This book contains all four of the Johnson sisters books which are available separately as ebooks and paperbacks.
Book 1 - Rosalind - Peter Gilbert, Duke of Sudworth is a good man, but at the moment he's angry and very very bitter. He has inherited the title and the debt that the selfish lives of his deceased brother and father created. Facing bankruptcy, he has determined to keep his heritage at whatever cost. Only those closest to him know the real reason he is desperate to save his family home - the member of his family his father was ashamed off.
Rosalind Johnson, is the eldest daughter of a 'cit', a man who has earned his fortune through business. As an ambitious father he is determined that his four daughters will marry the highest titles in the country, whether they like it or not, and he is prepared to pay to achieve his goal. Rosalind has no choice to marry a stranger and take on a life and Society that looked down on someone who came from trade. She would need all her resourcefulness to cope.
Two people forced together because of circumstances that they did not create would be set for a shaky start at best, but with local gossip, illegitimate children and an alleged affair, things were never going to be quiet in the home of the Duke and Duchess of Sudworth.
Book 2 - Annabelle - Annabelle Johnson has a secret. It could ruin her. But yet, she remained in a darkened room with a gentleman. Perhaps it was because for the first time she felt safe in a gentleman’s company.
Compromised and hiding a damning secret was never going to be a good mix. Annabelle had to think of something before her secret ruined her and hurt the man she had married.
Lord Stannage, Earl of Garston was a handsome man. A pity then that everyone who met him only noticed his different coloured eyes. In a society that only perfection was accepted, he was never going to feel welcomed. He avoids society apart from when he becomes too lonely.
Two people, both hurting and afraid, needing each other’s strength before their living nightmare can ease. Will they find the courage to trust and listen to each other, or will they continue on their path to heartbreak?
Book 3 - Grace - Grace Johnson does not want to marry a titled gentleman. She is only happy and at peace when spending time in a garden - any garden. When she visits her sister, the Duchess of Sudworth, Grace is disappointed that even her beloved sister is not listening to her. Grace hates matchmaking schemes but seems powerless to stop them.
Harry Long is Head Gardener at Sudworth Hall. He is a good and loyal member of staff. The day that Grace walks into his life turns everything upside down. For the first time he is taking risks for the beautiful pixie that has walked into his life but, his actions could cost him everything.
An innocent picnic threatens Grace and Harry in ways that neither could have predicted, but their lives and the lives of those around them will never be the same because of it.
Book 4 - Eleanor - Eleanor Johnson, the youngest of the Johnson sisters, is plain. No one will ever write sonnets about her but she does not wish for sonnets; just someone to love her for herself. She has lived in the shadow of her three older, more beautiful sisters all her life. Now, not only plain she has made a fool of herself in the worst possible way.
Joseph Heaton is sick of the fickleness of society. He has become one of those in society famous for their notoriety in putting people down. He is to find that one arrogant sentence was to cost him the woman that, unwittingly had become the most important person in his life.
Audrey Harrison was born about two hundred years too late. She wants to belong to a time when men were men and women were dressed in gowns and could float, simper and sigh.
In the real world she has always longed to write, writing a full manuscript when she was fourteen years old. Work, marriage and children got in the way as they do and it was only when an event at work landed her in hospital that she decided to take stock. One Voluntary Redundancy later, she found that the words and characters came to the forefront and the writing began in earnest.
Her ideal would be to write Regency Romances, but more modern characters are insisting on being heard, hence the release of’ ‘A Very Modern Lord’, a contemporary romance.
So, although at home more these days, the housework is still neglected and tea is still late on the table, but she has an understanding family, who usually shake their heads at her and sigh. That is a sign of understanding, isn’t it?
I love that these four novels are presented in one compilation as one story truly flows into the next and they are all linked with a common villain, a selfish father and the necessity of four marriages. All start out badly but end triumphantly. There is a bit of a edge, and the miscommunications abound. There is even some violence and sexual encounters, but none are graphically described. Altogether a very excellent series which I enjoyed. Audrey Harrison is on my must purchase list.
