The Legacy #3

Capital Risk

Rate this book
A legacy of revenge…

Sarah:
Dishonored. Avenged. Unbroken.

I never understood my family’s desire for vengeance. The feud between the Atwoods and Bennetts existed for years. I thought we could end it.

I was wrong.

The only way to save my family, my company, and my farm is through blood.

The only way to protect my child is in war.

Darius Bennett will die for the sins he’s committed.

And his sons will forever regret challenging me.

Nicholas:
Betrayed. Possessed. Dangerous.

My father taught me that power and family were the most important aspects of our life.

He was wrong. Nothing is more important than vengeance.

The only way to save my family, my company, and the woman I love is by embracing the same ruthlessness that corrupted my father.

The only way to protect the child is by ending this feud and taking what is mine.

I will have Sarah Atwood…not because she belongs to me, but because I cannot exist without her.

Lana Grayson was born to write anything and everything to do with romance. Her favorite genres range from the dark and twisty to the lighthearted and sentimental—as long as the characters are memorable, the story is fun, and the romance is steamy. 1.5 disappointed stars

I almost didn't finish this book. At about halfway through, I put it down for a day or two (which is totally not like me). I still wanted to slap Sarah silly. Seemed like her character was becoming more stupid and weaker, not stronger. Seriously, she couldn't put 2 + 2 together in regards to her brothers? I figured that shit out in the first book.

Ok, so positives. Sarah gets her revenge, her man, her HEA. There's no cliffhangers, but there is the potential for a spin-off series for those readers who are interested.

I think what most disappointed me was that if a book is going to be dark or disturbing, more than just bits or pieces should be that way. Really, if someone is going to kidnap, rape, beat and torture you, I don't expect forgiveness on almost every level. I guess in addition to the dark romance part, I was expecting more out of the revenges than what came to be. After the hatred I felt for Darius and the board, I wanted them to suffer much more. Also, I really didn't want most (if any) of the characters to be forgiven. I would have been happier if Max stayed dead, Sarah told them all to fuck off, raised the baby herself, appointed a new CEO while she got to do her R&D or whatever else made her happy and gave Anthony a tumble in bed. But hey, that's just me and my bitchy, grudge holding opinion.

I've got no one to blame but myself. I should've stopped at book 1. But silly me I thought it would get better and I would at least like one of the books. Darius should have died in book 2 along with the board members. Book 3 should've been able healing and moving forward. No one seemed smart. Just a bunch of dummies. So over every single person. Didn't understand how she loved Nick. Hell they all needed therapy. By the way it ended there may another book for Reed or Max.

I love a good dark story so when this popped up in my news feed on Facebook I bought it. While the story is dark it is not typical of the dark books I have read in the past. That said, it intrigued me. The characters and the settings this story takes place made it an entertaining twist on the dark I have become familiar with.

The characters are so well-defined. Creating a picture of each character was so easy. Each had a unique trait that drew me to them and I admit I fell for the tormentor, the evil and the bad boys once again. Or should I said I fell three times, and I fell hard. 3 of the main leading characters just draw you in. Charismatic, dominate and easy-going, each in their own right, they each deserve to be feared. The fourth leading male character .. well I can still taste the bitterness and hate he has left in my mind. A fearful, heartless man who will command your attention.
The female lead character is written well and shows so many sides to her personality as the story unfolds. She is strong, weak, determined, defeated, loved, hated and desperate.

I liked the element that the story surrounded itself in. I found it to be creative and interesting. While the author sets up the dark scenes, she lets the reader create most of the details in their mind. The same goes for most of the sex scenes. While we read the set up, the author does not overload on description or details.

You can’t help but want the lead female character to survive. You can’t help but believe the whispers of the three brothers who create hope and desire.

An intriguing, suspenseful and shocking story that will keep you turning the pages, The Takeover Series is worth the read if you enjoy dark erotic romance. Filled with twists and turns, shocking and breath holding moments The Takeover Series is a page turner.

