AN AMISH CHRISTMAS GIFT is three novellas all written by very well known Amish genre authors.
Naomi's Gift by Amy Clipston introduces you to Naomi who is twenty four years old and still unmarried. She has given up on finding her true love and is content staying home and taking care of her younger siblings. That is until she meets Caleb. Caleb is a widower with a seven year old daughter and he has come home to be with family and friends and he is hoping the trip will help his daughter, Susie and himself from missing his wife Barbara. He doesn't think he is ready to move on but his meddling sister Sadie has other ideas and isn't afraid to speak her mind. Caleb is at his wits end with her interfering in his life and finally he gives her an earful to butt out of his life.
An Unexpected Joy by Ruth Reid really pulls at your heart. Abigail has a huge heart and is always doing for others. When she takes a new job taking care of Micah's Mammi she thinks she is just earning money so she can buy herself a horse, Cactus. What she doesn't plan on doing is finding herself a husband. The characters in this story were very real and believable and I found myself muttering to Abigail to just be quiet for five minutes so Micah could talk to her. Micah's grandmother was so cute, trying to push Abigail towards Micah but he was down right rude to her most of the time. I've never read anything by Ruth Reid but now I'm going to go back and find her other books! I'm so excited to find a new author who writes in this genre.
Rocky is the Englischer in A Christmas Visitor by Kelly Irvin . He has come to Texas from Missouri to visit his friend Frannie. Frannie is Amish and lives with her aunt and uncle as her parents sent her to live with them to get her away from Rocky. They sent her away because they know nothing good can come from a relationship with Rocky. He aunt Abigail keeps trying to interfere in Frannie's life but Frannie isn't having any of it. I found myself cheering loudly for Frannie and hoping she would make the right decisions. I didn't want her to leave her family and faith behind and I didn't want her to lose Rocky either.
If you are a fan of Amish fiction, second chances, and romances at Christmas you will love the three stories in AN AMISH CHRISTMAS GIFT. It will surely warm your soul and touch your heart no matter what time of year you read this wonderful Christmas themed collection of novellas.

I actually reviewed “Naomi’s Gift” last year for Christmas. ;) Let’s break down my thoughts on each novella: “Naomi’s Gift” by Amy Clipston is the best one, in my opinion. Still just as cute as the first time I read it. :) “An Unexpected Joy” by Ruth Reid was okay. While I liked Abigail’s heart for others, I did find her chatting very over the top. The falling in love seemed a little off….he was annoyed with her talking and then the next chapter he was in love with her…a little rushed to say the least. I’ve also never read an Amish book set in Michigan, so that was different. “A Christmas Visitor” by Kelly Irvin was the smallest and most rushed out of the three novellas in this collection. While I had to laugh at the Amish eating Tex-Mex food (being from Texas and all) and while I liked Rocky, I felt like I was jumping in the middle of their story. It was very rushed and I was not a fan of that very detailed kiss! :( So, I personally would just go out and buy a hardback copy of “Naomi’s Gift” by Amy Clipston by itself. ;)
*BFCG may (Read the review to see) recommend this book by this author. It does not mean I recommend all the books by this author. *I received this book for free from the publisher (Thomas Nelson) for this honest review.
If you are looking for Amish novel that is not only realistic but winter cozy and inspiring, you have found your book! Before I review each story, I am going take a moment and just tell my opinion of the book overall. I picked this book up at my local Ollie's store. It is seriously the best place for finding great Christian Fiction. I loved both Kelly Irvin's and Amy Clipston's short stories in An Amish Market. I also enjoy Ruth Reid's story in An Amish Miracle, and I just loved her story Her Christmas Pen Pal in An Amish Second Christmas. Needless to say, when I saw this book on sale, I could not pass the opportunity to take it home. I am so glad that I gave it the chance. It was heart warming, realistic, and relatable. (well as relatable as an Amish family can be)
The characters lives are anything but easy, and I loved watching them rise above their problems and come out better off. I have mentioned before that in the past I noticed a lot of Amish fiction that made them feel very bland and unrealistic. Here recently though, I have noticed a lot more of these type of stories that make them feel more human and closer to my heart. The stories were perfectly 'Christmasy' what you would expect from the title. And the cover of this book! I am loving the newer covers of these types especially this one. The book overall was a very solid and wonderful read. A word to the authors and creators...Keep putting recipes in the back of the book! They are the highlight of my reading time knowing I have a little recipe to try out later on is such a treat.
