Eve Bryant finds herself moving across the country with only one goal—to rediscover herself and get her life back on track…

Leaving a disastrous marriage, she swears off men and relationships, but when she meets sexy, charismatic Grant Mitchell, her new rules fly right out the window.

Grant is a born and bred businessman, and he always gets what he wants…

The moment he lays eyes on Eve, Grant is determined she will be his. She’s different from other women he knows—too stiff, too prim—but her smile pierces his heart and he longs to see what she’s like when she lets her hair down. They discover a powerful and undeniable connection, leading to a fast moving relationship that leaves Eve whirling in its wake.

The odds are stacked against them, and trust is hard to come by.

A woman scorned, a troubled ex-husband, and a mother bent on orchestrating her son’s future to suit her own agenda make for a very rocky road. The new couple may not last, no matter how strong their feelings for each other are. Grant is willing to fight to keep Eve in his life, but after recent events, Eve isn't sure she has any fight left to give.

Will outside forces drive Eve and Grant apart? Or will they learn there’s no love greater than the one you fight the hardest to keep?

To: Grant Mitchell@Shealy James's Imagination
From: Soon to be Ex-Mrs. J@I'm yours
Subject: Leave Eve Alone, Catch Me instead *running in place*

"I’ve been chasing you this whole time. Slow down and let me catch you, Eve. I will. I promise."

Dear Grant,

You don't know me but I was there when you met Eve at that lecture. It was so cute how you promptly sat next to her. How you didn't even notice me. No matter, I forgive you. You, with your fine-ass, 3-pc-suit wearing self. And those eyes of yours? Color me swooned.

I must say that I'm not impressed by your continued pursuit of this woman. Eve, right? She seems kinda flaky. Cold one second, the next, she's all over your coc b-ness. Plus she's got more baggage than Delta Airlines at Thanksgiving. That soon-to-be-ex-hubby of hers sure did a number on her. You sure you're ready for this woman?

I say this because I'm pretty certain I can kick Mr. J to the curb *pushes Mr. J onto the floor*. My lawyer is on speed-dial, ready with them "boy, bye" papers. I'm confident it won't take 10 months to divorce his arse (unlike some people we know *cough*----->Eve). Sigh.

I like how tenacious you are. Following her around, loving up on her, making her feel like she's the only puss woman on earth. *Giggle*. I'll make sure to thank her for training you so well. For what, you ask? For when we're together, silly. At least now I know I'll never have to wonder (much). And what's up with you sleeping your way through the entire female population in Seattle? You know what, it doesn't matter anymore. I FORGIVE YOU.

How cute is your mother (and father)? I love how they hate on Eve- they obviously can see she's no good for you-, not when I'm right here. They'll love me. Sure I'm 10 years a wee bit older than you *cough*, but tell Mom n Pop not to worry about them grandkids. I got this. Janet Jackson just had her first baby at age 50. I got this and I can totally do triplets. 2 boys and a girl. And no, Eve, my ovaries are not as shriveled as a Florida Sunkist Raisin! How rude!

Anyhoos, I see she's done a runner and gone back to Georgia. I don't mean to cause no trouble but are you certain things are def over between her and the hubby? Seems mighty convenient that she's gone back to where HE lives. I'm jus' saying. *hugs Grant to bosoms*

What do mean you're going after her? SHE LEFT, Grant, and my bosoms are right here. And what if her family is frigging adorable?

Sorry? I didn't quite get the last bit. Right. You're marrying her. Right. She's the love of your life. Right. Right.

Right. *Grabs Mr. J and storms off*

I can't believe I rated it with 4 stars two years ago...
Max 2.5 today + adding new shelves. Too many things bothered me.
It's better not to reread older favourites... 🤦🏻‍♀️

2 things I liked about this book: the heroine with a backbone and communication.

The heroine, 30, was a bit meh and weak at the beginning, but gained strength and self-confidence with rapid speed. She didn’t let the hero intimidate her, always fought back and had a sassy repartee each single time – she definitely had guts!
She was married for 8 years and was 10 months separated. Her husband refused to sign divorce papers – main drama in the story.

My first book where each single problem/doubt/issue was clearly explained and nothing left unsaid. Damn, I enjoyed it so much!!!

The hero, 32, manwhore in the past, was surrounded by his previous hook-ups; you name it you have it: PA – yup, flight attendant – yeah, almost all high society acquaintances – yes, and and and. It was so annoying!
But… there was clear communication and every one of this OWs, who came in the picture, was scrutinized and reported *LOL* – the hero, even if he was ashamed, was crystal honest about his past, answered every single question and always told the heroine the truth.

