Cooper Branson wasn't ready to move on. His life was just fine the way it was and no one could make him change. At least, not willingly. He wore his Widower badge with honor and forced himself to live his life only for his daughter, Madison. Falling for his attractive neighbor was not in the cards for him. It didn't matter that she was the first person he thought of in the morning, or the last voice he needed to hear before falling asleep at night. Loving someone and running the risk of losing them again was not a risk he was willing to take.
Faith Douglas was ready to reinvent herself. After a hurtful betrayal by her closest friend, Faith was determined to live life for herself. The first step to her new outlook on life was doing something she would have never done before. Walking across the lawn and saying hello to her new, hunky neighbor was the bravest thing she had done in a long time. How was she to know that the man would become her world and his daughter would steal her heart? What she never expected was to stand in the shadow of another woman while the man she loved looked right through her.
Finding out who you are, while ignoring the expectations of others, is the toughest path anyone can take. Cooper and Faith have to decide if they’re able to move on from the hurt of the past to find their future.
The characters I write will not be perfect. None of us are. They will make mistakes. All of the hero's will have redeeming qualities, but on the outset, you may not be their biggest fan. My heroine's will be the kind of women you want to hang out with. They're the women next door, down the street and around the corner. They are the ladies you would want to spend time with on a Saturday night drinking a martini.
I have been an avid reader of romance novels since the age of 14 and know what appeals to me as reader. My goal is, and will always be, to provide that same experience for the women and men who read my novellas and short stories.
I’m a former Marine and served for 8 years, so strong military men will always be a favorite topic of mine. I will continue to write stories with military heroes’ front and center. I’m also a fan of Alpha-males and strong women who love with everything they have.
2.5⭐️ (edited content, not rating on 9/21/22) This is an OK read that centers on three main characters: Cooper, a widower and ex-army man, his daughter, Madison, and their next door neighbor, Faith. The story seems unnecessarily drawn out, and it primarily involves the internal dialogues concerning Cooper's and Faith's developing feelings for each other.
In this instance, the most glaring of the problems associated with these protracted inner contemplations is that neither Cooper nor Faith discloses these feelings to the other. There is no rhyme or reason for it—silly when you think about it. Further perplexing, is the sudden connection that occurs between the little girl, Madison, and Faith. While this connection is sweet and precious, what transpired that would account for this inexplicable sudden affinity? No one knows? Unfortunately, my concerns about this book intensified in a way I had not anticipated.
First of all, there is virtually no background information given about Faith. This is what we do know about her: we know that at some time in her past Faith was able to overcome her lack of confidence due to her size. We know Faith’s “best friend” tried to tear her down with body shaming with her nastiness regarding Faith's size, but Faith has the mental fortitude to refuse to let it bother her. When Faith dropped this friend like a hot potato, for the life of me, I can't seem to figure out why this opening sequence, without further explanation, is in the story at all since it had no negative effect on Faith. Which necessarily means Faith had to overcome some things to get to this point, yeah? Was this sufficient backstory? Not for me. Instead of interminable dialogue within themselves, instead, relevant details absent from Faith's background would have been much more germane and valuable as an enhancement of the story.
While there is a glimpse of some background about Cooper's life and the death of his wife, the internal and emotional scars that Cooper suffered because of his deployments to the Middle East is alluded to, but never fully explored in the story. Why allude to it and not explore it further? Moreover, there are several other dangling threads and inexplicable occurrences that are neither explained nor dealt with in any substantive way.
In my opinion, this story had great potential, but it was too drawn out with extraneous details that ultimately went nowhere and actually meant little in the whole scheme of things. The other pesky wrinkle is Faith's and Cooper's internal musings about their changing feelings relative to each other. They became soooo tedious and did nothing to impel this story. IMHO, this book needs extensive reworking to elevate it to a higher rating, and then it could be an interesting read.
I have yet to read a book by this author that I did not enjoy.
This was Faith and Cooper's story. The story starts off with a bang just how I like it. Faith putting her friend in her place. Faith meets Cooper and his daughter and is instantly attracted to him.
Well Cooper takes a lot long to realise his feelings for faith and in the process he manages to hurt her, which was not his intention. The story is intense and I loved that it focussed on the couple and their relationship.
A well written story that allows the characters to grow and develop. Not one of those instant love stories- you know Hero plus Heroine add water and instant HEA . Both Cooper and Faith stumbling along the way back to real love. You will enjoy their journey along the way.
