يتحدث الكتاب عن الشكل والموقف اللذين تكونت في ظلها آراء انجلس الشاب , وكيف أصبح ديموقراطيا ثوريا , وعن ذلك الدور الذي اضطلع به في حياته لقاؤه مع كارل ماركس .
وبالإضافة إلى وقائع سيرة الحياة يخصص في الكتاب مكان كبير لعرض مؤلفات انجلس وكذلك الكتب التي ألفها مع ماركس .

Evgeniya Akimovna Stepanova (Евгения Акимовна Степанова) (1899-1988)

Soviet historian, Doctor of Historical Sciences (1959).

Graduated from the Institute of Red Professors in 1931. Member of the CPSU since 1918, candidate member of the Central Committee of the CPSU from 1952-56. From 1918 to 1928 she carried on party and teaching work. In 1931 she graduated from the Institute of Red Professors. From 1931 to 1952 he was a senior researcher (with interruptions), from 1953 to 1958 he was deputy director, and from 1958 a consultant to the Institute of Marxism-Leninism under the Central Committee of the CPSU. Author of the work "Friedrich Engels" (1935, Lenin Prize of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, 1936, 2nd, revised and enlarged edition 1956). A member of the group of authors who prepared the works: “Karl Marx. Biography "(1968, 2nd ed. 1973)," Friedrich Engels. Biography "(1970). Prepared and edited a number of volumes of the 1st and 2nd edition of the Works of K. Marx and F. Engels.
She was buried in Moscow.

She died in 1988