Which is a first for me. Even if I hate the book, I finish it. I just couldn't do it this time. I don't even hate the book. It's okay. Certainly not as good as the others, but it's not bad. I'm just tired of the same old song and dance. Seriously, it was starting to get old reading the same old motives and conflicts over and over again. I also couldn't stomach reading anymore about Darius Bennett. I have no clue why he's still alive at this point since there has been plenty of opportunities to get rid of that character and further the story line in another direction. I don't know...maybe I'll go back and finish this one someday....just not today. Or anytime in the current year.

AMAZING SERIES - I’ve done nothing but read this whole series for the past 12 hours. CAPTIVATING AND SO DIFFERENT.
*EDIT* - After sitting for a couple hours after reading this book, I had to experience the full extent of the effect it had on me. I absolutely adored this series and it's been so long since a series has gripped me this way. I've read some of the reviews and I have to say, I'm going to stay with my 5 star rating. I'm going to have write a bit more on what this series has done for me.

I think what made this story so great was how unique it was, it titillated at the very edge but yet it still pushed you to the brink of frustration and anger. The antagonist was just as brilliantly written as the protagonists and I have to say that the plot twists along the way were just the cherry on the top. I think after reading so many straight forward happily ever after's that this book was a nice change. The series isn't for everyone and I think what brought me to love it was just the timing and the mood I was in for it. The characters were so brilliant at playing their parts in this and although I'm not a fan of a damsel in distress, Sarah played an unbreakable character perfectly. It's so funny through this all... My heart hurts for Max. I'm saddened that we don't have or gain more insight into Reed and Max but I'm happy with how this ended. It might not have been as extent or detailed as I would have liked but all the characters got what they deserved in the end.

First and only series I've read by Lana Grayson and I'm thoroughly impressed.

This series comes with a warning at the beginning saying that this is a dark, sexy, dangerous and wild. The romance is over the top, rough and remorselessly passionate. It is a ménage romance but there is no cheating, and also it is a taboo book, but characters aren’t blood related. If after the warning you thing you can handle it, you will have a great read ahead.
What an ending to the series, Sarah has battelled for everything she has, and the war hasn’t ended yet, but this time she wants it on her own terms. She is ready to fight for what she wants and won’t allow anyone to stand in her way, especially not the man who has tried to control everything she has done, she has thinks that she wants to fight for now. Sarah is still conflicted about what she is feeling for her step brothers as well as what she feels about herself, but now she is strong enough to fight for what she wants and what she believes in. Will she get the HEA she deserves? Will any of them? And will the baddest/sickest man of all be taken down in the end? Or will he finally get what he wants?

WHOA. WHOA. WHOA. Oh my Jesus! This book was hotter than hell! I cannot believe what I just read. Lana Grayson blew my mind AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN. Just when I thought she couldn’t top Takeover or Controlling Interests, the first two books in The Legacy Series, she proved me wrong! What a spectacular conclusion to this series. The story was non stop action, drama and suspense from start to finish. Lana is impeccable with her style of writing, pulling you in from beginning to end.

The conclusion to Nick and Sarah’s story was emotional, sexy and gut wrenching. I absolutely loved these characters! Nick, Reed and Max are Sarah’s step brothers and they are so very different from one another. They each play a specific role in Sarah’s life. I kept thinking “I want to be her!” To be loved the way she was by these three amazing men, was beautiful and touching. I fell hard for all three brothers, but Reed is my favorite and I hope to see more of him in the future.

Now. I need to go THERE. There is a part, a scene in this book that I swear had me fanning myself, I actually had to take a few breaks because it was sensory overload, but in a completely good way! It is absolutely one of the sexiest, hottest, jaw dropping sex scenes I have EVER read. I will never forget THAT PART. EVER. I finished this book days ago, and I still find myself replaying that scene in my head. Capital Risk takes you on one hell of a sexcapade! All I will say is, Sarah is one lucky woman!

