My fifth five-star rating of the year goes to The Darkest Frost: Volume 2 by Tanya Holmes.
Warning
The Darkest Frost: Volume 1 must be read prior to Volume 2. I'm all for reading out of order, but I honestly wouldn't recommend you to do that with this two-part serial. These guys will already shake up your brain cells with their sexy presence (and story line) without adding more confuzzlement due to your possible reading out of order. You've been warned.
I'm not a fan of cheating and I can reassure readers who feel the same way, pick this book up because there is none and no ménage either.
Apologies in advance because I will have to keep my review extremely generic and on the shorter side for obvious reasons. What I can say is this: I would have loved to quote more. Unfortunately, it wasn't possible because my request for more teaser quotes has been declined. Although I do hope that those quotes I added to my review will be whetting your appetite. I can't stress enough how fantastic this two-part serial gothic paranormal romance is that introduced me to the intriguing world of Xavier and Braeden, probably the sexiest twins gracing our world of romance books. It goes without saying that I'm very grateful that I gave their compelling story a go. Sometimes the best thing you can do is ignore a friend's well-meant advice that a specific book isn't for you. The consequence is that you would be seriously missing out. Anyway, I'm bloody thankful that my friend was wrong. Err for the win, it is.
How everything began…
Synopsis from my review of Volume 1
After a lot of groundwork, psychic detective Denieve Knight has finally found a way inside Braeden Frost's mansion. The good doctor has been dubbed "Dr. Death" by the press after he'd been linked to nineteen deceased people. One among those nineteen victims is Caryn; she's Denieve's ex-best friend. In order to determine whether Braeden Frost killed Caryn, Denieve is working as Frost's housekeeper under her alias Danielle Reed. The mysterious Braeden is causing her some problems, but the situation is getting even more complicated once Braeden's twin, Xavier, enters the picture.
The first installment ends with a pretty huge cliffhanger.

Volume 2 picks right up where Volume 1 left off and made me laugh my pants off and shake my head in wonderment all at once. Let's be honest, who would come up with those wildly crazy and imaginative plot twists? Tanya Holmes, that's who. Yet everything fell into place with such ease and grace and in a intelligible way, it was pretty astounding given the fact that the twists and turns were quite complex. Kudos to the author, Tanya Holmes, who has crafted a little gem that sparkles with its very own brand of originality. I'm quite a demanding and challenging reader, and justifiably so, yet I must say that I'm mighty impressed by her talent as a gifted storyteller. Her writing is impeccable; it sucked me in from the beginning of the first installment and she managed to not only keep my interest but stimulate my excitement to some strangely heady altitudes. Come to think of it, let's blame the pheromones that must cloak not only the super sexy male leads but the entire certifiable storyline. Well, and that cobwebbed crevice I was talking about before I started reading part two? She sure was spot-on. Thus I didn't stand a chance and had to hand out a five-star rating.
“Newsflash, doll. I told him because I can’t shake you.” He stabbed a finger into his temple a few times. “I can’t get you the fuck out of my head.”
“That’s too bad because this isn’t going anywhere. The End. Roll the damn credits.”
“The End, you say?” He lifted a brow in challenge. “Well, I say, ‘sequel.’”
Hot blood flooded my cheeks. “Cancelled due to lack of interest!”
The devil danced in his eyes as he whispered, “Reboot.”
Xavier was close to pushing me to finally sign up to a yoga class and learn some proper breathing technique. Why you might ask. There's a simple answer: That junkyard dog (I love dogs, I grew up with one) is my favorite crazy enigma and he can nail me against a wall anytime. Or toss me on a bed, or make me even wetter under a stimulating shower spray. Seems to me that being worked up is so well worth it when you're recompensed and sated by such a sexy beast like the foul-mouthed, crazy ass yet incredibly likable Xavier. I know, I know, there is Braeden. Er…Braeden who? Regardless of Braeden, I'm team Xavier all the way. #sorrynotsorryatall
Bottom line
I enjoyed both volumes immensely and hope you will also. Good grief. You are still here? What are you waiting for? Go and grab them! Xavier and Braeden are more than ready to show you a great time and offer you your very personal crescendo. Take a deep breath, guzzle down enough fluids because I guarantee you, these guys will make you pant and sweat till kingdom come.