This was the first time that I read a story by Reana Malori I enjoyed reading the love journey of Faith and Cooper. And even the little Madison. Faith and Cooper's relationship was thoroughly thought out and well written. Little Madison's relationship with her dad and with faith again thoroughly written. And very believable I really felt the struggles that faith and Cooper had once they meet and started having romantic feelings for one another. Overall I gave the story of 4.5 rating because I would've liked to of known more about faith and her family prior to meeting Cooper and Madison. I definitely recommend this book to all it was a very enjoyable story. <3
Always a great pleasure reading this author's work. A well written story that flows well, the pages turn themselves. If you enjoy this genre then I can recommend this author's work.
I love the character Faith in this book. She stayed true to herself by giving Cooper time to see what was right in front of him. At times I wanted to drop into the book and shack Cooper but when it finally clicked he proved that he was the Alpha I always knew he was.
This one is my favorite by far from Reana Malori! I absolutely love books about 2nd chances and this was a fantastic read.
Cooper lost his wife 4 years ago in a car accident and he has not been able to let her go. Finally, he realizes that he and his daughter needs to make some changes and buys a new house that happens to be next door to Faith.
For Faith, it is practically love at first sight, but she knows that Cooper is not ready for a relationship and is willing to just be friends. Cooper doesn't know what is coming over him. He can not get his neighbor off his mind. He feels jealousy when she goes out on a date, thinks about her day and night, and wants to spend every waking moment with her.
Sparks fly, passions ignite, love blooms with these two and we get to enjoy their journey towards a beautiful HEA. There was heartache, tears, personal growth, as well as self loathing, denial, and a few sexy bits. It wasn't panty melting sexiness but the sexy bits were steamy.
This was written as a multi pov (which I love). The storyline was fantastic, the dialogue between characters was engaging, and the description to details were done really well, making me feel as if I was there as part of the story.
All in all, a fantastic read.
Would I recommend this book? Absolutely!
Would I read more from this author? Yep! I love how Reana writes and her characters are so entertaining and engaging.
I truly love the story of Cooper, Faith and Madison. Cooper and Madison are new to the neighborhood--as in the moving truck is still in the driveway--when Faith starts playing nosy neighbor. I mean who wouldn't when their new neighbor is Cooper? Cooper is moving to start fresh and look ahead to the future. Memories of his late wife haunted him and he wanted to learn to move on, so that he and his daughter, Madison, could find their future.
Faith had just learned the hard way that sometimes your so called friends are your worst enemies...or jealous! Feeling a little insecure after her friend rips her a new one, hurting her in a way she never expected, she walks out with one thought. What Faith need is a fresh start. To find the 'real' her...put herself out there more. She finds her courage when she takes Cooper a welcome to the neighborhood meal, and from their the sparks light and simmer for a bit while they get to know one another.
Malori's characters were very developed, so much so, that by the end you feel like they are real. Her story is totally believable; it could be about any of us.There is humor, tears and every feeling in between. Will the sparks ever fly? Will Madison accept Faith, and more importantly, will Cooper learn to have enough Faith to move on and have a happily ever after? Hit one click on this wonderful read and see for yourself. Just have a little 'Faith'
3.00 Stars. This book should have been entitled "Loosing Heather" instead of "Finding Faith". Over 80% of this story consists of the hero, Cooper Branson, voicing how much he misses and longs for Heather and how he can not possibly be romantically attracted to Faith Douglas, the story's heroine. The story opens with Faith watching Cooper and his daughter move into the house next door to her. To welcome Cooper to the neighborhood, Faith takes a casserole and her ogling eyes and wanton twitching sexual organs to get a face to face with Cooper. Soon after this overture, Faith and Cooper and Madison, Cooper's 4 year old daughter, start making impromptu visits to each others homes and taking day trips to cites around town. Cooper and Faith are either dating other people with Madison, or Faith is listening to Cooper sing the glories of his 5 years deceased wife. At no time does Faith and Cooper interact romantically except when they kiss and immediately dismiss it at the 60% mark of the book. At 72%,the author has Faith tell the reader that she's in love with Cooper but it's not reciprocated by Cooper until 95 % . Little time spent on establishing romantic chemistry between Faith and Cooper making it hard to cheer for them as a couple. It's also boring having Cooper friend zoning he and Faith relationship. In conclusion, I didn't believe that Cooper suddenly got over his dead wife and fell madly and hopelessly in love with Faith.