This set of books Reminded me of myself because I have 3 sisters. Just as in the novel, each sister is different and has led a very different life from the others. The motherly sister - I have one; constantly soul-searching sister; the overachiever; and the creative failure. I truly enjoyed reading each story of the individual journeys as well as the bond between them. Furthermore, the bad characters were so evil. A great series. I.love Audrey Harrison' s work.
These were 4 books a part of a series on 4 sisters who had big dowries as their father was a 'cit' who wanted them to marry 'titles'. They were traditional regencies. The characters were interesting and it had a a villain running through the series who was really evil. I liked the third and the last book more. The first one was too dragged. The second one was sad and had two stories in it. Overall they were a good read, a bit boring in parts.
Enjoyable reading. Loved the characters, well-defined with a little bit of everything incorporated. Mystery, fear and joy. I suggest that you read all the books to receive the most enjoyment of each sisters journey, all different and we'll told.
This group of books is an excellent read. The best part is that they give more than the happy ever after. They complete each other even to the very end. Please ensure u read to the very end. The characters seem to become more rounded as they go on and age in the stories.
After reading one book by Audrey Harrison at the start of May I am now Kindle Unlimited member and totally addicted to her characters, they are sublime!! I'm just hoping she has enough books to leave me satisfied, you will definitely enjoy her work.
I would recommend these books to anyone who likes a good & original romance. Very good stories. The characters were engaging & out of the ordinary. I p loo an to read all of Audrey Harrison's books.
I enjoyed this. I found the characters realistic, and felt like I was included in the family circle. At 74 I’ve learned to value friends and family both past and present. I was entertained by characters I would welcome in my life. It’s good to escape the life and future the media is showing us.
I thoroughly enjoyed Ms. Harrison's tales of the four sisters! Delightfully written and while the circumstances in each story were not unheard of, they were all told well.
This book about four sisters and how their lives work out was laid out well from beginning to end. I thoroughly enjoyed the epilogue which gave an account of all the characters future years down the line.
Not a moment went by that was boring reading this wonderful novel. I went from each story to the next with great anticipation! Never disappointed! Fabulous read. I highly recommend to all!
I loved this series, it was full of excitement, intrigue, love and deception, very well written and kept you wanting to continue to see the outcome. I loved the very final epilogue bringing the whole 4 books together and finished off beautifully.
Loved the connection of these sisters and how their bond shaped their choices. The stories each had wonderful plots and exciting endearing moments. A wonderful read
I read three out of the four sisters' books. I liked the unique voice of each sister and the special relationship they had. I liked certain details, like Annie, a special needs individual. I was disappointed in several aspects of the book-- in the first book, the conflicts came too quickly and were resolved too quickly; in the second, I couldn't buy into the idea that two different colored eyes was an "affliction" and would cause such social chaos; and in the third (which I enjoyed the most), the scene where Grace pursues Harry seemed to come to fast and to be out of character.
This set of stories is as tightly knit as the four sisters themselves. The last story resolves much of what is alluded to in the first.
There is something for everyone: arranged marriage, marriage by scandal, rekindled love, mixing with the working class, titled men in debt or who do not meet society's expectations, old busybodies, and underhanded business dealings. What more could you ask for?
What a very enjoyable set of stores about each sister and how thy interacted with the other sisters in there story's. I loved the old busy body that turned up in each sisters story we all know some one like her. As for lady Joan is there a book about her so we know of she did find true love in the end.
I thoroughly enjoyed all four stories. There was romance, suspense, regency fashion and good writing. I am looking forward to reading more from the same author.
This is a wonderful collection of stories. I loved being able to follow the Johnson sisters on their journey to find a husband. The author did a superb job on all of the characters. I have really enjoyed the books I have read by this author and will continue to read her work.