Lana you did a tremendous job with the conclusion of Nick and Sarah’s story and you left me completed satisfied. I hope to read more of the Bennett brothers in the future. I knew I’d be a fan for life from the beginning of the first few chapters in Capital Risk. Thanks for a brilliant, sensual and captivating journey! The Legacy Series is simply unforgettable!

Definitely not for the faint of heart. Heed the author's warning when it says the book contains scenes and subject matter that may be difficult to read. This is a very dark romance with some themes that aren't "nice" at all. I'm suffering "story-hangover" now. The book is done and I can't quite process what I've just read. It was a tumultuous emotional roller-coaster ride and I'm disturbed by how much I enjoyed reading this. They went through a lot to get to their happy ending. I was pushed so far out of my comfort zone getting there that I feel like I should sanitize my brain after reading what Darius inflicted on them. The writing is amazing. It has to be for me to be this affected by the story. It took me places I never expected to go.

It's been a very long time since I was simultaneously as excited as I was repulsed about a book series...when I read something as steamy hot as it was disgusting in equal measures. THIS trilogy is just that...an intensely suspenseful, violent and very sexually charged story of families torn between corporate control and domination of one family by another more ruthless one...and the tragic consequences of one mad man's actions.
A father who treats his own sons as his personal guard dogs and then doles out extreme punishment when he is crossed, kidnaps and has his step-daughter repeatedly raped and abused for his own pleasure and gain and acts as if he has the whole world in the palm of his hands...what a repulsive villain Darius Bennett is and how he managed to get away with so much in the series was almost too much to take...but as this author has done in the first two books, always expect the unexpected and no matter how bad things look, there is always some sliver of light ahead.
This was one amazing book and one awesome (if not majorly disturbing) series and although at times it was almost too hard to read what Sarah was being subjected to, I always held out hope she would triumph in the end. Bravo on a job well done!

Just when I think Darius can't get any more demented he ups the ante. This last install meant of this series was like hit after hit after hit. Lana Grayson, bravo even though I know you like Darius but he is plain crazy. In this book I fell for Max, even he had so much guilt in him he still protected Sarah loved her. Reed is too funny and adorable just so full of life and knows to make a shitty situation better just by being their with you. Sharing your problem. Nick that man even though Sarah doubted him and constantly recoiled from him in the beginning. he still pushed through he walls with giving into her, letting er run the show. Sarah I understand she has trauma but, she needs to place her trust in those three men that will do anything for her even take down their own empire if she asked them too. She was too damn stubborn acting on emotions. I know I know, but still she let them get the best of her. now to the sexy steamy part WOW! my kindle was smokin' especially that part in Nick's penthouse a woman needs to be prepared for that. It was utterly hot I want my own set Bennet brothers. I am glad with the way the story ended. I can't wait for your next books!

Wow! What a conclusion to an awesome series. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. That HEA was definitely EARNED and DESERVED. Dang. I was kind of hoping for Darius' end to be more...more. I truly hate him. Love this series. I would recommend this to anyone who loves darker, edgier, taboo type books.

Very disappointed about the series, it started really good with a great story and strong characters and as the story evolved, each book got worse, I just don't understand how that's possible.

‼️Review contains spoiler‼️

The long sigh I heaved when I finished reading this series. Holy crap. All of this could have avoided if Sarah or the men actually hired security guards. I mean not just one but at least a dozen of guards. Come on, you have tons of money yet you failed to protect yourself again AND again. Nothing taught you after you failed to escape the sick SOB the first time? Good god. I’m so sick of reading the same thing happening and repeated again in this final book.

But nevertheless, I still rated this book five stars because one, I really appreciate that the author didn't just brush rape trauma away. She beautifully wrote that scene where Nick and Sarah confronted her trauma. That scene gave me chills. It was absolutely perfect. And not only for Sarah but to Nick, Max and Reed as well. They were part of that trauma as well. My heart ached for them all.

