When several explosions rock the centre of Edinburgh, the White Hart is immediately called into action. While the attackers flee with a hoard of priceless historical manuscripts, in a lonely English village, recent intelligence photographs suggest a potentially shocking connection between the suspected culprits and the wife of the Deputy Prime Minister.
For White Hart agents Mike Hansen and Kit Masterson, the new lead is just the first piece of a potentially explosive jigsaw that threatens to tear a hole in the heart of the British government. As a new threat reveals itself, the White Hart's only chance to bring an end to ruthless activities is to follow the trail to the bitter end.

I found this an enjoyable read, with different subplots and an exciting historical treasure hunt all coming together to make a satisfying novel. The history in the novel was very well researched, and I was particularly thrilled to see a few mentions of Henry of Grosmont, first duke of Lancaster (c. 1310-61), a hero of mine! He holds a BSc from Loughborough University and resides in Warwickshire, where he enjoys sports, history, reading, contemplating the meaning of life, planning book-related travels and pondering plot twists.
This is the sixth book I have read from John Paul Davis, the others being ‘The Templar Agenda’, ‘The Larmenius Inheritance’, ‘The Plantagenet Vendetta’, ‘The Cromwell Deception’ and ‘The Cortés Enigma’. Like his previous books, it is exciting and interesting and hard to put down.
The plot describes the actions of an ancient and secret order called the White Hart, set up to defend the realm but to operate in the utmost secrecy. When a group of terrorists attack the official Scottish archives, apparently to steal artwork and manuscripts, the White Hart order get involved because the wife of the Deputy Prime Minister is found to be involved with a member of the group. The terrorists then launch a second attack on the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and further links with UK Cabinet Ministers are uncovered. Although they are unable to stop the attack, the White Hart Order find a further attack is planned for a well-known location in Paris. They must then attempt to foil this attack and apprehend the terrorists, as well as finding out more about how the terrorists are linked with members of the UK government, without it becoming public knowledge.
I understand that there are further books planned based on the White Hart Order, and the main characters introduced. I look forward to these!
A wee snifter of things to come. This prequel to the White Hart books in my opinion is a must read. All four books if I remember correctly are classed as stand alone stories, personally I think to get the best out of them they need to be read in order. I actually started reading book 1 in the series and by chapter two I gave up and bought this. These books are fantastic I am actually now on the last in the series. I really enjoy the way they are set out and the amount of research that has gone into each one is astounding. A mixture of historical facts, theories and fiction draws you in and holds you until the last page. And the author kindly explains in depth at the end which saves me googling. I have previously read the Cortes Trilogy by this author which I thoroughly enjoyed and have also purchased his four stand alone books which I will read after the White Hart series. I am a great Dan Brown fan, however I now think John Paul Davis is now my favourite author, please don't put down your pen.
Ok, so started reading these out of order, having read The Crown Jewels Conspiracy first. Having read the two prequels now, am totally addicted. Adore the characters, the detail of the scenery & the weaving of fact & fiction. Highly recommend these books
Title – The Bordeaux Connection Author – John Paul Davis Genre – Suspense, Thriller, Action 65,400 Words Rating 4 stars out of 5 No. 50 - 2018 Posted 12/26/2018
My Impressions: French terrorist, old rivalries, shadow organizations, unbelievable but a fun read.
Main Characters: Kit Masterson – agent of The Order of the White Hart. Michael Hansen – agent of The Order of the White Hart.
The Bordeaux Connection started a little slow for my taste but quickly picked up speed with detailed action scenes. The Order of White Hart is a carryover from ancient times and is still organized to protect the country. Kit and Michael are ex-military and skilled in combat. Both are handsome but opposites of each other. While investigating several thefts they discover evidence of another plot. They are assigned to observe targeted members of the British Government while at the opera. The story got a little far-fetched and turned to Sci-fi when they were given opera glasses that had not only night vision capability but also an X- ray feature that could see hidden items across the opera hall. If you can live with that, the story became complex as high ranking officials involved in nefarious plots were uncovered and dealt with. Some aspects of the plot were a bit vague and left me wanting more information on them. This isn’t a great story but it is a fun romp full of action and lowdown acts committed in high places.
The editing and sentence structure are excellent. Character Development is good for the main and sub characters. Details are a bit too much. I quickly grew tired of detailed descriptions of the old English buildings. Research is evident in locations utilized. The plot is complex and action packed after a slow beginning. The writing style is sophisticated and in depth. Continuity is good as everything was orderly and there were no conflicts between scenes.

Not sure why, but I read this prequel last. It did not matter, it read well as a stand alone. This is where certain royal cousins began their attempt to over throw current British royals. One must wonder, do these secret messages, embedded in various works of art really exist? I want to think so.....
I’m not sure what to think because this book should come before the white hart books but yet Grousmant is a white hart and the book is just a short story not a book. It kept in flow with the overall theme but nothing really happened in this short story. I do love how the author throws historical fact into the books. If it wasn’t for that I wouldn’t have given this a 3*. All in all if I had read tis book 1st I don’t know if I would have read the trilogy tat followed which was awesome! Just skip this book. You don’t need it
Bit long winded in places, but kept me reading. Describing areas. A new author to me in this genre. So l will read the next book before l decide if adding John Paul Davis to my list of authors to follow
Lack of character development and vagueness made this book unreadable for me. I've loved the author's other novels, but this one just fell flat. I gave up at 25%.