Naomi was a wonderful and sweet character. Definitely relatable for any woman young or old. As someone who has come out of a bad marriage, I found myself sympathizing with the young woman. It probably helps too that I am only a few years older than the main character. The chemistry between her and Caleb and his daughter was so sweet and gave me 'love at first sight' vibes. Definitely a cute little story that will have you all warm inside by the end.
The second story, An Unexpected Joy, was without a doubt my favorite of the three. I don't think that I have related to an Amish person as much in all my years of reading as I did with Abigail. If you want to know my personality and who I am, look at her character and you will have a good idea. Moving on with the story. The friction between her and Micah is just adorable and I found myself smiling throughout the book. Abigail is a talker and very forward, but also kind and at times innocent. I can relate 100% to feeling like you are bothering people with your endless chatter. So for me personally the story was very humorous. I really just wanted to step into the book and sit down with her and have a conversation. The Christmas setting feels like something pulled from a Hallmark movie. So grab your hot chocolate and settle in for a cozy afternoon of reading with this story.
Finally, A Christmas Visitor was a unique little tale. I flowed with the first two stories theme of gift giving. I still am not sure why I did not get lost in this story like I did the first two. Still, it was a sweet story and as I said very unique. It is rare that I read a story about non-Amish people debating or trying to join the Amish community. I loved that it took place in Texas and not the typical Ohio or PA. I love finding Amish fiction based in states that we don't hear much about. The determination of Rocky was heart warming, and Frannie's determination and loyalty to her faith and what she believed in was very inspiring. I have never been to Texas, but after reading this story, I would not mind a visit!
Overall thoughts - the Amy Clipston story was my favorite in the collection. Naomi and Caleb were so cute together. The Ruth Reid story was pretty good, but Micah went from finding Abigail annoying to being head over heels in love at the drop of a hat. The Kelly Irvin story I didn’t care for. It wasn’t very Christmassy, and I didn’t see much of a connection between the two characters.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
The first two stories were decent, the last one had me annoyed with Amish people in general, and I realized that I saw the same problems in the second story as well.
The more Amish stories I read, the more I think it seems that while religious, they are very against people who aren’t Amish. It causes me to lose some respect.
In the second story, one of their members left and joined the army, but when he came back he had PTSD and brain trauma. As such, he wasn’t the same as he was, and the community had basically excommunicated his family because he couldn’t follow their way of life.
In the third story, one of the main characters was an outsider who loved the other main character, and to be with her he was abandoning his entire previous life to be with her. Everyone was prejudiced against him, and it wasn’t until he was basically completely Amish that they accepted him.
And aside from all that there is the whole patriarchal bit with women should be subservient to men vibe that sits sour with me.
Anyway, the stories are fine, but I’m not sure if Amish stories are the right thing for me.
I only read the first two stories. I was especially interested in Amy Clipston's story because I just finished the Kauffman Amish Bakery series, and this story is a part of that world. The story by Ruth Reid appears to be a stand alone, and I enjoyed reading this piece from a new-to-me author. I didn't read the third story by Kelly Irvin because it's part of a series I haven't read yet, and I would rather wait until I read the series.
This was a sweet trilogy (except for the last story which I did not finish). The stories are as expected with the usual HEA and yes they are religious but not so that they put off anyone with a differing opinion. I love learning about the Amish in different states - but the third story which took place in Texas, just didn't ring true for me, plus (and this is why I didn't finish) I am not fond of Amish/Englicher stories.