I’m not gonna lie, some decisions Sarah made throughout the series made me frustrated with anger but after all she went through, damn, I don’t blame her at all. She’s just 20 years old and she had to endure all of that. At 20 y/o, I was still debating whether to order a pizza or a pasta. I loved that she grew stronger so much more in the third book.

And Nick, holy shi- this guy was absolutely COLD. I thought Dante Cavallaro was cold enough (and he’s a mafia don) but Nick could give him a run for it. His stillness and patience was dead COLD. He frustrated me to no end but god, his dedication towards Sarah and his brothers were amazing. For two and half books, I waited and waited and waited for him to freaking do something. Avenge Sarah goddamn you. After the insults thrown to her in front of him, I’m not surprised he finally broke and set free of his demon. Even if it took him halfway through (and a bit more) of the third book. But I understood him and why he waited in vain for his and Sarah vengeance. Because this vengeance wouldn't come if he reacted rashly.

My heart broke for what Max and Reed too. God, those two endured so much.

I couldn't help but to smile throughout the epilogue. As it should because this series caused me so much pain but I wouldn’t wish it another way.

One of my fellow reading friends recommend this series to me. She had warned me that this was a intense series with twist and turns you are not expecting. After reading just a quarter through the first book I realized she was not lying and was definitely in for a experience I was not expecting.

I just finished the book and am still confused on how I felt after reading. There are so many things about this book that are "forbidden" in todays society but yet were so exciting and interesting to read/experience along side the characters. The love Sarah has for her step-brothers Nick, Max and Reed started with such hate and loathing but turned into such a warm love like we read in so many other romance novels. One minute you are hating the brothers and the next you want to love them like Sarah and hug away the pain that their father put on them.

My emotions of each character seems to change after every turn. Within pages I was first angry with Nick, Max and Read and the with Sarah for always making things more difficult.

I do have to warn readers there are portions of this book that can be disturbing in nature. If you are a reader who is into more of the corny happy go lucky love stories this might not be the series for you. There are times in this book that will make you look at yourself and wonder why you are routing for the story to go in certain directions.

Enjoy the book for what it is and the love story that does unfold through out the three books.

This series has surprised me every step of the way.
This book was truly an amazing end to the story.
It has a happy ending. Not the one i wanted but this one is more realistic then my happy ending that i wanted.
I could say so much about this book , and series but honestly .. You just have to read it.
Even if you are not that into dark romances , i promise it's worth it.
If you can stomach reading about abuse , the more worse stuff they don't let you read. They skip that.
Also , it's not just a story about abuse.
It's a story about a woman and three brothers who have to survive and trust each other , even do sometimes that seems impossible.
5 stars for the book of course.
But also 5 stars for the series !
One of the best dark romances i have read so far. If not the best at all ..

This is the third and final book in the Legacy Series and one I eagerly anticipated reading and started immediately at the conclusion of Book 2. I have become so invested in the lives of Sarah, Nicklaus, Max and Reed that I wanted, no needed to find out if they got their revenge and their HEA. This book like Books 1 & 2 was filled with an intensity and darkness that at times had me gas[ping for breaths. One minute I would be hoping that whatever they were plotting would be forgotten and that they would all just run away and be the happy, though unconventional family they all thought would never be possible. I was on pins and needles to the end and through some very surprising twists I got the resolution I was hoping for. This is a don't miss Series that should be experienced/

In this part of the book Sarah reveals that she is indeed pregnant and needs help and asks Reed for help as she can not do this pregnancy alone with her asthma. Nicholas, Max and Reed take on the roll once again of trying to protect Sarah from their father and his business partners. Sarah is so much more stronger from everything she has been through that she is finally ready to stand up and get her revenge against Darius for all she has lost due to his hand and she will not stop of feel safe until he is dead.

What I enjoyed most about Capital Risk is watching Sarah truly become a Woman and to stand up for what she believes in, its no longer about revenge for her lost father and brothers but for herself and her child. Seeing all three of her step brothers falling in love with her and trying to finally make things right from all the wrongs they put her through. But some secrets will come to light that just isnt forgivable and for a good reason.