"Why is that when you look at me, it feels like you're still looking for 'them'?"
I spent my weekend completely wrapped up in this two book paranormal series by Tanya Holmes. This new to me author exceeded any expectations I had going into the conclusion of this two book series. She managed to take a good story line (book one a solid 4 stars for me) and throughout the pages of this book she brought it over the line directly into epic and unforgettable read territory!
"Finally..."God I missed you." Those were Ian McBride's first words to me."
This author dotted every “i” and crossed every “t” while truly creating a wonderful love story. I fell in love with Braedon and Xavier Frost and for hours on end I was completely consumed by these characters. Please note that there isn't cheating or a menage scenario in this book. What I loved most about the writing was that it never felt like she was overdoing it or trying too hard. The story flowed and evolved and the characters' development was superbly done. I swear I was just as invested as the heroine and torn and fulfilled by the story as a whole.
If you’re a romance fan and don’t mind a mix of paranormal definitely give this well written series a try!

This 2 part series is so damn good,especially for 2 of the sexiest twins ever...I wouldn't know who to choose
Well,I've just reviewed book one,which was brilliant and this is even better.Yes I'm totally gushing about this series.It's definitely one of the best I've read.
This one picks up where book one ended and Denieve finds herself in turmoil as throughout the book she learns more about Braeden and Xavier(swoon).
She knows Braeden is being secretive and is confused by her feelings for Xavier.She hates him,thinks he's a dick but can't help having lustful feelings for him.( Can't blame her,the man is sex personified! )
Can I just say that Braeden and Xavier are delicious in their own way.They are the hottest twins I've ever come across.
In book one I was definitely team Braeden but here,while I still loved him,I was team Xavier for sure...did I mention he's hot??
I loved getting the background story of Braeden and Xavier and the paranormal element which was extremely well written.Yes,there was a lot of information but not once did I get bored or confused(which sometimes happens for me in PNR books),in fact I found it fascinating.
There's plenty to keep you guessing as the story reaches it's conclusion.
Again,I know this review might sound vague but it's impossible to go into the story without massive spoilers.

There's no cheating,it's not a love triangle or menage....intrigued?? You'll just have to read this amazing series and find out!!

The second installment of this two part serial was just as fantastic as part one. I've always enjoyed a good PNR, but I get tired of the same old stuff being redone over and over, so in a way me and PNR haven't been on the same page for a while, but The Darkest Frost reminded me of why I first fell in love with this genre.
Loving the flame that tames the sword.
An original plot, that was equal parts suspenseful and sexy. A story and characters that had me completely captivated. I know I say this all the time, but this little hidden treasure of a series is the perfect example of a book that deserves that difficult to review stamp. Honestly, I don't want to give away any of the magic, the fun, the experience. I highly recommend this one for fan of PNR.

The biggest compliment I can pay this book(duology) and the author, is by saying that it is unlike any other story I have ever read, or am ever likely to read in the future.
Tanya Holmes pretty much has done it again with the second (and final) instalment in this series, in that I cannot really say too much about the story, because it is all essentially one massive spoiler, it pretty much starts, where the last book left off, and the pace of the story is pretty fast moving.
”What are you?”
”Extremely hard to kill…"
Xavier and Braeden Frost are unlike any other fictional set of brothers you are ever likely to meet. I loved the sharp contrasts between them both in their personalities and their actions. Denieve, is pretty much on a constant roller-coaster with the pair of them, and as soon as she (and the reader) figures out something about them, you are barreling onward to the next massive twist.
”This will happen, and when it does, I’ll own every inch of you.”
This isn’t a book you are going to forget reading, and the author really does deserve massive respect for putting together such an unusual, engrossing and beautifully written story. Although I can’t say a lot about it, I cannot recommend The Darkest Frost duology highly enough. The story pretty much has a little of everything in it too keep you entertained, but you really do need to read the first book otherwise you will not have a clue as to what is going on.
”I embrace the crazy. It’s the only way to live.”

4.5 stars. Indeed.
Ok. For me, who is not a big fan of PNR, this worked. Why? I don't know. Really original storyline. Interesting characters. Some eye-rolling moments with what was going on but overall a solid read.
Yes, the review is going to be pretty vague.
You are better off going in blind.
If you have read the first one, you will have an idea of what you want.
Some great literature references too.
Yeats. My childhood. Visited his grave at Drumcliffe every year while on holidays in my father's home county of Sligo. What a mystical county.
Overall, a winner for me.
I am now waiting for the follow up to the "Temptation" book from this author. No pressure!!

