Resigned to her unavoidable destiny, she travels to her parents’ ancestral home under the protection of a trusted family friend, where she prepares to navigate a world ruled by dark magic, mystery, and intrigue.

Nothing can prepare her, however, for the surprising affection she feels for the man she has always thought of as her uncle, Soren Vidar - or for the alluring reality of her intended mate, Kristian Vasen. 'I have received this book from the author in return of an honest review.'
This book was a perfect combination of reality, fantasy, humor, adventure and last but certainly not least, ROMANCE! I LOVED this book. It was one of those that you just can't put down for fear that you may miss something important, although you know its not going anywhere. The story instantly draws you into a world where elves, humans and shape-shifters abide along side one another while they are yet at war with each other. The characters are so well described and among the most beautiful I have yet to read so far. Imagine a petite young woman with beautiful, flowing curls of white-blonde hair and silver eyes with an attitude that breaks all the rules. Now visualize what her relationship with a tall muscular male with long, snow-white hair and glowing red eyes would be like. Now, tell them that they can't be together due to bad decisions made on their parents' part. Right, is your heart skipping beats yet? Thought so....this is what kind of journey you are to embark upon when you open this story and engulf yourself into it. I must say hats off to JD Nelson...you have really done it this time my dear...well done. I can't wait to read book 2 of the Night Aberrations series. ~AC Wright (WaAr)~

This book blew me away. I have never been a fan of paranormal novels let alone paranormal with a dash of romance. The author totally took it to a new level for me, and I finished the book the same day that I started it. I love the characters and how the author truly brought them to life for me. I anticipated chapter after chapter and truly felt that she did an awesome job at keeping the readers interest. I would highly recommend this book to my friends! I cannot wait for the next book to come out.

Night Aberrations is a very entertaining start to the series! Even as a male reader, the story grabbed me and didn't turn me loose until the end. This is a must read for any mature reader that likes a little fantasy with their romance.

Night Aberrations

Note: This book is strongly suggested for a mature crowd 18+
Not recommended for younger readers due to sexual content and language.

For those of you who know me, you know that some of my favorite series are Laurell K. Hamilton’s Meredith Gentry & Anita Blake series, Larissa Ione’s Demonica Series and of course J.R Ward Black Dagger Brotherhood, all of these beloved series contain just about the same amount of language and sexual content as Night Aberrations, which is why I found it to be a quite an enjoyable read! Lately YA have been all the uproar, but when you come across books like Night Aberrations, at least if your age appropriate that is, it can be quite a relief and reminder that there isn’t just YA paranormal but also paranormal directed towards a more mature crowd.

The plot was interesting as you don’t see many that mix in different aspects of the paranormal, such as light elves, dark elves, wolves and the son of Odin? Yes this was definitely unique in itself. I found it refreshing and invigorating.

Emelie has lost her parents, and shortly after learns the truth about herself and about what they did that changed her own fate, literally. I was surprised that her own parents could do such a thing, well more directly her mother! I know you may be asking yourself, “What is this girl talking about” Unfortunately, I can not say, I wouldn’t want to ruin the plot for you, but if I have you wondering then I am pleased because this means you are more likely to pick up a copy for yourself. From the beginning I was really drawn in, and especially found an interest in Soren’s character, I found myself laughing towards the end, because in the beginning we see Emelie calling Soren “uncle”, the reason that this is funny to me…. well you have to read it to find out, but I assure you, you will find yourself laughing at this little bit too.

The characters were well developed, as I did not find myself wondering about each of their personalities. I am very fortunate that JD Nelson allowed me to read and review this book. Now onto the bigger question: Do I recommend this book? Yes, without a doubt in my mind, if you found an interest in any of the series that I listed above, you will find yourself diving into this book. The next book in the series is due to come out sometime in Spring 2013, so keep your eyes peeled, I for one can not wait to see what juicy scenes and obstacles await for the characters.

Emelie's life is turned upside down when her parents are murdered. She is thrown into a paranormal world that she is not familiar with. Although she knows she is an elf, she has lived in the human world her whole life. After her parents death, she learns of her fate and how her parents were not who she thought they were. She learns that her mother changed her fate and now Emelie has to deal with the consequences and now has to take the place of her mother.

Night Aberrations is recommended for older readers, as there is sex and some violence. Personally, I enjoyed the romance in this story, not to mention the steamy sex scenes. Emelie has to chose between her love for Soren or her fated mate, Kristian. I don't want to go too much into the details for there are a lot of spoilers and romantic plot twists.

I received Night Aberrations as a gift from JD Nelson directly, and I am truly glad I did. This book kept me reading and I recommend it to all those who love a good paranormal romance book. There are many different creatures in the books, so it isn't just a typical paranormal book that just have one or two different type of paranormal creatures and beings. Thank you so much for allowing me to read and review. It was such a pleasant read and I can't wait for the second to come out! This is the second book I have read by JD Nelson and this story is just as amazing as her other series: A Night of Wickedness.