As I shared with you in the book review for A Reluctant Bride by Kathleen Fuller, my mom LOVES Amish stories. She enjoys stories about the simplier times and the clear priorities of faith and family that define the Amish lifestyle. We decided that if any opportunities come up for book reviews on Amish books, she would gladly read them and help me out. Below is my mother, Gloria's review of the Amish Gift by Amy Clipston, Kelly Irvin and Ruth Reid:
This special novella is a collection of three sweet, holiday romances that are sure to delight and are perfect for getting us in the mood for Christmas. I'll share about each book separately:
Naomi’s Gift by Amy Clipston
This story takes place in Bird-In-Hand, Pennsylvania where Naomi had faced two different recent heartbreaks. Thinking that she isn’t meant to find love, Naomi had given up on children and marriage. As Christmas was soon arriving, Naomi believed that her old-maid life will be spent helping the family's quilting business and taking care of her siblings during this special time of family, faith, and hope. Through a chance meeting with Susie Schmucker, Naomi met Caleb, a widower with a 7-year old daughter, and she might receive more than she ever hoped for this Christmas. Could this be Naomi’s "Christmas Miracle"? (No spoilers here.)
An Unexpected Joy by Ruth Reid
Talkative Abigail Kemp (aka Gabby Abby) was sure she would be an old maid and was saving money to buy a horse so she can have happiness in her life and gain some independence. Abigail's “gift of gab” has driven most of the men in the district who were future prospects away from Abigail.
Abigail led by example of sharing her money, food, clothing, showing kindness, and her belief that God loves everyone no matter their circumstances.
Micah Zook needed a caretaker for his grandmother and Gabby Abby needed a new job because the store would no longer sell her baked goods. Micah and Gabby Abby seemed to be butting heads right from the beginning, but Micah’s mother liked Abigail and found ways to put them together. In this story, the author had readers wondering if Micah could get past Abby’s "gift of gab" and see her for who she really was. (Again, no spoilers.)
As an aside, this was my favorite of the three stories contained in this book. This is a well told story about Amish love and their traditions of celebrating Christmas Day at home by reading the birth of Jesus from the Bible, sharing a special meal, and exchanging small gifts mostly handmade and heartfelt. On “Second Christmas," which is December 26th, the Amish travel and spend the day visiting family and friends.
A Christmas Visitor by Kelly Irvin
Fannie Mast's parents sent her to Bee County, Texas to live with her aunt, Abigail, and her new husband, Mordecai, in an attempt to get her away from an English man’s influence. A visitor from her past, Richard “Rocky” Sanders, shows up one night unexpectedly having followed Fannie all the way from Missouri.
Fannie and Rocky are in love. He was not part of the Amish community, but Rocky intended to be part of Fannie’s life despite being "English”. Rocky then decided that he loved Fannie and would do anything to show his commitment to Fannie - even giving up the convenience of being "English". In this story, the author had readers wondering if Rocky could prove himself Bishop and Uncle Mordecai and the Amish community and show them he had changed? (You got it, no spoiler here.)
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publishers and Fiction Guild in exchange for this post as part of the Fiction Guild Amish Team Challenge, which is my honest review and unbiased opinion.
Naomi has begun to believe that she isn’t meant to find love, but she might receive more than she has ever hoped for this Christmas.
Twenty-four-year-old Naomi King has all but given up on marriage and children. As Christmas approaches, Naomi is certain that her life will be spent as an old maid, helping with the family’s quilting business and taking care of her eight siblings. Then she meets Caleb, a young widower with a 7-year-old daughter, and her world is once again turned upside-down.
My thoughts: This was a cute story. Amy Clipston isn't one of my favorite writers, but I enjoyed getting to know Naomi and Caleb. I didn't like his sister, Sadie, much, or the way the Kauffman family as a whole treats outsiders, especially since they are a "big" Amish family in Ms. Clipston's series. I give this story 4 stars.