Overall I enjoyed this story. I really appreciated that it was more about a friendship that grew into love/romance and not about instant chemistry between two characters who spend the rest of the story unable to control their sexual urges. I would've ranked this book higher if it wasn't for the last 1/4 of the book or so. I hate how needy Faith became. She kept saying things like she wasn't going to spend her life waiting on Cooper, yet she never stepped up to tell Cooper how she felt about him. Every other scene she was crying because Cooper hadn't confessed his love to her. It was annoying. If you want to be more than friends, sometimes you have to risk being the one to make the first move. I also hated how they handled things with Heather's mom. But despite all of that it was still a decent story. I definitely do not regret giving this book a chance but I can't say it is among the best books I have read in this genre.
I loved this story! Faith, Cooper and Madison are such a great set of characters. The development of the relationship between the three and how the other family members reacted to this relationship made for a great story. Loved this story.
This was good. I enjoyed the storyline. Widower finds love after four years. I liked that Faith had a backbone. His mother-in-law was a trip. The love was not instant, but grew. I will read something else by this author.
I have read three of this author's books. I love how she gets you emotionally invested in the romance. Im just tired of the bumbling, insecure, hunchback whale portrayals of the black women. Please give these women some pride & other dating prospects. The man always has women chasing him but the black woman is waiting around to be noticed & desired. I hope you don't think this is the norm for black women. There are beautiful & kind bw. They do exist. Faith is fictional but I still cringed at how pathetic she was. Also it interesting that the white male lead always mentions how he's never noticed bw or how the heroine isn't his normal type because she's black but never have the bw hesitant about dating a wm. If you know bw & have bw friends, you would know bw are the ones that are usually reluctant to date non bm. Please explore that perspective. Its a popular one. Most bw want to marry bm. Given the history it's understandable bw would be hesitant. Stop making the bw so desperate & needy. We all aren't like that especially with wm. It makes the stakes much higher if she has reservations too. I'm disappointed that a bw author only sees bw in this light. Bw don't typically become stuttering fools around attractive wm. We usually don't view them as prospects nor do we expect them to view us that way no matter how pretty. They usually gotta break through that wall to get bw to entertain the idea. It's ok to explore that nuance.
I was surprised by the story development. After reading the blurb I thought I will get the normal quick read of finding insta love followed by the suspected HEA. So wrong! Goodness. Rarely an free book keeps me on my toes like this one. I got the book via an promotion on BookFunnel and took it because I like quick reads in between “real books “. Wrong again. Ok, it wasn’t an 180000 word count bur it was an amazing read!!! I am clad to say that I found an new author to ad to my preferred author list. Now a little word to her work. I loved the story of Faith and Cooper. I really liked the approach via the deceit coming from her ‘friend’ . As an no size 6 I can fully relate. And I also can relate to all of the other happenings, either in her relationship with Cooper or with Madeline or with Heather or with Marge. Heartwarming, intelligent, reliable and believable. You are feeling good reading this book right from the start because Mrs Malori knows how to draw you in with the internal debates of both of the main characters. Actually as well by Cooper as by Faith. Luckily Cooper got his bearings together before loosing any chance of love by finding (F) faith.... Love and recommend it!!! Andrea
His Second Chance With An Angel - Cooper was still grieving the loss of his wife when he moved into his new home and wasn’t looking for a relationship. However, something stirred in him the moment he met Fiona and he knew life as he knew it would no longer be the same. Whilst his mind was still holding him back on moving on, his heart beat to a different tune anytime he was close to Fiona.
Unfortunately, his precocious daughter didn’t make it easy for either one of them, as she latched onto Fiona and wouldn’t let go. Spending time together brought them closer, but their insecurities and lack of honest communication, nearly cost them their happiness. It would take Fiona taking a stand to stop their back and forth, to make Cooper acknowledge his true feelings and realise he could miss out on a forever happiness with Fiona.
Their journey to a forever happiness may not have been smooth sailing, but once they got their act together, they finally got their happily ever after. There was so much happening in this story, which had me glued to the pages from the beginning until the end. This is the first book I have read from this author and Incan say it was a wonderful and worthwhile reading experience.
I received an advanced copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
The love story of Cooper, Faith and Madison was a joy to behold, and a pleasure to be a part of. Faith was a curvy girl who put her career first, Cooper was a widower raising his young daughter Madison. Cooper still clung to memories of his dead wife, and Faith did not want to give her heart to a man who may not be able to give all of himself to her. This is a story of how two people fell in love despite the odds against them. I really enjoyed this story, I loved how slowly their love grew for one another. I loved how they didn't just fall into bed with each other, even though the attraction was there. The chemistry between the two characters was palatable, and you found yourself waiting for them to finally realize that they should go for it. Finding Faith is a very good story, you get to know and love the characters while becoming invested in their love story.