It helped of course that he was celibate for 8 months before he met the heroine. It was almost one year of dry spell for her.

What I absolutely loved about this book:
- the hero was 1000 % over the moon for the heroine
- he was 1000% in love with her
- he was 1000% obsessed with her
- he pursued and wooed her
- he was 1000% devoted to her

After a couple of chapters I had no doubt that he will be faithful to her till the grave… *LOL*

As I mentioned above the heroine didn’t give in easy. Amen!

I’ve been chasing you this whole time. Slow down and let me catch you, Eve. I will. I promise.

Did I like everything? No.
Did I like how his family treated her? No.
Did I like how the heroine fought back? Yes!
Did I want to read about his manwhore past? No.
Did I totally understand/support her divorce closure? No.
Was every single issue explained to my satisfaction? Yes. Yes. Yes.
Did I believe in love between hero and the heroine? YES! YES! YES!
Did I like the epilogue? Yes ;-)
(And I hope to have this couple as side-characters in the next book.)

***I received a complimentary ARC of this book from the publisher, through Netgalley.com, in exchange for honest feedback.***

When Eve moves to Seattle, she isn't looking for any romantic entanglements. Leaving her past, and her drunk husband, behind, she's ready to start a new chapter in her life. Once Mark signs the divorce papers, she'll have the peace of mind that has remained just out of reach. If only he'd quit being difficult and sign the papers!

On her first solo attempt at running an event for her new job, she meets a gorgeous stranger. She's determined to resist the attraction she feels to this Adonis. After all, she hasn't even officially divorced her husband yet. Clearly, she's not eager to jump back into a relationship so soon.

Grant isn't a man that's used to being denied anything he wants, and he wants Eve. As a millionaire CEO, and the grandson of one of the university's founding families, he has virtually unlimited means to find out everything he wants to know about Eve. In no time, he insinuates himself into her daily life.

Grant's persistence eventually pays off and he gets his date with Eve. One date is all that was needed to have these two completely head over heels for one another. Within a few days, they're experiencing growing pains, fighting just to make up again, etc.

Although this book definitely has a strong case of "insta-love", it was still enjoyable and engaging. I enjoy a little angst, and this book definitely featured a heroine that was good at manufacturing drama. Every time they had an argument she wanted to call it quits, which got a little old. However, despite being overly dramatic and predictable, I have to say that I really enjoyed this story.

If it weren't for the large amount of editing oversights in this book, I would have definitely rated it 4 stars. I realize that I read an ARC, so hopefully many of these mistakes will be corrected in the final version. Until then, I docked it a star because the errors were frequent and distracting.

Otherwise, this was a fast-paced and entertaining story. It is similar to many other millionaire/billionaire romances on the market now, and better than most. It is straightforward, with no big surprises, and can be read as a stand-alone. Future books in the series promise to focus on other characters introduced in this book, but may also be read as stand-alone stories.

A shout out to Alex for bringing this gem to my attention.  Despite the mama drama and exes drama, I really dig this book.

Eve our h has been married for 8 years.  Has filed for divorce and was emotionally abused by her husband, decided to move across the country for a change.  She wasn't looking for a man or a relationship BUT fate has other plans.  I didn't like Eve much the first couple of chapters but she grew on me. And I was not happy with her keeping secrets from Grant but I understood.   Eve's family?  I totally ADORE them!

Grant our H *swoon* I love him.  Yeah, he was a manwhore in the past but once he saw Eve? Everything is about her.  I was in the Grant train all through the end.  " To me, it is all ours, because it's all new to me.  You're the first girl I have ever wanted around for more.  I want you all the time for everything.  You're the first girl I have ever fallen in love with.  We both have to face the choices the other has made before we met.  If I had known, I was waiting on you, then would I have done a better job of actually waiting". *swoon* (about to melt here)

I wouldn't have minded reading a conversation about his parents asking forgiveness from Eve for a being snob, horrid people. We did get an epilogue though.

And I will not be reading the next book in this series.  Thank you very much (sarcasm) Kitty as the h, really?  She was a horrible person in this book.

**** 4 Insta Love Stars ****

description

I don't really like reading stories where the characters fall instantly in love, but I enjoyed this story.

Eve is simply trying to start over in life. Her marriage was dragging her down and physically draining. All she wanted was for her divorce to be finalized and to have a fresh start. So she left Georgia and moved to Seattle.

Grant sees Eve. Grant must have Eve.

He's kind of a sexy rich cave man. The divorce bothers him a bit because it isn't finalized, but he is patient and understanding. He is dominating, sweet, and perfect. Too bad his family is the total opposite.

He is everything Eve wants, but can she move on? She meets Grant just days after leaving Georgia. The single life is apparently difficult for her.