This is the last part of the Takeover series and I love how it ends. This book has Sarah a woman who is pregnant with a baby she never thought she would have but no matter who the father is she loves it fully already, Nicholas a man who always wanted to be like his dad growing up is now a different man because of Sarah and he is happy with what he has become with her, Secrets will be revealed and hearts will be broken but in the end they will still do what they can to protect each other from the true enemy which is Darius, a love story. If you like stories like this, then Capital Risk is a must!

PLEASE NOTE: Capital Risk is the conclusion to the The Legacy Series that began in Takeover. Takeover and Controlling Interests must be read PRIOR to reading Capital Risk. Information provided in my review, below, will contain details revealed in the first two books of this series.
★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Capital Risk picks up two months after Controlling Interests leaves off. Sarah is on the run. Running from everything that was done to her and hiding to ensure that Darius doesn't find her again. But as the life inside her grows, she finds a new sense of strength, purpose. She now vows revenge. She invokes her father's spirit and the determination that drove him in his every effort to destroy the Bennetts. She has put into action, her plan to end Darius and the Bennett name, for good. With that, she must go back to the lion's den and face the Bennetts and plans to put things in motion to end it once and for all.

With the help of her step-brothers, they re-enter that corporate game of chess they've been playing since Sarah acquired her family's company. With her new found strength, she finds that confidence she's always possessed and is now ready to face Darius, head on. Nicholas, Reed and Max are her fierce protectors and are willing to do whatever it takes to keep Sarah and "Bumper" safe from their evil father. Along the way, they reconnect in ways anyone outside their little bubble wouldn't understand and their bond strengthens to an all new high. The love she and Nicholas have for one another grows every minute and now they have more to fight for...a real family. This makes them all the more dangerous and causes Darius and the Board of Directors at Bennett Enterprises to underestimate them.

Capital Risk was an amazing finale to such a dark/twisted/taboo love story and one I won't ever forget. The characters, the suspense and the myriad of emotions this story put me through from the moment I began with Takeover, was incredible. If you're looking for an unforgettable dark romance filled with taboo love...Look no further - THIS. IS. IT!!

This review is for The Legacy Series Books 1 -3.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

To begin, I want you to know that this book is beyond dark and I do not consider it a romance. I needed to take breaks from reading this series because of its "darker" elements. I found it to be disturbing, unsettling and uncomfortable with the general dynamic of the story. I realize that my honest review is not in line with many of the other reviews but, I read to be entertained and transported away from the stresses of my life. This series did not give me the those reactions.

The corporate takeover of Atwood Industries now headed by 20 year old Sarah Atwood after the deaths of her father and two brothers by rival family company run Darius and Nicholas Bennett is hell and gone from acceptable behavior. The graphic detail of Sarah's treatment with the Bennetts especially from Darius is appalling. What kept me reading the story was first, my responsibilty to keep my word to Hidden Gems to do an review and secondly, I prayed for the satisfaction of justice served. Unfortunately, I do not think that the ending provided the justice required to pay for all the physical, mental and emotional abuse of Sarah as well as her step brothers even if it is considered a romance with a HEA.

This story is not what I enjoy to read but, you might. Technically speaking, it is well written, has character development and intense dialogue, just be warned about the content.

I received this book for free as an ARC for a honest review.

This was one of the most gritty, disturbing and frightening book series I have read. The range of emotions I felt changed from page to page. Sarah is strong-minded, willful and brave while being physically weak and timid. The abuse she she endured would have broken a normal person within the first few days of capture. Her life was destroyed over and over again at the hands of Darius Bennett but she never waivered. Never gave up and never let him win.

Nick, Max and Reed never had a normal life being the sons of a monster. Never did they know love or compassion until Sarah Atwood was forced into captivity and raped over and over again to breed a Bennett heir. While being controlled and abused by their monster of a father, they learned resiliency, bravery and forgiveness from the person they were raised to hate the most. Emotional, physical and mental abuse were all they knew.

