend this series, (and author), to anyone who enjoys romance, and mystery with a little paranormal twist. Read them in order and get ready to fall in love!
Grave Beginnings is the first 3 books in Lily Harper Harts Maddie Graves series. Set in a small town where everybody knows everybody's business Maddie is the resident psychic and her boyfriend is of course the local policeman. The stories are well written and the mystery is totally intriguing. The cast includes a best friend, a dead mother and a devilish grandmother all who have Maddies best interest and happiness as their goals.
Decent book, quick easy read. But, it drives me nuts that neither Maddie nor Nick have an issue with him having slept with several women in an effort to get over her, to them it’s all her fault he did it because she left as a teen. Seriously, get over the guilt, she doesn’t need to feel guilty over his misbehavior while she was gone. That’s on him, a normal human would feel a bit of jealousy or hesitancy about potential sexually transmitted diseases from his years hoing around.

I think that of all the series that the author has done (under either pen name), this might be my least favorite. For sure, the heroine is my least favorite. I appreciate the issues the author has set up for her and the love interest to overcome, but overall...I find her a little...exasperating.
I've read all the books available in the series so far and although I applaud the character, Maddie, coming out of her shell and becoming "stronger", I also find the almost bipolar extremes of her personality annoying. She's too wishy washy and at times, just not believable.
The latest book in the series (Grave Haunting), was a disappointment. Despite my irritation with the MC, the stories have also begun to feel more and more like a soap opera where they are grasping and straws just to push a plot.
I'll still continue on with the next book in the series because I hope it'll get better, but this might be one of the author's series I may end up discontinuing.
Really enjoyed the narrator for this story. She was easy to listen to. Story was entertaining without being taxing. Predictable yes, but enjoyable. Will be reading/listening to more.
It's OK for what it is--but what it is, is more romance than mystery. It has exactly the characteristic that makes dislike romances: if the characters would just TALK HONESTLY to each other, full disclosure, the story would be over (at least the romance part of it).
Lily Harper Hart writes stories about relationships, love, and the paranormal. This series is great, because Maddie Graves is very talented in the paranormal sense and experienced in aiding law enforcement solve crimes.
I enjoyed the three books which made up the story of Maddie and Nick, two star crossed lovers. Maddie had left town, and her beloved Nick ten years previously, afraid that he would reject her if she revealed her secret. I liked following them through the books
I enjoyed this series. The characters were so cute as was their interaction. The mysteries were engaging. Romance was in abundance. I loved the small town setting.
I read all 15 books in this series before I wrote one review. The mysteries are awesome, a little more intense than the other two series by this author that I read. They were fast paced page turners that I could not put down.
I enjoyed this series. It was sweet and page turning and an easy read. I am looking forward to the next to come...Maddie Graves is a strong character that grows on you and you can't but help cheer for her.
I really liked the characters in these three books. The idea of childhood best friends finding their way back to each other while dealing with murderers and bullies makes for fun storytelling.