This is part 2, the conclusion, of a 2-part series. Part 1 MUST be read prior to part 2.
Now, that's the way to end this series!
Book 2 of TDF literally picks up where part 1 left off. There is no breathing room here, so refresh your memory of how things were left if you need to. At the conclusion of book 1, there were very many unanswered questions. Denieve( Danielle ) is confused, alarmed and very much a slave to the tumultuous sensations brewing within her. It's like her heart and mind are at a tug-of-war, and she's caught in between. Her endless questions about Braeden and his secrets, her confusing, yet lustful feelings for Xavier, her own guilt over hiding who she really is, Caryn...all these thoughts are spinning out of control.
Enter the Frost twins...
I think any woman would be driven mad by the enigmatic brothers. If you're looking for analytical, smooth, sexy and intense, then Dr. Braeden Frost is your man. If you prefer the bad boy, sexy, reckless and asshole tendencies of a guy that makes you as hot as he does angry, then the electrifying Xavier Frost is your ticket. These two are entrenched in complicated secrecy that defies expectation. I loved them both, but the funny thing was, in book 1, I liked Braeden more, but by half way through this one, I was all over Xavier.
There are many twists and turns here. Things that I thought I knew, but didn't. There was an immense growth in character for all three main leads. Watching them bloom individually, then collectively, was lovely to see. I really like the way TH writes her stuff. Ever since reading Within Temptation, a fantastic romantic suspense, I knew that I'd enjoy all her work. Her descriptions are flawless, her way with words, beautiful. The best thing about this book, aside from the original plot line, was how everything fit like a puzzle. At first, I didn't understand how the main issues could be resolved, but drawing on threads seductively laced throughout the series, everything came together perfectly. An epilogue would have been the icing on the cake, but it works either way.
If you're looking for a PNR that's intelligent, hot, quietly funny at times and drenched in gothic goodness, then you gotta read this.
Although I chuckled in a few places because it was so witty at times, but not in a comedic way, there was one line that had me laughing my head off...
"Get out! I didn't invite you in." "My name's Xavier, not Dracula. I don't need a fucking invitation."

The best thing about this book, aside from the original plot line, was how everything fit like a puzzle. At first, I didn't understand how the main issues could be resolved, but drawing on threads seductively laced throughout the series, everything came together perfectly. An epilogue would have been the icing on the cake, but it works either way.
If you're looking for a PNR that's intelligent, hot, quietly funny at times and drenched in gothic goodness, then you gotta read this.
Although I chuckled in a few places because it was so witty at times, but not in a comedic way, there was one line that had me laughing my head off...
"Get out! I didn't invite you in." "My name's Xavier, not Dracula. I don't need a fucking invitation."

This was a great two volume series, and just so refreshing to have a unique paranormal romance. My only complaint would be that sometimes it felt like there was too much information to swallow!! I would find myself overwhelmed with all of the info. Probably just me, I must have a small brain capacity..LOL! I definitely am impressed with Tanya Holmes writing, and face it; she must have a brilliant mind to come up with a story like this! Seriously, it was a very complex storyline, and I highly respect her as an author that she was able to create such an in depth paranormal world.
There is not much I can say about the story line as it is more beneficial for the reader to go in blind and discover all of the secrets as they are revealed. If paranormal is something you are interested in, then this is a must read! Heck, even if you have never been into PNR...this is a great book duo to start with. It is unlike anything you have ever read, or have ever heard about. There are no "clichés" in these two books, they truly are in a class all of their own! I am very glad that I gave them a chance, and I highly recommend Volume One and Two! They are both out now so even though there is a cliffy in the first installment; it doesn't matter as you can continue right away!!! An absolute gem!!

Well, it’s been quite a while since I’ve read a paranormal romance, and this was the perfect book to get me back into it. What an intriguing story this was. And so unique in it’s make up.
This was the story of one man whose soul was fractured into two separate entities.
Well, actually he wasn’t really a man… But I don’t want to elaborate too much. I went into this one without really knowing what I was in for… and honestly, I think that the story is much better discovered first hand. So I won’t elaborate too much.
This is the story of Denieve Knight, a psychic detective sent to investigate the notorious and accused doctor who has recently lost 19 of his patients to mysterious deaths. This is including the death of his receptionist, who happens to be Denieve’s best friend from childhood.
The man…Dr. Braeden Frost is a reclusive and brooding hematologist who has been dubbed by the media as Dr. Death. Since he is somehow being blamed for their mysterious deaths… all by natural causes.
Posing as a newly hired housekeeper in Dr. Frost’s home, Denieve soon realizes that there is more to this man than meets the eye. And her psychic gifts are only drawing her closer to him. And the lies…. so many fucking lies…
This is a wildly creative story. It involves all kinds of paranormal twists that range from a flaming ghost to a hidden race of fallen angels. It also involves the splitting of souls and immortal curses. It involves the tainted touch of a good man, and the hurtful words of another.
And in the end, it involves falling in love. Not with one man… but with three. Do I have your attention yet? It is all so confusing, and yet it all falls into place in the end.
I really enjoyed this. Book 2, especially picks up the pace. I had trouble putting it down. Although I do have to admit to wanting to strangle the heroine a few times. But in the end, she seemed to get her shit together.
I am really looking forward to more from this series.
Highly recommend this one. But keep in mind, it’s a two-book deal. You’re better off buying the bundle!

