Finding It: Unlimited Class Book One

Rate this book
Brent and Bart are busy young men who begin working on their senior English project the summer before the school year begins. They plan to compose a rock opera based on the epic poem Beowulf to be performed live and recorded by Brent’s rock band for presentation to their class, lofty goals indeed.

For the rest of The Class of ’74, the goal is having the most memorable year ever, beginning with a good-humored, harmless prank like enrolling a fake student in senior classes. But that was only a hint of the mayhem to follow.

After suffering a series of devastating injuries and narrow defeats, the football team is relegated to play for second place in the league, a far cry from the lofty ambitions of only two months past. So, instead of staging a football pep rally on the Friday afternoon before Halloween, a professional magic show, featuring Marvelous Marvin and his assistant Dawn, was hired to entertain the entire school.

Not content with breaking tradition, the senior pranksters, including the class officers and the most popular social elites, decide, as the class project, to ‘borrow’ the school’s rusty old victory and have it bronzed. But instead of asking permission from the administration, because that would be the boring and normal thing to do, they decide to steal it at the conclusion of football season’s final game. But for their plan to work, they must have the cooperation of Brent and Bart, two considerably less popular students who, because they are serving as the team’s student manager and student statistician, have the necessary access to make the clandestine caper work.

That’s only the beginning of the mayhem. You see, unbeknownst to anyone at school, Brent has a secret he is only beginning to discover and reluctantly accept. He has a magical essence that is trying to manifest outwardly. And Marin’s lovely assistant is like Brent, though a year and a half older, in full control of her abilities, and best friends with a young witch who is part of a group called The Vigilanties, who protect everyone magical from persecution, torture, and death.

All this is happening while Brent is trying to earn a varsity letter as the unlimited class (heavyweight) wrestler and the respect he has long desired as a student-athlete.