"I finally gave my heart away to someone who I trusted to take good care of it."

This wasn't erotic. Most of the sex parts were implied, but there were still some steamy moments. I know the next book is about Kitty, a girl that Grant's parents were trying to set him up with, but I'm not sure if I want to read about her since she was a mean girl. Maybe I just need to read it because she's simply misunderstood. I guess we'll see.

Wow, that was surprisingly a quick read for me. I really liked the blurb and you get exactly what it promises. And I'm going to be honest, the cover is also one of the reasons I gave this one a shot at reading it. And I'm glad I read it, too.

The story starts with Eve moving to her new home in Seattle. Ater leaving her life with her horrible soon to be ex-husband, who's unfortunate only goal is to make Eve's life even more miserable than it already is by not signing the divorce papers, Eve hopes for a fresh start in life. While she's working, she meets this hot guy in a suit, who turns out to be non other than Grant Mitchell. Now, Grant isn't used to being told 'no', so when Eve refuses to go out to dinner with him, it's game on.

I loved how Grant never gave up on Eve, even when she didn't see a happy ever after for them. Thankfully we do get out HEA, but not without ups and downs.
Eve is still emotionally suffering from her almost abusive marriage and Grant has to learn what it means to actually be in a relationship. Both make their mistakes but in the end they learn and grow from them. As if that wasn't hard enough, they also have to fight for ther relationhip on every turn. His mother has had specific plans for whom he is to marry, since his birth and let me tell you, Eve meeting Grant's past lovers on every turn (and there were a looooot of them, too much for my taste) wasn't a walk through the park, neither.

In the end, The CEO is an enjoyable romantic read with a good portion of angst and love. A great read. :)

It's your typical story of girl meets guy who's super gorgeous and so bloody wealthy that every woman wants him, and he's had them all. Now with just one look he wants the regular girl who's so beautiful and smart and sexy, a woman that of course his parents don't approve of. But he doesn't care. He wants her and gets her and won't let anything get in his way. She doesn't feel she belongs in his rich world, and every time she feels like running away, he goes after her reminding her how much he wants her, and then have wonderful, multi-orgasmic sex. He wants to buy her everything and she doesn't want his money as she wants to be independent. He's demanding, arrogant, and pushy, everything this woman loves about him. Of course, in the end they live happily ever after

If you haven't guessed it, I'm being sarcastic. Sorry folks, but I am so tired of these predictable stories. I totally get that it's about falling in love. I mean I did read the synopsis. I just wish all the bullshit that went on in between meeting and living HEA was different from so many thousands that follow this formula. To each her own.

3 stars! ***

A fast-moving story about abused woman and a alfa-male. I haven't read something like this before. #sarcasm

Eve has endured her marriage with an abusive husband for a long time, but she's had enough. She moved out of their house, filled in for divorce and found a job on the other side of the US.

Grant is rich, confident and hot. He's little over thirty, never had a serious relationship but when he saw Eve something shifted inside of him. He completely changed. One day he was a bachelor, just enjoying his life and the other he wanted only Eve and no one else.

And she wanted him back. How could she not? He's got the looks, the brains and money.

But it was so fast. I mean even cheetah is slower.

"I mean, really, who in the world introduces someone to his parents after one week? Ridiculous."

Exactly my thoughts. And I-love-yous came soon after that.

"29. The number of days I have known Grant."

At this point they've already been serious. With both I-love-you and exchange of safe codes.

The ending fast rushed although it felt like forever before I finally reached it. The book was way too long for how much had happened, which is not much except for lot of sex and complaining.

Complaining. Yeah. There was a lot of it. "Oh my god, poor me. Oh, he's hot, but I can't be with him. Wham! What did I just do? Why? But it was sooo good. I'm gonna do it again. Damn he's so alfa. He's hot. He should stop trying to make my life better. Why does he want to buy me a new dress? I can afford it. Oh, look at my beautiful new dress," says Eve. #justshutup

4 very pleased stars for The CEO. The overview made me curious because we all know I like my instant lust and wealthy men stories. This was a bit predictable but that doesn't make it bad. I like the read and found myself easily hiding away to finish the book because I hate to put down reads when I'm involved and liking them.

Eve was a bit too nice for me at certain points so I found myself rolling my eyes. She fought Grant quite a lot and made him chase after her constantly. I found myself really liking Grant because he was just so damn good. I liked Eve but she had her moments when she annoyed me.

Grant was such a darling, I swear. He was a dominant man with a heart of gold. He respected, trusted, and adored Eve. He gave her space and tried his hardest to respect her wishes. He was an all around good guy, his mother and father aside. His parents made me want to hit them with a metal baseball bat but he never once let them get away with their crap. I liked Grant for his down-to-earth nature and his fierce loyalty. He did everything in his power to be with Eve.