This is Volume 2 of a 2-part serial. Please read The Darkest Frost, Volume 1 first. Volume 2 begins where Volume 1 left off.
I picked this 2 part serial up on a whim after reading two excellent 5 star reviews. Was it as good as the reviews said it was? You bet it was! In fact this is definitely the best book series I've had the pleasure of reading in 2015. With so many questions left unanswered after I read Volume 1, this 2nd Volume answered every one of them. Although this series is classified as paranormal it is nothing like you might expect.
There are so many things going on in this series that it's almost impossible to fit everything into a review without including major spoilers.
We have two of the sexiest twin brothers, Braeden and Xavier. Denieve has fallen for both brothers but with so many conflicting emotions she decides to disappear.
"Yes, I’d fallen for Braeden, yet I still had unresolved feelings for his twin brother. That was reason enough to get the hell out of here. For now, I intended to keep up appearances. If Braeden caught wind of my plans, there’d be another scene. He hadn’t spoken to me all morning anyway. So he probably didn’t even care. My resignation letter was tucked in my sweater pocket. I’d leave it in the foyer. No explanations. No goodbyes. No drama. Danielle Reed would just disappear into the ether."
Her disappearance sets off a whirlwind of events that doesn't stop until the ending of the book.
As events unfold and questions are answered, we learn more about Braeden, Xavier and Denieve's past. The book moves along at a wonderful pace with many surprises, twists and turns along the way. The author's writing is amazing and her ability to keep me interested and engaged is fascinating. The sex scenes are hot and steamy and beautifully written and the ending was just perfect.
"Lust blazed in Xavier’s eyes as he scooted in across from me. “That Jacuzzi was just one fantasy. I’ve had dozens— of fucking you on this bed. On the floor.” He nudged his chin. ��Against that wall.” Then he looked away as if distracted by the mental images. “Yeah. Several times against that wall— with me behind you. After that, with you facing me and your legs wrapped around my….”
If you are looking for something unconventionally different that will keep you guessing and interested from beginning to end, I highly recommend this series. You won't be disappointed!!

I don't want to spoil, but I must say that while the first book is more mystery this one is more paranormal. Not vampire style or shifter paranormal, but paranormal all the same!

Here Deni is bewildred util she's out of her mind! Things and revelations are bombaring her at every turn, until she's almost out of her mind! Nothing is as she's been expecting and nobody is what she thought! It's a marvelous trip to an unexpected HEA!

Phew….Finally, not a grand review but one nonetheless.
I love stumbling upon new authors and giving their books a go. I call these my little GEMS!
The Darkest Frost series was a recommendation from my good friend Mo and I am thrilled to report that I truly enjoyed Tanya Holmes writing and I absolutely loved these two books. I’m looking forward to reading more books from her.
It is a two book series and I decided to write a review after finishing book 2. The way the story unfolded within these two books was so unique and creative. Kudos to Tanya for writing something that for me was a breath of fresh air, something different.
I’ll be very vague because these books are best to experience with very little insight.
There were three main characters in this series. Braeden and Xavier Frost couldn’t have been any more different. They were intriguing, sexy, intense and at times abstruse. It didn’t take long before I was completely invested in these two men. Where was this story going to take them?
One woman would change their being. Denieve Knight was a psychic detective with an agenda that she kept to herself. She knew what she had to do, what she had to prove but following her instincts had left her unguarded against something that would change her life forever.
Tanya did a fantastic job setting everything up in book 1. The building of the characters and the plot was done in a way that left me craving the next book. In book 2 everything explodes. I especially loved getting the back story on Braeden and Xaiver. Where she took all the characters, the twists in the plot and the PNR element was different from any other PNR books I have read. I loved it all.
And there was such a perfect ending too. LOVED IT! I highly recommend this series. ❤
One last thing. In TDF1 there is a bit of a lull (for lack of a better word) in the middle. Don’t let that deter you.