A review of JD Nelson's Night Aberrations

Firstly, the cover blew me away. It is sexy and intriguing. The blurb and title, which evokes a sense of curiosity further enticed and with that, I delved into it with eagerness.
After reading a number of YA books, though most of them were excellent, this felt like coming home. As both a reader and writer of adult romance, I do so appreciate a good one and when I'm disappointed by such a book, it momentarily leaves me numb. This book left me completed satisfied having had my imagination engrossed so well that I read it in one sitting. The author is skilled with words, adequately describing the emotions of the characters, the plot and the setting. The level of heat in this book, whilst not scorching is nonetheless appropriate and sufficient.
Also, praise must be given to the editor for a flawless execution.

This was the first book I've read about elves and was absolutely drawn into the world painted by Ms. Nelson. Emelie, born part elf, was raised in the real world until her parents' death required her to go to the elven world in order to gain strength and learn magic. Once in the elven world, Emelie learns that she cannot marry her Fated and must marry another as a result of her parents' past actions in tinkering with others' fates. Emelie finds herself drawn between two men and this affords some pretty steamy scenes. Ms. Nelson does a nice job building up the romantic tension between Emelie and both men, all the while keeping it believable why Emelie would feel the way she does when around both men. If you love paranormal reads, elves and erotica, then this novel is for you! Please note that it is intended for mature audiences because of language and sexual situations.

The Author's description of the characters, mood of the settings and simply fun sassiness at every turn paints, a perfect visual picture for me to get lost in. I read books like watching movies in my head and not every Author can create that magic for me. Night Aberrations, the first book in a new series by JD Nelson, has left me wanting more! More Emelie, more Soren (swoon) and most of all, more of the horn-dog wolf Nils!! I can't wait to see Emelie cast HIS fate! Will they all live happily ever after?
Great first book for this talented new writer! Thank Goodness she is working on the second book in the series right now!!

I was given this book by the author in return for an honest review.

What an extraordinary story.
I loved following Emilie as she struggles to deal with the murder's of her parents. To then find out that she is betrothed to the King of the Dark Elves and the incredible journey she undertakes so that she may finally be with her "True Mate" Soren.
The journey is full of twists and surprises and at times extremely dangerous. I cannot wait to see what is next from this author!

This was a fun and intriguing read. Hard to put down. Writing was easy to read and had some very funny humor to it. I always read reviews before reading books and when you see bad reviews its hard to gauge sometimes if you should try it. I'm glad I did! I really enjoyed it. It was differnent and in a very good way. Its not boring and I enjoyed it immensely!

Emelie had her fate decided for her when she was just a baby. Her mother sold her out basically because she was selfish and went against the fates. Therefore Emelie is paying for it by having to mate the Dark Elf King Kristian. She's also in love with Soren who happens to be her intended mate. He's waited thousands of years for her and he's a son of Oden. He was also the best friend of Emelie's Father. He's known he would have to give her up to stop the war between light and dark elves. Its the reason for the mating to Kristian. Her parents were killed so she's got nobody to help her hone her powers. Soren, Jakob, Viggo, and last but not least Nils that naughty wolf will help her control and be better. Kristian is actually not so bad. He's a good guy but because of wanting the throne he set into motion a catastrophe and caused him to be possessed in a way. He's suffered greatly for it. I actually liked him. Everywhere you look there is betrayal and treachery. I loved the book and cant wait for more!

Night Aberrations offers an entertaining and gripping read. J.D. Nelson creates an array of characters who are armed with a variety of personality traits and strengths. She develops her characters, especially Emelie, the main character in a fascinating way, taking the reader along an intriguing concept for a story.

Overall, Night Aberrations, was a thoroughly enjoyable read. It kept me engaged, remained interesting, was fun and sexy while also having elements of darkness to it. A very fascinating paranormal read. At times the story felt a little rushed. The characters developed very fast, and I was, on occasion, left wondering if I'd skipped ahead a few pages. While it had this level of speed, this did not prevent me from enjoying the characters of intriguing plot development.

Night Aberrations is definitely a series I will be following.

**Recommend Mature 18+ for explicit adult situations**
This was a great paranormal read. It has the paranormal, fairytale meets the dark side, and lots of hotties!!!
Emelie's life becomes a nightmare. She finds herself alone and dwindling away. She is rescued by a family friend, but soon wishes that he would have just left her to die. Thanks to her parents taking matters into their own hands, they have left Emelie to take on a fate that is far from a fairytale. She is torn between her true mate and her fated mate. Her choice could stop a war, or it could sentence everyone's death.