Overall, the read was a good one. I loved Grant and liked Eve. Nolan and Maddox were fabulous supporting characters and I found myself loving them quite a bit, as well. I found it easy to enjoy the book and didn't have too many issues with it. I would say I liked it and that is that.

Billionaire books have been big lately. However, I never really jumped on that bandwagon, so I haven't read a lot of them. But when I saw the description for this one, I knew I had to read it because our heroine, Eve, wasn't a fresh faced college graduate. Eve is in the middle of a divorce, so she has some experience in life.

My only complaint with this was Eve LOL I know, you're thinking, she's the reason you chose the book and she is what you didn't like? Let me expalin....yes, Eve was going through a divorce, but the first few chapters I found her very immature. She got totally tongue tied when Grant came around her, kept having the thoughts of a 14 year old boy, and said whatever drivel popped into her head. Maybe I just haven't met the man that can reduce my brain to not working properly. Eve just got on my nerves. Then, later on when I started liking Eve, she made me mad by wanting to do everything on her own; she had Grant, who would have moved heaven and earth for her, and she kept him in the dark about things that were going on in her life. Then, toward the end, when Eve

Grant, on the other hand, was swoon worthy! Strong, alpha type with just enough softness and caring that I melted every time he opened his mouth :) I would have liked to see how he finally handled his parents after the anniversary party when Eve disappeared, but I'm content with the ending.

I knew Grant and Eve were going to keep me entertained just the way they act toward each other, "his grip tightened on my hip. “You told her about me.” I wanted to slap that smug grin off that handsome face of his..." Grant is a sexy man, his words do things to ladies panties, “you think my suit is sexy?”The deep voice came from behind me before his chest pressed against my back. My eyes closed, wishing away the embarrassment. For the record, it didn’t work. He chose then to lean closer to my ear and whisper. “Your dress is pretty effing sexy if you ask me. It would look great on the floor of my penthouse.” The hand that snaked its way to my waist..." I liked this book, I even enjoyed Grant's overbearing attitude at times.

Based on the name of the book, I really thought that The CEO would have focused on Grant but it didn't. Such a weird way to start a review, right? Well, I just think that the title is the first thing that you experience with a book and the name is everything. Anywho ... that is just my first thought.

When I received this book, I wasn't told that it was an advance copy. When reviewers see that, we expect typos, grammatical issues and punctuation problems. It isn't a big deal and we know that there will be improvements and changes before the final copy comes out. But this one didn't say that it was an advance copy so when I (metaphorically) cracked this one open and it was a mess, I was a little surprised. I'll be honest. It was absolutely ridiculous. The amount of nonsensical sentences was just staggering.

Here's an example: "Is someone to come home to them?" kept walking without turning back.

W. T. F. No, you didn't read that incorrectly and I didn't type it wrong either. How the hell is someone expected to read that?!? I don't even know what the hell it was meant to say! These were ALL. OVER. THE. DAMN. PLACE.

I understand if this isn't the final copy. Hell, I'd be excited if I didn't receive the final copy. Something was definitely wrong and I hope that the mountainous pile of incomplete/nonsense sentences are fixed before this goes to the masses. It really takes away from the pleasure of reading when I'm having to decipher some unknown code to read a damn book. And let's not talk about the 'she' and 'I' issues. It was as if it was never decided which person to write the whole book in.

Here's another big one for me ... the word TAPAS. In case you don't know, tapas means: small Spanish savory dishes. Spanish. SPANISH. Egg rolls are not Spanish. I'm fairly certain that crab cakes are also NOT Spanish. And I know for damn sure that TEMPURA (a Japanese dish), IS NOT SPANISH. The usage of tapas just set me off for some reason. If you don't know what something means, look it up or just don't use it. Please, for the love of everything soft and fluffy. Don't use a damn word you don't understand.

Man, I sound mean, right? Just one complaint after another. I guess I'm so fired up because this book had amazing promise. I mean, the chemistry that the author created between Eve and Grant was sweet and enchanting. But when the sweetness is surrounded by stupid crap that shouldn't even be an issue, it sours you on the whole entire book. The chemistry between them was probably the only good thing about the book. There were so many things that weren't explained or tied up in the story. So many opportunities for the characters to explore relationships with other characters or to expound on the story already in place and it just didn't happen. I don't understand why. Why not finish the book? It felt unfinished and completely unresolved with every character except Eve and Grant and even with those two main characters, there were so many things brought up in the beginning of the novel that were never spoken about again and it seemed like these details were given priority at first and then just dusted under the rug when it was time for the novel to be over.