It’s such a rarity that I find a book that speaks directly to my heart and my soul. I’ve been reading since I could hold up a book in my hands. Along the way, I’ve encountered the so-so, the good and even the great but I can count on one hand how often I’ve read a book that got me so perfectly! My connection to this story and these characters is visceral. I honestly can’t point out one flaw or one single thing I would change.
If Gothic or Paranormal romance is not your usual genre, don’t automatically disregard this book. You won’t find any of the usual paranormal creatures or things that go bump in the night. What you will find is spot on characters, a well-paced plot with twists and turns that keep you guessing and an amazing read that is so well written and unique it transcends genres.
I have pages of notes and highlighted passages most of which I won’t share here because to do so would jeopardize the experience for other readers. This series is best read completely blind, letting the story of Denieve, Braeden and Xavier take you to places you never thought you’d go and never saw coming.
One point I’d like to make is, though there are two Heroes and one Heroine, there is no ménage, no cheating, and no love triangle. “It’s Complicated!” is a phrase that perfectly describes the relationship status of the three main characters! How it plays out is mind blowing!
The Darkest Frost Vol. 2 has a wonderful mix of fun, angst and drama. I laughed so much I had a perma-grin for much of the book, the tension had my heart pounding and the tender moments had tears streaming down my face. Oh, and the sexy scenes had me begging for more. I swear, Ms. Holmes wrote this book with me in mind. She met and exceeded my every expectation and need. I am truly in awe of this woman’s talent!
This book is my perfection! Will it be yours’s?

Denieve Knight is a psychic detective that went undercover into Dr. Braeden Frost's estate to investigate his possible involvement in the nineteen deaths of his patients. Little did she plan to fall in love with the enigmatic and secretive man and get caught up in his web of lies.
Braeden Frost, well he's not quite human, isn't he? And his twin, Xavier, is his reckless, impulsive other half. Now that Denieve's life is probably in danger, Braeden has to make some difficult decision and drastic measure to ensure her survival, including sacrificing himself.
In The Darkest Frost, Tanya Holmes had crafted a brilliantly unique paranormal story that boggle my mind. The world building that she created was uniquely hers and flawless. The way she connecting all the dots just prove how she planned everything right from the beginning. I wish I actually read both the books back to back, so I remember everything exactly as it is.
I know this is technically not a triangle, but I can't help but had a strong feeling of 'I am Team Braeden'. After witnessing what Denieve went through, that just prove how human I am. I know I'm not making much sense with my rant here, but anyway, for a love triangle hater, I was really satisfy with how this messed up trio solve their problem in the end.
Overall, this series is unique, awesome, kickass and brilliant. If you are a paranormal lover, you don't want to miss this.

The Darkest Frost Volume 2 is the second and last book in a two book series of the same name by author, Tanya Holmes. I loved part one SO SO much. When I finished the first book, I needed to have the second book. It was all I could think about for days. I was so anxious to start reading that I refreshed my kindle probably 5 times waiting for my review copy to get synced. And then I proceeded to ignore 3 other days of review books so I could read the darkest Frost. This is just one of those books that made me forget the world. The second volume brought a lot of character development and insight that we were able to fully flesh out in the first book because of all the secrets. I loved looking into the brothers past and getting to know them so much better.
This is the second half of a duology that needs to be read together, so I can't really say too much without spoiling the first book for you. If you have not read this series, you need to. I will set it up for you. Denivere, or Danielle, or D is a psychic detective that is sent to investigate Braeden Frost for the deaths of several of his patients. But you know the drill, Dr. Frost is not at all what he seems, and Danielle falls for him. And then there is his mysterious brother Xavier. And that is all I am telling you. The rest would ruin the awesome story that Tanya Holmes has crafted. Trust me, there are tons of twists and turns and the way everything fits together in the end is pure magic. We got so many answers and I loved the way everything worked out. I wouldn't have changed a thing.
If you like Gothic romances and paranormal romances, this is a must read for your collection. I cannot get enough of the Frost brothers. I want so much more. I know this is supposed to be the end of the story, but I want more! This will be a re-read book for me anytime I need a good paranormal pick me up. In fact, I kind of want to re-read this right now...from the beginning. I don't think I will ever be able to get enough of this story. I love it that much.