An Unexpected Joy by Ruth Reid
Abigail has driven other suitors away, but can Micah find a way to show her he cares?
Being a caregiver for Micah Zook’s grandmother is the answer to Abigail’s prayers. In fact, the elderly lady keeps finding ways to set Abigail up with her grandson. Despite Abigail’s constant chatter, Micah realizes he’s beginning to care for her—until he makes a decision that leaves her feeling betrayed. With Christmas in their midst, can Micah find a way to reconcile with Abigail and to reveal the true feelings of his heart?
My thoughts: Ms. Reid is my daughter's favorite Amish author, and with good reason. Her characters are real, reaching into the reader's heart and emerging with the heartstrings tied up in knots. I enjoyed getting to know Micah and Abigail, and loved Micah's occupation. A first for this Amish reader. I also loved Abigail's relationship with Micah's grandmother. Great story. 5 stars.
A Christmas Visitor by Kelly Irvin
Frannie Mast returns to Bee County for Christmas, but her heart stays back in Missouri with an Englisch farm boy.
Frannie knows her parents have the best of intentions when they send her back to Bee County, Texas, to live with her aunt and her aunt’s new husband Mordecai. After all, Frannie knows nothing can come of a relationship with Rocky, the handsome Englisch farm boy back in Missouri. But all bets are off when Rocky follows Frannie to Texas to plead his case. Could he be the Christmas gift to end all gifts?
My thoughts: I haven't read many books by Ms. Irvin, but I do have The Beekeeper's Son and The Bishop's Son in my to-be-read pile. i assume that part of this story was introduced in The Beekeeper's Son. I'm anxious to get into that book and read it. I enjoyed getting to know Rocky and Frannie and their struggles. This is a different sort of Amish romance, but it was good. 4.5 stars.
If you’ve read Amy’s books, you’ve met Naomi…who has done everything to try to gain a boyfriend (or husband) but it never works out… finally she stops trying altogether! And then she meets Caleb. I like Naomi so much in Naomi’s Gift… and when Caleb and Susie begin to care for her, I cheered!
If you’re like me, you expect this story to have a happy ending – after all, it’s about Christmas! I won’t spoil it for you, but there are a few twists and turns!
An Unexpected Joy by Ruth Reid
WOW! I picked up this story and COULD NOT put it down! Abby and Micah continually rub each other the wrong way. I loved it!
Abigail is certain she’s not destined for love or marriage. She has an idea that she can gain some independence at least and make some sort of happiness for herself with her own horse.
Like every other guy in the district, Micah has no patience for Abigail’s endless babbling… I could say more, but I just can’t spoil it for you! Just trust me. Read it!
A Christmas Visitor by Kelly Irvin
Frannie Mast returns to Bee County for Christmas – with some tough decisions ahead of her. And like most Amish stories, her well-meaning, but interfering family do everything they can make sure Frannie makes the right choices – the right decisions (well, what they consider the right decisions).
I’d rather be reading about a cold, snowy Christmas, but this story takes place in the blazing heat of Texas… Frannie would rather be in Missouri, until she gets a visitor…
Now you know I can’t say anymore, but read it… you’re gonna love it!
An Amish Christmas Gift offers another delightful collection of Amish-focused novellas (similar to An Amish Second Christmas and An Amish Cradle) just in time for the upcoming Christmas season. With contributions from Amish fiction writers Amy Clipston, Ruth Reid and Kelly Irvin, this collection tells sweet, romantic stories with the uniting aspect of Christmastime gift-giving. Each story is unique and heartwarming, filled with the warm, comforting feelings of Christmas cheer, and I thoroughly enjoyed each one. I would recommend it, for fans of Amish fiction are sure to enjoy this seasonal novella collection just as much during this Christmas season. It’s great for an entertaining afternoon or weekend read.

