Matira has always been a dreamer.

Raised in an orphanage, her days are spent lost in fantasies while her nights are haunted by vivid visions so real they feel like memories. She has spent her life longing for something more, desperate to escape her reality, until the night a strange light pulls her through a portal into another realm.

Atlanticia, a floating city steeped in ancient magic, dangerous power, and deadly secrets.

Though not everyone welcomes her arrival, Matira is given a place among them as the royal librarian. As she begins unraveling the city’s hidden histories, she realizes Atlanticia is far more dangerous than she ever imagined.

Robin, prince of Atlanticia, has spent his life protecting the floating city, and from the moment Matira appears, he is certain she is a threat. When strange occurrences begin to plague the city, each one somehow tied to Matira, his suspicions only deepen, and he is determined to prove she is the cause before it is too late.

But as darkness stirs around Atlanticia and long-buried secrets begin to surface, Matira discovers her arrival may not have been an accident at all. The deeper she digs, the more she uncovers truths buried for generations, truths that could unravel the city itself.

And if she cannot uncover the truth in time, Atlanticia may not survive what is coming.

Hi all! I think the only thing harder than book blurbs is author blurbs, but here goes nothing. My name is S. A. Stevens and I have been obsessed with reading since I first learned how. Eventually that love turned into a desire to create my own stories. My first attempt was a fan fiction from Narnia.

I have always loved fantasy & mystery books (TV shows/movies is a little more varied). Growing up, I always had the Chronicles of Narnia, Sherlock Holmes, or a Nancy Drew Mystery in my hand. In high school, my best friend convinced me to read Lord of the Rings. That series solidified my desire to create worlds people could get lost in.

It has been a long journey to get here from that first fan fic back in middle school. I have never stopped writing completely, although I was forced to take hiatus' at times due to life throwing some curveballs my way. But last year I decided it was finally time to embrace this writing journey and see where it leads.

I received an advanced reader copy. This is my honest review :)

The writing was a bit stiff in the first few chapters and I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it but once the story had got going, I enjoyed. The story follows orphaned Matira as she falls through a portal and into a centuries long mystery surrounding the world she’s fallen into. Expect confusion and lots of guessing during the book as she pieces things together through nightmares, hidden libraries and puzzles.

I enjoyed the mystery/ detectivey element to this book. The world building and plot has a lot of depth, and it looks like there will be even more in the next books. There’s a good mix of characters and we see some good character growth throughout the book. There’s definitely an enemies to lovers relationship in the making (unconfirmed but iykyk).

The writing style was the main thing I was not sold on. It felt like the author had a thesaurus and was injecting the most random words for things, which broke the flow up for me. This was especially the case at the start; either it got more relaxed or I got used to it later on. I’d still read the series despite this as the premise is unique and interesting!

Any time a fantasy world can bring me into it is a win for me! This debut novel, Moonlight Echoes has done exactly this!!! I recall when this was just a few pages of an idea, to seeing the first manuscript assembled, and now seeing the final book, I am emotional!!! I absolutely love Matira’s story and the dream world this book takes you to!!!

Matira, the FMC, is a shy, naive, quiet, daydreamer, who loves books.

Robin, the MMC, is a prince, serious, yet caring of his people, observant, protective, and a Captain.

I love the way the story is told through multiple characters, but the main POV is still Matira’s!! I enjoyed the way that I could envision the things Matira was seeing as if I was present within the story! I love when fantasy books do this. That keeps me guessing on what is about to happen, or dropping clues that make you wonder what the truth is.

I can’t express enough how fun this adventure has been reading through this book!!! And I look forward to what the rest of the story holds!!!! If you enjoy fantasy, with a grumpy/sunshine duo, a magic system, secrets and well-kept knowledge, found family, and reluctant heroes, you are going to really enjoy this book!!!

ARC review of Moonlight Echoes, copy received from the author.

This is classical portal fantasy with dark undertones.
It's a multiple pov, written in the third person.

It's a world that is easy to follow along with but that doesn't mean it's not well developed or enveloping.
The characters are characters you'll care about and root for. Even if, at times, they might get on your nerves 😂 They all have their own story and background and bring something to the table.

We have a delightful found family in this! The people she finds truly do their best for her.
And a growing grumpy x sunshine kind of relationship.

There's a lot of secrets and knowledge that is being hidden from the general population as well 👀

This story literally transported me to another realm and made me remember the joy I had when I read stories like Narnia, making me want to happen upon a portal like I once used to search my wardrobe.

Excited to see what else will come from this author ^^

5 stars on characters, enjoyment, quality and plot!

It truly is a great book and I wish the author all the success@

Thank you so much S.A. Stevens for an arc copy! I am so grateful!

This was a unique story and I was very intrigued by the concept. I'm not super familiar with portal fantasies so this was a fun experience! This is definitely a set up for a larger series, so a ton of world building and stage setting and I can see we are in for something epic! There is a lot of mystery that was interesting to try to unravel and I know there are so many secrets that we still need to unfold.

I really enjoyed the multi POV. There are a lot of characters and perspectives so it was interesting to see all of the events through different eyes. I really enjoyed the found family, and it was lovely seeing Matira grow and find her place. I love Sophia, Arthur, and Lancelot. Arthur and Lancelot have such a fun dynamic and I can't wait to see more of everyone.

I'm excited to see where this series goes! The cliffhanger was brutal, and I was shocked by the turn of events. I'm so curious to see what happens next!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. My review is voluntary and reflects my honest opinion.

Book besties, I know we've been taught that all magic comes with a price, but I would gladly fall through a portal to Atlanticia anytime! The political intrigue simmering just beneath the surface of this seemingly idyllic world is just so juicy. I love Matira (our beloved FMC) and how we discover this new world through her eyes; but I also love the split POV throughout the book and how we get to see different facets of the world through Lancelot, Arthur, Robin, Sophia, and others' eyes! The lore runs deep, and with depth comes shadows. I found myself tapping for the next page, only to find I had finished on a wonderfully jaw dropping cliffhanger!

what a good book

🔗 character connection: I love reading a multi POV book. I think it makes it way easier to understand more characters - even if you don’t agree 😂
❤️‍🩹 emotional: not necessarily super emotional but a lot of intrigue of what’s actually happening.
🔥 chemistry: lots of assumed chemistry even if you’re not sure who it’s actually happening between.
🏃🏽‍♀️ pacing: this book does really well with the pacing. Slowly giving you little tidbits of the history and each character and what might actually be happening.
🤯 plot twist: loved it. I’m excited for book 2.

I had the joy of ARC reading this book and loved every moment of it. Dreamlike qualities of myths and fairy tales were woven together to create something really unique and special.
I'm looking forward to the next instalment after that cliff-hanger ending!

Honestly, this book had me in a chokehold. The characters were great. It felt like a mystery and having to find out what and who was doing things. It was a great fantasy read. This author writes a great story. I can't wait for book 2. 🤞🏽