All in all, not a good reading experience. At. All. I don't think that I'll pick up another novel by this author and that's too bad. There was just so much potential.

Original Review @ Naomi’s Reading Palace

I read a snippet of The CEO and decided to give Shealy James – a new-to-me author – a try. The blurb caught my attention and I was eager to see what happened between Eve and the man in the three piece suit. It ended up being a good read, dealing with some difficult decisions that no woman should have to experience.

I really liked Grant, he was definitely my favourite character from this book. He was confident, sexy and rich, but he never really acted like he was better than everyone. He was willing to pursue Eve and he had that whole alpha male vibe. He found it difficult when she kept rejecting his advances but he never gave up. I liked how supportive he was, and when Eve would pull away from him he would chase her down and pull her back.

Eve was a little harder to connect to. In the beginning she was strong, by leaving her husband and the only life she knew. She then moved across the country to put some distance between her old life and her new one by starting a job with one of her closest friends. Even when she met the strange sexy man, she wasn’t willing to cave to his demands immediately, and I liked her feistiness. She kind of changed after that, and she would go with him, and then pull away over and over, and wasn’t the stong character she believed herself to be. Although she’d been married before, she found it hard to let Grant in, which is understandable, but she seemed to cause drama that wasn’t needed, especially from someone who’s thirty years old (I could probably understand it if she was an immature young adult). Even towards the end, she was quick to run instead of facing her insecurities; she wanted to deal with her past by herself instead of allowing those closest to her support her. I get it, she wants to do some things on her own and be her own woman, but part of being in a relationship also means accepting help and working as a team. And some of her issues actually involved her family but she made it all about her...

Eve and Grant had a fast and passionate connection. They were comfortable with each other, every moment they spent together made their relationship stronger. Certain aspects of their relationship were a little strained as they were from two different worlds, and Grant’s parents were not very supportive. But somehow they managed to be together and work through their hurdles.

Although I usually enjoy stories from the first person perspective, this story fell a little flat to me due to being told about a lot of experiences instead of getting to experience them. To build a connection to a character I like to feel what they are going through, so meeting new people would be one of those times, like Nolan. Eve has a strong friendship with Nolan that I would’ve liked to see more of. If you like a good romance, without going overboard with dialogue, you will like this one.

Reading this story the way I did, I can see why the author mentions at the end that Eve wouldn't leave her alone. She was such a strong character right from the very beginning. More then just her strength though, she was incredibly real in how she came across which made this story very easy for me to jump into and identify with. The issues she has faced, the ones she had to overcome and even her reactions to what is taking place around her were written so phenomenally that you can't help but feel for her or even see a bit of yourself in her.
Enter Grant. Yeah, he can be described as the typical rich guy character but his heart, god it's just so perfect you can't help but fall in love with him right along with Eve. He is definitely exactly what she needed. I don't want to say any more and risk giving away important parts of the story but I even found myself invested with the secondary characters that are present throughout and wanting to see endings for them as well, so I can't wait for more stories featuring this set.
This was a phenomenal read and one I will definitely recommend again and again!

I read the 2nd book, The Artist, before this one. I was amazed how these two books have a completely different feel to them. While reading The Artist I had a lump in my throat and kept shouting at my Kindle for Katherine/Kitty (28 years old) to get away from her parents. She does appear in this book (since she and her parents think she's pre-betrothed to Grant) and she's nasty. During her book we hear her inner monologue where she goes along with her friends, but also thinks they're snots and feels differently. I don't think she was there yet in this book.

What primarily made this story different and one of my favorites was Eve's character. She's real and she's funny. The book had a lighter tone and her relationships with everyone (except Grant's parents) made me want to be part of her inner circle. Her parents are the quintessential family and I want them to adopt me. It was realistic how she and Grant met. They're alone at night after an event and she realizes he could hurt her. She even asks him to go ahead and murder her quickly to get it over with (and it is really humorous). Rather than being starry-eyed, that's actually a realistic thought to finding herself alone with a stranger at night!

For Grant it was instalove and I really liked how he knew what he wanted and hung in there. He's a playboy who had "arrangements" because his mother was basically in charge of picking his wife (although it's been 8 months since there was anyone else). He makes it clear he won't be marrying Kitty. My only problem with him was how he didn't stand up more to his mother and how she was treating Eve.

On a semi-related note, I've been going through and listening to Kristen Ashley's Rock Chicks and Dream man series. I found a parallel to the humor and camaraderie with this book. I also kept reading the book with the Dream Man series's narrator (Kate Russell) as the voice in my head. Her style would be perfect and I hope this will be an audible one day.

