SOMEONE IS TAKING SEARCH AND RESCUE OFF THE MAP… ONE MEMBER AT A TIME. Eve has finally gotten her foot in the door with Wyoming West Search and Rescue, and she's not about to let a few grueling tests—or one particularly grumpy team president—stand between her and her dream.
With her loyal dog Atlas by her side, Eve is determined to prove that they have what it takes to become full-fledged members of the team. The first few challenges go smoothly, but when Atlas successfully locates a hidden training sample, there's one very important thing missing.
The person who's supposed to be testing them.
At first, Eve suspects someone is deliberately trying to sabotage her chances. But when the missing evaluator fails to return home, irritation turns to alarm. And when the search for a missing person becomes a murder investigation, Eve realizes there's a lot more at stake than her search and rescue certification.
Someone has a deadly grudge against Wyoming West Search and Rescue, and the body count might not stop at one.
With team members potentially in the crosshairs and a killer hiding behind an unknown motive, Eve and Atlas find themselves facing their most dangerous challenge yet. Uncovering the truth won't be easy, especially when nobody knows who might be next.
In the rugged Wyoming wilderness, finding the missing is what search and rescue does best.
But what happens when the rescuers become the targets?
A suspenseful, twist-filled cozy mystery featuring a determined amateur sleuth, her clever canine companion, small-town secrets, and a killer who's turning search and rescue into a deadly game.
When Cozy Mystery author, Patti Benning, isn’t busy plotting the deaths of multiple fictitious characters, she loves to spend time hiking with her rescue dog, Max, who is her bestest writing buddy.
Patti loves to cook and the food in her books has been tried and tested in her very own kitchen. She’s technologically shy, and stays away from social media a great deal, because it makes her feel more awkward and introverted than meeting someone face to face.
Writing is the perfect job for her because in her books, she gets to explore all the topics she loves, food, animals, crafts and reading. She loves her readers dearly, and is thankful for the opportunity to share with them through her work.
This was such an enjoyable, entertaining, and very interesting read! Eve has finally been accepted to try out for the Wyoming West Search and Rescue team, albeit on a trial basis. Jonathan Lieberman, the head of the group, is just as obnoxious and foul-tempered as usual, but Eve is determined not to let it ruin her mood or her chances to become a permanent part of the team. After the initial written test and physical assessments, she has been cleared for the final phase of finding a hidden cadaver specimen. The team member assisting with the search evaluation and providing the final report has suddenly disappeared and is not answering his phone. When Eve later finds his body slumped inside his SUV, it opens an entirely different and unexpected aspect of the current S&R team!
Fast-paced, interesting, and very well written, it held my interest from start to finish. This spin-off series continues to get better, and I can't wait for more stories to enjoy and get lost in!
Eve has been made to jumps through hoops to join the local search & rescue group in her new town. She finally at the last hurdle and things go terribly wrong. Well written story with great characters. I really enjoyed this story as well as the others in this series I highly recommend.
Eve dream of becoming a part of the Wyoming search and rescue team comes closer for her and Arias. But she seems to have an enemy as someone seems to be sabotage the test. Someone ether has a grudge with her or the rescue team. She will have more than rescue as she searches for the truth.
Truly enjoy this series and their new location in Wyoming. You find yourself going along on the searches and trying to figure out "who done it", which is not apparently obvious. Hope to see many more episodes of Eve, Willow and Atlas!
So much for taking the test to join the team. It may still work out. But there are so many interesting things happening to make life difficult. Good thing the puppies are ok.