My thoughts: I was looking for Christmas books and stumbled upon 3 with the same cover. I decided to read the one with 3 books because I didn't want to miss out on a story. I'm glad I did. I had never read any of these authors before and I know from experience that everyone approaches Amish fiction differently. The first thing I noticed was the glossary before each story. They were all Dutch but for Pennsylvania, Michigan and Texas. I appreciated that. Each book ended with Discussion Questions, Acknowledgements (except for Irvin) and an About the Author. The book has a section on Recipes but I was disappointed to discover it only contained ONE recipe from Naomi's Gift, that could have just been added to the end of that story. The book opens with other works from the author and ends with other collections and includes an excerpt from An Amish Year by Beth Wiseman, which I did not read.
The opening story, Naomi's Gift by Amy Clipston, was the highlight for me. It was a 5 star read in my book and I will be reading another one of her books in the future. It was the only story that wasn't accessible to me as a stand alone book. So I'm half thrilled I chose the collection.
I thought An Unexpected Joy by Ruth Reid was just okay. I would consider her in the future as the writing wasn't bad I just wasn't crazy about the story.
I didn't like A Christmas Visitor by Kelly Irvin. I'm sure she has written better but for me the story was all over the place and it wasn't my favorite topic to boot. If it was not part of a collection and I was not I was not tracking my reading on Goodreads as a New Year's resolution I would have most definitely not finished this story. I never get confused when reading multiple books, but this story use names of main characters from the other 2 stories as supporting characters in its story. I realize there are limited names here but that kind of got on my nerves for some reason even though I knew they weren't the same people, having a new Abigail and Susan so soon made it harder for me to generate a new character in my mind so they got blank faces from me, which didn't help the story.
Recommend to others?: Yes and no. If you like Amish Fiction or if you're interested in giving it a try I recommend this book collection, An Amish Christmas Gift. Personally I recommend you skip the collection and look for a copy of Naomi's Gift, it outshined the other stories in my opinion and that may have affected my reading experience.
Look, it's the holiday season, and lieu of parking myself on the couch watching Hallmark movies (which, let's be honest, I'll do anyway...), I parked myself on the couch reading the literary equivalent: Amish Christmas romance novellas. Before cracking the cover, I knew the basic plot outline, the general stock characters, and how the story is going to end, and yet I didn't care. This was feel-good fluff.
Of the three novellas, I especially enjoyed the second ("An Unexpected Joy"). Abigail felt like the most completely developed protagonist of the three women, and I could feel her hurt and frustration through the pages. (I didn't fully buy the ending with the abrupt "he loves me, now yay marriage!" but c'est la vie...) "Naomi's Gift" was sweet and heartfelt, and "A Christmas Visitor" was different: it's not often that one reads about the AmishcommunityinTexas. (But again, the ending was too neatly wrapped up: joining the Amish community doesn't seem to be *quite* as easy as the story makes out.)
Overall, this collection was a nice use of my time. And now back to the holiday movies... =)
A great book by great authors! I loved each story, the characters and the settings! Naomi is convinced that she will always be single. She has resigned herself to the fact that she should be content with her quilting business and taking care og her family. Caleb is visiting his sister for the holidays. He's still mourning his wife but he's trying to stay positive for his daughter's sake. Caleb and Naomi begin to care for each other and they receive the most precious gift of love. Abigail starts working for Micah, taking care of his grandmother. She's a chatterbox and he's very quiet. Abigail's compassionate care of his grandmother opens his heart to her. Frannie's parents send her to live with her aunt and uncle so that she'll forget about Rocky. Rocky seeks her out and becomes determined to be the man that she needs. He gives her the ultimate gift of love.
