Everytime I seem to hit a book funk I tend to head straight for the biker genre, what stood out for me with this other than the hot cover was the dark warning tagged to this book..
Here's the guts from my opinion, it's very complex, fast paced and intricate combining the good of Abigail and the bad of the biker gang that took out an innocent little boy whom was in the wrong car at the wrong time..Don't be fooled by the amount of pages because it packs in a lot of grit..
I was very surprised with how much I actually really enjoyed this, loved the story line, the characters and the sit on the edge of my seat action..
Am really looking forward to the next 4 instalments
This was a short quick read that I liked. This was the first book in a new series too me and this was my first time reading this author and I love reading about bikers. Everyone has secrets Abigail Black knows pain only a mother can understand. After her son's murder at the hands of the Savage Souls Outlaw Motorcycle Club, she's hellbent on revenge. There's nothing she won't do to bring them down, even if it means offering her body to infiltrate the brotherhood that destroyed her soul. James St. John recognizes a kindred spirit in Abigail, but her secrets are her own. The brotherhood is his life, and she knows more than she's saying. But trust isn't easily gained he also has his own secrets he is working undercover and if is cover is blown he is a dead man. This book was dark and violent and full of sex. Two damaged souls with nothing to offer each other but sex and holding on to their own secrets. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. This was my first time reading this authors work, but not my last time. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series. If you like reading about hot alpha bikers than I recommend you read this book warning it is a dark read.
Of all the biker series books I have read this is the most violent, terror filled, heartbreaking story of them all. On top of that its just the first part of a five part series. From the very first chapter it is hard-core, deep and dark. These men are viscous they feel they have the right to treat women as are nothing except a receptacle for sex, even then its not really sex either just a means for them to come! Abigail lost the only thing she loved and is only alive now for one purpose, Revenge. The things she goes through in this first part are unspeakable, nothing but a nightmare. I kept expecting at least one of the bikers to show a little humanity, just a bit of kindness. The actual story is betrayal as is often the case between biker clans, this is ongoing through the series. Also the highest men in the Savage gang are true blood brothers, as in siblings. This also causes friction and some in fighting, the swearing is full on. Do not read this and expect any softness or love, even trust seems non-existent at least in this part. I do feel however its worth reading, following through, I need to know more and figure out what made these ex military man turn out to be so nasty and viscous. If you can get past all those issues then this is a great read.
Another great book from Scott Silverii. Very complex set of characters that you immediately want to know more about. I'm sure the rest of the series will allow us to delve into their pasts to see how Abigail and the Savage Souls Motorcycle Club members became the characters we see today. As a huge fan of Sons of Anarchy, I enjoyed the chance to read a book in the biker genre that was so complex and layered with so many multiplex story-lines just beginning to develop in book 1. I was especially drawn to the book after reading the warning label " Please note this book is dark romance and deals with adult themes. Recommended for mature readers only". Which seems to be a new reoccurring theme from today's new Indie writers. Can't wait to get time to read the rest in the series.
The author fairly forewarned us and was 100% honest and correct. It's rough in there. So much so, I'd almost called "DNF" after several spots...one being just as the story began. I've got my own reason why this one is a harder read than most; but out of respect for the author & all that his life has been dedicated to, in order to get him to this point in life? I'm heading into the next round. This shit is NOT for the weak at heart.
I really enjoyed this book which I wasn't sure that I would because I am a strong reader in chic lit/women sleuths.
I don't usually finish reading a book if I find that the story line is on the dark side. I don't mean genre dark side I mean in the behavior of the main character. I didn't watch the Sons of Anarchy series but I am a Tony Soprano fan and I think I like Justice in the same way as Tony Soprano.
I sometimes struggle with an author's first book out because in my opinion, they haven't moved past describing everything to producing great dialogue. This wasn't the case in Broken. Silverii set the scenes so I could picture it in my head as I read along but I still was satisfied with the dialogue.
I will definitely read the rest of the series especially after reading the the synopsis' for each of them.
The intricate details in the beginning left me a little lost, but the build-up to the action packed plot was this books redemption. This was a nitty gritty down and dirty action packed dark and twisted glimpse into the biker world. There is no sugar coating what they do and who they do it too. This book has graphic details that will leave you on the edge of your seat.
I feel like I should bleach my mind. It is one thing to know these things happen but something completely different to imagine it whilst reading. The measures we are willing to take/go to to achieve a goal...well, let's just say the actions of most of these characters will shock you to the bone. I dread to think what will come next and yet, I cannot wait.
The first in the savage souls series, this book certainly lives up to its title. The stage is set, the players Abigail, Justice and James St.John are starting their game and I found myself completely riveted by the well written dark ride. Be sure to have Damage, the second book ready, you will not want to wait!
I was excited when I started this and around 55% I almost DNF. Why? Because of the whole "daddy" -thing I just get turned off when I read that. I finished and will read the second to see if the story gets better. The storyline has potential.
Very slow start. Good writing with death scene and scene before. Got better and picked up 1/2 way through book and kept attention. Hoping next book in series can keep up with pace of ending of this book
When I first started this roller coaster I was going with the flow and then BAM ... ugly cry! The twists and turns of this book have me on the edge! Can't wait to devour the next 4 installments.
The Savage Souls Series is the latest from author LS Silverii. The five-part series chronicles an outlaw motorcycle club (OMC) to tell the story of innocence lost and redemption gained.