The CEO by Shealy James is the first book in the Game Changers Series and I cannot wait for Kitty's book next! This book was a 4 star read for me and I was enthralled with the story of Grant and Eve, turning each page wondering if they would get the happily ever after that they each deserve for their own reasons. You will not be disappointed when you pick up and start reading this fantastic story!

Determined to find herself after a tragic past, Eve moves away from home, with no agenda other than to live her life. She isn't looking for love and she almost doesn't want to find love. She meets Grant, the guy who seems to have it all at her very first party and the sparks between them are electric! Grant begins to pursue Eve and the reader beings turning each page wondering if she will finally succumb to the feelings that he invokes within her or if she will continue to resist him.

Grant is looking for something more, even though on the outside he seems to have it all between work and family. What he wants is someone to want him for the real person he is not how everyone perceives him to be. Wanting more than a hook-up but knowing that most of the woman who fall all over him only see dollar signs and status, Grant feels something for Eve that he doesn't expect and he knows this time it is different.

With Grant determined to make Eve his, in a world where she doesn't always believe she belongs, the reader yearns for the happily ever ending that we hope is coming as we take the journey of their budding relationship. Will they be the couple that each of them wants to be or will they allow outside influences to alter what they truly want in their hearts? You will need to read this fantastic story to find out.

Eve has uprooted her entire life, or at least the parts she wants to keep, and started afresh. With things back home not completely sorted out, she just wants to settle in, make some friends and finally start living.

However, she certainly did not include a caveman alpha in her new life plans. She's not ready to even contemplate a new man but this one doesn't take no for an answer.

Despite being turned down numerous times, playboy Grant continues to chase Eve. Can she give in and just have a quick, no-strings fling?

I loved Grant. He's strong, knows what he wants and is a great character. Even though some scenes in this book were reminiscent of other books I've read, I still enjoyed it.

Unfortunately, the ARC copy I received had quite a lot of errors, which I'm assuming was due to a formatting problem (whole paragraphs had sentences jumbled up, leaving it in total disarray) but I'm sure these will be fixed before release.

There's drama enough for everyone, from vying women, meddling parents to the past just not letting go.

All in all, it's a sweet (if not entirely original) story and I'm sure lots of you will enjoy reading how Grant runs roughshod over Eve and any plans she may have had.

Wow! This book was beyond my expectations! If you love alpha males then this book is for you! Grant very much likes to in control of everything. Eve finally has an opportunity to take charge of her life so she doesn't back down to Grant! The dynamics between these two is incredible! Never a dull moment! They have a love that everyone wishes for! I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happened next! They definitely had some trials in their relationship! This story made remember why I love to read romance!

“‘Baby, I felt you that first time I met you. I felt you from across the room. There is no doubt in my mind you were made for me. You make me feel for the first time ever. I lose my breath when you walk in a room. When you opened the door downstairs, I literally couldn't breathe after not seeing you for two days. You make me laugh, and you make me crazy.”

5 sexy stars!!! This book was so hot and steamy!!! I loved this book and I’m excited to see where the series goes from here!!!

This book was amazing!!! I loved it from beginning to end!!! The characters were so exciting to read and the story overall was fun!! I don’t want to give too much away with my review but this book is worth the read definitely!!! Careful you don’t burn your hands with all the hot, steamy moments!!!

I wasn't meant to get to this book until October. However, I couldn't wait. I've seen it around due to connections with this publisher and I was intrigued from the time I saw the cover. It's safe to say overall it didn't disappoint either.

The CEO was an interesting read. It held my attention well and I found it hard to put down. Although it wasn't perfect, it was entertaining and that's all I can ask of a book.

I thought the characters were well done in The CEO. They were defined and each had their own little quirks. Although Grant was controlling, I couldn't help but find him endearing because it was obvious he cared about Eve. The author balanced his alpha-male tendencies with his softer side well. He was a grounded guy for a CEO and an all round good guy.

Similarly, I found it easy to sympathise with Eve. I understood her reasons for wanting independence and to sort everything out herself, but I also thought her growth was believable as she let Grant in. Even though their relationship is insta-love and a whirlwind in time scale, it didn't feel like it while I was reading. The relationship had its ups and downs, some of which brought a smile to my face.

Like I said though, there were a few issues I had with it. The first was the ending. It felt rushed. Everything with Eve was tied up satisfyingly. However, things with Grant's family weren't. There was no growth in his mum and I would have liked to see what made her change. It was too random for my liking and didn't feel believable.