I feel a little cheated with this book the 1st story Naomi Gift this is one that had been in A Kauffman Amish Christmas which i had got back in 2014 while it was a good story i do feel that it should have been told that it was in there
The 2nd story was a nice one which i enjoyed
The 3rd one I can't say i enjoyed that much i had started to read ones from the series which is about Bees County it called the Christmas Visitor but the Christmas part come right at the end which to come under Christmas I feel is wrong as he arrives in autumn & is there for Thanksgiven so it a wrong title also what out this book is also sold as a stand alone book plus in "Amish Winter" Novellas
Clocking in at 409 pages total, this is a cozy collection of Amish-themed Christmas romance novellas written by Amy Clipston, Ruth Reid and Kelly Irvin. While the first story, Naomi's Gift, takes place in the well known Amish area of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, the other two incorporate areas less commonly referenced in this genre -- St. Joseph County, Michigan in An Unexpected Joy and Bee County, Texas in A Christmas Visitor. So let's break down & discuss each of these!
Naomi's Gift by Amy Clipston
Naomi King, 24, works in her family's quilt shop in Lancaster, PA. After a couple of failed romances and no new romantic prospects on the horizon, she finds herself feeling pretty passive about her situation. She grudgingly accepts her "old maid" status, believing that she's just destined to be the child that stays in the home to help her parents and siblings. That is until she meets Caleb. Caleb is a widower with a 7 year old daughter, Susie. Caleb is the brother of one of Naomi's neighbors, but he's been living in Ohio for many years. This year he decides to come back home to visit his family for Christmas. Caleb & Naomi get to know each other through Susie's fascination with Naomi's quilt shop. As a friendship between them develops, Caleb wonders if it's time to come back home to Lancaster.
My thoughts: A cute if pretty predictable romance. The friendship between Caleb and Naomi is full of warm fuzzies, making it perfect for a holiday read, but there was one thing that kept bugging me. Caleb has family in Lancaster, but has been living in Ohio for 10 years or so at the request of his late wife whose family lived there. Naomi is 24, which means she would have only been 14 when Caleb left town, yet in this story they are written as if they've never met....even though Caleb's brother is Naomi's neighbor? How would they have never run into each other before?!
An Unexpected Joy by Ruth Reid
Abigail Kemp, 23, is hired by Micah Zook to be a caretaker to his grandmother while his parents are out of town. Micah, a glassworks artist, is a little overwhelmed with orders for Christmas gifts as well as a Christmas wedding and needs all the time he can get to get caught up. At first Micah finds Abigail's bubbly, uber-chatty personality a little exhausting, nicknaming her "Gabby Abby". Over time though, he finds himself being able to more easily look past that, taken by her kind and generous nature. In fact, Abby convinces Micah to hire a veteran suffering from PTSD that many others in the community have written off. Caleb himself is hesitant, concerned that the man might be a liability, but Abby teaches him that it's more important to concern yourself with living by a code of compassion and honest, good deeds rather than fretting over the opinions of others. Abby and Caleb also come to see that even though life might throw a wrench in your original plans, it can often be the start of something even better!
My thoughts: I think this was my personal favorite of the collection. There are a number of adorable, humorous moments between Caleb and Abby as Abby unabatingly pours her sunshiney personality all over Caleb's constant crabbiness, which amusingly just frustrates him more. The thing that impressed me most that Abby isn't written as one-dimensional as you might think. She does have moments where her more serious side peeks through, making one think -- when you run into others that seem over-the-top bubbly, might make you wonder what lies underneath that that they're scared to let others see.
A Christmas Visitor by Kelly Irvin
Frannie Mast meets and falls in love with English (non-Amish) man Rocky Sanders while on her rumspringa. Frannie's family does not approve of the relationship and does their best to separate the two, insisting that Frannie return to the family homestead. Come Christmas season, Rocky makes a surprise appearance to make it known that he deeply cares for Frannie and is intent on learning the Amish culture. At first no one takes him seriously, waiting for him to leave, but the elders are gradually impressed by his persistence in learning the traditions. Frannie herself is surprised and confused at Rocky's dedication but, since she has developed strong feelings for the guy, can only hope his follow-through game is strong to the end.
