In today's I-want-it-now-climate--and yes, I, too, want things NOW!--this book is a great reminder that the future will come eventually, and it's a lot better to have some cash socked away for a rainy day than to spend it as soon as it reaches your hands. The author provides reasons for saving money as well as offering some ways to so. By distinguishing between needs and wants and short- and long-term goals, readers may find that they can save more money than they thought they could. Of course, saving isn't its own reward: It's what we can buy with all that money we saved that makes us feel so great. Some things really ARE worth waiting--and saving--for. I like the practical tips and the math problems that are rooted in real world situations that each of us might face. Solving the problems gives readers a chance to try their hands at some personal finances. Given the high credit debt that so many of us carry, that can't be a bad thing.