My next issue, and this is only minor, is that sometimes the writing was repetitive. I wasn't a fan of the life lists in numbers when they exceed 10 points. Similarly, there are a few occasions where I had to re-read sections. A few sentences didn't make sense and it needs to go through a proof read to catch these since they were distracting as I tried to figure out what the author meant. Like I said though, only a minor issues that overall didn't detract.

In general this was a really enjoyable read. I liked the emotional intensity, and the story kept me hooked. If you're looking for CEO romances with a good guy as the lead you may want to check this out.

The CEO is the first book in The Game Changer Series and I would give it a fantastic 4 stars. I was really hoping this book wasn't a cliffy hanger given it was the first book in a series and thank goodness my dreams came true! So needless to say I suppose that is a little spoiler about the book but let me tell you it is quite a journey for Grant and Eve to find there HEA.

The series of course doesn't end there but the next book is another character Kitty's journey. This book was so full of everything I love about a story. I love the hot CEO and they sassy heroine. I look forward to reading Kitty's journey even though she wasn't huge part of the story line, honestly I was actually surprised and intrigued to see her get the story because she was a little of the villian in this book.

Eve has a sordid past she is trying to run from and moves far away from her home town to finally find herself as a person. She isn't looking for love or even a man in her life she is just trying to deal with her past mistakes the best way she can and pick up the pieces of her life. When she meets the sexy Grant at her first party she hosts she instantly feels taken by him but also frightened at the feelings he brings out in her. When Grant starts to pursue her will she given in to his charm or push him away??

Grant on the outside seems to have everything, the money, the perfect job, woman falling at his feet, the perfect family.. but its all a facade to him and he just wishes for a life of normalcy. But no woman ever wants him for more than his money and family status so of course he becomes the playboy because no woman has ever made him want more. That was until he met Eve.. she just ignites something inside of him that he hasn't felt before and he is determined to make her his.. but will he get more than he expected when she keeps turning him down?? Will his family accept her into the social circle when she isn't apart of there world???

Go get this book asap you will not be disappointed! This is a love fast and hard book and wow the sparks will fly! Thanks for a great story and I can't wait for more!

Eve Bryant is a damaged woman. Her husband, James, is fighting their divorce and she wants it over. He mentally and physically abused her. She moved clear across the country to get away from him. Eve went to work for an old friend, Holly, as an event planner at Mitchell College. She was out one evening with her friend and saw this really handsome man watching her. She was not looking for a man because she felt she was still tied to James. Grant Mitchell was a player. He used women in arrangements his mother set him up with. He ran in society circles. His family was old Seattle money and they all ran in their own circles. Grant decided he wanted Eve. He kept asking her out and she would try him down. At an event for the college Eve was cleaning up when Grant came back to see if she was alone. He was concerned and she thought he was there to murder her. He laughed and told her he just wanted her safe. He finally was in the right place at the right time and they wound up going for pizza together. Eve saw a different side to Grant when they were finished and he walked up to a homeless man named Frank and gave the rest to him with some money. She thought that was such a nice thing to do she started to think differently about Grant. They started spending time together to get to know each other. She never felt an attraction with anyone the way she did with Grant. He introduced her to his family and his mother took an immediate dislike to Eve. She tried to not let it bother her but she didn't feel good enough for his family. As things heat up for Eve and Grant, James decides to start harassing Eve. This is a really good story. It does contain profanity and sex scenes so it isn't for everyone. You will really enjoy this book. I did

Shealy James is another new author to me, and I LOVED this book!

Eve Bryant moves across the country to get away from a very bad husband in the middle of a messy divorce. She's broken and just wants a fresh start. But her goal to rediscover herself while swearing off men, hit a snag shortly after moving. Grant Mitchell is a born business man, and the CEO of his families' company, so he's used to getting want he wants. The moment he sees Eve, he decides he's going to make her his. The problem is, she doesn't trust men so she's not quite as sure as Grant about them. But powerful connections are funny things, they don't go away, so Eve is powerless to fight the fast moving relationship, although she does try to put the brakes on. Outside forces surround them, and will stop at nothing to split them up for good. Will Grant and Eve learn to fight together for their love?

The CEO is a fantastic story. Grant is such an awesome controlling alpha with a big heart. Eve gets stronger and really starts standing up to him quite a bit, which makes amazing dynamics. Character development was great, and the secondaries were easy to love just as much. Shealy James quickly got my attention, and brilliantly kept it as I read it in one sitting. Fantastic story line that flowed very smoothly. AND the chemistry was SCORCHING HOT! Cannot wait to read more from this author!

I've been having issues lately and was in a reading rut. I got distracted with my reading *cough*ClashofClans*cough* and I was really having a hard time sticking with a book.

Then this book reached my radar.