This is not a stand alone. You must read part one first: The Darkest Frost: Volume 1
This second book concludes the story and what a fantastic conclusion! I've been waiting on the edge of my seat for months to read this... but it was totally worth the wait! That ending... just beautiful... could not have been happier with the way this author tied everything up and pulled all of the pieces of the puzzle together. This duo of books is definitely one of my top favorite PR reads this year. It's original, engaging, sexy, mysterious, suspenseful.. a little bit of everything I love in a story.
Once again I find it impossible to review this book without revealing any spoilers. And, because it's part two I really don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't read part one so that makes it twice has hard. But in summary...
The overall story revolves around Denieve who came into the Frost world to investigate the mysterious Dr. Braeden Frost and the deaths that surround him. Her best friend, who was one of those mysterious deaths, brought her there and yes, she is a ghost. Dr. Frost has a twin brother named Xavier and Denieve finds herself mysteriously attracted to both men and she is conflicted as to why. They are complete opposites in every way and the two of them just don't make sense. This is where the author truly showed her talent. The way she resolved this triangle of love is one of the most original storylines I've ever read. Two men... two sides of the same coin... sharing one heart... one soul... but also completely divided and conflicted. My heart was torn between both of them. As book one ended I was totally team Xavier because he was such a delicious and sexy bad boy. But when I learn the truth about who they both are, I was just as divided as Denieve... and, I was in love with both of these mysterious men. An impossible situation that the author so successfully pulled together in a way that will make EVERYONE happy. :) Just a beautiful and unique love story that had me all smiles at the end and maybe even shedding a little tear or two.
I really can't recommend this series enough for the PR fan!

This second book concludes the story and what a fantastic conclusion! I've been waiting on the edge of my seat for months to read this... but it was totally worth the wait! That ending... just beautiful... could not have been happier with the way this author tied everything up and pulled all of the pieces of the puzzle together. This duo of books is definitely one of my top favorite PR reads this year. It's original, engaging, sexy, mysterious, suspenseful.. a little bit of everything I love in a story.
Once again I find it impossible to review this book without revealing any spoilers. And, because it's part two I really don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't read part one so that makes it twice has hard. But in summary...
The overall story revolves around Denieve who came into the Frost world to investigate the mysterious Dr. Braeden Frost and the deaths that surround him. Her best friend, who was one of those mysterious deaths, brought her there and yes, she is a ghost. Dr. Frost has a twin brother named Xavier and Denieve finds herself mysteriously attracted to both men and she is conflicted as to why. They are complete opposites in every way and the two of them just don't make sense. This is where the author truly showed her talent. The way she resolved this triangle of love is one of the most original storylines I've ever read. Two men... two sides of the same coin... sharing one heart... one soul... but also completely divided and conflicted. My heart was torn between both of them. As book one ended I was totally team Xavier because he was such a delicious and sexy bad boy. Let me start by telling you right up front that I am the editor of both Volumes 1 and 2 of The Darkest Frost. I also edited Tanya’s debut romance, Within Temptation. I edit fiction full-time and I edit lots of it, but I don’t always have the opportunity to edit works that have the potential to completely blow my head off. I thought Volume 1 was mind blowing enough. Little did I know that The Darkest Frost, Volume 2 could be even more powerful. It’s books like this one that make me love my job—who wouldn’t love to read about Braeden and Xavier for a living?
When Tanya told me she was going to write a Gothic paranormal romance that would be like nothing I’d ever seen before and a serial no less, I could not even comprehend that The Darkest Frost would turn into a complete stroke of brilliance. Once I finished Volume 2 (which I read at least twice), I came to this conclusion: An author would have to be either imaginative beyond belief or crazy to come up with a plot and characters this twisted and yet this enchanting…or both. I’m not saying Tanya’s crazy, but she is crazy good at what she does! It has been over a month since I worked on The Darkest Frost, Volume 2, and I still can’t get these characters out of my head. I probably won’t for a very long time.
I won’t put in spoilers or rehash the plot because others have done it so eloquently, but I’d like to tell you a bit of what I loved about this story. First and foremost, I am Team Xavier all the way. The line “Embrace your crazy” pretty much sums it up. I’ve always had a thing for bad boys and when they’re off-the-wall bad boys, so much the better. What I loved about Volume 2 is that we finally find out WHY Xavier is who he is and why Braeden is the way he is. The explanation is so unique and yet SO believable. How did Tanya do that? She created another race—the Yoreck—and she gave a perfect explanation for how this race came to be, how Braeden and Xavier came to be, and where Denieve aka Danielle fits into the picture. Every single puzzle piece in this story falls into place with magical perfection. Tanya keeps you guessing and absolutely nothing can be taken for granted here.

