The Galahad Archives Book Two: Into Deep Space is the second of three thrilling two-book omnibus editions in the Galahad Archives series for young adults by Dom Testa. The edition includes the novels The Cassini Code and The Dark Zone.
When the tail of the comet Bhaktul flicks through the Earth's atmosphere, deadly particles are left in its wake. Suddenly, mankind is confronted with a virus that devastates the adult population. Only those under the age of eighteen seem to be immune. A renowned scientist proposes a bold plan: to create a ship that will carry a crew of 251 teenagers to a home in a distant solar system. Two years later, the Galahad and its crew―none over the age of sixteen―is launched.
A small group of crew members begins lobbying for their return to Earth just as the ship enters the Kuiper Belt, the deadly minefield of asteroids that surrounds the solar system. It's up to sixteen-year-old commander Triana Martell to navigate the ship and convince her crew to forge ahead, but what awaits them on the other side of the asteroid belt could render her efforts futile.
The Comet’s Curse, now collected in The Galahad Archives Book One: Leaving Earth, is on the American Library Association’s Popular Paperback for Young Adults list.
“What began as a fairly straightforward tale of 251 teens shot into space to escape a ravaging disease on Earth became a deeper, broader, scarier, and more intellectually stimulating journey with every book.” ―Booklist, starred review, on the Galahad Archives series
Ok. So. Since this is an omnibus book I'm going to say a little about each story as both have different star ratings.
Story 1 (which is actually story 3 in the series) - 1 star (to be generous)
Omfg I think this cured my insomnia. God it was awful. I was so bored and what the hell was the whole romance thing with Channy! It was stupid and really ruined this series. I hated it actually. Nothing good to say about it other than it ended without me needing to toss back to the author and ask for a complete re-write. But I wouldn't think twice about it if I actually could legitimately do so.
Story 2 (which is actually story 4 in the series) - 3.5 stars
Well thank god this story actually included a chuck of it to be very good! For a while in it there was a scene that really gripped my attention and had my heart racing. I couldn't read it fast enough to know what happens next. It does also have a sadness to it involving... Plus it ended on a very interesting event so I'm definitely reading the next and last, omnibus for this series.
PS, I am glad to announce that the whole Channy love sick vomit story has fazed down and soon to be non existent.
This is the 5th & 6th book in this series; at the moment the author hasn't continued the story (meaning - this is the end...so far!). So, though the readers are left with a couple of cliffhangers, this could be the last we hear of teenagers in space! Being a continuation of the space travel saga, this is not a standalone book. Some situations are nicely wrapped up, however it was much slower paced and focused on the intensely private lives of two male council members. Yes, I'm looking forward to reading the next chapters & hopefully they're coming soon!
