Write Here Write Now, a guided activity journal for older kids and trendy teens, encourages young writers to ponder, wonder and, above all, to create. 144 pages packed with witty prompts to inspire creative genius. Naomi Davis Lee and Nicole LaRue (Chronicle Books, 2015).

In what promises to be a debut success, Lee and LaRue entice their readers to become writers, artists, collectors, makers, doers, and explorers. With this book, young readers become wordsmiths, creating short stories, poems, and rhymes. They doodle, color, and draw. They decorate postcards, explore their handwriting, and collect found objects for show and tell. They ask deep questions, wonder about their younger selves, and write letters to their future selves. They play games, help friends, explore their superhero powers, and become outright daydreamers. Say Lee and LaRue, “We challenge our young readers to explore avenues of artistry, inquiry, and imagination.” Lee and LaRue urge their young writers, “Make Write Here Write Now the best book you’ve ever written!’”

Naomi Davis Lee is an author, a professor, a public speaker, an entrepreneur, and a moderately hopeful optimist. She writes children’s books and loves to inspire others (especially young “others”) to make, to do, to write.

She writes to become a more critical thinker, to live a more intentional life, to develop an eye for meaningful things, to connect with others and connect them with each other, and to extoll the virtues of swell things, nifty places, and capital ideas.

It's a brilliant book for young adults and children to help them get into creative writing and generally playing with their imagination!

First you build up your profile, all about your self and then you are set onto imaginative or creative writing tasks to get those creative juices flowing.

My son is nearly 6yrs old and he loves the book, though in part it is aimed at 9yr old + in my opinion.

I initially asked for this book, for me, but it's a little too young for me. So age range I guess would be 9 to 14.

I got this as a goodreads giveaway.

I bought this guided journal for my almost 11-year-old daughter, and it has exceeded my expectations in every way. The prompts are unique and fun, the illustrations are darling, and there are great activities and games sprinkled throughout the book. I especially love that not only did it inspire my daughter to write about things that were important to her, it also left her with a desire to create personal art and take action in meaningful ways, like being a good friend, taking care of herself, and serving others in her community. It was so much fun for her (and she's not finished with the book yet) that we bought a copy to give to all of her friends as birthday gifts this year. We can't wait for a volume 2 of this lovely journal!