After reading 'The Darkest Frost, Volume' I knew I had to read 'Volume 2'. This is one of those stories that stay with you after you've read the last page. 'Volume 2' blew me away. The only reason it took me twice as long to read it was due to that dreaded thing known as a 'job'. Oh how I hated that I couldn't read it in one or two sittings. Yet, now that I've finished, oh my God was it brilliantly written. The way the story played out was full of secrecy, drama, deceit, confusing emotions, awesome paranormal aspects and some real hot and steamy scenes. Fan myself hotness. Danieve is still the awesome woman with many conflicting feelings, which were understandable. And then you have the hot as hell twins, Braeden and Xavier. What a complicated pair. They pushed Danieve to being angry, feeling loved, humiliated and to be the woman they knew she could be. She's the perfect lead for this series. I absolutely loved this book. This series is a must read. Definitely highly recommended. I love how Tanya Holmes brought life, a beautiful one at that, to this series. Very creative.

What a wild ride!!!!
Book 1 hinted that we’d have two heroes. Book two confirms it. So we have the mysterious Dr. Braeden Frost:
And his crazy but sexy as hell twin Xavier Frost:
Book two picks up right where Book one left off. Remember this?
And Deni doing this?
So right after that happened, she goes hiding in her room.
Meanwhile Xavier has a temper tantrum because he’s a brat, and he’s sexually frustrated, and Deni won’t let him in her room, and he’s pissed at Braeden for manipulating him.
Then Braeden comes home finds his room trashed. The twins immediately start fighting after Xavier spills the beans about what happened in the kitchen.
After that?
A shit load of crazy things happen. It’s a wild ride that I don’t want to spoil. But my favorite moment of all is a hilarious proposal by one of the brothers and…
That ending! Wow, what can I say. It was spectacular!!!!!!!!!!
The Darkest Frost Volume 2 is all that and a bag of chips. This serial duology has earned a spot on my keeper shelf!!!!!!!!!!

WOW! I am blown away yet again, by Tanya Holmes’ masterful writing and the magical world she created within 2 serial novels! ... I doubt anyone could ever come close to replicating such a unique and intriguing story-line! Brimming with surprises, twists & turns and complex, well developed characters that will keep readers on the edge of their seats and pages turning! ... I know I did not want to stop reading whenever my real life got in the way ; ) LOL * Must read both volumes in order *

I'm not much for picking up paranormal reads anymore these days. I only picked up this series because I had so many friends on here who absolutely adored it, so I figured what the heck, and dove in. Wow, I'm so glad I did! I had forgotten how hot paranormal stories can be. And this one was scorching!!! Tanya Holmes did an amazing job at making Xavier seem like such a dick, then melt the reader's panties when we saw what a vulnerable, caring sweetie he could be. And Xavier in bed, OMG!!! I am planning on re-reading these scenes numerous times.
I freaking LOVED this story so much. Perfect story, perfect ending, perfect Soulmates! HEA. I'm a happy girl today after reading this baby.

The Darkest Frost: Volumes 1 and 2
This was a FABULOUS two part series and, for the most part, my initiation into the paranormal genre. From some reviews I’ve read- it seems as though it is not necessarily the norm for PRN, but regardless- it was pretty damn good IMO!!
I was intrigued from the beginning, and I immediately segued from volume one to volume two (major cliffy).
So how to sum this up without giving anything away……
Dr. Braeden Frost was a tortured soul.
He had the blood of nineteen innocent people on his hands.
Xavier Frost.
He was an asshole. A DICK. I liked him a lot!!
"Everything isn’t what it seems"
To the mortal world, they were identical twins, but in reality, they were two halves of the same person.
As similarities went, both exuded an off-the-charts sensuality.
Denieve Knight a.k.a. Danielle Reed- housekeeper by day, psychic on the sly. She was only trying to discover the truth.
"Do you see these flames?" Caryn held her arms out from her sides. “I’m in torment. In your existence there’s twenty-four hours in a day. In mine, it’s forever. I’m burning. Always."
Our relationship started with lies, lies I’d told.
"He manipulated me with his lies."
Add to that, the myriad of other lies…
LIES, LIES, LIES.
But in the end, what shown brighter and truer than the darkness of all the lies was love. It was unmistakable.

This is one of the most amazingly written works I have ever freaking read. EVER. EVER-EVER.
Tanya Holmes's ability to engage readers is incomprehensible; authors everywhere WISH they were this addicting. This review is difficult for me because I have this deep-seated fear of giving it all away, so I won't. I will say that the characters are written so perfectly that as a reader, you feel everything they do - you don't read about it, you LIVE it.
The twists and turns were well placed, always interesting, and never disappointing. The characters' growth, be it personal or the relationships with each other, is organic and thought provoking.
The plot... OMG can you say original?? Wait, that's not right, because it is SO much more than that!! I have never, NEVER read anything like TDF and I highly doubt I ever will again, simply because the entire world Holmes created cannot be imitated or duplicated.