My thoughts: While not a bad story, my issue with this one is that the plotline took a hit with keeping the whole thing at novella length. We don't get to know much about the development of the relationship between Rocky and Frannie while she was on her rumspringa trip, so it was hard for me as the reader to understand Rocky's sudden commitment to converting to the Amish life. It felt a little too out of nowhere. What was it about Frannie exactly that had him knowing she was worth leaving the modern lifestyle he'd always known. The story doesn't really get into it all that well. Subsequently, it made the later bits of romance between them feel pretty rushed... because I didn't have a satisfying amount of backstory.
As a whole, you get pretty much what you'd expect with this kind of collection. The romances are cute and tame, full of side glance smiles and hands "accidentally" brushing up to the whirlwind confession of love and oaths of eternal devotion. Nothing that was long-term memorable for me necessarily, but a solid holiday collection to escape into, particularly if you like the drama in your reading to be minimal and you really want that HEA.

An Amish Christmas Gift is a wonderful trilogy of stories written by Amy Clipston, Ruth Reid, and Kelly Irvin. Each story is set at Christmas time and displays each authors special writing talents. I enjoyed each story and the characters are very likeable.
I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response and all opinions are my own. I have rated this book with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful book that I can highly recommend to others.
Ever read a story and feel like you KNOW what it will be about, but it's about so much MORE? Kelly Irvin's 'A Christmas Visitor' from this collection was such a story for me. Though I figured out the 'twist' fairly early on, nothing could prepare me for the tears I would shed when the main character KNEW that they would be okay no matter what happened . . . that they would be content to live in God's will for their lives. (5 stars for that story in the collection) 4.25 stars for the collection overall!
Of the three stories in this book, the second one "An unexpected Joy" was my favorite. It was cute and fun and I enjoyed listening to the audiobook. The first was my least favorite. Unfortunately, I found it to be a bit corny (for lack of a better word) at times. The third story was okay but I just wasn't drawn to the main character.
Overall, the stories were a little cliche but interesting enough to listen to on my drives to and from work. Lighthearted and simple.
I actually listened to this book on Audible, but there wasn’t an edition for that on Goodreads, and since I also own the Kindle, it seemed logical to leave my review on this edition. I enjoyed all three stories which are all authors that I’ve read individually and in other Amish romance collections. I did notice that this edition names Tricia Goyer as an author, but it is actually Ruth Reid who wrote the second story. I read this during December as my pre-Christmas reading.
I’ve never been one to read seasonal books, all in the correct season. But I am this year. This is one of several Amish Christmas books, I’ve completed. The first story, Naomi’s Gift by Amy Clipston is also a stand alone novella which I already finished. The other authors I have never encountered but I enjoyed their stories and writing style also.
three novellas in book. The first-Naomi's gift by Amy Clipston, the second -An Unexpected Joy by Ruth Reid and the third-A Christmas Vistor by Kelly Irvin. They were all very sweet and fun to read as Christmas is coming soon. Hope to find more by all three authors soon.
These three novellas have a similar feel to them. They are set in the Amish community during the Christmas season, romance is in the air, maybe, and there is a problem to overcome. They are quick reads, and all three are inspiring and joyful tales for any time of year.
Another reading choice to fit the season. I am not sure what I think so far. I have liked a number of Amish novels before, so I was hoping this would be good as well. The 1st story is heavy on the attempt at language/lingo that seems to go too far and isn't consistent.
Ok. Had heard the 1st stories before. But the second story was ok and made you kind of mad at the Amish people sounding snobbish to outsiders. But I lost interest in the last story and couldn't wait for it to emd.
Oh my goodness! This is my pic of the year for Christmas. Three short stories under one cover. Each one amazing. Super sweet, great characters, original, fun and romantic stories. I absolutely loved this one!