And what a pleasant surprise this one was! Honestly I wasn't expecting much when I started reading this (I just got lured by the cover O_O) I felt like this would just like be another fifty wannabee read but lo and behold I was hooked.

It was a light read, no bdsm (but equally hot), the drama was just right and the characters were really likable. Yes, the story was not that original but I love how the story and characters developed and panned out. I was really surprised with the male lead, I thought he would be another douche bag, alpha, control freak CEO but I found myself really liking him. Totally swoon worthy.

Anyways, this can use a better title though, not much CEO stuff happening just background noise but with the perks IMHO.

Readable, but not one I'd recommend. Not a series I'm sure I'd continue, either, even if they were other free Kindle finds.

Eve (h) is starting over after the disastrous end to her marriage. She's moved to Seattle from Georgia, and begun working at Mitchell College. At an event for the school, she meets Grant (H), grandson of the founders of Mitchell - old money Seattle. From there, it's pretty predictable. He's super handsome, super rich, and super promiscuous, but is now completely over the moon in love with her. He wants to buy her the world, she doesn't want his money. He's got exes around every corner, but only wants her now. Oh, and of course, rich old money parents don't approve, but he doesn't care. A fair helping of angst and orgasms, and our leads eventually reach their HEA.

So, yeah, pretty formulaic. That was Problem One.

Problem Two was how I never really connected with the leads, nor did I see any actual growth from them. I like romances that yes, have people falling in love, but also have them being good for each other, growing over whatever issues brought them to these places in their lives. Here, she's spineless and whiny and a crier at the beginning, and she's still that way at the end. She doesn't actually stand up for herself effectively anywhere in the book. And Grant is pushy and borderline stalker-y at the beginning, and is still pushy and dominating at the end. It's total insta-love. For someone who just got out of an intensely controlling relationship, you'd think Eve would have taken a little time at least to gather, regroup, and find herself again before falling back into another controlling relationship (the difference being, he's controlling, but also sweet and rich and gives orgasms?). You could argue that that was her time at her parents after she left, but she was constantly described as being numb and 'out of it' while she was there - I mean, she didn't even notice her ex had attacked her family and best friend! That's not healing and regrouping (at least not entirely). That's just getting over the shock of having to make that step in the first place. But back to Grant and Eve - I just don't see how they fell into bed to start with, when their first few encounters should have been setting off so many alerts for Eve relationship-wise.

Thinking of Eve's lack of backbone... I really, really didn't like the divorce mediation. Well, I didn't like her whole divorce process in the first place (10 months, and she's still not being firm with him?? If you want to start over with a new chapter in your life, you have to end the last one! Get it done with already!!) So she finally faces him and what happens?

Problem Three was the family issues. We sorta kinda see Eve standing up to his parents, but then they pull their strong cards.

Some random issues too.
* For someone who makes all sorts of off-hand comments about being murdered, she's rather an idiot about personal safety. How many times does she - a single woman living alone in a big city - turn off her phone and do something (like fly out of state) without telling anyone??
* Her mom came to her university for Sorority Rush?? I can see her visiting for other events, especially if Eve was living in the house. But for Rush?
* Red velvet is a "winter treat"?
* Some minor editing issues, and even one paragraph repeated directly from the end of one chapter to the start of the next. It's the same character narrating - do we really need the repetition?

1st person POV from Eve's view (I'd've loved to have seen his POV - why he fell so hard in the first place). Cheating, in that Eve's divorce is not final, even though they've been separated for nearly a year. Technically, she's still married. You might not be bothered as much as I was, but based on personal experience, I'm a big proponent of 'finish one relationship entirely before starting a new one, otherwise it's just messy' (which, oh look - it was!). OM drama caused by her soon-to-be ex. OW drama driven by his mother's manipulations. No love triangles, though, so that's a plus. Just kinda flat characters and formulaic plot - too "romance novel stereotypical" for me, I think. HEA and no cliffhangers.

Would I continue this series? I don't know. I have the next two, so maybe, and the next one in the series is Kitty's story (the Mean Girl here). So maybe she's not as horrible as she seems here, or maybe she has more personal growth in her story than either of the two here. I'm not totally drawn in by this author/series, but I do like when a 'bad' character from a previous book becomes the lead in the next. So, maybe.

I enjoyed these characters Evie and Grant. I liked how you could feel the chemistry when they meet for the first time. Grant definitely is alpha male and I enjoyed the chase. Evie liked to leave a lot and at one point I was like "ENOUGH ALREADY WOMAN!" Insecure and alone she is something else. Not a bad red and of course this was an ARC and there were a couple of places that I could not make out what exactly was trying to be said. Any who, good read!

I received this ARC from the publisher via Net Galley for my honest review.