Finding Faith by Reana Malori is an entertaining read. This is a fairly short book, a great choice for those with limited reading time. Ms. Malori has delivered a book that is well-written and loaded it with great characters. Cooper lost his wife to a car accident, leaving him to raise their infant daughter alone. Faith has decided to live her life for herself after having a close friend hurt her. Cooper and Faith's story is touching and filled with drama, humor and sizzle. I enjoyed reading Finding Faith. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
The writer gives us such a sweet story on finding love and letting it go. I loved the fact that hero which is Cooper comes to the conclusion it's time to move on and recognized that Faith was the one for him. I also loved that Faith decided that she was not going to play second to anyone dead or alive. This was good entertainment, but I would have loved to have seen the two main characters fight for this love and family a little more. Also the former best friend, seems to me we should have gotten an ear your heart out moment. Overall was just a good way to spend time.
I really enjoyed this story. I’m glad I didn’t let the last story by the author which I didn’t care for too much, to prevent me from trying her other work.
Cooper was so ridiculous and selfish in the beginning. I’m glad he got himself together. I loved faith and Madison’s relationship from jump. I was read to go off on marge. Glad she finally found her act right button.
This was a cool story. It’s always hard when one person is dealing with the death of their last love. It has the other person feeling like they are competing with a dead person. Glad cooper and faith made it work. Their journey, though frustrating at times was fun to see play out
I’ve read two of Reanna’s novellas and they’ve been amazing but I wanted something longer so chose this book and it was so unnecessarily drawn out. I kept waiting for something to happen but by 65% they were still analysing their feelings going back and forth as to whether they liked each other and should make a move or not. Then deciding to then backing out again! Like seriously. That should have been done and dusted by 30% max. Also the beginning with her friend was weird with no back story. Where was faith’s family and she only had the one friend who turned on her? I guess I’ll go back to her novellas
I loved Cooper and Faith's story. This was such a sweet and tender love between the two of them. Loved Madison very smart little girl. I felt a little sorry for his mother-in-law I was glad she came around. I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who enjoy reading a sweet loving story. I think you will enjoy this book. This is my first book by Reana and I will be definitely reading more of her work. Great job Reana and thank you. Love the cover by the way.
Nice to have a story where the character actually got to know each other for an extended amount of time before sleeping together. Faith new next door neighbor is a widower single father. She falls for both Cooper and his daughter Madison. This story is how they started as friends and grew to love each other as a family. Lovely story not to much angst. Appreciate this toned down story.
The story was a solid 4 stars, but the storytelling was a frustrating 2 stars. Cooper and Faith were a beautiful and sweet couple. Cooper had to let go a the past to embrace the future. Faith had to learn to love herself and feel beautiful no matter what anyone says. However, I was pissed that all the pivotal moments in the character’s lives were narrated and I didn’t get to experience any of them.
I really enjoyed this story, and the characters were very entertaining. I loved the chemistry between Cooper and Faith it was smoking hot 🔥 and intense. The storyline was interesting and endearing, but it was a little too wordy. Some things were said over and over, making the story longer than need be. But it is a book I would recommend to my fellow romance readers. I loved the main characters they were strong and loving.
I know it’s hard for the those who love you to let go of the one they lost. But when God is moving in peoples lives and blessing them with gifts he has prepared for them no man can change the direction of Gods purpose. The baby needed a woman in her life and the man need his other half, he was so lost without his 1st gift God so fit to send him a second gift of his love! Amen
This was a very good book it kept my interest I didn't want to skip. Conner was a widower with a daughter who was still holding on to his read wife memory. Faith was his next for neighbor that he fell In love with even though he was still in love with his deceased with long story short They fell in love great book I recommend it
I am a sucker for a happy ending. Reana Malori puts just enough hurdles, but not so many that you get frustrated with the couples and want to say find someone else. She captures the feelings and uncertainty of leaving an old love and embarking in a new relationship.
I loved the beginning and how confident Faith was with her size but it just seemed to go down from there. Why did she become so insecure the more he seemed into her. She went from a strong beautiful confident black woman with a great career to a shy nervous young girl.
I really wanted to like this book. I had a feeling it wasn’t going to do it for me, but I’d figure I’d give it a shot. But the hero kept on mentioning his previous wife and his behavior was so confusing. I really liked Faith’s character but honestly it just wasn’t my cup of tea. But I would recommend this book for other people if they like this trope.
