The isolated island retreat was the last place anyone would look for former socialite Samantha James. Yet danger finds her anyway—accidentally. The assassin who breaks into her room doesn't realize that she and Diego Cruz—his real target—switched cabins. But it doesn't matter that she's not who he came to attack. She's seen his face…so she's his new target. Blaming himself for her situation, Diego will do anything to keep Samantha safe. After years working undercover as an FBI informant, he's accustomed to danger. But he's not used to having a beautiful woman's life resting in his hands…or a killer with everything to lose closing in on his heels.

"The characters demonstrate that while it is easy to be consumed by bitterness, it is important to remember that faith means believing in what you cannot see. The author has a personal connection to this story, and that really increases the emotional pull and makes for a gripping read" (4 stars @ RT Book Reviews).
I really wanted to like this book. The plot, characters and scenario sounded great. However. the characters kept making really stupid decisions that (especially in the hero's line of work) they would knew wouldn't turn out well.
Example and possible spoiler alert:
The main character is currently being targeted and hunted down but decides to return back to his old neighborhood where his family lives and proceed to play basketball with neighborhood kids. In the wide open?! Where he is currently a target and being hunted by local gang members. Really?
I know that these decisions were made to add more action and suspense to the storyline but it just made me frustrated. I did finish this book even thought I wanted to DNF it, it just took me weeks to do so.
Fast paced nonstop action that has you turning pages quickly. My heart couldn’t have taken much more suspense. This is a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time and being sucked into a cyclone of events that has your heart pounding. A quick enjoyable read with a little romance to balance it out. I especially loved the element of depending on faith to get you through. I won a copy of this book from a blog. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.
This little quick read wore me out. 1 star for the believability of all that happened so quickly and that everyone kept going despite all the fights. 4 stars for the romance—I liked Diego a lot. It was a fun book if you just need something not too heavy.
A really fast moving story. There's a whole lot of action, thrills and suspense. This one had me sitting on the edge of my seat, from the very beginning to the end.
I always enjoy Sharon's work. She writes a mean suspense. This story is well written, fast paced and full of adventure. I love the way she weaves faith throughout the story. Divorced Samantha James is a former socialite who has lost everything. She is trying to rebuild her life. Working with a catering company she comes to a secluded island to set up the place for a wedding. She is not interested in making friends with the only other camper on the place. She does everything in her power to make her feelings known but when she is attacked in her cabin that night he is the only one she can turn to. Diego Cruz was a street kid. He is now working with the FBI as an undercover informant. He has switched cabin but when his beautiful young neighbor is attacked he knows the assassin was after him. He will do everything he can to protect her but she has seen the assassin's face. The assassin will do everything he can to kill them both. A journey of two broken people trying to survive on a small island with a cold blood killer after them. They soon realize only God will save them. They must learn to trust God and each other. God has a plan for these two and He has a plan for you. You might not have an assassin after you but you do have the devil, who is out to kill, steal, and destroy. God will make a way where there seems to be no way.
Talk about being in the wrong place at the wrong time! Samantha's already complicated life has just gotten more so. Diego is heartsick that she's been dragged into the mess and in true hero mode, vows to keep her safe. Which turns out to be easier said than done. No matter how far they run, danger is always looming. I'm coining the phrase 'Velcro Villain' for this one 'cause this guy's pursuit is relentless. Heavy on action, lighter on the romance, Mistaken Target will keep you turning pages right to the very end.
Refreshingly clean suspense story with two characters who are targets for a killer trying to kill the guy (Diego) but when the girl (Samantha) sees him, he must eliminate her as well. The couple forced together by a common enemy are in and out of trouble with the killer and his henchmen but Diego has faith God will bring them through it all. I won this from Goodreads and it is a Love Inspired Suspense.
I loved this book!! It was full of action and adventure. A very quick read due to all of the twists and turns in the storyline. I was on the edge of my seat during the whole book wondering what was gonna be around the next corner. I love it also when love sneaks up on the characters in the book, and that is just what happened here. Ms. Dunn did an excellent job writing this book and I will be sure to keep an eye out for her books in the future!
In the past I almost always finished books I started unless I felt they had inappropriate material. On page 52 of Mistaken Target I decided life is too short and there are too many other books I'd rather be reading to commit any more time to this one. I am not being critical, and this book may be great for a different reader, but the writer's style just wasn't for me.
This book was an easy read. It was a fast paced book that held my interest. I read this in one day. The only complaint I have is the characters were not well developed and there seemed to be some time lapses in the story line. Overall, it was an enjoyable read.
This was a good book. Samantha Jones was on a isolated island were no one would even look for a socialite. Samantha and Diego Cruz switch cabin on the island. Yet danger seem to find her on this isolated island. The assassin killer broken into her room and attacked her not realized Diego and Samantha switch cabin.
I was exhausted reading this book! The hero and heroine were constantly on the run from the villain. It read more as a screen play for a TV show. But it was a distraction from real life while I was waiting for my book on hold from the library! My back doors neighbor loaned it to me. She gave me about six . All inspirational romantic suspense.