This book was beyond disturbing in so many ways. The range of depravity exceeded everything that social norms allow. But the perseverance of Sarah and eventually the Bennett brothers kept me rooting for their success. The hatred of Darius and his sadistic board members kept me hungry for their demise. One minute I hate the brothers for torturing and abusing Sarah and the next minute I want to hold them and protect them from the monster that is their father.

I could not put the book down. As confused as I was, and still am, about my feelings while reading the book, I can't say I didn't enjoy it. The writing and the story were superb. The series was dark and intense. And the twists and turns are gut wrenching. Enjoy the series for what it is. It is not for the faint hearted.

I don't even know how to begin, I was just so happy to finally read the conclusion of Nicholas Bennet and Sarah Atwood. Lana Grayson did not disappoint with Capital Risk.
If you read Takeover and Controlling Interest you will understand how Capital Risk had to be played out. This story is so much about Sarah's need for vengeance to the one man that destroyed her life and her dysfunctional feelings for her step brothers that she loved and hated. While reading I also had to question my feelings for the Bennet brothers, after everything they had put their step sister through. They abused her, humiliated her and had to take turns so they can impregnate her, to satisfy their sick twisted father's need for greed. It also had to be done to save her and themselves, because their father was always one step ahead of them and he didn't care if he had to kill his own sons to get what he wants.
Capital Risk, is Sarah returning home from hiding and seeking revenge on her own terms and doing everything she can to protect her unborn baby, that will be worth more than the Bennets and Atwoods put together (if it is a son ). Sarah is scared, confused and determined and the only people she can turn to our her step brothers.
Nicholas, has gone crazy looking for Sarah for 2 months. He has come to the realization that he will lose everything to gain Sarah's love and trust, which includes his famliy's company and plotting the demise of his father. His love for Sarah is so passionate that it sends shivers to the tips of your fingers.
Nicholas, Max and Reed will do anything to protect her and seek vengeance on their father, but they also need forgiveness for everything that they put Sarah through.
Darius Bennet is one sick, twisted, greedy, perversion of a man, my stomach turned at the mention of this name.
There are secrets that still need to be revealed which could destroy the love and family that Nicholas and Sarah are determined to have. Will she still love and forgive Max and Reed and does she still yearn for their touch? The passion, desire and love is twisted at times but the sexual references are fewer than the last two books. I was very satisfied and crossing my fingers that I hope to read stories of Max and Reed Bennet.

What a fantastic ending for the Legacy trilogy. Darius was truly evil and really I never understood why he felt the need to terrorize Sara. All to get her pregnant to get his hands on a company, all because he felt slighted? I think there was more going on to him than what he said or gave. I think , if you read more into it, he was in love with Sara and he was just trying to do what he could to have a hold on her and he was into the crazy Stockholm Syndrome , hoping to get her to beholden to him. That is my theory…but then I flip back to he was Bats**t crazy and he got everything he deserves after everything he put Sara and his children thru. Hell is a place too good for him. Sara runs after she realized she's pregnant, especially after being attacked and raped by that madman. Nick is in chairman mode, making deals to take out his father- think his father's death and removal from the board and he has Reed and Max trying to find her and protect Sara and when they cannot find her , they are going insane thinking the worse.
Finally when Sara is found, it is heartwarming. The sex scenes are panty melting and OMG, loved it. There is forgiveness after all the bitterness. Does Sara find out who murdered her father and brothers? I cannot answer that but to tell you to read the final installment. No Spoilers here. All I can say is , Before in the other books ,I didn’t like Max at all but in this book, my heart broke for him. I hope he gets his own book someday with his own HEA. This was such a true journey with everything I had hoped and more. This is one of the best books in 2015. Kudos to the author for writing such a moving story and bringing multiple POVs and making me actually care about Max who I had swore I never would. I am so glad that Sara and Nicholas have their HEA.