First and foremost, if you haven't read The Darkest Frost Vol 1, you better back track a sec and buy that one first because without that, you are going to be completely lost!
Warning: be prepared for a book hangover of epic proportions!!!!
When I finished Vol 1 of The Darkest Frost in June I knew that I was going to go nuts waiting for Vol 2 to come out. I was just about at that point when I received the ARC and let me tell you, this book did not disappoint me ONE SINGLE BIT!!! There were tons of laughs, tons of tears (definitely tears at the last word when I knew this was the end), and TONS of twists and turns that left me questioning what I thought I already knew about these characters. It completely consumed me heart and soul from the first word. This is shocking for me because I have never been a huge fan of the paranormal romance genre and haven't been able to ever get into one as much as I got into TDF.
Denieve, Braeden and Xavier are written in such a way that they seem like they are real people not characters on the page. I think that is what drew me so deep into this book, they weren't wishy washy personalities, they were people who had real issues and dilemas that they had to find answers to. And as with the first book, the steaminess factor is just as off the charts and made me want my own Xavier! Yes, I have always been Team Xavier since Vol 1, but at the end of this one and without revealing too much information, I may been leaning towards another team completely!
I am a Tanya Holmes fan for life and you are all missing out if you have never read one of her books!!!

Devoured both books in 48 hours. Massive book hangover underway.
My friend and co-blogger has been telling me for MONTHS to read The Darkest Frost. She has gushed and gently prodded me, and once I had time in my reading schedule, so I finally had the absolute pleasure of meeting Dr. Braeden Frost and his brother Xavier. I read both volumes back-to-back, so writing this review/letter will be an amalgam of both.
Psychic detective Denieve Knight goes into the home of Dr. Frost in hopes of solving a murder. She has been visited by a ghost from her past and needs to find out what exactly has taken place. The infamous Dr. Frost is at the root of it and Denieve must hide who and what she truly is in order to discover the truth. Only is Dr. Frost doing the same for different reasons?
Living in a world as a psychic has proven one thing: you need to keep an open mind in all matters unexplainable and look at every angle.
Here comes the nitty-gritty, guys. What I need to tell you is this... GO IN BLIND. Just know these few things.
1- The build up is incredible
2- This is one hell of a sexy read
3- There are two deliciously mysterious brothers
4- The journey is amazing
5- Holmes’s writing and story telling is right up there with the best in PNR today
That’s it. You are getting a vague, yet raving review.
Don’t search for spoilers. Don’t overanalyze and don’t spoil it for the reader who hasn’t had the pleasure of diving into The Darkest Frost. I have a phrase I use sparingly and I am using it now…THIS IS WHY I READ.

Okay. Wow. I liked the first one a lot, but I LOVED this one. Fantastic. The author did an amazing job of tying up all her loose ends. This was plotted pretty perfectly. I got more of my Xavier, got a little of Braedon, and... better yet... Ian!
My only complaint would be that the end felt too sudden. This could just be me, but I felt like I wanted more time with Ian since we had barely just gotten to see him. But even without that, I feel like this is a solid almost (barely-just-shy-of ) five-star read.
But seriously guys... these books are so worth a read. Go get them. Right now :)

Xavier was the leading man and hero in this installment.. A wonderful brooding asshole!!! Just how I like them..
He showed us all his sides and they ALL won me over..
We got all of the background, learned about their kind and all this while watching Denieve struggle with her emotions and not own up to what she truly felt!! Denieve was a mess up until the end, she had to have things literally spelled out for her and kept making the wrong choices over and over again.

This one was even better than the first book. My hands are tied here as I can't say anything without spoiling the plot away.

(Revised review) Part 2) Loved this !! The Yoreck people were a weird lot, very complicated, even to themselves. Denieve had her mind overloaded with all that was happening and with all she still needed to comprehend. Very different than anything I've ever read. I loved these deep, beautifully written characters. The story flows steadily with immense feeling and passion. The sex scenes have been awesome, and now with Xavier are amazing - raw - powerful - erotic - all encompassing to form their bond. Wonderful story telling by Tanya Holmes. I'll be reading more of her works. There is no cheating, no ménage. Interesting, different, engaging, sexy, thrilling, suspenseful, erotic, and hopeful. This tale will reel you in, hold you. Wow....what a great conclusion to this series! Tanya Holmes has done something that no other writer has been able to....she's renewed my interest in PNRs. The story is original, it's beautifully written and the character development is fantastic. Plus the two heroes, Braeden and Xavier, are to die for! *sigh* If you're a fan of paranormal romance or just romance in general you won't want to miss this one.