The book has a great plot and great characters. Never a dull moment. I have to say, Emelie has a way with getting the attention of some hunks in this book. I have to say , if I were her, I would be a little slutty...LOL If you like a great paranormal fantasy romance, you need to check out this book. You will not be disappointed.

I received this book to give an honest review.
Wow! This book was a quick and fun read for me. I found myself not only liking the attitude that Emelie has but really liking Nils as the side character.
When I first started reading this I was kind of thinking okay what is going on a bit being as Emelie loses her parents and she is just waiting to die. But it all started to make sense as to what Emelie is, and what her destiny entitles her to do. Emelie is to marry the Dark Elf King and of course she just finds this out but he is not her true mate. It is the person that is awfully close to her. With her having to marry the Dark Elf King there is also another creature out there that is wanting her dead and he will get as close as he can to her. The fairies in this one are more different creatures they actually have fangs which is new.

With the magic, sex, humor and a great story plot I am waiting for book 2 to be out. I want to see more of where this story is going to go.

This was a HOT read!! Sexy stuff, and so addicted to the book. This was definitely a book I did not want to put down.
young woman, Emelie, (21yrs old) looses her parents, their friend, Soren, shows up to help her. She is a half elf and has no clue how to use her magic or how powerful her magic is.
Soren is her true fated mate and now her protector and teacher. She also tells her that she was also fated for the Dark Elf King.
This story had a new magical element (to me) for the elves, they have fangs! That is something new to me.
But this story is so hot and heavy! A horny wolf(shape-shifter) the attraction between Emelie and her two Fated mates is so intense, but alot is to blame on the magic spells.
This story has: magic, danger, love, sex and a crazy plot. But it all works so well together. I can't wait to get book 2!

I was given this book by the author for an honest review.

This definitely deviates from normal! According to Wikipedia, an aberration is something that deviates from the normal way. This is a great story of the very different life Emelie leads after her parents are killed. Growing up Emelie knew she was different, but when 'Uncle' Soren, her father's best friend, comes to rescue her he takes her home with him and she learns how different she really is. She struggles to learn her new powers as she fights her attraction to Soren. She is fated to him, but unfortunately she must marry the dark king to end a war. The dark king has issues which are enough to scare anyone away. He can be so caring and then at the same time evil, how does Emelie fall for him? Learn about Emelie's full powers, her lineage and which man wins her heart in the end: Soren, Kristian, or Nils, as all three attempt to be her first.

This was such an enjoyable experience! It takes off right from the beginning and holds you right past the end!
The wide range of characters are all well developed and I was head over heels for Soren the moment I met him sitting in Emelie's living room.....of course Jakob, Viggo, Fenrir and even Kristian all have a certain appeal of their own.
This is not your average good vs evil kind of story. There are so many twists and turns and turns again with these two Kingdoms of light and dark Elves and the force that wants keep them from joining in peace. Throw in some magic, mind reading and yes, even erotic romance and you've got an incredible read that leaves you looking for the next installment!
I absolutely recommend this book and I am on to the next installment.

I loved this book! It sweeps you away to another time and place where a war between dark and light elves is taking our leading female, Emelie, to new responsibilities that she never dreamed of. Discovering what she is and what she has to do for the sake of a kingdom will prove to be the hardest thing she has had to do. Mix in a love triangle with feelings that may be real or not you have yourself a journey of finding new characters to love and a new fantastic world to visit in your head. The author paced the story perfectly so that there was a twist at every corner and lies you didn't imagine. Great job to the author! I'm eagerly awaiting the next book! I give this story my thumbs up!

I dont normally like reading fantasy romance books. I bought this book in an auction hosted to help with funeral expenses of amazing Indie Author.

I am writing this review as a reminnder to myself. I want to remember the name of the author who started my obsession with fantasy romance. I also want to share this review with you, a fellow Goodreads member, to tell you to read this book!

I dont know where to begin with my thoughts on this series. I can attempt to explain my emotions throughout this book, but I won't do it justice. Ill let you decide for your self. Let the magic begin.

Enjoy!

This is the kind of book that I could find myself reading again and again. I loved it that much! Its fast paced and and all around entertaining. So well written that I was able to easily visualize each scene as it played out. I can't wait to find out what happened next. I have found another author to add to my favorites list! Emelie has suffered the loss of her parents and has not yet discovered her magic. Soren, a son of Odin, and her true mate is sent to save her. Happiness for the couple is pushed aside when she is made to marry King Kristian of the black elves. However after twists and turns true love prevails. I loved this story line and most of the characters, I wish real life was as sexy! Excellent read. WaAR

This was my first book by JD Nelson but it wont be my last. Phenomenal story. Very well developed character. A bit of a cliff hanger at the end but the story was wrapped up at the same time. I love the paranormal romance going on. The two different loves for Emilie and her ability to figure it out with just a bit of help.
